Great little sandwich shop right next to the Duomo. The owners and workers were all incredibly kind. They let us sample the meat and cheese beforehand which was great. My husband and I split a single sandwich but we should have listened to the owner and each got our own! Don’t miss this place when you’re in Florence!

Google
Outstanding sandwiches- we went THREE times in a row! Best ones in town, despite “more hyped” shops. Fair priced, served HOT and good service. Lots of options for meat and veggie lovers; tons of bread, cooked veggies and cheese choices! Limited seating outside (with lots of pigeons) and a bit of a wait, but don’t let that get in the way- speak to the owner in Italian using google translate to ease communicate issues.

Google
Very good panini. Better than most popular places. The staff are also friendly & help in choosing. They provided meat & cheese samples to help us choose. I would give this a 5/5, but giving this a 4 as the older gentleman who collects the payment does not provide receipt for payment.

Zachary T.

Google
Really cool experience and service. Definitely NOT the best sandwich in Florence though. Panini Toscani is known for letting visitors sample different meats before they build the sandwich and they have seating outside next to the Duomo. I think I didn't love their bread / how they toasted it. Other shops have better sandwich combos in my opinion. But hey it's all relative - you should still swing by for the experience and to try it out for yourself.

Google
WOW. EXCELLENT!!!! If there's a line, just get in it, as it goes very fast. Grab a menu as you're waiting. Staff is so good, giving you samples as you decide. In a line that moves so quickly you somehow don't feel rushed. The porchetta is to die for, both salami are excellent. All the breads are top notch. If I could've eaten more I would have!!!

Iulia S.

Google
We were received with hospitality and asked to try first the ingredients before the sandwhich was made (type of bread, salami, prosciutto, cheese, sauces....) So you can choose the best ingredients for creating the perfect panini! It was delicious and the owner was super nice! Great experience.

Kent B.

Google
OMG absolutely fantastic. Loved how they give you samples of the 4 different meats, multiple cheeses and then you pick 3 toppings. The sandwiches were huge and amazing. Very cool to see the owner working and hanging out there too.

Moksh K.

Google
Delicious hot paninis for vegetarians with a lot of toppings, bread and cheese choices. You can do a taste test before making final choices and definitely ask for recommendations on bread & cheese pairings. They let you choose 4 toppings, but I think as a vegetarian, it should be 5 selections, especially if you're opting out of meat. Fast service, toasted on spot and ready to go within minutes. Have a seat and enjoy the view while having a delicious meal.

Yelp
The store is tiny and over crowded. An elderly gentleman stands at the entrance and tells you what to do. There are lines for every step of the way. The paninis are delicious and fresh. I loved the crispy bread. The staff is generally nice except the gentleman at the door who is not exactly the epitome of good nature and customer service. He took our debit card and selected convert to dollars instead of pay in Euros which is the more expensive choice. Then he threw away the receipt without asking. When my mother asked for the receipt ( to see how much we paid), he took the receipt out of the trash can and handed it to me. Although we liked the panini, we wont return while we are here because firstly, they are a bit pricey and secondly, we do not appreciate being treated like this.

Yelp
Visited Panini Toscani recently with the family. The sandwiches were large, so I didn't request one. Instead, my wife and daughter each requested a sandwich and we split them. The sandwiches were delicious. They offer different types of bread, but the Italian bread with the crispy crust and soft interior is the one I like the most. The ingredients are second to none. The meats, the bread, and the toppings/sauces were all epic. The sandwiches are simple, delicious, and filling. It's a common theme to request one of these sandwiches around lunch time and there are cafes everywhere serving them. So the challenge becomes selecting a cafe from the sea of options. I'm glad we selected Panini Toscani because the sandwiches were awesome. Not all cafes offer the crispy Italian bread - some only offer focaccia bread, which I'm not a huge fan of. I highly recommend Panini Toscani.

