Google
Great place for an awesome breakfast. Enjoyed a scooped wheat bagel with egg and cheese, bagel with lox and cream cheese as well as a delicious pumpkin muffin. The hot cafe latte was perfect! The selection of delicious pastries and friendly staff made it a first time very pleasant experience! Definitely recommend and would love to return.

Google
This place is so cute. There are a lot of different areas to sit in both inside and outside. I love the big chairs that sit under the tree. The coffee is really good and not bitter. We had a very delicious croissant. We also had a bagel sandwich that was super good. The star of the show is the coffee.

Google
Cool coffee shop built into a historic train station. There is a large indoor and outdoor seating for hanging out (no wifi if you are trying to work). Coffee and food that we had was good...decent amount of food options beyond just pastries. Service was friendly...though took some time with how busy it was. There was a pretty consistent line out the door through the whole time we were there on a Saturday morning. Cool spot...would definitely go back.

Google
For a basic cup of coffee without refill $4, quite expensive though good taste. The eggs nothing special, flavor too basic, and small portion. Essentially your paying for the outside atmosphere that's okay

Upon entering Pannikin Coffee & Tea, you begin to appreciate the ample space. Indoor, they supply many tables and chairs, but outside they provide even more seating, in order to take advantage of the lovely Encinitas weather. The service quickly provided bold cups of coffee. To flavor the ambience, Spanish music played in the background. In addition to Spanish music, there were two birds inside chirping, which sounded nice. The walls were decorated with the art from local artists. Their community board appears to be updated. Pannikin seems to be pet friendly, as seen by a few dogs on leash. However, the staff failed to recognize my wife when she stood in line for a refill. According to my wife, the staff made eye contact and ignored her 😕.

Google
What an incredible, cool place to have coffee, tea, very large sized, gourmet desserts, everything you could want is here including delicious food for lunch and breakfast. Incredible location, we love this place.

Google
High energy vibes with a social atmosphere. Kid, dog, and family friendly! Nice staff and a cool boutique shop attached with nice quality gifts. Make sure to try some of the pastries, the lemon bar is out of this world!!

Google
Set in a 130 year old train station this classic Encinitas hub has a great selection of fresh baked goods and light breakfast and lunch. But come for the coffee and community, you won’t be disappointed

Yelp
Lots of outdoor seating and some indoor. Quirky, cute coffee shop with delicious pastries and some simple, easy breakfast options- nothing amazing. I got an avocado toast and the bread was a bit burnt. Staff is always rly sweet too. Downside- no WiFi provided.

Yelp
Busy on the weekend but baristas were calm, confident and competent. Great iced tea. I'd love real whipped cream on chocolate pie but oh well. Great ambiance. Will be back!!

Yelp
Service was good and coffee came out great. A little "dingy" but the location and the people watching is prime. Had a bagel and one of their seasonal coffees

Yelp
What's not to love about Pannikin! It is located in the heart of Leucadia , in a cute and queen yellow house. They have a great coffee, and yummy pastries. There is minimal indoor seating, but lots of patio seating. They really stepped up their menu, and have all sorts of other breakfast and egg dishes as well. This is a local favorite, and they are making the names for themselves in San Diego, as more and more locations keep popping up!
google avatar

Yelp
The servings are huge! But delicious. The Mexican chocolate mocha is to die for! Great experience. Be prepared to stand in line for a few minutes, unless you come early. But worth the wait!

Yelp
Pannikin is a place you should certainly make time for on your way to or from Encinitas. There's a cozy atmosphere. The selection of coffees and teas is wonderful and baked goods are scrumptious. The only drawback here is that this stop is reached Best Buy auto. So it's not near other stores where you can stop in for a respite while doing shopping or other activities.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop in a historic building (an old train station)! The coffee was good. Food seemed a bit overpriced and my breakfast burrito was pretty small. The chocolate croissant was also just okay. Service was great though. It's an overall cute spot with good people-watching.

