Great place to stop, Smell The Roses🌹, Look At The Clouds & take in the view. Especially if you're on a Sportbike, which I was. (Yamaha R1). Pictures attached of one of my favorites to ride & which was a rental from my Brother from Another Mother, Jeff Marchesani. If you're reading this Jeff, Take Care & I love ❤️ you, Brother ❣️ Don't forget your prayers & to feed the poor. Best Regards from The Baddest Doctor Around.

Great views of shoreline and a perfect spot to watch the sunset

Google
This is hands down my all-time favorite short concise getting fresh air hike. It is close to the South Bay and the views are spectacular. It is just like you're in Ireland or the south of France or on the alphamali coast I. Europe. Trust me on this one coming on if you have the opportunity to get on this short hike you will not be disappointed. It is worth every minute ❤️😀

Beautiful views of the shoreline. The scenic drive there is great, hidden gem.

Awesome view and beautiful place.

Google
The sunset here is absolutely amazing! There’s a pretty steep but short rope trail you can take to get down to the beach. It was so much more fun than the actual walking trail. It wasn’t very crowded when we went on a Wednesday night. We had the whole rock area to ourselves at the bottom of the trail. You’ll see tons of birds, snails and crabs in the tide pools. Definitely worth a quick stop if you find yourself in southern LA.

Google
Beautiful weather when we visited on a Sunday early afternoon. The sea breeze, view, and short hike were just what we needed on the Memorial Day weekend. Wish I had stayed later to see the sunset!

Google
Me & my youngin went on mother's day to do a little rock hounding on the beach...got some really cool ones! The trail down is short & easy/moderate. Will go again

Yelp
The Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline spot is a perfect spot to watch the sunset. My in-laws live in the area and every time I pass by the cliffs, the view is absolutely breathtaking. It's beautiful all day but even more beautiful during sunset time. You'll see tons of people stop on the side of the road or at the shoreline area to sit and enjoy the sunset or to take photos. If you're ever in the area and it's close to sunset time, definitely check it out. It's definitely worth it.

Yelp
I love these trails and beautiful scenery. Easy walk for my 12 year old German Shepard and plenty of trash cans! Definitely recommend a good walk any time of the day.

Yelp
I LOVE it up here; it is a perfect date spot to hike and picnic at. This is everything the park on the other end of the peninsula isn't! There's ample parking, seats, trails, etc. Not to mention the drive up itself is lovely. This is the shortest review I've ever written- the view speaks for itself!
google avatar

Patti S.

Yelp
Loads of people and trash everywhere Hard to park and dog feces wherever you want to put down your blanket.. at least I hope dog feces Did I say it's super hard to get there too? Locals are nasty and bike riders everywhere! Do yourself a favor and walk along the Esplanade in Torrance/Redondo. There's parking, places to eat, drink and bathrooms!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Mrs G's favorite place in the LA region and LA is her favorite city in California. She got hooked on LA and Palos Verdes in particular has been a go to stop every time we visit for 27 years now. The views and the nearby restaurants plus Mother Nature and sunshine!
google avatar

Yelp
Palos Verdes Estates are simply awe-inspiring! The cliffs and scenery here are out of this world. Every angle seems to look like a postcard... I would confidently say it's one of the top 10 lookouts of the country. Definitely worth the visit. Make sure you save some time to smell the flowers.

Yelp
This was such a beautiful hike with views of the cove, city, and ocean. There was parking along Palos Verdes Dr. The shoreline hike is a simpler hike. I walked that on my way back. I actually started off on the Apsley Trail, starting at the intersection of Palos Verdes Dr and Apsley. The Apsley Trail gives you views of the cove from higher up. It is a steeper hike but I think well worth the view. Fairly short about 2 miles. And then I cheated and instead of taking the trail back down I popped out at the top of the trail and walkes thru the residential streets to come down shoreline. Very peaceful hike with beautiful views. On a clear day you can also see the DTLA skyline.

