All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had French onion soup and their pretzel appetizer to warm up from the rainy day. It was just perfect.

Google
The food was pretty decent, but the waitress was far from welcoming, which made me not want to stay. I never had a waitress interrupt me while I was eating to take the salt and pepper away, and not bring it back.... Seemed like she was In a rush to get my friend and I out, even though they didn't close for another hour.... We were never even asked once how the food was, along with the only time we were asked if we needed anything else was when she brought out the check. Needless to say I never want to go there again.

Lovely place with good service and food. I love fresh bread with butter.

Had dinner tonight, absolutely fantastic. Service was awesome and the food, ridiculous. Everything was delicious. The French onion soup was the best I ever had. I had the chicken and shrimp pesto, very good. The only bad note was the yelling baby. We go out to unwind, relax, and have pleasant evening. I don't want to hear that. Sorry. Everything else was wonderful. We will definitely go back

This place is a fantastic American restaurant! 🇺🇲 P&G's is an historic diner 🍴in New Platz at Upstate NY! 🗽 This spot serves delicious 🤤 dishes 🍽️ and large portions - definitely try the Nachos with Sour Cream and Guacamole 🥑, Burger 🍔 with Fries! 🍟 Staff 👨‍🍳 is super friendly and welcoming, service is quick ⏲️, ambience 🎶 is great, and they have plenty of indoor seating!🪑 They also have parking 🅿️ around the block. I wish I could come here more often!

Up in New Paltz again for my daughter's volleyball tournament. We always stop here for dinner when in the area. However. .it was a Friday night. It's a college town. They do Happy Hour. There was a live DJ playing oldies...and we loved it, but it was VERY LOUD!! Also...the food was not quite as good as usual...but still good. Hopefully next time we go we'll not be another Friday...

Needed a last minute place to eat while in New Paltz and got really great recommendations from locals about P&Gs, so I was really excited to try it. And they were right!!!! Felt bad because we walked in while the kitchen was closing but they did accommodate us and made us feel welcomed. Didn’t think this bar would have good food, but the south west salad was pretty good. The wings were great even though our waitress got our order incorrect but did not like our well done burger, when we asked for medium. Will be back next time I’m in town, hopefully not when the kitchen is closing.

Yelp
Love this place, BUT.... This review is mainly for their Fish & Chips. Let me start by writing that their burgers, wings, eggplant parm, salmon, and so many other things are really really good, and 5-star worthy. On a recent visit w best friend, Zagbolt, we started by ordering (and splitting) eggplant fries. Soooo good. Fresh, not frozen. Generous portion. Tip - consider getting them w horseradish sauce in addition to marinara. These are definitely 5-star worthy. For our main course, we each opted for the fish and chips. Two small, thin pieces of cod or pollock, three small breaded shrimp, some clam strips, fries, and homemade cole slaw. Below standard, in my opinion. Eggplant fries great, fish and chips not so much. 3.5 stars

Yelp
Looking for a place that doesn't just have burgers and sandwiches in new Paltz isn't easy. Happy to have found this gem. I wanted a basic grilled chicken with veggies. I ordered a wedge salad to start and chicken Marsala with sautéed spinach. The wedge salad was HUGE and so flavorful! The chicken was absolutely incredible. So fresh, hot and the flavor was spot on. The sautéed spinach was clearly made fresh. It was so good with the right amount of garlic. The wait staff was super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant itself is welcoming with various tables, booths and a bar when you walk in. The decorations are a bit dated but fun nonetheless. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
This. At has been here forever. Ok it seems like it's been here forever. The ambiance is college town pizzeria. Wait staff is friendly and the food is good. We're talking something above the standard bar food. Some of the best wings I've ever eaten were from here (just tell them well done- then they're really crispy). I don't find their chairs or benches very comfortable but I'm the only one complaining amongst my friends. Of all the "bar" restaurants in NP this is the best.

Yelp
I came here for New Years with my fiancée and friends. After being inside for just a few minutes, a man walked directly into us and immediately got aggressive and shoved me across the room. I turned and looked for security and made eye contact with a short woman in a ski mask and saw "security" on her jacket. After a few seconds, I saw she wasn't moving a muscle so I turned back around to see the man shove my fiancée then slither away into the crowd. We basically paid $20 to get assaulted and security did nothing. What a way to start the new year. I'd stick to any other place New Paltz if I were you. Plus every time I've been there for food, it's been bad too.