Yelp
My friend took me here in my first trip to San Diego. It was very busy but for good reason. I wanted to order 1 of everything. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered an oat milk latte and my friend got a mocha. We shared the tuna melt and quiche. The fruit salad was very fresh and everything tasted amazing. I loved the little merchandise area they had inside. I ended up purchasing one their shirts that was on sale and it's probably one of the comfiest shirts I own now. Would love to come back on my next visit.

Yelp
I recently visited with my best friend. Great service. Loved their chai. My best friend got some type of coffee that she usually gets when she goes to Pannikin. I love the place, including the Adirondack chairs outside. We sat there at chatted. It was a nice time!

Yelp
Have been coming here as long as I can remember. I love the vibes of the OG location the most plus it has the best indoor and outdoor seating. Absolutely love their shop and fine teas and mugs selection. Never really have to wait that long for coffee or baked goods. Everyone is always friendly and very accommodating to orders. Most of our baristas have given us great recs too! I absolutely love the Jimi Hendrix and it's my go-to no matter what. Perfect cinnamon and Mexican mocha mix plus so much espresso. I just love it! Honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu because their coffee itself is fantastic and their baked goods are just unreal.

Yelp
This review is for a rainy day refuge in the historic train station and highly functional coffee roasting, super pastry baking café, known as Pannikin Coffee n Tea, in Leucadia. We sought coffee, breakfast, and refuge on this rainy day, and found it to be quite tasty & cozy. The bake goods was a relative cornucopia of flour, sugar and amazing pastries. Under the glass it looked as though it was a baked goods utopia, or heavenly place. Which left me to ponder this: If Dantè and his theoretical hell has many levels of peril and pain, then there must be an equal and opposite Heaven, with layers or levels of heavenly bliss. Pretty sure this bakery would qualify as such. A nirvana of baked goods full of flavor and texture. That said, for me, it's more of actual layer of temptation and hell... that's because I really try not to eat these types of things.... Very good, mocha coffee too. A must experience when in the area. by other bakeries. Temptation through the counter glass was amazing.

Yelp
An Encinitas icon serving delicious coffees and teas along with desserts and breakfast foods. Pannikin's unique interior makes for the perfect backdrop for people watching while eating a slice of their pie or a giant scone. The workers are always kind and patient and I also enjoy looking around in the little shop inside - great place to get a gift for a visitor.

Yelp
I had a brief visit here a while back. I had driven by here multiple times and finally had time to stop by. This charming coastal coffee shop is set up inside the old train station for Encinitas. Love the interior and the decor. The building is opened up and very airy. The coastal breezes weave in and out keeping everyone comfortable. I wasn't looking for anything to eat so I of course had to try their Matcha. After I placed my order I discovered the global tea and coffee room. What a wonderful find. So many teas and coffees to choose from. They offer black teas, oolong, organic teas, green teas and some strong smelling coffee beans. All fresh and waiting for one to purchase. The outdoor sun-drenched patio was so inviting on the day I came, I truly enjoyed sitting outside and people watching. My only disappointment was my drink. I realize Matchas are not every coffee/tea places specialty but this one was just tasteless. Service was quick and efficient but not overly friendly. Glad I stopped by and perhaps I will return on another day to try some of their teas. These all looked really good.

Yelp
Great spot for hanging out with a friend, but not ideal for working--**there's no WiFi.** My husband had a blueberry muffin, and I tried the Vietnamese coffee and a lemon poppyseed muffin. Honestly, everything was underwhelming. As someone from North Carolina, paying $9 for coffee felt steep, and unfortunately, the taste didn't justify the price.

Yelp
Food needs a little more flavor. But it was still good. The hendricks drink is BOMB!