Yelp
I loved this place! It was located a thirty second walk near my hotel close to the Duomo. It's a small spot with a huge reputation. The staff were all great. Most spoke English and Italian, some just Italian. The meats are sliced right in front of you. One of the employees let us sample the assortment of meats that were going into the panini. Never an issue here. Lots of tables outside overlooking the beautiful views and culture of the city. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Food: My favorite panini! Been here multiple times and it never disappoints. They have a variety of breads and they are all amazing. They provide meat and cheese samples prior to you ordering, which is a big plus. You can definitely taste the quality of their meats and cheeses. You also have 3 options of sides to put in your panini, mainly veggies and/or spreads. Service: Kindest staff. Ambiance: They have mainly outside seating but they also have two tables inside. It's pretty small but it's in a great location!

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches! After a quick search I found this delightful little sandwich shop right behind the Duomo. From the minute we walking into the small shop the gentleman asked if it was our first time- which I immediately said, "Yes!" He began giving us small samples of the meats and a piece of cheese. We then hand selected our bread of choose, meat, cheese and toppings. The sandwiches were toasted and then they called our names. We grabbed one of the tables, there are only 5 or so, but people are gracious to eat and offer their table. The owners greet you and help you find a table. Absolutely the most amazing sandwich we have ever had!

Yelp
Better service, price, and sandwich, than that Antico place. Come here, get a sandwich, get a bottle of wine, sit outside, chill and enjoy the view of the Duomo. They start with educating you on the meats, cheeses, and then bread. Help you customize and build a sandwich. Sandwich is great, bread is fresh, soft and flavorful, and best of all... you don;t have to stand in line forever, and you actually have a nice place to sit, and enjoy the sandwich.

Yelp
This place is unbelievably good. It is in a high traffic area, but with the wait. Hit it, and hit it hard!!
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
Delicious paninis! It's a small order at the counter place. The staff is very friendly and gives great recommendations. They have you try all of their meat and cheese options before you build your own panini. It was so fun trying all of their different meats and cheeses. Everything was so fresh, it was hard to choose. You choose your bread, meat, cheese, pesto, and any additional toppings. I added tomato and arugula. The paninis were big, we probably could have just split one. We took our order to go but there is an outdoor seating option on the street. We were there on a Saturday so it was pretty busy. It's a lively area! I definitely recommend stopping!

Yelp
The place is very interesting. While the food was good, the options were interesting. Yes, there were lots of good options to choose, the shop is not very family-friendly in the sense of food options, though I do recommend coming here. The service was good, with only 3/4 employees, but they got the job done. Now, the shop is small, and the line starts at the back of the room and starts in the back room, and ends in the front. It is very tight/small in there, with not lots of space. I did though enjoy my food and experience, but it was not what I expected.

Nolan O.

Yelp
First time in Florence for me and it started out rough. Air bnb was really not what we expected so we were at a low. This was the first stop the morning after checking in and it was not only an amazing sandwich but completely brightened my whole start to Florence. Ambiance is great with great customer service and it's in the perfect location. The bread was the best I've ever had and I basically inhaled an entire sandwich before climbing the bell tower. Highly recommend. Would come earlier (we came at about 11) because we could already tell it was starting to fill up by the time we left

Ashley E.

Yelp
My wife and I explored Florence and stumbled across this gem. The city is known for their paninis. We had to get one! This place did not disappoint. We got the panini with prosciutto, aged pecorino (phenomenal), peppers and the amazing pesto. We shared one and still didn't finish it. When we ordered the staff was very helpful and offered recommendations and gave samples to ensure you would leave satisfied. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
google avatar

Jules T.