Yelp
When the instant mashed potatoes is the highlight of the dish, we've got problems. I liked them because they reminded me of public school. They have ants on the windowsill of the atrium. Burger rolls are stale. Red onion was old; needs to be 86ed or cut a new one. And there was no way the pulled pork sandwich was fresh. Even if it was frozen, it wasn't reheated in a way that makes it palatable. Our waitress was a pleasure. Quick service, bussed her own table. She was friendly and apologetic. I can not remember ever sending a meal back. In all my years waiting tables, I never had a manager refuse to comp a meal when the kitchen messed up. This place used to be a community staple. Now their fighting for customers as they straighten things out with their liquor license. Maybe you need to be drunk to enjoy this food. The wings were good. But those were frozen also. This place is in need of a new manager and some quality control.

Yelp
Came to P&G after a short post hike adventure while on a day trip. Despite it being a Saturday afternoon, this place wasn't incredibly packed with people. There were other clients, but there was no wait for my large party. Got the P&G burger because it has mushrooms. Generous portion sizes but not super impressed by the mushrooms on the burger. They were canned and super liquidy, so it soaked through the bun really fast. The fries were solid. Crispy exterior with enough of a soft interior, very well seasoned and not overly salted. Staff was a little scattered but we got our food and the prices were incredible. Overall a positive visit.

Yelp
One of the only true American pubs in the area. If you can snag a window seat in the front, the people watching is as good as the food . Great service 100% of the time

Yelp
This cornerstone started as a dancehall in 1900 and is still thriving. This was my first time dining and while the service was a bit slow, (we sat for awhile before being greeted) the food was exactly what we were looking for. I went with the classics and enjoyed a burger and wings. The burger was cooked perfectly and the wings were tasty and crispy. If you're in New Paltz, I'd recommend the stop. They even have weekly specials.

Yelp
A true and rare "public house" where all are welcome. Food always exceeds expectation, and the kids menu is a great deal.

Yelp
Fun family restaurant & bar. The servings were very large. ( good for another meal or snack later). We don't live in the area but would return if we happened to be in the area.

Yelp
The burgers were great! Best in town! Friendly staff. A classic American restaurant with an old school feel.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick lunch on our way to Albany. We started with the fried brussel sprouts, I was expecting them to be fried but they weren't.. just crunchy. Still good though. Chicken fingers and fries were good. We had our baby with us, and she needed a diaper change. They didn't have a changing table!! I had to go across the street to Starbucks to be able to change her so that was frustrating. Our server was nice, even got us a cup of hot water for the baby's bottle. Very casual place, kid friendly for the most part, minus no changing table.

Yelp
This place is great, my girlfriend goes to suny new paltz so we stumbled upon this place while walking on the main street. Great food, very friendly staff. Always enjoy eating here.

Yelp
Once again food and service did not disappoint me. Went I. For a late lunch last week. I had a burger fries and a beer All were just what was needed served with a smile. I'm happy to continue supporting this fine establishment

Yelp
As far as a local pub/bar setting, this place was a total win! Haven't stepped foot in the door in over 10 years and they have definitely cleaned and classed it up a bit. Went with family in tow so it was definitely family friendly on the Tuesday night we were there. Good crowd but we were seated immediately. Waitress brought a kids menu with crayons for our son as we sat down. We ordered Chicken Fingers for the boy and wings and artichoke spinach dip for apps. His fingers were piping hot, and perfect and served with fries. The wings had a crispy skin and juicy inside with a good amount of heat without taking away from flavor. The star app was the spinach/artichoke dip served with toasted pita. There were copious amounts of artichoke chunks and the dip was scalding hot, plentiful and seasoned perfectly. Tip: let it cool down a bit or spend the next 24 hours peeling the skin from the roof of your mouth. We ordered a chopped salad for her and a Reuben for me but honestly, we filled up on apps so we took most of our dinner home. No complaints yes on either entree though. Fair amount of domestic beer on tap and super attentive waitresses. Nice home town feel for a place in the middle of a college town.

