This hotel has potential, but at its current price point, the value doesn’t fully match what you get.
The rooms do not have a mini fridge, hair dryer, or coffee maker, which I found inconvenient. I understand the sustainability concept, but for this price, those feel like basic amenities that should be included. A small gesture like a welcome drink would also go a long way.
The property is very small, and at times it feels like there is a lot of staff standing around rather than improving the guest experience. Parking is also very limited, which can be an issue.
Another major downside: the hotel is under construction, and this is not disclosed until you arrive, which felt misleading. The construction noise made it hard to relax, and the price should really be adjusted while this is ongoing. There was also no music during the first few days due to construction.
The day beds by the beach are reserved for day-pass guests, when they should really be prioritized for hotel guests. The pool area lacks privacy, as it faces the bar and restaurant, and to access the beach you have to walk through people dining, which is awkward. A separate area for staff meetings or corporate guests would help keep common areas more comfortable.
Food-wise, the breakfast was delicious and a highlight of the stay. Overall, the food is very good; however, the menu is currently very limited, and they also run out of certain menu items from time to time, likely due to current constraints. Additionally, the food and cocktail prices are higher than in the U.S., which was surprising.
The service is the strongest part of this hotel. The staff is genuinely kind and attentive. Special thanks to Dagoberto and Adrián at the gate for being very helpful, and to Isaac and Edwin in the restaurant for their excellent attention to detail, remembering our names, and quickly attending to our needs. They truly deserve recognition. Service can be slow at times, but that’s common throughout El Salvador.
In summary, the hotel has a lot of potential. I would consider returning once construction is complete and improvements are made, but at the moment, the experience doesn’t fully justify the price.
Mi highlight of the stay was the Hotel mascot we named him Gardfield even tho he has a name but we forgot 😅
