How to Ski the Powder Highway in Canada

"The drive between Fairmont Hot Springs and Panorama is quick at just over 30 minutes by car — but the two resorts couldn’t be more different. While both are family-friendly and laid back, Panorama is a big mountain with 4,265 feet of vertical and almost 3,000 acres of skiable terrain. The ski area is known for its giant on-mountain hot tubs, private heliskiing, and walkable ski village. You can also reach Panorama Mountain Resort directly from Calgary along a supremely scenic drive that cuts through the mountains and takes just under three-and-a-half hours. How to Ride: Depending on their pass type, Ikon Pass holders can ski for up to seven days at Panorama. Single-day lift tickets start at 135.20 CAD (around $96)." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. In British Columbia, Skiers and Forest Conservationists Work in Tandem

"On a bright blue-sky day at Panorama Mountain Resort in British Columbia, I don my skis and make my way up the mountain, riding three different chairlifts to reach its lofty summit. The view from the top is instantly gratifying: Thousands of shimmering snowcapped peaks across two of the continent’s most iconic mountain ranges, the Canadian Rockies and the Columbia Mountains, wink at me from all directions. I’m standing at the apex of one of North American skiing’s Top 10 vertical drops. But that’s not what I’m here to see. I came for the trees. Panorama’s high country is home to western Canada’s first and only endangered tree: the Whitebark pine. And this resort is at the helm of a new partnership with the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada to save it."

A secluded piece of paradise even/especially in the Summer. It is a bit out if the way from Invermere, but has everything you need all in one spot. There are great restaurants and many activities to do. The Wild Ride was definitely a fun experience! It is great for all ages. There were children and even seniors who were coming down the thrilling track. The large pool area has different temperature pools and is set against the picturesque backdrop of the surrounding mountains. There are great walking pathways near the river and the everything is kept so clean. Not having AC in the bedrooms is disappointing because it can get quite hot. The lobby has some fun games to play as a family. One suggestion might be to offer an all inclusive pass for all of the activities so that you don't need to take time to pay separately or worry how many times you will participate in the activity.

We stayed a night at Panorama and had a great time overall! The Wild Rider Mountain Coaster was absolutely the highlight. Super fun and fast, with an exhilarating 30–40 second ride down the mountain. Honestly, the chairlift ride up was just as amazing, with breathtaking views and a peaceful yet exciting vibe that really added to the experience. We also enjoyed the swimming and wellness area, which included a hot tub, warm pool, cold plunge, and even an outdoor sauna. It was super fun and relaxing, though it did get a bit crowded at times. The lodging was decent. Nothing fancy, but comfortable for a night’s stay. The only downside was the limited food availability, which made it tricky to find a satisfying meal without a bit of a wait or some planning ahead. All in all, despite a couple small drawbacks, the experiences made it so worth it. Would recommend for a short getaway or a unique alpine adventure. Solid 4/5!

There are no measuring cups in the kitchen, the second bedroom doesn't have any closet or dresser. There is a closet in the hallway but...if you want to empty your suitcase for a week it is a challenge. The primary bedroom has an ensuite and a utility closet. The unit was clean and spacious. We love these units, overlooking the river but they aren't perfect. We used the barbecue often and ate outside. We will definitely return.

Google
Stayed at Horse thief lodge for a couple nights on a guys golf trip. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Decent beds, living area and a fulll kitchen with BBQ. Fry pans in the kitchen were in rough shape and the appearance of the units is getting dated. Still a good on the hill, close to golf and other adventure stops place to stay.

I met my children and grandchildren at the resort on Friday. Friday night was great but Saturday night there was a party at the bar connected to the rooms and the music was so loud that they may as well have been standing in our room. We had a baby with us who was awake until after 3 am when the music shut down. This is not necessary and extremely inconsiderate of the Approach Hotel and in speaking to another disgruntled patron apparently this is common practice and the resort does not care. If the resort had of advised us prior to booking with a family we would not have stayed there. Very unprofessional, will not stay there again and would advise anyone with small children to be aware and ask questions when booking there. Then to add insult to injury they were running a leaf blower before 8 am Sunday morning. No consideration what so ever for the people who paid good money to stay and relax. 😡😡😡😡

Google
The condo room we had is dated and no air conditioning, But it was adequate for two nights. They say there are 5 restaurants but only two are open and with very limited menus, food was ok, service was good, but the pub needs a good cleaning, it was very dirty. (July 9, 10, 11, 2025). The various activities were good.