Yelp
Everything about this place was amazing. The sandwiches were packed with rich flavors and would even be large enough to share with somebody else. The workers were very kind and hospitable. It is also in the "heart" of the city and a great place to stop at if you're doing the main touristy attractions. Definitely consider going here when you are visiting Florence, it's incredible.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great little place to grab a panini. The sandwich was so very good and the service was amazing. There was no where left to sit so the older gentleman (think it was the owner), grabbed a chair and two crates for us. One crate for my husband to sit on as one to use as a table.
google avatar

Yelp
Incredible sandwiches, adorable vibe, one of the best meals I've eaten anywhere in Italy. This place absolutely blows Antico Vinaio out of the water. Ingredients were fresh, the employees were super friendly, and the Porchetta is not to be missed. Super convenient after visiting the Duomo

Sherry H.

Yelp
I will go to bed thinking about this place tonight. Old Italian owner playing traffic cop for those in line and personally handing out sandwiches after ordering is worth the "price of admission"! Amazing!

Yelp
We stumbled across Pqnini Toscani our first day in Florence. It looked promising so we decided to grab a panini. Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted and the young guy working asked our language preference and then asked if we had ever been in before. Since we had not been in, he offered up a tasting of all the meats that they offered as well as all of the cheeses. He gave us suggestions on what worked best with each other and what bread and veggies he suggested pairing together. We ordered, paid and an older gentlemen had clean a table and was waiting for us to take a seat. Our sandwiches were quickly brought out and they were amazing. So fresh and full of flavor. We actually visited again during our stay. The location was super convenient and the food was amazing. The staff were all extremely helpful and polite as we took our time deciding on what we wanted to order. I'd recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Located right near the famous Duomo in Florence, Panini Toscani provided me with the best sandwich I have had during my time abroad. The service was great, the environment friendly and the price adequate. Upon arrival they allow you to try whatever meats, cheeses, toppings etc you are interested in ordering. All of these were delicious. The staff speaks English and Italian, and the sandwiches will be out in no more than 5-10 minutes. I would highly recommend visiting Panini Toscani if you ever find yourself in Florence.

Yelp
This is my fourth meal at a restaurant in Florence rated over 4.7 on Yelp, and the first one to smash it out of the park. Panini made fresh to order with 7 bread options, 4 cheeses, 3 meats, and several veggies, then toasted. I had the sbriciolona and pecorino stagionato on schiaccata with marinated eggplant, grilled peppers, and arugula. Mind blown. Un panino molto bellissimo! The owner went out of his way to be sure we had a place to sit on a busy afternoon. I would come back again and again.

Yelp
This place has the best bread! We had a pork and a prosciutto and both panini's were excellent Great place to stop and eat/share these bundles of deliciousness Great people helping answer questions .

Yelp
First food I ate after getting to Florence. All I can say was I knew this was the city that was going to satisfy my food need. Very friendly staff.. They were very helpful and allowed me to taste the deli meat and cheese before I ordered. I noticed there are lot of pannini place around here.. But man I can say this place was one of the best sandwich I've ever had.. Ciabatta Toscana bread is what I chose.. You pick the bread, meat, cheese, then up to 3 different veggies at the end.. So simple but yet so yummy and flavorful sandwich.. To me bread is very important part of sandwich.. You can have the most expensive fanciest meat but if bread sucks rest of the food sucks.. Bread was so light, crispy outside and light chewy inside.. Prosciutto was very flavorful and yummy. All that sandwich and it's only 7 euro.. Can't beat the price and quality of the sandwich. Can't wait to come back and try other style.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a grab and go place. Or get luck and get a spot on the two tables inside lol. You get to customize your own panini with whatever you'd like. They are so kind and let you sample the cheeses if you are unsure what you'd like. Especially since I was with my daughter. We did a prosciutto tomato basil arugula with soft cheese. It was SOOOO delicious. The built it right in front of us and toasted. Very quick would recommend
google avatar

Nicolas L.