Yelp
I went to this park on a Friday around noon with my husband and our dogs. We saw plenty of parking along the street. A small parking lot is available as well. Parking is free. The walking trail is just along the shoreline, and the view is just breathtakingly beautiful. There are no fences or gates, so make sure you hang onto your toddlers! The incline and decline on the trail is mild and easy to handle. I would definitely classify this as an easy, scenic walk... unless you're looking the the swings mentioned in other reviews. Now, for the most important part... why didn't anyone mention seeing the foxes in this park?! We bumped into TWO foxes on our stroll! At first, I thought my eyes were tricking me, but my husband and I both saw the same thing on two different segments of our walk! I immediately texted my brother who visited this park a few months earlier, and he confirmed that the foxes can be regularly seen here. Make sure you keep your dogs leashes - to prevent them from getting hit by getting hit bar cars, prevent them from chasing the foxes, and prevent the foxes from biting your little yappy dog (I have a yappy little dog)! :)

Yelp
If you haven't been here just to enjoy the view then your missing out. Just remember, you are in a residential area so be courteous of your surroundings. There's parts that your could park along the cliff and enjoy. Some have trails that you could hike down to the bottom where the water and tide pools are. Also, the surfing seems to be good as there was loads of them in the water. Just be cautious as hiking down and up can be dangerous. Enter at your own risk. We just took a drive along the bluff and pulled over to enjoy the view. Sunset was amazing as you have the full View of the ocean along with the sun glistening along the water. There was a good amount of people also enjoying it. People were having picnics as well. G does get pretty busy during the weekend so parking can be limited. But worth the sunset view.

Yelp
Absolutely adore this haven! Picture-perfect beauty meets serene tranquility. Behold billion-dollar vistas while conquering an exhilarating trail fit for an adventurous out-and-back run. The icing on the cake? Uninterrupted views of the winding road - a pure adrenaline rush! What's not to fall head over heels for?
google avatar

Yelp
So amazing. Walking, sitting, whatever your cup of tea it's great. No playground but lots of room to roam and explore or sorted out and relax a while. Most people are courteous and don't post up right on you but there are the rude ones who just seem to have to be right where you are when there is literally miles of coast line cliffs to enjoy. Never ceases to amaze me. The views and the people. Fun to people watch and take a snack and book and relax or do some yoga. Parking is plenty on week days but school in and out makes it crowded at those times and on weekends. Some like to drive it some walk , run and I believe there are classes up there from time to time. Fitness, art etc. Maybe some clubs meet there as well. People go down to surf. I've often watched my husband and kids surf there.

Yelp
While i was searching the internet for a place to relax i found this place. I am so amazed. What a secret spot that you will never believe exists near LA. When you arrive you basically feel like you are in some sort of a tropical island. Take a blanket, cup of coffee and just enjoy the view. Yo can thank me later. It has a breath taking view and i suggest everyone to visit.

Yelp
I came across this place after looking for a place I wanted to take my wife too. I'm so glad I chose this place. We both loved the view. This place just looks so amazing seeing the cliff side and the ocean off in the distance. The water is so clear and pretty. It really puts your mind at ease. If you haven't gone here you definitely should. And on the bright side I got a lot of good photos and video from my drone here too!

Yelp
Time to confess. So I didn't hike the "Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline" hike per se. If you know me, I'm adventurous AF - so when I heard about the secret swings across the street from this trailhead, that is where I wanted to hike to yesterday afternoon, Saturday, January 2, 2021. There's a dirt pathway at Palos Verdes + Apsley Road, just a few hundred feet south of PV Estates Shoreline trailhead. You can park on Palos Verdes. After you park, take the dirt path up to the first swing. Apparently there are 3 swings, but I could only find 2. So, it looks like I'll be going back to find the 3rd one. Anyone want to go? =) The first swing is hidden behind red slack lines at a canopy. It's a circular shaped swing that is about 10 feet off the ground. We found an old plastic chair which definitely helped getting on the swing. But you may actually need someone to help you up and down. Once you're on the swing, the views of the horizon, ocean + cliffs are absolutely breathtaking. The second swing is a bit further up the trail and is more a traditional swing. Getting on it isn't so bad, but once you're on, you're literally out there. What I mean by that is, you'll need someone to reel you in with the rope slack otherwise you'll just be hanging out in space. Lol. Yes, it's a bit terrifying but the gorgeous views are so worth it. Embrace your "inner child." =) I can't even put into words how amazing and exhilarating it feels to swing here... and the views. The hike itself is really easy - a little incline, but doable. I'd say it's a total of 1.5 miles round trip, if that. If you love swings, adventure + ocean views, I highly recommend this secret - well, not so secret now - hike.

Yelp
Quick hike to some stunning views of the ocean / cove on a clear day. Parking is available along the street (but be prepared to quickly parallel park when you see an open spot). There used to be a "secret swing" at one of the trees but that was taken down when we went hiking (March 2021). However, the way getting there was pretty steep so in a way, it's good that it wasn't there to tempt me into accidentally taking a tumble in pursuit of an aesthetic Instagram post. The path is narrow and unmarked, but clearly defined. At the top, you'll reach the neighborhood where it's all road to go back down (should you decide to take a loop). Otherwise, you can just turn right back and head back to the beginning of the trail. There are no sidewalks in the neighborhood but there were a fair amount of joggers out and about. Wear sturdy hiking boots so you don't slip as the ground is a bit moist. Overall the hike is a hidden gem with some really gorgeous views of the ocean.

