20 Best Culinary Experiences and Food Tours in Paris

"Although Paname Brewing Company was started by Michael Kennedy of the expat bar The Moose, this microbrewery stands out thanks to its historic location: an old granary along the banks of the Bassin de la Villette. Be sure to sample the craft beers from Paname’s brewers—on a recent visit, there were as many of 11. There’s a pub menu of wacky pizzas, burgers, the standard cheese and charcuterie plates, and less expected options like shrimp curry." - Catherine Down, Lindsey Tramuta

A place to experience/taste when you visit Paris/this district. Very Tasty Unique beers. A relaxed and no-nonsense atmosphere. Always cozy and with taste. ----------------------------- Update from my may 2025 visit : This was The tastiest Bavette Ever. Seriously. With as always, refined beers. An Always necessary stop when I'm in the area. Go Enjoy !!

Google
A lucky find whilst on a business trip. Tucked away a gem of a bar restaurant. The atmosphere is buzzing even on a Monday or Tuesday evening. They brew thier own beer and have a great selection of others. The bougionjon brisket is fantastic. On the second visit I was remembered and welcomed very warmly. Have a great visit if you have the chance

Google
Wandered in, 5 adults and 1 toddler, very friendly staff who welcomed us in and found seats, had some excellent food quickly served, and the beers were fantastic too. Glad we made the effort to come here, really enjoyed it.

Google
Nice river side bar and restaurant. Good own beers on tap and a tasty food menu. Large amounts of outdoor seating under cover. Enjoyed the IPA and fish & chips.

Google
Cool place to get French craft beer! Cool vibe, wonderful location, and easy to find. Something for all types of beer lovers!

Google
The best pizza in Paris is from here. It’s American ‘bar pizza’ style, and they’ve really nailed it. Get the pepperoni 🍕 we’ve had it often and it’s amazing every time. It’s affordable considering the high quality. They once messed up our order and gave us free coffee and offered fries as an apology - very, very nice people work here.

Chris Newbury

Google
Lovely place on the canal, brewery inside so plenty local drinks ipas etc. had a pepperoni pizza and my mum had fish and chips. Lovely place, great staff. Can sit inside or outside.

Adam

Google
They shouldn’t drown a margarita pizza in olive oil rendering it soggy. It was really disappointing. Chef should let customer decide if they want to smother what would’ve been a good pizza in olive oil. Otherwise , atmosphere is nice.

Yelp
Like another reviewer wrote, it is a hidden gem. Decent food and good beers. Atmosphere gets a 5 out of 5. Love drinking where the locals are living well. Right on the river and 20 mins from CDG.

Yelp
Just as good as it was three years ago, the staff is super friendly and the manager spent a lot of time talking with us. It's so convenient. It's right across the s Canal from the Holiday Inn we stay at here in Paris.m

Yelp
Fun atmosphere right on the water with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. With my peanut allergy giving me more scares in the last year, I'm always thankful when a server not only checks my order with the chef but double checks the severity of my allergy for awareness. The tacos were bursting with flavor as was the half pint! My only recommendation would be to lightly fry the tortillas so they hold together better....but good tacos eaten with a fork are still good tacos!

Yelp
Great spot! Very friendly people. Great spot to kill time, one of the ladies helping me was very sweet.

Yelp
This was the best part of our day. Stopped by for lunch and to be able to eat outside by the canal. The staff were so terrific and welcoming of us and we appreciated that. The food was AMAZING. I highly suggest going here. I personally don't drink beer but everyone said that was good too.

Yelp
I enjoy the local brew scene wherever I visit. This brewery is no exception, in the 13 arr, it sits alongside a canal. The views are gorgeous in the evening. Not to be outdone, the food and beer here is excellent. The beer tenders speak English and are very helpful for sampling. Definitely a good spot to visit in Paris!

Peter R.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem along the canal in Paris. Forget the Seine. Head over to this blissful waterway and enjoy locally crafted beer among the buzz of real Parisians. Not many tourists find the spot. Please don't tell anyone because this place is a hidden gem and we want to keep it that way!

Yelp
I came by Panama Brewing Company mid-week during lunch. I was a little early for the lunch rush, which allowed me time to chat with the bartender and grab a table at the window. It's really peaceful to lookout over the canal. If the weather is nice, there is plenty of seating outside too. When it does it busy, it gets loud. Larger groups can reserve tables too. Once you grab a table, scan the QR code to get the beer and food menu. Then you'll go up to the bar to order. Remember your table number because they will need that to bring your food. I wasn't sure what beer I wanted, and the bartender was patience letting me sample a few different beers and making suggestions on which ones I might like. I ended up with a pint of the casque d'Or. I also ordered the beef tacos. The tacos were a perfect size for lunch and really tasty. Panama Brewing Company is also dog friendly. During my visit a well behaved Shiba Inu was sitting a few tables over from me and I had no idea until it left with its human.