Yelp
We recently discovered Pannikin via the Too Good To Go app. It was a great segue! I absolutely love the corn muffins -well actually all the muffins but my kids love the corn muffins too! There's always a crowd there, which is a good sign! Definitely a lot of bicyclist after their morning rides It's very family friendly as well. I have been pretty lucky with the parking as well. Sometimes I have to park nearby in the neighborhood, but it always works out. On Sunday athey have free music on the patio with local artists. They also have a little shop that sells coffee and tea, and other little gadgets!

Yelp
Great location off the Pacific Coast Highway with lots of outdoor seating on a pleasantly cool sunny afternoon. It's really challenging to find parking, maybe10 on site behind the building, so we found residential street parking about a half block away. The aesthetic of the large yellow house is welcoming and fun. (5/5) I appreciated sitting in half shade/half sun and people watching. Lots of folks sit outside with their dogs to enjoy brunch and companionship. You order and pay at the counter and then find seating. We ordered the tuna melt (3/5, open face, on sourdough), the breakfast bagel (3/5 eggs and Jack, on a jalapeño cheese bagel), and the Indian curry chicken on salad (3/5-very small portion of the chicken, on big bed of mixed greens, kind of bland, with raisins, and olives on the side). The food came out in 15 minutes. Everything was decent but nothing to rave about.

Yelp
The food is fine, I guess, but I had a really unpleasant experience here. I ordered a breakfast burrito ($13) and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee ($8). The final price lands above $25 and that seems weird to me but I'm tired and I don't really question it. They hand me a number and I sit down at a table. I get my burrito and I finally realize why it's more than I thought. They made it with a spinach tortilla for no reason. I finish my burrito and I'm waiting for my drink for what feels like about ten minutes after the food arrives. After I finish my food I walk back up to the counter with the number that wasn't taken away from me from the waiter (HENCE, why I thought something was still coming to me). I let the woman who took my order know that my iced coffee was forgotten about and she says she thought I left and was calling it out at the counter in the other room. Okay... that's a pretty terrible system for a "for here" order. Why have the customer have to do two things? But whatever. She offers to make another one so I wait a few more minutes. When she makes the drink again she gives me this lecture about not being afraid to ask if I don't get my things. I DID come up at let you know I didn't get my drink. Maybe she meant it to be encouraging, but I honestly just found it condescending. The coffee shop is cute and the food is passable (expensive), but I really did not enjoy the service at all. I came in really wanting to like the place, too.

Yelp
I worked at a pannikin for a while, I love the food especially the coconut cream pie. The place itself is bright yellow and has a nostalgic feel. The drinks are great and the coffee is top tier. The Mexican mocha uses ibarra and it's super dank, the servers are super nice and never get my order wrong. Wholesale tea and coffee too. Over all such a great local business.
google avatar

Katie D.

Yelp
Favorite local spot! Right on the 101, so take your self on a walk to the beach with your coffee and treats or sit and enjoy the beautiful patio and outside area. Coffee is the best, staff is friendly and you can pick up any other good eats or goodies inside
google avatar

Megan P.

Yelp
Been on my bucket list since high school to visit! Finally did. Cute place and love the seating options. Enjoyed people watching as I worked on my computer. Staff was friendly. When I arrived the line was long but it turned over quick! As for the food, I ordered the "Joey" and a jalapeño bagel. All together came out to $16. A bit pricey imo (even heard a couple of people that have been before remark the price change). It wouldn't be a regular spot for me, but if I had family/friends visiting I would take them at least once!

Yelp
This is a such a great place, the building itself has so much character, but the coffee is really what brings me back year after year. They have plenty of seating both in side and out. This is the original location which used to be the Encinitas Train Station. They roast their own coffee, and have an extensive drink menu, including teas. They serve breakfast items as well, and their pastries and baked goods, some gluten free options and they're all divine, decadent, and delicious. They have a section of the coffeehouse with a great selection of swag, coffee related items, and gifts. I usually am visiting in the summer months, so I get their iced espresso drinks. They have an outrageous blueberry muffins called a Big Top Muffin made with while wheat bran and loaded with blueberries. And their MAGIC BAR- with milk & white chocolate, coconut, and pecans is phenomenal. Great spot! Always good! Always friendly. But, get there early if you don't like lines.

