The 28 Best Hotels in Buenos Aires for Foodies, Tango Enthusiasts, and Architecture Lovers | Condé Nast Traveler

"On a mellow Palermo Hollywood street behind wooden gates, this five‑story, LEED‑built boutique reveals a glass‑and‑iron façade supporting a 90‑foot vertical garden. Guests buzz into a small lobby, and kids love the tiny rooftop splash pool and hot tub. As Argentina’s self‑proclaimed first urban green hotel, it leans into sustainability—rainwater recovery, energy‑efficient architecture, low emissions and CO2 recovery—and swaps plastic for glass bottles of filtered water with a lobby refill station." - Celeste Moure

Palo Santo Hotel — Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Why book? In trendy Palermo Hollywood, this eco-friendly Buenos Aires retreat with a leafy hidden garden hides in plain view on a quiet street. Set the scene Walking down the mellow street, you might not notice that a boutique hotel lies just beyond the wooden gate. Look up and you’ll see a five-story building, built to LEED standards, with a glass-and-iron façade that supports a 90-foot vertical garden. For access, guests—tattooed, Adidas-wearing, white-haired creatives and Gen-Xers in skinny jeans and black-framed Ray Ban sunglasses—buzz in and enter a small lobby. There’s a tiny splash pool and jacuzzi in the rooftop, which kids will love. The rooms Only two of the 18 rooms are suites, which are located on the top floor and feature separate living and dining areas, plus either an extended private balcony or a private terrace. The rest of the rooms vary slightly in size, but all feature a modern aesthetic of white walls punctuated by colorful canvas art, wooden floors made of a native tree (the palo santo or holy stick), black-out curtains, and sliding doors that open to private balconies. Food and drink The hearty breakfast buffet is included and served in the restaurant on the ground level overlooking the outdoor garden, where some 800 plant species help create a peaceful urban oasis. Charqui, the restaurant, offers a lunch and dinner menu that focuses on Argentine specialties—think empanadas, provoleta, blood sausage croquets, milanesas, grilled meats, pastas and salads. The neighborhood/area The neighborhood takes its name, Palermo Hollywood, from the number of photography studios, film and TV production houses that have taken over the area’s century-old buildings and warehouses. A few blocks from the hotel, close to Plaza Mafalda, is a covered flea market that specializes in antiques and vintage finds—think colorful rotary phones that a Gen Z would love, movie posters, tango classics on vinyl, Royal typewriters, and more. For a leisurely walk or picnic, head to the lovely Japanese Garden , with its koi pond and Cherry Blossom trees. Palo Santo also offers a pair of courtesy bikes to explore the neighborhood. The service The staff, warm and welcoming, is eager to recommend places to shop, eat and drink in the neighborhood and beyond. For families The hotel attracts design-savvy crowd, mostly Americans and Europeans, lots of couples and, increasingly, solo travelers who are keen to take advantage of the favorable exchange rate. For families traveling with older kids or teens, the hotel offers two adjacent rooms that can be closed off from the exterior hall to create a private entry. Eco effort Self-proclaimed as the country’s first urban green hotel, Palo Santo has put environmental practices in place, such as rainwater recovery, energy efficiency in rooms and in its architecture, low emissions and CO2 recovery, and more. Instead of plastic water bottles, rooms come with glass bottles of filtered water that guests can refill in the lobby at their convenience. Anything left to mention? A small gym will soon open on the top floor adjacent to the rooftop pool." - Celeste Moure

All aspects of Palo Santo Hotel were exceptional, including location, comfort of room, food, and walkable things to do; however, what really made Palo Santo special was the staff! Everyone we met, from the Front Desk to the restaurant and those in between, was knowledgeable, helpful and fun to talk with. We would definitely stay here when we travel to Buenos Aires again.

Great views. Nicest service. So safe and helpful. Even loaned us cash when we messed up on how we ordered our uber initially. Don’t worry, we immediately paid them back when once they gave us directions to a western union and tips on how to get the best exchange rate. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to my friends. They also have great recommendations for places to eat, to walk around and entertainment.