Yelp
There was no service. We had to go inside to order at the bar. It said on the website they were open to 2 pm but when many of us poured in after our Olympic events they said then stopped serving by 11 pm. They only had large chocolate cookies to eat. At least they were freshly baked and good. We were all starving and disappointed. The outside serving staff completely ignored us. The bartender inside was very helpful and friendly. He was the highlight of the beer was mediocre and tasted watered down. When I came back outside after we ordered a beer some security started demanding we all pour our beers to plastic cups and leave. This was around 11:30 pm. Terrible experience. Schedule serving staff around big event hours. This place needs an overhaul in every way other than the bartender. No reason to go near this place again.

Yelp
My favorite brewery In Paris, imho. Great view just off the patio right on the lake. We were welcomed in with a boisterous voice and greeted with smiles! They could tell we were not parisians yet welcomed us warmly! They actually thought we were from another part of Europe, not sure why this was our second time being mistaken for foreigners of a place we are not. Interesting, perhaps bad at accents not sure. So after we took a look at the menu options we headed to the bar to order and pay. The cooks were steadily popping out the dishes from the kitchen window! We ordered a few things Charcuterie the meat was divine!!! Basic pizza was mmm okay I don't think we would have ordered again not a fan of cornmeal crust. And a fish and chips was spot on! The fish was delicious and the chips were crispy! Overall I'd come back! Great service good food! Great atmosphere!

Yelp
Will return. Great view from an old warehouse, on the banks of the Bassin de la Villette. Reportedly, it's the largest artificial body of water in Paris. Good food and decent service. Graffitis & Lou Reed ~ Beers ~ Eat and nap ~ Why not?!

Yelp
Service only at the bar. Always a line. Bartender spoke English, French, & German. Hallumi cheese was good. Husband liked the beers. Made in house

Yelp
This quickly became one of my all time favorite breweries. Last week we visited Paris and being brewery enthusiasts we had to stop by and check out paname . I read so much reviews and must see things about it so we ventured by. We were seated outside on the floating patio on the river which has very cool tables, we ordered some beers and a charcuterie plate and it came with very generous portions . As a little rain set in we moved inside and got to see a really cool area with tons of seating and a great vibe, even sat near the barrels that use for brewing. THe bathrooms were really neat to me and had some really cool decor . Overall do yourself a favor and stop by this place, the area and vibe is amazing and service was super quick and friendly. Plus it's on the river I mean come on :) cheers!

Yelp
Beer in Paris! A great patio on the canal away from the highly touristed sections of the city. And they were playing American music which for some reason I really loved. Bruce Springsteen blasting on the speakers. I had a black IPA. It had the look of a guiness, and the taste of one with also the taste of an IPA. SOOOO good. My friend had the beer of the day. I forget what it was called, but it was also so good. They have pub food you would expect at breweries in Northern Cali, pizza, burgers, fries. But we chose a very french plate to share. A chartreuse plate full of delicous meats and cheeses. So good. I recommend this place if you had enough wine, lol, not possible in Paris, but... Great beer and excellent location. I can't wait to come back next time I travel to Paris.

Yelp
Nice view on the river & friendly service, where everyone spoke great English! (Sorry for the tourists that don't speak more than one language aka me). Korean ramen - crevettes/shrimp - while not the best ramen I've had, it was pretty good. Plus a nice bowl on a cold, winters day is a perfect fit anytime. There were 4 shrimp, the broth was tasty, plenty of (thicker) noodles, a few beans, a few big mushrooms (I prefer mine cute up), and then of course the icing on the cake was the egg. This was a total of 16 EUR. You order at the bar and tell them your table number. Again - friendly & fast!

Yelp
Nice beers and great selection. The food was varied and delicious. Service was helpful and quick. Great find!! Cool casual environment.

Yelp
On our first night in Paris, despite being jet lagged, we made our way to Paname Brewing Company to enjoy the beautiful evening and have a drink. The place was absolutely crowded but we managed to grab a table on the patio, overlooking the canal. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating - with an indoor and outdoor bar serving beer. They have a variety of small plates, BBQ, and entrees. We opted for a small charcuterie board to accompany our beers, since we weren't too hungry. The charcuterie board was tasty and the perfect amount for 2 people. As for the beers, I ordered their sour ale and my boyfriend got their black IPA. I thought the sour was tasty although it is not nearly as strong as the sour beers I am used to. My boyfriend thought the same of the black IPA. My biggest qualm was the fact that the bartenders pretty much ignored us whenever we approached the bar. I'm assuming they could tell we were not from Paris and therefore they chose to serve all of the other local customers first. Other than that, a cool spot to hang and grab a beer.