Yelp
I am always skeptical about restaurants right next to tourist sites. However, Panini Toscani is the exception. This small sandwich shop is literally located right next to the Duomo and serves phenomenal sandwiches. Basically, you build your own sandwich by choosing from a selection of breads, meats, cheeses, and vegetables. I chose to have a Prosciutto Sandwich. Fresh warm toasted ciabatta bread was filled with flavorful prosciutto, gooey cheese, juicy tomato, crisp arugula, flavorful marinated eggplant and tangy peppers. Since all the seats outside were occupied, we were provided wine crates to sit on to enjoy the view of the Duomo with our sandwiches and glasses of Chianti. It was a wonderful experience.
google avatar

Jamison L.

Yelp
Starting off, they let you try all 3 meats to best meet your taste and cheese if you ask to try them. Good fresh toppings to add as well! Extra fast service getting it out to you! Right beside the Duomo! Only downside would be the very limited seating but you can squeeze in on a table if other patrons are inviting enough. Absolutely stop by if you enjoy a good panini!
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
The service was amazing when we walked in they let us sample the meats and cheese, gave us recommendations and was overall so friendly. The panini was the best one I've had this trip. Perfect! It's located right in the middle of everything so super fun place to grab a quick lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't say enough about these paninis! They are absolutely delicious. When you get to the counter, they give you a sample of all of the meats. You choose the bread, the meat and cheese and 3 toppings. The sandwiches are huge. Must try!!
google avatar

Kyle R.

Yelp
Tiny little restaurant with seating outside directly by the Duomo. They have got the art of the panini figured out! Choose the type of bead you prefer, followed by the type of meat & cheese, then you can add your choice of veges. The ingredients are all fresh and delicious. It is then toasted to perfection. The service is friendly & attentive. Highly recommended!

Allison S.

Yelp
There were lines everywhere at lunchtime. When we turned the corner we spotted Panini Toscani. The line was short and moved fast. We are a family of 5. My husband and I do not eat meat but we had a panini with aged pecorino tomatoes, pesto sauce, arugala and zucchini that was absolutely delicious. Our sons all had different paninis with salami or prosciutto. Everyone raved about their panini. Only after the fact did I realize this was one of the places I tagged for lunch on Yelp. Here's to another 5 star review!

Heath L.

Yelp
Friendly service that lets you taste all the m ate before stacking your sandwich. A very yummy panini. We were not disappointed.

Yelp
These paninis have the best bread ever!!!! Perfectly crunchy yet not too tough to bite into! They let you sample the meats and cheeses and are super fun people!! Amazing paninis and the location is super ideal! Right by the duomo!! We went three times while here and definitely recommend it to anyone here! The line moves super fast!!

Yelp
Small nondescript panini shop amidst a sea of pasta restaurants and bistros in the Piazza del Duomo. As the name implies, they make paninis. We tried three salamis and cheese to go along with them before deciding. Fun fact - you can only choose one type of meat and cheese. You cannot ask for two or all three of the salamis in your panini. Regardless of what choice you make, it will be good.. You also get to choose the type of bread (multigrain, focaccia, ciabatta) and veggies (think arugula, sun dried tomatoes, eggplant, grilled peppers, etc.) to add to your panini. My panini was crunchy, had a good amount of spiciness, and the meat and cheese were a good combo. I forgot to mention that they toast the panini too! They have beer, wine and spritz (of course)! The meal was wonderful and gave the much needed energy to climb the 414 steps of the Campanile di Giotto.