Yelp
First time in New Paltz and I was looking for a place to eat and P&G's caught my eye. To commence, I ordered medium wings as an appetizer and they were quite good. The wings were crispy, juicy, and had a nice spice to them. After this, I scanned the menu and the Mack Truck Burger Melt stuck out to me. To put into words, the Mack Truck is a burger topped with macaroni cheese inside a grilled cheese sandwich. Considering this, the burger was absolutely delicious. It was juicy, flavorful, and all the cheeses came together to form a magical taste. My only complaint is that the toast was a bit soggy and greasy. In addition to this, the burger came with waffle fries which were worthy. The fries were seasoned and crispy with nice sapidity. When it's all said and done, P&G's is a good restaurant with a one of a kind item in the Mack Truck Burger Melt.

Yelp
Excellent local bar with good food. Good service, good value, good quality bar food. Always clean. Lotto and tvs. Great asset to new paltz ! Always return.
google avatar

Yelp
A New Paltz classic that deserves the title. Always get the spinach and artichoke dip. Yes it's loud, yes the food is greasy, that's the whole point.
google avatar

William M.

Yelp
Home cooked meal feel to the place. A New Paltz institution. Great food at reasonable prices. No reservations. Wait times are minimal when that happens. Pub/tavern atmosphere.
google avatar

Gillian J.

Yelp
This is such a great place. Friendly service and good food. Have been here a few times with my SUNY New Paltz kid and will definitely stay on rotation. Only sad face is they don't serve breakfast-but they DO serve what looks like a kick-ass Bloody Mary. I have to have breakfast with my bloody Mary -- I'm so torn. Check it out if you are in the area!!

Yelp
Smack at the middle of the town, a casual indoor atmosphere, not pricey, excellent fast service, friendly staff, ample food servings, terrific food choices, delicious food. Should be your first restaurant choice when visiting New Paltz, don't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever miss their nachos and fried calamari matched with any of their beers. A great place to be.
google avatar

Yelp
It is my favorite spot in New Paltz. Not only is the food great, but the atmosphere is amazing. The staff is ABSOLUTELY wonderful as well!!! Me and some friends would always go to P&G's. One of my friends ordered a dessert, and it was on the house. It was such a great experience. We love the food. The people. Every single thing. The Big Kid burger was my absolute favorite, but every dish is fantastic. Even the mayo. Oh and don't even get me started on the fries, SO SO SO GOOD. Crispy and perrrrrfect.

Yelp
We braved out dining in for the very first time after 5 months of quarantine on this spot. Noticed spacing between each tables inside so we removed our masks once settled. Friendly staff. Service is fast. Good pricing for the portion. Delicious food. Ambiance is nice. Casual setting. Convenient location. Located in downtown center. A staple. You are not allowed to miss it when you are in town.

Monigeh V.

Yelp
We ate there yesterday. Been a customer of theirs for many years. Food is great and atmosphere is warm and inviting. Unfortunately they lost their liquor license. It is a shame because the place look quiet. Go enjoy the great food and huge portions anyway and support the servers who support their families through their jobs. I'll go back liquor or not!!!!
google avatar

Susan A.

Yelp
Wonderful local ambience. The food was a great value and portions were larger than I expected. A lot of salad for a very minimal price. The burgers were very sizable. I had the crabcakes which were quite tasty. My guest ordered a pulled pork sandwich which he really enjoyed. The hostess took care of our drinks and the waitress was swamped as it was quite busy. But overall it was a pleasant experience in a quaint local establishment that I would visit again.

Yelp
Pleased to get my favorite clam chowder and my girl more than happy with French onion soup. After waiting way to long down by the river for a craft brew had to go to the old stand by. Pleasant staff and friendlier atmosphere than gilded. Back to the sunshine state.
google avatar

Jaclyn H.

Yelp
michael beck was the best host. he greeted with open arms and a warm smile. He assisted us along with our server to make sure all of our needs were met. The ranch dressing is the cherry on top! best dressing ever! (gunna need the recipe ;) ) way to go p&gs!

Rose B.

Yelp
Food has totally gone downhill. Food is mediocre at best. One item overly fried and the other bland. I suspect older chef left and new, inexperienced chef started.
google avatar

Eryn M.

