Pantai Paris Homestay in Maumere was a very nice place to stay. I had a spacious room with a comfortable bed and a private bathroom. Just a little tip: don’t make the same mistake I did—I thought it was right on a swimmable beach. It is located by the sea, but there’s no chance to go for a swim there. Still, the location is good, with easy access to the city if you need something, or to head out in the other direction for exploring. The garden is lovely and coffee is in room rate included. A big thank you for making my laundry and delicious breakfasts!

Its quite good value for money for the area. However I find that the area itself is over priced in terms of accommodation. The workers are fantastic and the breakfast is perfect. The rooms are stifiling hot and in need of ventilation. We slept with the bathroom door open and found the mosquito net was too small for the bed. I think overal it is a good place just lacking a few things.

I reached Maumere after a very long motorcycle ride. Herman welcomed me to the homestay. He was working very hard in the garden when I arrived. After we had a warm conversation, he showed me my room. I found the homestay very beautiful. The patio and the garden were so relaxing. In the patio, there is tea and coffee, which Herman grows locally. The room had an AC and big windows too. The Wi-Fi was good. The bed was clean and comfortable. The washroom was also very clean and had beautiful plants in it. Sometime I would hear some birds chirping on the roof. All the important information about the homestay and nearby restaurants was thoughtfully printed on a card. A WhatsApp number was also provided for communication. I was trying to find a money changer in Maumere. Herman went out of his way to exchange money for me. My flight from Maumere to LBJ was uncertain due to the Lewotobi volcano eruption. Herman provided me all the information of reaching LBJ comfortably and offered help too. I enjoyed the sunset in the garden before going for dinner to the warung close-by. Herman gave me some peanuts to snack before I fell asleep. I slept very comfortably that night. Unfortunately, I had to leave for LBJ the next day early morning. Hence, I could stay only for a day in Maumere. I didn’t meet Susi but she sent me a welcome and thank you message via WhatsApp. Thank you Herman and Susi for your hospitality and the wonderful time I had in your home. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Great place to stay visiting Maumere, Herman the host is an absolute legend and will help with any questions asked, rented scooters from there also which was super helpful to explore the coast. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfy! Great value for money and good chill vibes always around the homestay. Great location to be close to everything. Cool unique experience.

Susi and Hermann are wonderful hosts, we felt like family during the three days we spent with them. They gave us advice, organized our excursions, and supported us via WhatsApp. The rooms are large and air-conditioned, located in a large romantic garden on the beach. Our hosts were always attentive to our wishes and always ready for a little chat. In the evening we even organized a fun card party.

A special place, not just because how it looks and feels and because the co-owner Herman makes some of the decor itself, but also because of the hospitality and interest they show. There’s a good scooter ready for rent on-site and, Dutchies, the breakfast comes with hagelslag!

Unfortunately this turned out to be the worst accommodation experience we have had in 5 months of travel in Asia so far. We arrived very tired and the owner told us that there was a wedding next door where we could join and have dinner. We asked if there was going to be music all night, because it was super heavy base and music so that the walls and windows were shaking. The owners said the music would most likely stop around midnight and convinced us to stay even though we had found another hotel. Unfortunately the music continued until 5 am and we had almost no sleep. This made us both sick after and our trip on Flores has been very heavy after. The owner should let people know if there is a wedding or music being played, at least let their guests leave if they want to sleep. Sorry for the owners, but they should give an option or inform visitors better.

We had a great time here! Herman and his team made us feel at home. The room was very clean and confortable. The location is close to the city center, a bit noisy from the main street but like most places. Herman was very flexible, helped us rent a bike and organize a boat trip. He let us stay at his place until late at night after check out while we were waiting to catch our ferry. Thank you very much and hope to see you again