This boutique hotel is warm, charming, and elegantly designed. Everything feels carefully chosen. The hotel embraces an ecological philosophy without sacrificing comfort. |The rooms are spotless. |What truly sets it apart is the warmth of the staff — genuinely kind and attentive.||One of my favorite things was the quiet patio, perfect for enjoying a book, a cup of tea or an evening wine.

Great location and beautiful lush hotel with lots of plants and foliage. What is even better is the staff. The guys at the front desk all three days we were here were super friendly and couldn’t have been more inviting. You get a free glass of wine with your stay as well. Also don’t buy water bottles on the street because they have a free filtered refill station in the lobby. Would stay here again 10 out of 10!

#1 LOCATION- BA's Best Neighbored Palermo Hollywood. Lots of restaurants, cafes, well located to public transport (underground and buses);|#2 BREAKFAST - Fresh fruits, selection of amazing meats and bread, eggs cooked on request, coffee is made on site - not machine. So good.|#3 EMANUEL (PM shift) and CAMELO (AM shift) at front desk are both amazing. So considerate, helpful, go out of their way (football match, recommendations, friendly). Excellent service is not dead - it LIVES at Palo Santo.|#4 ROOMS - First rate. Comfortable beds, large rooms, all amenities, including refrigerator, TV with lots of channels (but why stay in at night when you're staying in Palermo Hollywood (so named because lots of media companies based here).|#5 Hotel Palo Santo is a work of art. Mostly constructed of Palo Santo tree wood, waterfall in lobby and THE FIRST URBAN GREEN HOTEL IN ARGENTINA. Built to LEED standard as defined by U.S> Green Building Council. Environmental friendly in all things.|HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! WILL RETURN. The BEST.

Google
I Recently stayed here for a long weekend and I have mixed feelings about the place. The room was spacious and comfortable (mattress not so much). It’s an absolute joke that they charge $2.50 USD for an Nespresso Capsule in the room (and do not offer an alternative coffee option) - this is the first time in my life I have ever seen this and I’ve been to 100+ countries and stayed in 1000+ of places. It’s the principle rather than the price that is the problem here! The pool is tiny but the hot tub is nice - the wide angle photos are deceiving. Breakfast I skipped after the first day as the breakfast room is really small and the options limited. Location is great and the staff are very helpful. Oh the iron and ironing board were terrible! So overall, average in every way.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations! The hotel staff was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The room was very spacious and we loved the balcony overlooking the courtyard. The location is perfect with several restaurants within a quick walking distance. I highly recommend Palo Santo Hotel for your trip to Buenos Aires!

Yelp
L-O-V-E this place! Absolutely recommend you to stay here. The interior sitting area/green space is lovely, the restaurant serves delicious food and wine, rooms are spacious and very clean with awesome rain shower and city views. The cherry on top of this already fantastic stay?? José! Extremely helpful, informative, friendly and patient, he made us feel welcome from the second we arrived and made us sad to say goodbye. A great asset to the hotel, and another reason we will come back to stay again!

Yelp
Had a 9 night stay at the hotel. The office staff were definitely one of the best parts of the experience--they answered questions we had about BA over email before even arriving. They cared so much about helping my family find things to do, good places to eat, shows to attend, and getting around the city. The room was clean and always attended to in a timely fashion. We received a free glass of wine upon check in and enjoyed the nice courtyard space and lounge areas in the lobby. There was a fresh cold/hot water dispenser, free breakfast (not my absolute favorite but it got the job done), morning newsletters at breakfast with city recommendations, free rentable bikes, a restaurant + bar, a room balcony, lots of greenery and a waterfall, and strong security for entering the building. The pool was closed for renovations when we went, but I'm sure it was nice. There are nice wine, cheese, and bakery shops right nextdoor. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in Palermo, I'd recommend Palo Santo.