Yelp
Beautiful place for a nice hike with great views of the ocean and bluffs! We parked at the small parking lot in a residential area at the Golden Cove Trail on Google Map. From there we walked to Point Vicente Lighthouse and Pelican Cove Park. From the parking lot, it was about 1.3 miles to the lighthouse and another 0.5 miles to Pelican Cove Park.
google avatar

Vanya B.

Yelp
Beautifuk sunset views The parking is sma bus accessible. Plenty vast space for activities. It's a wide open air perfect for photos videos.
google avatar

Doreen M.

Yelp
There are so many look out points in this area. Some have great hiking trails, some are slivers of land, some have enough land to picnic, and some are right within neighborhoods more secluded that setting up camp might be a bit odd. All are so pretty that even getting a breath of fresh air and to take pix is fun just to enjoy the view for a few minutes.

Yelp
Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve stretches, along the ocean bluffs, from the area called lower Malaga Cove thru the area known as lower Lunada Bay. When I'm heading to or from the grocery store, bank, etc. I often can't resist taking the oceanfront route. Going south on Palos Verdes Drive West, I turn off onto Paseo Del Mar at the overlook. Going north I turn on Paseo Lunado to Paseo Del Mar. Along Paseo Del Mar there are many small parkland spaces in the residential area. There's unlimited free street parking on Paseo Del Mar & rarely many cars or people - except for locals walking dogs & a handful of passing cyclists. Today, Saturday, the blue skies drew me in to my ocean route. Seas the day. I stopped at Paseo Del Mar & Epping Road with my camera. All I could hear was the sound of the surf far below. Pinch me, is this real or am I dreaming? I get to live here? Almost 20 years ago I got tired of the brutal Chicago winters so I hopped a plane headed west. I had a vision of an endless summer with clear blue skies, vast blue ocean waters, palm trees, bright-colored flowers, warm sand between my toes & photo ops everywhere. Found it.

Yelp
Such a beautiful hike. Not too long, you can see the ocean and feel the breeze. there's plenty of places to park.

Trey B.

Yelp
Went here for my first date with my girlfriend. What an amazing place. On a clear sunny day there's nothing like it. Colors, views and the Pacific Ocean. And a bunch of holding hands
google avatar

Patrick B.

Yelp
Amazing place for a hike or short run on the trail. I do love this place and how amazing the views are from this location. There's parts that you could park along the cliff if you choose not to hike or walk. Some trails do lead down to the water and you have breathtaking views in front of you. Great place to just relax and enjoy the beautiful views. The oceanfront view is the best thing and you can really feel a sense of being calm.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous path along the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean! I stumbled upon the shoreline preserve while looking up a good spot to talk my dog and this area couldn't have been more perfect. Good amount of parking and stunning views from just about anywhere on a sunny day. Highly recommended!

Yelp
One of my favorite places to take couples for an engagement session. Golden hour really shines bright here and illuminates the surrounding area to reveal all the natural colors! There is much to play with here, from the wild flowers to the trees, highly recommend!

Yelp
I'm am proud to say, I have been coming to the Preserve (and not knowing what it was called or for that matter, what it was) for many years!! Since (good God) 1999, yuppers, it's always been an experience!! This is a place where you can definitely get away from the noise of the city, it makes you feel like your not in Los Angeles. Views are to die for; Romantic; a place to collect thoughts; a place to gain inspiration; did I already mention the views?; it's like...magic (Ok, maybe exaggerating on that last one) but it's an experience, if your the romantic type) and I am! I've seen people sitting there reading a book, I've seen many a couples, that's a given! I've seen someone painting on canvas, I've seen a couple sitting on chairs w/tiny wooden dinner tray w/fine wine and cheese & grapes - being themselves! Yes, this is the place to feeling compelled to being spur of the moment! Anything (within reason people) goes! All of a sudden your inspired to be something you always wanted to be, if mood moves you - creatively! i use to drive out here from Yucaipa (San Berdoo County) just to have peace in those trying times! It was worth it! I'd bring a couple of camping chairs, an igloo full of drinks & food and my girls - after they graduated (maybe my youngest was still in HS)....and make it a day! And if not doing the "hang out thing" it's definitely good place to go when you just want to walk out things that are on your mind. It's a luxury that the residing residents have; it's a treasure that the rest of us have when we go visit; please be kind and respectful of this privilege. Don't give the residents a reason to complain and/or city imposes restrictions or fees. Romantico!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. People como here to hear the sound of the waves, relax, take a deep breath, also take pictures and some go hiking too. Not my case. Lol. You can also go to the Terranea Resort and have a sweet treat or a drink. If you want to go to spend the night at the resort it will cost you around $500 per night without taxes. Enjoy the view!!!
google avatar

I-Lin L.