Yelp
Place is a local Gem! If you don't know, I feel sorry for you. It's a must if in Encinitas....

Avalee C.

Yelp
Coffee/ espresso is very good. Food and desserts very good. But the place is filthy. The place needs to be shut down for a few days and cleaned from the kitchen to the bathrooms to the front counter.
google avatar

Layla S.

Yelp
The Barista made the absolute worst Chai Tea Latte with coconut milk that I have ever Had!!! I had to throw it out after a few sips!! Will never go there again!

Yelp
This place is in desperate need of a thorough scrub down. Once that's done, rinse and repeat five more times. Now, let's talk about the order line. When the staff are actually being attentive, it works great. But it doesn't. C'mon this is a 1 star review. How can you be surprised? The staff are taking orders wildly and taking payments out of order. People will be standing in line for 15mins and then get skipped by 3 people because of this disorganized chaos. Dear staff, just be more attentive and go beyond the bare minimum and this can be avoided. Finally, let's discuss the price. $4.50 for a large drip. Those are clown prices. Ye they are. Cut down on the inefficient staff and you'll be able to reduce your prices. Honor the customers above all esle.

Yelp
GET AN EARLY START OR ELSE Go early because parking and customer lines make later times a grind. Check out my pics for details about the establishment's ambiance - overall a nice place on the PCH. My Birthday Girl "Queen Orchid von Sweetie Pie I" ordered an Earl Gray, on this cloudy day. And, I had a cup of Joe and a coffee cake to go. CHOCOLATE CHIP COFFEE CAKE (SORT OF) This eye-catching and untraditional coffee cake earns high marks for its out-of-the-box approach. Unfortunately, the coffee cake's topper lacked flavor and tasted more like flour. The chocolate cookie dough topper deflated my chocolate punch expectations (frowny face emoji). The coffee cake was juxtaposed with the topper. The dense, moist, and lightly sweetened cake gave a subtle cinnamon nod, to its traditional cousin. Boom-Shaka-Laka - the cake stands on its own paired with a less sweet coffee or palette. MEXICAN CHOCOLATE MOCHA LATTE Baristas delivered an off-menu one-of-a-kind coffee elixir. My well-executed coffee balanced syrup, chocolate, and aromatic coffee flavors. I like sweeter coffees so my Barista added raspberry syrup. The Barista's Mexican Chocolate recommendation brought home the win. And, my sweet and bold cup of Joe pushed away coastal clouds gray! ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER RATING I'll be back.

Yelp
Coffee & bagel was good. Decent amount of seating & beautiful views. Very cool to see the coffee beans be ground, and the variety of pastries & drinks was also impressive. Not sure if the hour wait in line was worth it to me tho.
google avatar

Saoimanu S.

Yelp
The Spanish mocha is delish! I'd recommend it for something on the sweeter side. I also tried the Vietnamese coffee which wasn't as smooth as I typically like it. The food was fine, nothing crazy good in my opinion. I think the real highlight is the ambience of the place. There's plenty of seating and the shop inside with all kinds of goodies including a variety of loose leaf teas is captivating. The pastries were beautiful and looked homemade, too. I'll have to return to try one of em. I know some folks don't like when coffee shops don't have WiFi but at Panikin, they make it easy for you to be present with whomever you're with... including yourself. They have no WiFi but the location is awesome and the service is wonderful!
google avatar

Parisa O.

Yelp
The ambiance is what sells Pannikin. Perfect place to hangout with friends, inside and outside seating. No wifi so seating is always ample as people aren't often staying for very long periods of time. Food and drinks are good, the bakery goods especially are fully worth it, but ~$18 for a basic tuna melt is a bit much.