Yelp
I can only give it 4 stars because we didn't try enough food. We had some great tasting beer, and then one that was less exciting. Overall, the beers were interesting. For food, we only got the cheese and charcuterie board, but it had ridiculous portions. Even as Americans, the amount of meat and cheese was intense (do not take this as a complaint!). Maybe it was meant for more than two people?

Yelp
Visited during my spring break and was so impressed! Great location on the water and has a nice hipster vibe to it. The staff was very friendly and the food was so yummy. Would highly recommend the delish food and yummy drinks. Forgot the name of the drink i got but it was a spritz with with saint Germaine and the pizza was spicy and sooooo good! A must visit in Paris

Yelp
We found a brewery. On a canal! As you can probably imagine, France is more wine-centric when it comes to adult beverages. While I enjoy wine fine, especially wine in France, I was ready for a change of pace. They had two IPA options - the Bete Noire (Black IPA) and Barge Du Canal (IPA). I preferred the Barge one. We were there mid-afternoon, so the kitchen was closed. There was the option of charcuterie or pizza. We split the margarita pizza, which was quite tasty. They've got a nice, laid back environment, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It started to get busy after work time.

Yelp
Came to this place late at night with some friends looking for a good place to eat and have a few drinks. For 10:00 pm it was pretty busy but nonetheless we found good seats outside for 8 people and a great view of the water. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Burger which honestly was my FAVORITE meal in Paris. Everything else in the city is either overpriced, not tasty OR filling!! The burger was massive and was accompanied with some fries that were just enough salty and just enough cooked. I tried the Barge du Canal IPA which was so good I had to order another one. The inside and outside of the place had a hipster feel to it, just like the staff. To order food, you go inside and place your order with the staff, and then a waiter brings your food to your table. I ordered from a very friendly skinny hipster guy with longer brown hair, but one of my friends ordered from a lady with very short blonde hair who apparently was very rude and sassy. My friend ordered a salad which the blonde girl said they ran out of, so my friend had to look for something else on the spot, but the bartender/blonde girl rudely commented "order when you are ready" and proceeded to take someone else's order. Stay away from her. From what it seemed the entire staff knew both French and English which was very helpful. There was a last call for drinks, and something really cool that one of the bartenders did was to go around handing out plastic cups to anyone who still had beer in their pints so you could take the beer to go. I hope to return to this place if I am ever in Paris and highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have some drinks with some delicious American (homey) food.

Yelp
This place was great. Great views and good beer. Breweries are very popular in LA so I was excited to go to one in Paris. The bartender spoke English. And explained to me the different beers they have. I tried a couple. All good and then ordered a glass of my favorite. If it was closer to where I was staying I would have liked to go back more.

Yelp
Exceptional beers! I took away one star because you can't build your own flight and that was a big bummer. I would definitely recommend eating here as well, they have lots of bites or larger dishes. We were pleased with the charcuterie plate and pizza!
google avatar

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Open until 2am! Great IPA selections. Great food!! We got the jerk wings and pizza! Yummy!! Right on the canal and our hotel!!! Awesome bartenders.

Yelp
I don't really have anything new to say about this place - just that it's great and you should totally check it out! I came here my first time in Paris, and I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have more French dishes - but that makes sense since it's expat-owned. We opted for something French anyway - the large plate of mixed meats and cheeses, with bread and wine - and it was absolutely fabulous! The location is really prime - they have a terrace on the Canal Saint Martin, and it's far enough upstream (so to speak) that you can get a seat and it's not a typical tourist place (although there are a lot of expats in the clientele). We sat outside, sipped our wine while we waited for the good, and then spent a lovely hour sitting in the sun eating. We promptly received more bread when we ate up the first batch. The menu includes things like pizzas, burgers, a mean-looking Reuben sandwich, and salads, as well as plenty of beer (naturally) and wine. The staff are super friendly even if they're busy and don't have tons of time to chat. I'm not sure it'd be worth it to make the trek out there if you have no reason to go to the 19th district. But, if you're in the area then stop by - you won't regret it!

Yelp
Lovely bar right on the canal across from the St Christopher's inn backpackers. Great food and really nice place for a sunset drink, it also had a nice chilled out vibe and ambience.

