I reached Maumere after a very long motorcycle ride. Herman welcomed me to the homestay. He was working very hard in the garden when I arrived. After we had a warm conversation, he showed me my room. I found the homestay very beautiful. The patio and the garden were so relaxing. In the patio, there is tea and coffee, which Herman grows locally. The room had an AC and big windows too. The Wi-Fi was good. The bed was clean and comfortable. The washroom was also very clean and had beautiful plants in it. Sometime I would hear some birds chirping on the roof. All the important information about the homestay and nearby restaurants was thoughtfully printed on a card. A WhatsApp number was also provided for communication. I was trying to find a money changer in Maumere. Herman went out of his way to exchange money for me. My flight from Maumere to LBJ was uncertain due to the Lewotobi volcano eruption. Herman provided me all the information of reaching LBJ comfortably and offered help too. I enjoyed the sunset in the garden before going for dinner to the warung close-by. Herman gave me some peanuts to snack before I fell asleep. I slept very comfortably that night. Unfortunately, I had to leave for LBJ the next day early morning. Hence, I could stay only for a day in Maumere. I didn’t meet Susi but she sent me a welcome and thank you message via WhatsApp. Thank you Herman and Susi for your hospitality and the wonderful time I had in your home. I wish I could have stayed longer.