Yelp
POPULAR AND PACKED YET OVERRATED (3 stars) - FOOD: meh - PRICE: meh - SERVICE: meh - AMBIANCE: outdated cafe but spacious and comfortable outdoor seating area Don't know what the hype is all about. It's a chill spot to sit. Mix of locals, cyclists, down owners drinking coffee/espresso or having breakfast. Today their was live music - not always the case. Line is always out the door but moves at a decent rate. You order and pay, sometimes the order will be ready before you seat yourself or you can seat yourself and they bring out the order (kind of unorganized they don't give you a number so how do they really know where to print your order without you flagging them down). BAGEL WITH CREME CHEESE ($5.75) - kept it basic. Wasn't hungry but needed carbs for energy. The bagel tasted like a Sara Lee prepackaged bagel from the local grocery store. It wasn't that great at all. To be charged for that price for that kind of bagel was a waste of money. DO NOT RECOMMEND. DECAFE VANILLA LATTE ($7.00) - their beans are good! This was a "for here" order because I hate being wasteful and using paper cups when it can be served in a ceramic cup. I was handed a paper cup and I reminded them it was an order for here. He dumped my drink in a tall glass cup. Uhm ok? Doesn't seem like an appropriate drinking cup selection for a hot beverage. It tasted like a latte but felt it could have been made with some effort and care. SERVICE. They don't really have a "customer service" tone here... you are basically being served without any customer service. After correcting the guy that helped me that the Oder was for here. He then expected me to carry all that to a seat knowing my handles are super full so I asked for help and he said "go find a seat I will bring it to you". He couldn't even find me and was walking all over the place and I had to stand up and wave him down. Maybe a smile or a hello or something. The employees helping people that look miserable. Been here done that and over it. Until the next review.
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
I like this place, but it is for slowing down to enjoy a conversation. The food isn't good enough and is too expensive to grab a quick bite. Come here to relax and enjoy catching up with your friends.
google avatar

Tyson C.

Yelp
What a weird and funky place!!! Staff seem friendly, helpful and attentive. The food here was nothing special. I got the huevos ranchero's and the beans tasted more like chili. It was a white washed Mexican dish. My wife got the Caprese salad and was satisfied, but it seemed heavy on bread and light on mozzarella and tomatoes. Birds were flying around inside and bird poop was all over the rafters inside. For hygienic reasons the ceiling needs to be inclosed, instead of having open rafters. Birds have created nest and pooped all over. This place is funky af and for that reason they get 4 stars. I would not go here for the quality of food, but for the funky experience you will no where else.

Yelp
A long-standing local restaurant,Pannikin, located in Leucadia a beach community located in City of Encinitas is a hot spot for your "anytime coffee, pastry, breakfast sandwich, desserts, and sandwiches. There is both indoor and outdoor seating filled with walkers, bikers, beach-goers, and families. Prices on the. help and website are totally wrong!... prices doubled. all been doubled. Bummer as I went here because of prices posted on yelp. Food, service and ambiance - great!!!
google avatar

Kayla P.

Yelp
Okay, Pannikin is an iconic part of Encinitas (I mean just look at the building's exterior!), so I was really excited to finally try it. That being said, I had mixed feelings about my experience. Like many other reviews said, it can get really busy here, and parking can be difficult. To avoid this, I went at a late-ish time, so I was able to easily find parking, and there wasn't too many people there. I was amazed by the ambiance at Pannikin! It's so comforting and homey, I absolutely loved the vibes. It was really unique, and I can see why many people might like to just spend time here. The staff were also really nice and friendly! However, it was so, so hot when I went. I don't know if the building doesn't get good ventilation, but it was stuffy and hot in there. I felt really bad for the workers, who have to stay in there for an extended period of time. I couldn't really tolerate it for too long before I had to step out. We got some pastries, but I have to say I was a little disappointed. Maybe it's because we went later in the day, but the croissant was really dry. The muffins were also a little dry, but I really liked the flavor. There was also one fruity one that I did not enjoy all that much. Overall, I'm glad I went, but I'd say my opinion of Pannikin is rather ambivalent.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try their breakfast. There was a line out the door but moved quickly. Our breakfast was good although the chili that comes with scrambled eggs wasn't the best. Would definitely go back and try other menu items.