Google
We stayed in a 3 bedroom Lookout in the upper village and the location is right across the road from the main lift (3 minute walk from our door). Panorama is awesome, rarely will you find line ups, and the restaurants are all back after Covid as well as staffing levels seems to be back up which is great to see. For a family mountain vacation it’s hard to beat. Mountain biking (downhill & cross country), golfing, hiking, skiing, hot and cold pools, (water slides in the summer), Tennis and Pickleball courts. Jumbo Glacier trail for an epic all day ascent, Lillian lake close by for a quick dip on a hot day, Hot springs in every direction, Lake Windermere and the town of Invermere just 15 minutes away is also an awesome stop. So much to see.

Rented a villa for 6 adults & 4 toddlers (ages from 1 to 75). There was plenty to do on the mountain and at the resort, especially for the youngsters. We played tennis, biked, played golf and mini-golf, hiked, rode the mountain coaster, climbed the climbing wall and did flips on the trampolines. We visited 4 pools and waterslides, several restaurants and the Candy Shop. We were very impressed with the Canada Day celebrations with bike decorating (a hit with kids), tattoos and we participated in the Canada Day parade. We're already planning a return trip next year. Thanks to all the staff at the resort; a great time was had by all.

Yelp
Came for one last family vacation before the end of summer. We booked a one bedroom condo style room with a kitchenette at a very reasonable price. During the summer season this resort offers a lot of family friendly activities. The gondola was a fun short ride up to the upper village were there is a ton of things going on. There is a 4 person chair lift you that takes you about half way up the mountain. From here there are several hikes to take of various degrees of difficulty. There are also a ton of mountain bike trails. If you are a lover of mountain biking you would probably love this place. Back down in the upper village the resort has several kid friendly activities available for reasonable prices. To a 1.5hr hide and seek hike to a full day camp there is lots for the kiddos to choose from. Also many of these activities are supervised so it gives you an opportunity for some quiet time. There is also child minding available for children under 6yrs. As for the rooms there is definitely a wide arrange of available accommodations at this resort, including a huge luxury cabin with 5 bedrooms to small bachelor style hotel rooms. We stayed in a one bedroom townhouse style condo in the lower village. The condo had a full kitchen which was equipped with all your basic needs. Beds and pillows were decent in terms of comfort. Decor was a mix of newly updated and shabby chic. My one complaint was the small bathroom. But it was doable for our three night stay. Also if you have mobility issues I wouldn't recommend this resort as I also noticed the website states that accommodations can not be made for those with disabilities. Sad.

Yelp
I'm giving this a very generous 3 stars, but tbh if you're booking a powder highway journey I'd give this one a miss. We stayed at "the approach". The upside is that you're just a few steps from the lift. The downside is that you'll be schlepping gear and bags up several flights of stairs as there are no ramps or elevators. If lot 1 is full? Then you have to schlep your gear on an open air mini gondola. Luckily we got parking in lot 1. Pros : New building. Access to the hot spring pools but there is also an outdoor tub in the approach. Laundry, gym, etc all on site. Cons (and why we will never return): -For the amount of housing food options are extremely limited. On Monday evenings the bar is the only food option. There was an hour +, wait for a table. On Tuesday the other restaurant was totally booked. Which left the bar again. -We are here at the end of Feb and coverage is extremely light. Off piste had brush and stumps exposed and on piste had gravel and chunks of tree debris open. We called it a day after half a day since we didn't bring our rock skis. Can't recommend this one.

Yelp
This is a review of the Panorama Springs hotel not the ski area. One of the worst hotels I've ever visited. An absolute disaster. It was so out of date that if I wasn't paying good money to stay here it would be laughable. We nicknamed it Hot Tub Time Machine. The place sticks like old food and mold. The only thing that was good was it was close to the lifts. The resort also has almost no food or bars so you have to drive into town. The mountain has good terrain and the lift system is adequate to have a good day of skiing but everything else about this place is horrible.

