Pangkor Laut Resort

We stayed 3 nights here recently. Our experience was unforgettable! The common areas of the resort are beautiful, as is its location. The food and drinks were excellent in all the outlets, something which is difficult to achieve. But what makes the resort stand out is the staff. Without exception, they were warm, friendly and helpful, and elevated our experience. Special mention must be made of Mizan, Segar, Darwin, Asgar, Robin, Vije and Shakil. And please do not leave without experiencing the spa - a phenomenal experience and truly world class. The only drawback of the resort is that the rooms are tired and dated, although this didn’t significantly impact our experience. However, they are being refurbished and we can’t wait to see what the new rooms look like (although there will inevitably be a price hike). The resident’s package which we chose is phenomenal value as meals are included. And don’t miss happy hours at Chapman’s Bar and Straits Bar with great 1-for-1 deals. We can’t wait to return!

This resort is really something special, from the moment you arrive at the check-in for the boat transfer the exceptional service begins. You are met at the island end by several staff who welcome you onto this amazing island. Then individually checked in - sitting down with a cool drink. We stayed 5 nights in a hill villa which was fabulous. Views to die for and the wildlife that surrounds you transports you to another world. The restaurants are all of very high standard with several to chose from. The facilities are beautiful, around every corner another vista or another bar, restaurant, library, seating place all measuring up to being 1 of the small luxury hotels of the world. The staff in the main dining room where breakfast is served are so attentive, friendly, happy and the breakfast buffet is again one of the best we have ever had worldwide. All restaurant food was exceptional standard, with the fine dining being absolutely sublime. But the main feeling we are left with, is of wanting to come back and be pampered by the staff and facilities again. This place exceeded all our expectations and provides the right environment to totally relax and unwind in luxury. We would like to thank all the wonderful staff and especially Darwin who made us feel so welcome and went out of his way to ensure we had the best 6 days on this very special island getaway. We visited Pangkor Laut Resort 20 years ago, on our honeymoon, and returned this year with our teenage daughters. I’m thrilled to say, it has lived up to our remembered experience and delivered a phenomenal holiday treat for all of us. ||This time we indulged in a spa treatment: the girls and my husband went for the Balinese massage by the beach, whilst I tried out the Swedish massage. All were spectacular, thoroughly relaxing, and further enhanced by the complimentary bath house experience (45 mins) beforehand. We nicknamed the experience Zen Day, as we all felt completely refreshed and relaxed afterwards.||Throughout the stay, the staff have been exceptionally helpful and welcoming; it is no exaggeration to say they go out of their way to ensure your stay with them is memorable for all the right reasons. In fact, on our last night we were invited to a complimentary drinks and canapés gathering, where we had the opportunity to find out more about the history of the resort and chat with some of the mangers, one of whom deserves a particular mention: Darwin - catering and beverages manager. Not only was he incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived, but also great company and a fabulous host. A true asset to any team. ||We chose the Hill villas as accommodation during our stay, which were beautifully laid out, kept clean and as bug free as possible, given they are situated amongst the trees in the rainforest. Upon arrival we were greeted with sweet treats and fresh water bottles were replenished daily. The notorious ‘cheeky’ monkeys made regular appearances on our walk to breakfast each morning and the Horn-bills watched from a distance, hopeful for any forgotten morsels; though staff ensured they didn’t overstep the mark and were shoed away when they became too brazen. ||Which leads me on to the quality of the food. We chose the full-board option, which we felt was very good value. The breakfast options in the Feast village - buffet style - were exceptional and even included a ‘make your own freshly squeezed’ juice station. Uncle Lim’s, which serves freshly prepared Chinese food, is a great choice for the evening, though our highlight was The Fisherman’s Cove, which has a spectacular setting, outstanding food (both fish and meat), great wines and, as ever, expert staff. ||For a really special holiday experience, we would, unquestionably, recommend Pangkor Laut Resort, for couples and families alike.

Beautiful restful place with fantastic service and very friendly helpful staff. Great place to unwind. Hotel and location is stunning. I had a sea view room which was magical. Spa facilities were some of the best ever experienced with a bathhouse experience I’ve never had anywhere else. The range and quality of food was superb. Recommend the Chef’s experience which was fantastic, guided round the local markets by Chef Ali who was lovely, informative company especially for foodies like me, I then cooked some of the best Malay food I’ve ever eaten, only because of the support of Chef Farzam. The restaurant and Baff could not have been more helpful and friendly. I would name them all but would be afraid of missing any out. They really made me feel at home as a solo traveller. Management were very friendly, very welcoming. All of my needs weren’t anticipated , without me needing to ask. Could not recommend more highly.