Yelp
I came here alone on a chilly day. I speak very little French but the man behind the bar was very patient with me. I ordered the pizza and a flight of beer. Overall very impressed! Loved the view and vibe too!

Yelp
Reuben is the man. If you drop by PBC, he's usually behind the bar. Ask for him, meet him, tell him I said so. This bar is fortuitously located on the "Bassin de la Villette" which means that even when the day isn't quite so nice, your view will be. They have a huge patio perched above the river (sort of like a wharf) that is the perfect place to hang after work and if you're lucky, they might even have a band lined up. On June 21st for Fête de la Musique (annual music celebration), this place was slammed until closing. Their beer selection is also on point and since they are a brewery, they make everything in house. L'oeil de biche (Doe's Eye) and Bête Noire (Black beast) black IPA were my favorite beers. On this most recent visit, I also had a mojito which was good. Then, I met Reuben. I was buying shots for a friend on his birthday on top of all the other beers and drinks I was getting and I don't know what happened but Reuben decided to get me plastered. Next thing I knew, every time I went to get another round of beers, we were doing a round of shots. Reuben definitely made a lo-key Tuesday evening very interesting that night. Then the beer munchies kicked in and I decided to order some food. The cheese plate was huge (but nothing to write home about) and I needed greasy meat at this point so I ordered the pork ribs. For bar food, it was on point. So its location, sweet ass patio, awesome service, and their home brewed beers makes this place a true Parisian hipster magnet. Get here early if you're looking to get a large space for a big crowd. And if it is raining, don't worry, you will still have plenty of space inside!
google avatar

Koa H.

Yelp
Omg! Some of the best beers I've had. The Belgian trippel and saison were on point! The view of the canal isn't bad either. Went around sunset and it was perfect and uncrowded. Sun set right over the canal. Won't soon forget this awesome brewery. Picked up a shirt to be a street brand ambassador back in the U.S.!
google avatar

Yelp
A great place to enjoy great beer with bartenders that know what they are selling. Feel free ask for some tasters before you decide what to drink.
google avatar

Yelp
I´m a fan. The Moment I had a great craft beer in one hand and a terrific pulled pork taco in the other, Paname Brewing Company had won my heart. So they´ve got the food and beverage situation down, but also the location at the canal is fantastic. What you should know: during the day families with children are very welcome but come the evening, this place turns more into a loud bar.
google avatar

Yelp
Gear brewery. Peri peri burger, a bete noire and zesty ipa. All were great. Great atmosphere
google avatar

Yelp
What a cool Brewery just on the canal. Had the Pils blonde. Nice enough taste, the Pale Ale rates at 4/5 stars. What's really great is the atmosphere.

Yelp
It's good beer, upscale brewery from the States. Staff was friendly even though I didn't speak French.

Yelp
So you're in the middle of Paris and looking for a good beer? I was in the same boat as you and let me tell you that it's a surprising predicament. Too used to microbreweries and craft beer purveyors on nearly every corner back in the US. Local Parisian beer offerings tend to be the same light blond Euro crap that leaves one wholly unsatisfied. This led me to Yelp and the inter-web knowing that there must be better in this incredibly diverse "city of light..." My research pointed me some significant distance by Metro to Paname Brewing in the hopes of slaking my hoppy desires. While it seemed promising, sadly, it left this beer lover uninspired. C'est dommage ('too bad' in French). The setting is likely one that any American beer lover would recognize. A converted industrial building with big stainless tanks, taps, chalkboards and a large thirsty crowd. Unfortunately the beers we tried didn't live up to expectations. The IPA lacked a satisfying hoppy character, the saison was dull and without interest. We didn't bother with their other 'in-house' offerings. We shared a charcuterie plate which was decent. This place is very popular with Parisians. It was lively and crowded and is beautifully situated on the canal. Unfortunately for us indoor seating was impossible to come by. Since second hand smoke is not our thing we ended up leaving and going to the Troll Cafe in the 4th arrondissement. Look it up.

Niraj S.

Yelp
Had a great start to Paris here! Wonderful craft beer and a beautiful location. Helpful staff and nice crowd.

Yelp
Obviously, beers should be the focus here though they do have other options. They carry all different types (From lagers to wheat-y blonds to hoppy IPAs) so everyone should be able to find something they like. The food menu is diverse, mixing food you often find at brewpubs in New York and San Francisco (Pastrami plates, Sliders and Tacos, Guacamole, respectively) with the very French Planche mixte, piece du boucher, alongside common snack foods from everywhere else (fish and chips, mediterranean mezzas, flatbreads/pizzas). Fan of the lamb tacos (Small order comes with 3 tacos for 9 Euros, very generous with the lamb), guac was surprisingly tasty and you'd have to be an idiot to mess up a planche. The foccacia and pizza were forgettable. Order at the bar and then park yourself here for a few hours with a few friends. The best thing about this place is the space itself. There is a very nice outdoor seating along the canal which is packed when the weather is nice. Even on gray days, there is plenty of seating in the airy interior ---try to snag on near the huge windows facing the canal!