Yelp
Panini Toscani a small store beside the Duomo that serves up some really good sandwiches for a great price. The shop is small and quite popular, so it can be quite crowded and quite confusing as where to begin. But you start of at the very back, single file due to the space and they let you sample different types of meats and cheese before they start your panini order. There are also limited tables and chairs outside for seating. Every staff member was great and super helpful, except for the guy that was letting us sample the cheese and meats. He was one of the tallest staff, possible one of the owner. He cracked jokes and meant to be "funny", but it was towards only to a selected few that he chose to be friendly . During the sampling, they label their cheese from 1 to 4 and when a girl (in front of me) asked what type of cheese she was eating -he refused to answer then egged on another male customer to laugh at her when she took too long to decide. When it was my turn for sampling, he easily chatted up the older couple standing next to me, but pretty much ignored me for the rest of the duration when I asked a question. It was very odd and awkward to say the least and I suspect others might encounter and feel the same way with that particular person. Overall, they serve a great product in a very busy touristy location that is affordable and worth trying despite the bizarre service at the beginning.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch after touring the Duomo in January 2020, and were quite impressed. We didn't know what we wanted, but the proprietor has everyone we saw come inside the shop where he showed us the different meats and cheeses, even cutting off tasting samples to make sure everyone gets something they like! After one chooses what they want, the panini is assembled and grilled for serving. We took the grilled paninis outside (along with my beautiful glass of rose' ) and ate at a table on the sidewalk. We were joined by a couple of students from Korea, and had a nice conversation with them. It was a pleasant lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down, best sandwich I had in Florence!! You get to try 4 kinds of meats and cheeses before you pick the items to go on your sandwich. Everyone is super friendly there, and the sandwich was to die for. It's a small shop by the Duomo, which is perfect!
google avatar

Gina M.

Yelp
We had gone by here several times and it was busy every time we went by. It's a very visual store front. They have a unique way of you being about to choose what you want to eat. You are in line are able to have a wine or limoncello spritzer. As you get closer go in and they offer you tastings of cheese and meats then you choose which bread, cheese, meat, and last you pick 3 other things to go on we picked the spicy spread, arugula and something else. I remember seeing everyone eating these sandwiches and them look so good, once we got ours we sat and enjoyed it very much!! I am a big sandwich love and this was above and beyond our expectations!! The owner I believe was running everything very smoothly!!!
google avatar

Katie K.

Yelp
Delicious! Asked what they recommended and was an amazing first meal in Florence! Ended up with the local salami, pecorino, arugula, spicy peppers, eggplant and oh my! Excited to go back again! Right outside duomo so a great meal, great price, with a great view! Will have to wait in line but it's worth it!
google avatar

Yelp
Best. Paninis. In. Town. First off, they saw I was new and didn't even let me order without trying all the meats and cheeses first. THAT IS SERVICE. 3 meats, all delicious, and 4 cheeses, all aged differently and all amazing. 2 gentlemen assembled our paninis before passing it on to a woman for up to 3 toppings of your choosing. €14 for 2 paninis and a juice, with the best service I've seen in town. Don't let the location across from the Duomo deter you. It is high quality.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
This was an excellent lunch time option for on the go! There are menus to choose your made to order sandwich options. You are offered a meat and cheese tasting before you order - a highlight in my opinion. Sandwiches are made fresh and heated for you. Delicious!
google avatar

Alejandro C.

Yelp
The service was a amazing. The person at the counter gave us a taste and a lesson of each meat and cheese they provide. Also, we were able to choose the toppings and the type of bread we wanted for our panini. It's the freshness of the ingredients, the multiple options you have, with the great service that makes a huge difference. We will be back soon!! It's right across the street of the basilica and you can eat it right outside the restaurant where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the people and the buildings.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
We came here as a backup since our first sandwich shopped had over an hour wait! Honestly, it should have been our first choice. I LOVE that you can try their meats and cheeses before deciding on your sandwich. Yes, this makes it a little more of a wait, but it's worth it! You listen and taste; then order your custom made sandwich and toppings. It's all so fresh, reasonable prices, and has an INCREDIBLE view.

Olivia S.