Yelp
Great bar food options with lots of drinks available and a large menu. Some of my favorites are the soups, chili, Caesar salad, burger and Rueben

Yelp
First time visiting P&Gs since the new renovations! They expanded the bar area and re-did the bathrooms (thank goodness!!) The place was packed, typical for a Saturday night with a 50 minute wait for two. My friend and I waited by the bar for about 20 minutes and were seated! It was extremely loud, as the DJ was playing music already and people were standing/talking/dancing in every possible crevice. This was expected so we didn't mind! My friend and I ordered hot wings, potato skins and the vegetable quesadillas. It all came out within 10 minutes. All three appetizers came with plenty. The wings were not very hot, which I personally liked and the potato skins were really tasty. I wouldn't recommend the vegetable quesadillas. They only had roasted red peppers, spinach and cheese inside and I needed more; sautéed onions would be a great addition. I'm ALWAYS surprised by the amount of families eating in the midst of chaos that P&Gs accumulates on Fridays & Saturdays! I guess its a preference, but just know that it won't be a quiet or calm atmosphere. Since I live so close & I enjoy the college life atmosphere of P&Gs, I'll be back!

Mike K.

Yelp
Always great food my fav is the Cajun chicken. Took my wife there for her birthday and everyone was happy. Way to be open for lunch.

Yelp
My husband and I came here, because we had two people tell us that this place was great, so we gave it a shot. For us, it wasn't that good. It was horrible, just not what we thought. My husband ordered the skirt steak with a baked potatoe and ended up not getting the steak he ordered. It was cooked the way he wanted it to be though. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and the sauce was alright, but it was lathered in it. Like I said, it wasn't horrible, but wasn't good as I expected it to be.

Kate B.

Yelp
The food and service is always great here. They have the best nachos, a great burger and always have great specials
google avatar

Claudia B.

Yelp
Your all around, good ole pub. Food is as expected, quick, and service is great. Been going for over 20 years.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Decent pub food. Reasonable prices. Affordable beer. Friendly atmosphere and staff (they can seem a little overworked and distracted, but they are nice when they interact with you). Good place to watch games. Lots of locals.

Yelp
It's already out second visits for this restaurant. Everytine we come to New Paltz we'd come here for a meal. Their portions is always big, guarantee filling. I really like their soup like onion soups and clam chowder. Especially the cheese on the onion soups is my favorite. Also I like their spaghetti especially the seafood with pesto sauce. Recommend!

Marilyn P.

Yelp
Delicious food, variety of drinks, considerate & knowledgeable staff. On Main Street in New Platz, perfect for casual light meal or full course dinner.

Yelp
P&G's is a tired looking college town pub that happens to have very good food. This is not a place to go out of your way for, but if you happen to be in New Paltz, NY and are in search of casual dining and a cold beer P&G's is the place. We arrived on a Saturday night around 5:30 and were told the wait time would be approximately 30 minutes. Our group of 7 decided to wait at the bar. The crowd at the bar was interesting and consisted of college students, middle agers and a sprinkling of senior citizens. The first thing I noticed was the draft beer selection, which, disappointingly didn't have any local craft beers despite the large amount of breweries the Hudson Valley is famous for. I opted for their $9 dirty martini special which was decent. After an hour or so of waiting at the bar our table was ready. The host walked us to a big round wooden table with 3 different beat up chairs and 4 metal folding chairs. I was told by a local in our party that the college students always break the chairs and that P&G's becomes a nightclub after 10 and it gets pretty rowdy. On to the dinner....the menu is decent with standard casual dining fare of burgers, salads, and some interesting entrees you wouldn't expect such as eggplant parmigiana. All in all there is something for everyone here. I inquired about the seafood and was told that all the fish comes in fresh from NYC daily so I opted for the chili lime cod special only to be told they ran out of it. I went for the salmon entree which came prepared either grilled, pan seeded or Cajun style. I chose the latter. The meal came with a fresh string beans and a starch of your choice; I chose baked potato. Additionally, it came with a soup or salad and I chose French onion soup. My wife chose the same entree but had her salmon grilled and opted for the salad. Others in my party ordered the steak sandwich, the eggplant parm, the veggie sandwich, and a burger. Everyone enjoyed their meals and portions were so generous we ended up requesting boxes to take some home. Also, one of the best things we had was the fresh baked semolina seeded bread that they put on the table before our meal. All in all it was a good meal and for 7 people the bill with tip was about $200 which is a decent deal. If I find myself in the area again and looking for a casual dinner in a college town P&G's will definitely be an option.