Yelp
Gorgeous views of the coast, easy flat trail to walk along. No barrier though, so if you are afraid of heights, then you might not want to walk too close along the edge.
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
Bring your chair, an umbrella and just relax! You can also bring your dog and a picnic. It's a nice place for some mindfulness. I saw some couples here, and a couple of families picknicking. A local came by and said hello and even welcomed me and my dog to PV! Parking can be tough for bigger cars. Luckily I found a parking on the side of the road. Drive slow and pick a spot. Be patient with other drivers trying to park as well.
google avatar

Zochi F.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this great place with my hubby and kids. We were driving down Sepulveda and decided to take a detour. I'm glad we did. We would have never discovered this place. I was taken back by the views. Nature can be so beautiful! Parked the car. Went walking by the cliffs. I unfortunately had heels and was upset that I had worn them but was able to walk it. Just had to be very careful. My boys went very close to the edge and I was freaking out! Nothing happened but I was just taken back how beautiful the views looked. Can't wait to really hike around and explore.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
We hiked around here. It's a cool spot to tool around, legally fly a drone, fly a kite, let you dog play in the water, surf. It's not a nice beach spot. It's all rocks and smells like fish. Beautiful views. Nice place to chill. Apparently it's a good spot to find crabs and lobsters cause the shells were all over.
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Nice trail with ocean views, but not a very long nor difficult. Dog friendly There's a small lot to park in, there's only one trail (Blufftop trail) so I don't think that parking will ever be full here, even on a weekend. I happened to go on a really foggy day so I couldn't see much unfortunately, but I could hear the ocean and I imagine it must be gorgeous when you can see. Doing the whole trail and back (it ends at residential) is about 1.5 miles. Mainly flat (dirt) very very minor uphill parts coming back from the parking lot. Nothing exercise worthy here (unless you are a runner I suppose). Overall beautiful trail, especially if you live there, but there are better reserves with more trails in them that are more worth trying than this one.
google avatar

Yelp
A city with the word "Estates" in the name - a city of big beautiful houses... also the former home of Chester Bennington. A clean and sharp beach - breathtaking when at the ocean shoreline - it wakes you up, and to me, is a source of mild anxiety. Rolling hills and some sharp, chiseled cliff hillsides that were violently created through the process that is erosion. Big waves crash like clockwork. Take in the views and practice your yoga poses - traditionally those are better done in nature rather than in a little man made room. A great place to hike and take in the salty fishy ocean smell. I've spent some time in one of the estates near this beach too. The most beautiful house ever and views due to the elevation. Somehow, all of Los Angeles, and New York for that matter, I get this feeling of being a lost dot on a piece of paper of infinite size. I believe Mr. Bennington may have felt the same thing or perhaps Logics new depressing song that is omnipresent on the radio these days pushed him over the edge - doing the opposite of what it was supposed to do. Logic's song is worse than the worst song ever: "Queen of the Supermarket" by Bruce Springstein. They need to pull Logic's song off the shelf like bad milk. Don't know if thats possible though at this point. I much prefer a beach that is peaceful - one of the best is Lake Tahoe. Gradually the beach drops, rounded river rocks. Gentle waves.... the lake and city is small enough you won't feel like a dot - you may even feel important - if not walk into Harrahs and use your Platnium players reward card and cut the line at the buffet... or get a really cool self inking stamp.
google avatar

Elwood S.

Yelp
Easy access to the trail which runs maybe a mile back and forth along the cliffs. Hiking is very easy. There is beach access for the more adventurous but trail to the bottom is very steep and not advisable when wet (there are no rails to keep you from falling to the rocks below).
google avatar

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
Great little trail! I went with my dog. It was a little crowded but due to the current situation, everyone was very courteous in making sure that there was enough space between each hiker. Nothing sloping unless you try going down to the beach. If you stay on the beaten path, you should be on pretty flat terrain. My dog had a great time, sniffing the plants and exploring nature. The good thing about the trail was that there were plenty of areas for you to stop and take in the view while distancing yourself from oncoming hikers. I highly recommend if you are looking for a beginner trail with a beautiful view.

