Palo Verde Biological Station

I don't recommend this place to visit. It takes about one hour to get there. You need a 4X4 SUV or truck. The road is terrible. You need a car to drive through the park. Form the entrance to the end, it is about 20 km. If the weather is not good, you don't see animals. You don't need a reservation if you want to go there by yourself. They accept only credit card. Please check the home page. If the weather condition is bad, they close the gate.

Amazing place to visit if you crave for wild animals watching. We’ve seen 80% of whole animals we’ve seen in Costa Rika just in this place. Crocodiles, yes this is the place to look for them, just 2km away there is a river, with many of these creatures The staff were incredible, helped us with my broken bicycle, got us food, gave us tips when and where to see animals. It was an experience to dine with rangers. I would definitely recommend this place to visit if you’re in Costa Rika.

Our family of 4 ( ages 3 & 5 plus two adults) enjoyed a one night stay here on a Monday in mid-February. We appeared to be the only tourists on site. We’d visited the OTS La Selva station many years ago and loved it. This site is much smaller and more intimate. Meals were delicious. We saw tons of birds, peccary, howler monkeys, and lots of iguanas. We were surprised to discover that there were no mosquitos or any other flying insects to worry about in the middle of the dry season. Be prepared for a 40 minute bumpy drive to reach the station. Also bring cash to gain admission to the park itself as the credit card machine was broken when we arrived. In Feb 2022 it was $12 per adult per day, half that for our two kids. Note that staying over for one night counts as two days no matter what time you arrive and leave. This is a real biological research station that is not at all glamorous or touristy. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll love it!

Fairly basic accommodations, but it puts you right in the heart of this fantastic national park. The food is surprisingly good!

Nice place to stay, good food, but totally bare bones. Don't expect much.

Muy bonito lugar para desconectarse. Varios senderos de poca dificultad. Las habitaciones están bien y se puede contratar la comida. Excelente para la observación de aves. El precio de ingreso, hospedaje y alimentación es bastante bajo.

Excelente lugar,los cuartos y baños están bien y literal se ven demasiados animales por todos lados

Excelente servicio, las habitaciones son muy cómodas con ventiladores y mosquiteros. Los baños son decentes y la comida es deliciosa.