A beautiful exclusive resort good for couple as and also families. Lots to do and see. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of surrounding nature that you can see at your leisure. We enjoyed the swimming pool as well as the beach, the breakfast buffet is huge and there are plenty of restaurant options. Our stay in the hill chalets gave us plenty is beautiful views to landscapes and surrounding nature.

Overall, the stay in PLR was wonderful. The people here are very friendly, always greet us with big smile, especially to the children. The room and facilities are well taken care and the view is amazing. The nature is well preserved, the kids enjoy meeting the hornbills, wild boars, monkeys, sand crabs and sea creatures during the stay. ||We took the Resident Package, so the meals are all inclusive. We enjoy restaurant hopping during our stay. The Chinese food served at Uncle Lim's is delicious, the kids enjoy playing with the hornbills at Royal Bay Beach Club, and the Pasar Malam night at the Feast Village serves yummy local delicacies. ||Just some comments for improvement:|1. It was raining heavily during our day of arrival. However, there's no umbrella prepare for us so we have to run all the way from the speedboat to the jetty carrying the kids. ||2. We have reached the island at 12pm and we're told that the check-in time will be 3pm and our luggages will be sent straight to our room. Around 12.30pm I have requested to take one of the luggage as the kids's water bottles and milk bottles are in it, however the receptionist informed us that the luggage is already sent to our room. I have again informed her that I need those items as there will be long waiting time before we can check-in to our room, but yet the staff has emphasized that the luggage has sent to our room before even checking the location of the luggages . Luckily Jeff came by and helped us with this (the luggages were actually still at the lobby area). I would like to take the opportunity to thanks Jeff, he has been very helpful and friendly during our stay ☺️|||3. The spa village is quite far from where we stayed. It would be good to let us know about the distance and the availability of the shuttle service to the village. ||Overall, we had an amazing time in PLR, will definitely come back for a longer stay.

A really lovely resort with the most friendly staff. We stayed in the Sea Villas and enjoyed being a little further away from the main pool and village, but not as far as the Spa Villas. The villas could use a bit of an update (which we were told was planned for this summer) but we were perfectly comfortable although the air conditioner was a little wonky.||Service was exceptional. Everyone remembered our names and greeted us personally. Special thanks to Dian, Segar, Ramesh, Ram, Gagan, and Vijae.||We had the meal plan so three meals a day. The breakfast buffet was enormous and had such a wide range of choices from more traditional western fare (eggs, yogurt and fruit, pasteries) to lots of asian options (noodle soup, stir fried noodles and rice, etc). You could even pick your own ingredients for juicing.||We enjoyed going out to Emerald Bay for the afternoon, the only real beach on the island. We would lunch at Chapman's Bar on the beach then grab some chaise lounges and spend a leisurely afternoon swimming and reading. Don't expect to snorkel on the island. You really need to go to the islands off eastern Malaysia for that. ||Our favorite dinner venue was Uncle Lim's, by far! The Hong Kong style steamed sea bass was especially divine. ||The spa experience was amazing. We highly recommend this. We each booked a simple 50 minute message, so we thought. It turned out to be more like a 2 hour experience with a foot scrub, cold pool, aromatherapy facial steam, warm pool, and body scrub, all before the message! When you book a spa treatment, you get to use the spa pool for the day (adult only, which is nice). ||We also went on the Jungle hike one morning. Our local guide was fabulous and funny (I wish I could remember his name). We recommend this as well but be prepared for lots of mosquitos. Definitely put lots of repelent on before you go.||There's a gym but the equipement definitely needs some updating as does the air conditioning in this space. ||Overall, we had a great time. We stayed for 5 nights (4-5 nights is about all you need).

Our time at Pangkor Laut Resort was truly memorable and surpassed all of our expectations.||We would like to sincerely thank all employees for their enthusiastic work.|Their perfect work makes us feel very friendly and relaxed. ||From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by your attentive and professional staff. The landscape and honeymoon layout of the room you prepared for us make us feel very thoughtful.|We spend 1 night in Hill Villa and 2 nights in sea villa. Each room type has different views, which makes us feel novel. Which is also the highlight of this resort. Although the facilities of the rooms here are a little old, we also feel the weight of history and the inheritance of humanities.||We have participated in several activities, such as jungle walk, sunset cruise, the pool, dinner on the beach, kayak, etc. We also saw a lot of animals, such as hornbills, wild boars, snake, lizards, crows, eagles, and various fish. It's a pity that I didn't see the monkey with my own eyes this time.||What impressed us most was the dinner on the beach. We enjoyed dinner at sunset in the Emerald Bay.