Yelp
You know why places like this get such great ratings? It's the natural positive impact being here has on your senses and wellbeing. And it's free! Just being closer to the ocean or any large body of water is therapeutic and something we're drawn to instinctively. Take the ocean waves for instance; research shows (doesn't that sound official?) that the sound of waves alters wave patterns in the brain lulling you into a deeply relaxed state (always liked that word "lulling"). You ever notice you sleep better after spending the day at the beach or along the shore? Sure part of the reason is because you've been out all day but part of it is because of the sea air. Sea air is charged with healthy negative ions that accelerate the absorption of oxygen. Negative ions also balance levels of seratonin, a body chemical linked with mood and stress. Another positive benefit of being around water is that it gives our brains and senses a rest from the constant overstimulation of day to day life. When you're out here, the sound around you is simplified. It's not quiet, but the sound of the ocean is far more simple than that of the voices, music, traffic and other sounds that fill your day. And when you stand and look out on the horizon, the visuals allow you to take a break from the information overload we've become accustomed to. It doesn't get crowded here and there's always somewhere to park. Wear your hiking shoes and head out. Give your brain some downtime.

Yelp
Plenty of free street parking on Palos Verdes Drive. It's basically a swath of asphalt along the cliff for people to walk or jog along and hang out. Not great scenery for landscape photography.
google avatar

Jen N.

Yelp
For years, I heard about how beautiful Palos Verdes is. I had seen countless photos of the place and always admired how gorgeous it is. Fortunately, I finally made my way out here this past weekend and it is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to. We drove through the area on a random trip going north along the coast, eventually landing in Manhattan Beach. It was cool seeing the sea on the drive there, and I decided we should drive back towards San Pedro using Palos Verdes Drive as well to see the scenery once more. We stopped a few times to look out at the ocean and check out the cliffs. Unbelievably breathtaking. No words describe it enough. It's great that we stood on the cliffs during sunset, so everything looked just as wonderful.

Lala O.

Yelp
This is a very nice place to visit, especially when the wildflowers are blooming! We enjoyed our visit. Just be wary be of "photographer" who tends to frequent when the flowers are blooming. He thinks he owns the place. He was very aggressive towards my family and other family who were trying to take photos.
google avatar

Mary N.

Yelp
There is street parking along Paseo Del Mar. I came here on a foggy day and it was still very scenic and beautiful.
google avatar

Zach S.

Yelp
Top Notch. Great dog location for dogs off leash. sshhh! dont tell anyone. Great trail and ocean views. some spots you have to be wary of the glass for paws but overall really really nice.

Jaime C.

Yelp
Great place to go and relax. I went and spent 3 hours there and I left tired and happy. I got my cardio for the day as well as beautiful scenery.
google avatar

M Y.

Yelp
Breathtaking! Best place to chill, medidate, drink your coffee or just go to clear your head!
google avatar

Johnny G.

Yelp
A beautiful area that we were only recently very lucky to have discovered on our walks. The beautiful scenery that's basically our backyard was just waiting for us to find it. I recommend a leisurely 3 mile walk to enjoy the spectacular views, as well as the amazing houses that share the locale. Spectacular. Just what the doctor ordered; nature in it's glory.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
A beautiful spot to sit and watch the ocean and appreciate nature. A lot of people have discovered this spot but it's big enough where you can still have your own space even when it's busy. There are also a couple of trails to the bottom if you really want your own space. Careful with parking in the lot past 9, cops come and ticket you.
google avatar

Kiara G.

Yelp
This place has to be on my Top 5 Scenic Routes list. From the views and sounds of the ocean to the neighborhood all around. Phenomenal!
google avatar

Megan V.

Yelp
This location is aces for date night. And it's not overdone. We try to find places that haven't been overrun with people so this is great.
google avatar

Jasmine A.

Yelp
Great view of the sunset. Very peaceful and not over crowded. My boyfriend and I love this beach, the view of the shoreline and cove is amazing.
google avatar

Tracy K.

Yelp
Beautiful views. Its a great workout. You don't realize how far you've gone because your are so focused on the Beautiful views. There are lot of people and dogs and everyone is super friendly and supportive no matter how many times I have to stop on the way back up. Down at the very bottom the are cave and you can cool you feet in the sand. Beautiful.
google avatar

Kandi H.

Yelp
Best place to catch the sunset! There's a nice mile long trail that runs along the cliffs. Steep trails lead down to the water and is frequented by surfers. Avoid this place after a rainstorm, the PV clay-mud will cake to your shoes!