Yelp
I hoped for more than I got from Panorama. That said, it is loaded with potential and may work for you. The things I like and that Panorama does well: Good for families Has good, long, consistent pitch Secluded Range of activity We were drawn here because we have a timeshare that makes it worth investigating and we knew we would need to have some non-ski days for rest and recovery. Ski some groomers or take a day off. We are on a nine week tour of over ten resorts and the aging body can only handle so much! The mountain setting and lift orientation are great. From the base, ride up Mile One and blast down a moderately steep (but rolling) open groomed trail with an excellent fall line. For little ones and learners, there are two magic carpets that alleviate "lift stress" and provide a gentle, short ride to repeat the process. This lower area is made for low stress and comfort. From the top of Mile One, move on to the Champagne. This is a very long chair that travels up another steady slope with a few wide-cut groomers with perfect fall line and steady slope. To the skier's right, there are steep tree lined slopes. To skier's left is the Sun Bowl area. The main part of this lift is made for race training. The last assault up Summit to the peak is pretty spectacular. At the very top, riders can access terrain that was previously only used by cat-ski operations (Taynton Bowl). There is an intermediate road down as well as an advanced set of trails that return to the front of the mountain. We liked "View of 1000 Peaks" and "Top of the World". The downside is that this mountain does not get the quantity, frequency or quality of snow that other nearby mountains get. For some, this is a positive. However, it was icy here while other resorts within a one day drive were getting fresh snow. For others, there is heli-ski (which looks quite good) and snowmobile tours. The surrounding mountains are very big and extreme, however Panorama sits like a little brother beholden to its bigger and more snow infested brothers that surround it.

Yelp
We've been staying over in Canmore for a couple of days before we came over here to check out Horsethief Lodge at Panorama Village Resort through Hilton Grand Vacations timeshares. We had asked for a handicap room because of my mother's hips and knees. While informed that wasn't available, we made the assumption that we would receive a room as close to accessible as possible since the request had been made. Our first inkling of a problem was no elevator from the underground garage, but okay. When we got to our building the stairs up to the front door level reminded me of the stairs from The Exorcist: steep, narrow and with missing chunks. We opened the front door. Was there an inviting living room to greet us? There was not. There was an immediate flight of steps. Equally steep and twice as narrow. These two flights led us to a living room. To get to the bedrooms was another one and two flights of stairs. So the easily accessible room turned into three flights of stairs to get to the bedroom for her, and four for the rest of us. The only response from the front office was "didn't they tell you about the stairs?" and they might be able to get half our party into a studio room with a Murphy bed the next night and for the remainder of the week. The final thing I'll note is the aging quality of the resort. Small bathrooms with fiberglass shower inserts, doors that stuck in the frames, wheezing refrigerator, a six inch step over to the patio which overlooked the two outdoor Jacuzzis from the '70s or '80s which were the whirlpools for the whole complex. So we're heading back to Alberta. Not only did they lose a customer, Hilton lost a timeshare sale.

James J.

Yelp
As long as you have very low expectations this would be fine. It is understaffed and so most staff are quite new and not knowledgeable. The hours of operation are reduced for many things. For example the pool slide is only open certain days since they only have one lifeguard. The general store has reduced hours. Etc. etc.

Yelp
This is our second vacation to Panorama in the last couple of years. I'm giving this resort 2 stars solely for the spectacular views that you get being so close to the mountains. Outside of that that's where it ends. The exterior of the resort is nice looking, but the maintenance of the resort is absolutely the worst I've ever seen. This resort was built in the late 70s/early 80s and it shows. The sidewalks are cracked and damaged. The walls in the Pine Inn where our friends stayed have broken pipes sticking out of the walls. The doors don't close properly and are broken and in the newer Springs Lodge need to be sanded down. On top of that. They don't have good security. We were cooking dinner one evening and another family was able to use their Ving Card to access our room. When we told the front office, they did nothing, nor did they seem to care. Plus most of their staff come from the UK/Australia. /New Zealand. I absolutely love those countries, but the staff here for the most part really take the laid back attitude seriously. They don't make an effort to help you out and really could not care about the resort. Who can blame them though really. They are seasonal employees and are recycled every 6 months. This is from an actual employee who shall remain nameless. That said the views are beautiful. My biggest piece of advice is to make sure you do your homework on this place and ask questions to make sure there are no surprises when you arrive.

Marie D.