Yelp
I'm from out of town, so we came here after shopping up and down Main Street. The Menu is extensive but not Diner extensive. The portions are generous and the staff of friendly. The place has that vibe your city's non chain restaurant has. Definitely worth stopping by. We have the Soft Pretzel appetizer and it was great. The Lava Cheddar dip was phenomenal and the pretzels soft and salty. I had the basket of classic bone in Fried Chicken. It was fresh fried and the outside was crispy and delicious. Zero complains and as a lover of fried chicken it was on point. Would come here again for it. My fiancé had a Classic Burger and Bacon with a side of Eggplant Fries. She described the burger as having that made on a HOT grill where you get that meat caramelization. The bacon that she added was a pleasant surprise thick, Smokey and crisp. Zero wobbly wubbly fat. If you are in town. Or a local give this place a shot. Worth it in my humble opinion.
google avatar

Vivian G.

Yelp
I absolutely love coming here I've been coming here for years. I've never had a bad meal. I've never had bad service. I've only ever had a night where it was packed with the college kids and I didn't know any better. The eggplant fries the sweet potato fries oh my God, Portobello sandwich! Pick anything, you wont be disappointed

Ekim T.

Yelp
The food is reliable and we would have liked to eat here but after (and not for the first time) we called to make sure they were open; we drove miles out of our way to get food and arrived to find the kitchen unexpectedly closed (even though we had been told that the kitchen would be open until 9:00; this happened just after 8:00). This is the second time this has happened (an early kitchen closing after we have called to check) and we felt we should let fellow diners know that they can't be relied on for their evening kitchen hours.
google avatar

William D.

Yelp
Went down hill since Mike Beck left. Ordered wings the other night and they forgot to put the garlic and parmeshan on wings. Said something and the girl broght out a cold dish with sauce .I went to there Facebook and asked a question and explained what happened. No answer?? My recommendation is to Make it right then a don't pay is what I recommend. I don't send food back to the kitchen!
google avatar

Deane C.

Yelp
Great place to sit, have some drinks, and EAT! Great local hangout with great food too. This one pictured is the Mac Truck Cheeseburger. A grilled cheese sandwich with Mac & cheese and a burger in it. Good stuff. If you go, you'll like it. No hassle. (Except parking) (college town)

Wanda G.

Yelp
A staple in New Paltz! Always try and stop for a drink or food when I can! Never disappoints! Wanda at SERVPRO

Yelp
Just your typical college town bar/restaurant. Great drink deals and solid food. I had the burger and was very satisfied for the price. Lots of options

Michael M.

Yelp
We went to P&G's for lunch yesterday. The training waitress got our order wrong (we ordered blue cheese burgers she brought P&G's burgers) but with the noise in there I am not surprised. They came back with back with the correct order in under 5 minutes-burned and overcooked (they scraped off the old topping, re-fried the burgers until the blue cheese melted and brought them out burnt to a crisp) . The music was too loud, the entire restaurant and bathroom were dirty and the service was lacking (although probably not the servers fault)
google avatar

Noelle A.

Yelp
The worst nachos.... The chili had so much chunks of onion and green pepper, was horrible...
google avatar

Cheney P.

Yelp
The food was great and it was a fun spot with good beer. The beer battered fish was great, the wings were great the calamari was great and whatever that sandwich thing my gf ordered she loved that too(though it really did fill her up quickly)

Yelp
I've been here before and never wrote a review but I thought it about time to let it rip. Nice history to this restaurant going back to the 1900's. That being said certain aspects of that history still remain intact. The food was really good, I had the chicken BLT and my significant other had the Guinness fish and chips. The beer selection was pretty extensive and the bloody Mary's were excellent. The only thing that I just can't get over is how loud this place is. I don't know if it's the acoustics or what but each and every time I've been here it is loud af. All and all a really great place just be sure to prepare for the noise .