Lyn A.

Yelp
Awesome service. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast was great. I ate there twice. I had breakfast tacos one day and a bagel sandwich the next time. Both excellent and they arrived hot. Came with a variety of salsas. Really good - strong coffee. (If you're looking for a more traditional breakfast place this may not be it - there are only scrambled eggs)
google avatar

Traci D.

Yelp
Kayla was sooooo helpful! Friendly, gave us great suggestions, couldn't have been nicer! I just moved here and I will be back everyday. Nice to know I will get to see Kayla working hard behind the counter.
google avatar

Denisse A.

Yelp
Beautiful spot to seat and relax. I ordered a chai latte and it was delicious. They also have a variety of different kinds of coffee and teas.
google avatar

Chad R.

Yelp
Space is everything...this place has tons of space for seating...and a decent cup of joe. Service is good...but the space at the counter is super small....I bumped into multiple people and it's so loud in that small space the order gets messed up.
google avatar

Alyssa S.

Yelp
Sometimes the old school is the best school! This place has the crunchy open-since/the-70s vibe that makes it different than all the new trendy places. But the coffee is delicious. Had a wonderful cappuccino with perfectly frothed milk. The line is a little long but that's because it is popular. I would have sat outside and enjoyed the patio today except that I wasn't dressed warm enough. Always a treat to come to this Pannikin.
google avatar

Leisha B.

Yelp
Pannakin is SUPER cute and clearly a destination while you're in Encinitas, but the food left us longing for more. Super spacious patio, lots of seating inside, great ambiance for a shabby chic coffee - but honestly our food was just, not it. The acai bowl was completely frozen, the eggs were cold, the toast was not toasty, the bacon comes pre chopped, it just didn't suit our brunching needs. Friend got the breakfast sandwich, probably your best bet if hungry!
google avatar

Lydia L.

Yelp
I think I've reviewed this place before but I can't get enough of it! The coffee is top notch and the decor and ambience is eclectic and fun. They roast their own coffee and their signature flavors are strong and delicious. My favorite one is the Jimi Hendrix however with the help of the barista took out the hazelnut and replaced it with pumpkin spice. Yes!!! Adding a pumpkin muffin I felt it was Fall with 78 degree weather. The avocado toast was a bit messy but the vegetables we're fresh. Parking is super difficult to find so expect to take a little walk.
google avatar

Gerry L.

Yelp
Came here for just a cup of coffee. Very good coffee. They roast their own coffee beans. No bad after taste. They also have lots of desserts and other food selections.
google avatar

Cristina S.

Yelp
Lukewarm cappuccino should be illegal. Cute place, but coffee needs to be hot or iced. Disappointed.
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
My friend and I dropped by here on a Saturday afternoon for a pick-me-up. It is quaint place with indoor and outdoor seating. There was a decent line when we arrived that moved a little slow, but it was okay. My friend and I ordered a slice of raspberry pie, a cookie dough coffee cake, a chocolate chip cookie and a cinnamon roll. The cookie was just all right. I would pass on it. Everything else was pretty good, and I would order it again. I didn't try any of their drinks, but there's always next time.

Yelp
This is a nice and cozy little coffee shop/cafe that you can enjoy the local scenery and dine great food
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this place , such a bright cozy environment. Came for coffee and a pastry . Which was delicious. Also bought the best smelling candles! They have a little shop on the side with all kinds of tea and candles . Overall I am looking forward to come back again .

Yelp
Great staff, delicious food, nice atmosphere, cool shop, and tea selection. They have indoor and outdoor seating.