Yelp
I came with friends for beer & dinner. We sat on the terasse, which was nice, although we were too far away from the water to have a good view and there were to many smokers (which is the same on any terasse in Paris though). The dark IPA beer I ordered was tasty and they served me a pint although I only paid for a half-pint ;-) The lamb-burger was ok, nothing special though and the fries, not amazing either, too crispy and skinny. I'd come back for a beer if I am in the area, but it's not a particular destination. For food, I think I should've tried the tacos. . . they looked tasty on the table next to ours ;-) My friends had the Buffallo Ribs and loved them! Service was very fast, the waiters were very friendly and even a little chatty, which I like a lot in this type of bar.

Yelp
Took a train ride up to this side of Paris on our last day and fell in love with this restaurant/bar. Service was amazing!!!! Staff was so cool and friendly. Food was delicious (they were BBQ'ing the meats outside) and the view was OUT of this world!! Next time I'm in Paris I'm definitely going back.
google avatar

Gregg V.

Yelp
Food selection looked good, but we were there in the afternoon when they had a limited menu - only things available were pizzas and a charcuterie tray. We opted for the chorizo pizza, which was good. After seeing the charcuterie tray, I wish we would have gone that route. Beers were a bit pricy in my opinion @ around $10 US. I guess I'm used to the microbrew prices in Michigan.
google avatar

Carla R.

Yelp
The fish and chips were so good !!! The tarter sauce was yummy . I didn't have any beer because I'm not a beer person but my husband said it was really , really good .
google avatar

Lance W.

Yelp
They're open every day and even on May 1st (France's Labor Day), so that was a huge plus. The view was also incredible. It's in a more residential neighborhood and the locals flock there. The staff is really good with English though. Really happy to have found it.
google avatar

Fiona M.

Yelp
Lamb pizza and burger was delicious, even have a healthy quinoa salad option. Awesome mid week lunch spot for family and fun, pretty packed for Friday night drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
Finally a Micro-Brewery in France done right! The staff knows the products they are serving and are excited and willing to talk about them, from the hummus to the imported Galaxy hops from Australia. The beer is the best craft beer I have tasted in France and the brewer from Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany is dialed in on his craft. We even got a sneak peak of the smoked beer he is working on, a must taste if available! The menu is unique with pulled pork sandwiches, Philly cheese steaks, and funky ingredient pizzas, all perfect matches for the beer selection.
google avatar

Julien H.

Yelp
Nice spot (in or outdoor), with lot of place. Very good craft beers on tap (their own and some of other breweries). The food is ok. Barmen and barmaid are very cool. You should definitely go! !!

Pump K.

Yelp
Great food, came out reasonably fast. Only negative for me was that the food came out warm rather than hot. So it likely was waiting a long time before the waiter went to go get it. Drinks were good. Atmosphere was fantastic. I would go again if I am ever in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Meh...I was unfortunately very underwhelmed by this place. We rushed here the week of its opening to see what all the fuss was about, and I've been back a few times for a drink since cuz others wanted to check it out, but eh no. The concept of a brewpub in Paris sounds great (although it's by far not the first - frog pubs, anyone?) and you might think what could be better than craft beer with a view of the canal? Well, first of all, the prices are kinda excessive. I mean I do get the beer is homemade on the premises and it's good stuff not piss water, but you're gonna need a certain budget if you wanna drink here. The food menu is way pricy for what it is and not all that. I was disappointed by it. The staff can be kind of anal and not so helpful if you don't go up to the right line for your food or drink order. Like if there's no one at one of the lines you can't put in your order there unless it's for the specific type of order specified (food or drink). It is large and spacious, I'll give it that. But outdoor seating (which is nice) can fill up quickly, and you may be stuck with indoor seating (which is kind of dark and gloomy and sad if it's nice and sunny out). Maybe grab one drink here and for the rest do a picnic or head to 25 degres est. I have no real desire to come back here - it's more hype than legit awesomeness for me, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion so why not check it out for yourself? I'm open-minded and it's been a while since I've been back here, but I'll be sure to update if my review/opinion changes!

Yelp
Super cute spot! Great view, great beer selection, and yummy food :) this place is must when in Paris! The bartenders speak English if you have trouble with your French.