Yelp
Overall, this was an awful experience however that is not entirely the fault of the resort. The bad definitely outweighed the good and I would not recommend this resort for anyone looking for some peace and quiet as the families seem to let their kids run wild with no regard whatsoever to any other guests. Great for families if you have loud, excitable children who constantly need to be screaming, banging and jumping around as no one there will tell you to keep it down and actually do something about it if you dont listen. (I understand this is a resort meant for families, people are on vacation and kids are excited to be there but this was 100% out of hand.) The good: The food at Alto, Tbar, Fireside and the Summit Hut did not disappoint however there were some issues which will be explained later. There is a decent variety of runs so theres something for every skill level. *Most* of the employees we met were friendly and helpful. The bad: We booked through air bnb. This was our first mistake. From the second we walked into our room, the room above us was loudly and constantly pounding and banging on the floor. 6 calls to guest services, 3 calls to air bnb and multiple messages to our host did not make a single difference and the stomping almost became worse after they were asked to keep it down. Our air bnb host Ryland and RockiesDirect refuse to provide even a partial refund despite us having videos as proof of the noise as that alone pretty much ruined this experience for us. I was told by guest services at the resort that the unit above us was a private unit so therefore there was nothing guest services could do to resolve this issue which was extremely frustrating. Book through the resort if you decide to go and make sure there wont be any private units around because maybe then you can actually get some help if other guests are ruining your stay. Air bnb was absolutely useless in helping even though they have a form to fill out for noise related complaints. We arrived late on a Monday. We checked the hours for Alto and the Tbar, saw that alto was open until 10pm and Tbar was open until 2am so we assumed we could get a bite to eat there. Tbar had a sign that said pizza only which wasnt ideal but better than nothing and yet once we walked in they said the kitchen was closed which was not posted anywhere online. Since we had just gotten there, we had to go to the general store to buy a frozen meal for supper since there was nowhere else to eat. We also found out the next day that on Mondays and Tuesdays they serve pizza only, not their regular menu. Despite the resort advertising all of the "fun" things there is to do there, they failed to say online that most things are closed, most likely cause its close to the end of the season. Tbar also allows minors until 9pm which is great for families but not so great if your only place to go to relax away from the constant pounding on the floor from the family upstairs and kids screaming actually allows kids until 9. When checking out, I briefly mentioned to the employee how terrible our stay was due to the family upstairs and being woken up early by their pounding and constantly having to hear it throughout the day and the complete lack of action on the part of our host, air bnb and the resort and she just shrugged and said "Sorry about that." I also called again on the way home to reiterate my concerns and was told "they did everything they could" meaning they contacted the owner to inform him of the noise and to ask to keep it down which was absolutely useless and did nothing. It was even louder by the day we left so i am sure the people upstairs were doing it purposefully as they knew there would be no repercussions for them. This trip was overshadowed by our awful room experience and because of that, and the indifference of the guest services, it made it feel like a complete waste of money. I just wanted to relax with some peace, relative quiet and lovely mountain views and all I got was disappointment, stress and frustration that no one did anything about the issues we encountered. Also if you are a childfree adult couple, this is probably not the resort for you as there was literally nothing to do. (Not sure of thats just because its end of season or what.) Might be better with a group of friends but otherwise, dont waste your money.

Yelp
Amazing hotel service. Even got a free upgrade. The mountains here are beautiful! We came early in the summer year May. And my everything was open for the summer season. But having invermere so close is nice for a trip into town.

Yelp
Simply beautiful all year round! We went for viewing couple of properties and just enjoying the scenery and loved the serene peaceful neighbourhood.

Yelp
Despite condo fires, Panorama is a good time for all. More of a destination than a day trip, Pano offers slope side condo accommodations with hot tubs. For the winter months, they have basically every level of skiing/boarding you could hope for. For me, I can't even take the second chair up the mountain, the runs are so difficult. But do not be dissuaded if you are learning to board, they have a great ski school complete with magic carpet, and once you have progressed past that, you can take the T-bar with a nice little run. Pano is great for the family, with lots of available activities. Bungee trampoline? Don't mind if I do. Whether you are looking for just a quiet weekend retreat, or a day full of powder action, Pano will treat you right in Winter. In summer, you can descent bike, horseback ride, swim, play tennis, golf, hike or white water raft. Seriously, if you haven't been to Pano, check it out and if their accommodation rates are too high, Invermere is just 15 minute away giving yet another option for a place to crash.

Yelp
Service from Central check in is reliably and consistently at the level of a cheap motel. Would be shocked if anyone there has had more than an Hour of training. No show after two calls for wifi issues. Could get through with door room issues. Now a day with no room key. No phone call, no update. "Just swing by central checkin when you go out for dinner and you need back in." Oh that makes sense. It's -25 out. I get better more hospitable service at Walmart.