Yelp
Hands down best place in Florence to get a panini! You can try all toppings before deciding. 10/10!!!
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
Panini Toscano is located directly across from the Duomo so it's not hard to find at all! The line was decently long when we went but it moves quickly and in groups of 9-10 inside to do the tasting of meats and cheeses together then you move along the counter to choose what bread and fillings you want. It's unique and definitely a great experience! The main 2 staff you speak with can speak English so it's really easy and tourist friendly. They have a wide variety of bread options: olive focaccia, nut focaccia, ciabatta, multigrain, and schiacciata (common Tuscan flat bread). And when we went they had 3 meat options and 4 cheese. I went with the aged pecorino and prosciutto while Mo went with pecorino fresco (fresh pecorino) and Salame. The fresh pecorino was amazing and I wish I had gotten it too haha but lol I'm stubborn and wanted to get a little variety between the two of us. Anyways after you move down the cramped space along the line your panini will get passed along to the fillings station and you can choose 3 fillings I went with the "spread" (which seems to be a type of tapenade?), arugula, and peppers. Mo went with peppers, eggplant, and arugula. Once that's done the whole thing gets put into the toasters oven and you pay for your panini and any drinks you grabbed from the back refrigerator. The whole process was actually really easy and nice but most of Florence has been this way so I'm not too surprised. I would 100% recommend this for any travellers who are looking for a unique food experience and like cured meats and cheese for only €6!
google avatar

Sonia N.

Yelp
Found this amazing little shop in my Yelp app when nothing seemed to piqued our interest enough to walk in and have lunch. If you want the very BEST panini that you'll ever have in your life, get your butt in here. I've seen other reviews mentioning how busy it gets so I'm sorry if you don't ultimately have the same experience but when we came in January, it was slow and the staff was uber friendly and helpful. They gave us an awesome demo and sampling of all the different kinds of cheese, local Italian meats and different options for bread that were available to build your own unique panini. On our visit, they introduced 4 different kinds of pecorino cheese (3 locally from Florence and 1 from Pisa) which varied between mild to very sharp and then continued to showcase all the local Italian meats the same way for our meat eater. As a topper, they have an excellent selection of high-quality wines local from Tuscany. It was the perfect rest stop before heading back to Rome!

Yelp
Happen to stop by because it is at the cathedral square and very close to our B&B. Very friendly service, let us taste the cold cuts and cheese before making our decision. Very delicious panini.

Yelp
I was only in Florence for half a day and this was one of my fave meals, perf for me before my overnight train to Budapest ! this the definition of simple but so flavorful.. Anthony Bourdain hole in the wall type joint rip firstly the guys behind the counter are amazing lol, super fast paced and efficient, asked me if it was my first time, proceeded to cut on the spot and feed me the three types of cheese and salamis I could choose from, which was SO helpful for an indecisive tourist like me. old Italian dude owner was also so sweet, saw him trying to find/arrange seating for all the customers coming in who wanted to sit outside but no spots left, pulling chairs out from the back of store had a lemon soda w, reminded that again everyth is better in europe, beats every single soda ive ever had in the states bc it was so simple and not artificial, just fizzy lemon w a lil sugar yum, perf w the sando came near closing so wasn't that busy no line, found a spot outside

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches next to the Duomo. Make your way inside to order and let the nice server take care of helping you find a table. It is crowded and confusing and first, but they are accommodating and the food is amazing.

Damian N.

Yelp
Pretty good sandwich! All fresh and made in front of you. The staff was very friendly and made small talk while we waited for our food. Not much in the way of seating, a few tables outside.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
If you're a first timer, they let you sample the various meats and cheeses before you build your own sandwich. Everything was delicious. Can't recommend this enough for a quick lunch.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
This place in a hole-in-the-wall right next to the Museo del Duomo. And it is a find. A family run place, they are so delighted to make you happy with their sandwiches. You get to taste the meats and cheeses before choosing what to put in your sandwich, you have a choice of breads too. Everything is fresh and the peak of flavour. The sandwiches are delicious. There are a few outside tables, in the piazza right behind the Duomo.
google avatar

Jack M.

Yelp
Pretty good panini. The server takes you through the options and lets you taste the ingredients. I choose local Tuscan meats and cheese. Unlike other Italian sandwiches, this bread was soft and not overly robust. The flavors were fresh and well balanced. This was one of the better things I ate in Florence.