Yelp
This might be the environmental science nerd in me but this is one of the coolest hotels that I've been too. Green overgrowing throughout the hotel, waterfalls, reminders that you can be environmentally conscious while you're on vacation - it's all an immersive experience that brings a new, modern perspective to life in Argentina. In terms of rooms, it's probably the best deal you can get in BA. The rooms are beautifully modern, spacious, and perfect for two people who want to get away for a couple days. The balconies in each room are an incredible touch. We had a view of the back garden patio. It was so relaxing to sit back with some coffee and start the morning (realistically afternoon based on BA nightlife) with that view. Ready to have one of the greatest showers ever? That waterfall showerhead and clean, modern bathroom have your back (literally). Traveler Amenities that really up the stars for PSH: -They hold bags at the front desk for however long you need. -THAT BREAKFAST THOUGH. It was the best hotel breakfast that I have ever had. From the coffee, to the delicious selection of breads and spreads to the smoked salmon and omlettes, you cannot ask for better. -Concierge knowledge and concern. The service is spectacular. The concierge had our gringa backs throughout the whole trip and was able to give us the best insight into what the best spots in BA are. Staying here and having the concierge is like being a big baller in Vegas but better. It is one of the best hotel experiences that I've had in general. I highly recommend staying here if you're in BA. It's absolutely worth it.

Yelp
Palo Santo says they are the first green (built to LEED standards) hotel in Latin America. I didn't see if they were certified and, if so, at what level. Anyway, they have spacious, modern rooms (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=uq767S0B27GiYCW0UHa_jw#oKfu7KtnwGKoC5ocjwxU2w) I don't know LEED, but would have thought a bath exhaust fan to vent shower steam would be part of that, but not present in the bathroom (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=uq767S0B27GiYCW0UHa_jw#4yW9pMPyTKK_SGVp7XVXGw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=nqY1rr5aQltRPc7g3gzhxQ#KQ1eHQ4hIruYSSSc2wuKlg) Amenities include a small rooftop pool and spa as well as in room Nespresso machines (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=nqY1rr5aQltRPc7g3gzhxQ#nqY1rr5aQltRPc7g3gzhxQ) and well stocked mini-bar (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=nqY1rr5aQltRPc7g3gzhxQ#V9MckOWGT7X8R6ZrMDlPtg) Breakfast is not the usual buffet spread, but rather table service. You get yogurt, fruit, and pastries (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=uq767S0B27GiYCW0UHa_jw#6_TrEehe0yX92VDhLxr4DA http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=uq767S0B27GiYCW0UHa_jw#fTIWhBXDfLZ_JVNfcLpCcg) some ham and cheese (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=uq767S0B27GiYCW0UHa_jw#zmanJuu-l23mdElCV_zrIw) and you can order an omelette with any combo of ham, cheese, or mushrooms (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/palo-santo-hotel-buenos-aires?select=uq767S0B27GiYCW0UHa_jw#gSKPFNt9XAsiLLZTdQxJCQ) It's right in Palermo Hollywood and easy walking to shops, restaurants, and the Palermo metro station. The staff was very friendly and responsive in dealing with a couple of issues we had (in-room safe and a/c not working).

Yelp
Absolutely loved every minute of our 6 night stay at the Palo Santo Hotel. Laura and the rest of the front desk staff were superb and very knowledgeable. Breakfast in the morning was amazing. The location is trendy and I felt safe when walking the neighborhood. Any item we needed assistance with was handled efficiently and expediently, very different from much of the service we've experienced during our 3 weeks in South America. A WELL deserved 5 stars.

Yelp
If I could write 0 stars I'd be appeased. We came here from an Air b&b for half the price and not even 2 hours in we began to feel uncomfortable. We tried to have a drink and snacks but when we asked if there was ice the person was very rude, we hung up and called back a few minutes later for room service to bring us ice, they said very rudely that it is closed, ice, ice! Frozen water was impossible to get. We eventually decided we were tired of this and went down to the front desk and found out the rude voice on the phone was Pablo. We were very angry and tried to get a refund, but they gave an excuse that was essentially that we booked it online and that they couldn't do anything about it. Ultimately, if you want to come here avoid Pablo and book it in person so when you realize how terrible the place is you can save some money, we left to that very same Air b&b (Vicente Lopez 1762, the woman who owns it is a sweetheart and is very nice). If you like to feel at home in Buenos Aires either go to her or just make sure Pablo isn't there to ruin it for you. I desperately want to like this hotel but the staff member and the rise in price and drop in hospitality was not one we enjoyed. If I hadn't been to the air b&b I may have settled for this but no. Hopefully ice becomes more available and a refund becomes more accessible because besides that the hotel was mediocre at best maybe 2 star. Please keep this as a last choice and let Pablo enjoy the hotel to himself.