Yelp
Only reason this resort gets a 4 star instead of 5 is because of the price. I know it's all due to the stupid HST BC felt the need to implement, but I find it crap that it costs more to ski in BC at a smaller hill than Alberta in the Rockies. And the fact that off of summit you're only option is black and a crappy cat track listed as blue. I don't personally care but I was with some people who weren't able to do black. Still lots of options off Mile 1 and Champagne though. It's a fun little hill, good runs and definitely decent spring skiing. Weather was gorgeous, we got blue bird days both days.

Yelp
Where should I start..... Im so sadly disappointed and will NEVER return. And I didnt have huge expectations of this resort, we just thought we would try it out as we moved to Calgary a month ago and have already tried Lake Louise and Sunshine a number of times, and the kids had a full EIGHT DAYS OFF for family day (whaaaaa? We dont have that in Toronto, only ONE DAY) so we thought we were lucky to call the Panorama Springs Lodge to get a 2 bedroom for 4 nights at almost the last minute. However I paid over $4000 Canadian for 4 nights which is crazy and found out after the first night that DOESNT INCLUDE MAID SERVICE !! WTF ? If I pay that much I should have a clean room after 7 hours of exhausting frigid skiing. Also my room didnt have a HAIR DRYER and the front desk insisted that all rooms SHOULD have one despite the fact that I checked everywhere 3x. Obviously the previous tenant stole it. Shouldnt maid service check that kind of thing, between clients? Also for this price shouldnt we expect simple bathroom amenities such as shampoo and conditioner and moisturizer and shower gel? NO you just get one crappy shampoo and one tiny soap thats so small you can see through it. OK now to the ski hill itself- I cant believe they dont have a single gondola or heated ski lift or even at least a bubble keeping us out of the wind. Once you got cold (within about 30 minutes of starting) I promise you stayed frozen ALL DAY. Very little options to warm up as the tiny restaurants on the hill hold maybe 20 people and they were barely heated. Also - I literally have never in my life heard the comment "I DUNNO" so many times from staff. Each time I gave ANY simple question to the lifties "Where is a list of which runs were groomed today (thats actually a very important question)?" "What is the temperature today?" "Are there any blue runs of the back of the mtn?" "Where can I get first aid?" "What time is it please?" and I sh*t you not, the funniest one was "WOW did you just see those three massive parachutes fly over your head?" the answer was always either I DUNNO or even for the lift operator who was very proud of his ignorance "I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA!!!!" The ONLY time in four days that I asked staff something (Do you know if the restaurant at the summit sells hand warmers?) the answer was "DEFINITELY YES ! FOR SURE !!!! so I took THREE lifts to get to the top which took almost an hour as there were massive lines for family day, and guess what, NO RESTAURANTS on the mountain (there are 2) sell hand warmers! Isnt that a little important when its the busiest day of the yr and you have over 1000 skiers paying hard earned cash and its negative 16 degrees without the windchill? There should be MORE than one place on the whole frigging mtn to buy hand warmers ! Even at Cliffhanger where there is both a large restaurant and a PRO SHOP they keep the golf store fully stocked with lots of helpful golf shirts and clubs but NO ski equipment or accessories. In the WINTER ! How many golf clubs do they sell in January? Its like they are TRYING not to help their customers. However all these details pale in comparison to the worst part- this past Sat night was planned a Torch Ski which involves about 30 skiers (including me and my teen sons) carrying torches down the mountain in the dark (8 pm) and then fireworks after. We were told to arrive 745pm that night which we did. We stood around freezing for 15 minutes with nothing to do except watch a self important, idiotic orange hooded 20 yr old staff member drunk with power set up a bunch of large heavy metal fences at the bottom of the mountain.... therefore blocking off the end of the ski run before the Mile 1 lift lineup. In the dark. With no visibility for the many nighttime skiers who were still coming down the hill at 50 to 75 km per hour. Some of whom were coming all the way down from the SUMMIT restaurant that offered booze and fondue. Can you see the problem here? Within seconds TWO adult skiers went ass over teakettle and almost killed themselves, impaling themselves on the fuc*ing useless cold metal four foot tall fences (one gentleman and one lady who immediately had a huge bloody face from a probable broken nose - what a fun way to end a vacation!) What were they doing there anyway !!!??? I screamed at the top of my lungs for the other oncoming skiers on their way and grabbed all the fences and dragged them out of the way before orange hood ass*ole arrived and started yelling at me and putting them back. Then a big argument between me, about 5 other adult customers, and orange hood. He insisted he was commanded to put up fences from the CEEEE EEEEEEE OH !!! of the resort. Oh excuse me ! Lets just kill all your customers because thats what the CEO wants ! I called the Pano Guest Services to complain/ ask for help/ get security/ whatever ! and of course they are only open until 5 pm. Who are you supposed to call at a time like this ? The police? Disaster! Never again.

Yelp
Panorama is a good mountain for all levels - we had 15 of us of varying levels and the green folks stuck close to the bottom where there were enough various runs for them to be happy for half a day at a time. The rest of us explored the mountain - great runs up in the back bowl but coming back, there is a long, crappy cat track that is the only way down. It is not an easy mountain to get to - we drove the 4 hours from Calgary as airfares are relatively high to get closer to either Invermere or Cranbrook airports. Drive was beautfiul but long. Stop for groceries on the way up -- the marketplace they have is not well stocked with a lot of fresh veggies, but have a number of quick pizzas, frozen foods, even firelogs! Lots of excellent restaurants in the area - favorite was Choppers Landing - very good food!

Yelp
Great skiing....but can be damn cold...ok, I am a wussy American....but c'mon...who the hell skis when its 40 degrees below zero ?? I will tell you...crazy Canadians ! You are kind of "stuck" at this resort....if you rent a condo...buy your groceries on the way.... Bloody expensive....but possibly the nicest staff of any ski resort I have been to.

Yelp
I recently stayed at Panorama for a few days and was impressed with all that this ski village had to offer during its off-season months. $45 per day front-suspension mountain bike rental is a great deal. There aren't a lot of trails from Panorama, but head to Lake Lillian and look for trail heads across the highway. There is a lot of great singletrack out there. Invermere has some bike shops in town and they could probably recommend some trails as well. If you want downhill mountain biking, you'll have all you need at Panorama.

Yelp
December 5 was the "powder preview" weekend, an unofficial open for pano this year. A couple of things to note however. First powder was a bit of a misnomer because there was none. This is because pano has been open for ski race training for while now and so any powder was already sullied by the ski jocks. Additionally there were great swaths of the hill closed of for the same ski jocks and thus the terrain was limited. Never mind the 45 minute line to get a ticket (even though we got there early). If you are an agro, ski race bro pano is for you. If you are looking to have actual fun at a ski hill lower your expectations and you may be ok.

Yelp
Spent a Winter season living at this resort so I know plenty about the good and the bad things. This is a great place to come and stay during the Winter or Summer with a wide range of activities to keep you entertained especially good for families because they also have a lot of children focused activities especially during the holidays. The Skiing/Snowboarding can be a bit of a mixed bag. With the right conditions it is a truly amazing mountains with lots of areas to explore and the patrolled inbounds back country skiing which is not offered at a lot of mountains. There is plenty of options for all levels but for beginners and intermediate skiers you will just stick to the bottom. There are plenty of groomed runs but if you are here for a little bit you quickly learn that there is only a few runs that they groom and they are the same everyday with a few extras thrown in every so often. If you like trees and black or double black runs than the summit will keep you amused but the main problem is many runs lead you to a cat track which takes you on a long journey round the mountain back to the base and then it will take you 3 chairs to get you back to the top. Avoid Founders Ridge unless there has been plenty of snow or you'll find yourself running over a lot of rocks and hazards. This mountain is a great mountain and with over a 100 runs it can keep you entertained for a while but keep your fingers crossed for snow cause without it could be icy fun. Other activities offered in the Winter if you want to get away from the slopes include Snowshoeing, Tobogganing, Tubing, Nordic Skiing and there is also the slope side Hot Pools great for a winter night. And for the more adventurous there is Heli-skiing. Comparing my time to other resorts Panorama has fewer options for dining and shopping. If you want to shop you have a general store and one clothing store and that is it. For dining and nightlife you have the options of T-bar for pub style food and also one of two bars, Wildfire for some fancier food and a Pizza store. There are also a few other options including a restaurant at Grey's B&B and at the Heli Skiing place as well as the on mountain options when the hill is open. For lodging you basically have the upper and lower village with a Gondola taking you on a 1 min journey from the lower to upper so you don't have the fun hill. As well as some options little further a field. Overall it is a great destination with a lot to offer and I would recommend anyone to come spend some time here even if just for a day.

Yelp
Had a nice time here, it's clean and the staff are friendly, lots to do, kids had fun. Pool is a little shallow for a large adult but still fun. Rooms are comfy, only criticism for the rooms are the little sound proofing. Elevators in the Tamarak building are painfully slow. I would definitely return.

Yelp
Sweetest gnar pow just over the BC border! With its small-town local feel, Pano will have you wanting to return time and time again. I basically grew up here, shredding up the hill every weekend of the season for 12 years, so lucky to have been able to do that. Team Panorama offers an amazing program. Skiing/snowboarding has always been a huge part of my family's lifestyle, and continues to this day and beyond. One of the most attractive aspects of Panorama is that you have the potential to stay (from cheap to higher-end) right smack dab at the base of a chairlift, which means easy access to get your mountain fix. Most notable ski mountains in the Rockies require a long gondola ride to get to the main chairs after having driven from where you're staying. Meaning you will have to grab your gear extra early in the morning, drive, and get set up in the lodge or in the back of your car. At Pano, you can get your gear on in the comfort of your accommodation (rental or owned) carry your board or skis to the base (there will be a lift not far from wherever you stay) then get ready for a rad-tastic day of rippage on the slopes! The village offers solid amenities, a couple of bars, restaurants, and shops to keep you entertained apres-ski, or for those not so keen on the alpine. The T-Bar & Grill, see my review to see if it sounds appealing to you, has live music on occasion, billiards, and some tasty beer and nachos. The Jackpine Pub in Horsethief accommodation is smaller and generally quieter. For lunch, there are many options. I highly recommend if you're renting a place with a kitchen, cook your own food with groceries you bought prior to your arrival, since Alberta is less $$ than BC. Saves you lotsa dollas! The General Store, located near to the base of the people-mover/human-gondola is pricey but has a huge variety if you forgot any food or drink. I'm not personally a fan of the main lodge, since I find it smelly and full of complaining families... Haha! I'd rather have a yummy brunch with friends and fam at my place OR up top at the Summit Hut. They have homemade perogs, tasty bratwursts and some delicious burgers. Grab a Bailey's hot chocolate while you're at it, treat yo-self!

Yelp
We recently booked a trip to Panorama Vacation Retreat. An absolutely gorgeous mountain respite with quaint and cozy lodging. While the mountainous vistas provide the beauty, the village resort itself supplies the full retreat experience. The front desk and housekeeping were accommodating whenever we needed them. They quickly and pleasantly supplied us with any essential we ran out of. There are a few good restaurants and a pub for those wishing to venture from their cabins in the evening. (We rarely did, preferring to nestle in by the fire) Extra applause to Andrea Hopkins who managed to track down a cot for our injured party! Though it was not supposed to be part of the service, she took pity on us and made it happen! We will most definitely return to PVR.

Yelp
Ski/winter fun for everyone!!! Thoroughly enjoyed our ski weekend at Panarama. The skiing was great with runs for all experience levels. Fantastic activities throughout the day for children that gave us some free adult time to enjoy more challenging runs and a cold drink at the bar. The live band outside along with a hot chocolate and Baileys was a great end to the day. Don't forget to stop in at the ski shop - fabulous ski clothing and accessories for very reasonable prices.

Yelp
Great facilities when open and probably amazing in winter season and summer , but in the fall nearly all the places to eat are shut except two , only one of which is open at any one time. A bit stuffed for choice as you would soon get fed up with burgers and steaks all week . The alternative is an 18km drive into invermere, or cook back at your condo. The shop on site is very expensive , overpriced with very limited choice . My advice would be to stock up on grocerys well before you get here! The gondola to get to the upper village is only open at weekends so forget it if you have walking difficulties as you would need to drive up by car .There are no activities opperating in the fall so dont expect any , the quad bike place down the road closes mid october. On a more positive note because there are many , its a lovely place to relax , my condo is lovely and clean with everything i need and very comfortable. The scenary is stunning and the hot pools look very inviting. There is a fabulous gym here which is not advertised which is a shame as its a great asset, also the spa therapies such as massage so if you want peace and quiet and read and chill out then this is the place to come to .Fortunately i am staying at a timeshare , horsethief town homes and there are a few activities for timeshare guests / owners including a coffee morning , yoga class , guided hike , movie night , mini golf tournament , zumba class and hot pool bingo ( whatever that is) I would like to come back here again in the winter season , or summer school holidays when everything is open as it would be fantastic here if a lot busier.
