I think this bakery has now changed it's name to Menta. It sells the most delicious pizzas, Empanadas, fresh cinnamon buns, lemon meringue pie to name but a few. It was 2 doors down from our hotel and we had frequent visits to it. Delightful young girl behind the counter. It stays open until 10pm but not open on Sunday.

We had some truly delicious pastries and empanadas—so good that we ended up taking some home! I was especially impressed by how clean everything was and the high hygiene standards. There was no cross-contamination between items, and I really appreciated that the lady removed her glove before handling money. I honestly didn’t expect this level of care at a local market, and it left such a positive impression. Highly recommend!

Speaking about the San Blas market location only. I know I’m an obvious tourist and don’t speak the language, but I was made to pay twice for a pastry. They denied having the bill I used the first time while smiling at me. The pastry was good, but I’m having a hard time getting over being taken advantage of. I can’t speak to the primary location, but wanted to share my experience.

DIS TRIP

Great food , great prices, great attention, great view from the second floor. The prices are amazing and they have the best variety of empanadas. If you want to try "empanadas", this is the place. They have: Lomo saltado empanada, Ají de gallina empanada, vegetarian empanada, mushroom and cheese empanada, meat empanada, chicken empanada, and many other salty and sweet appetizers.

Came here to try the passion fruit cheesecake, it had a really odd rubbery texture. I liked the passion fruit flavor but the texture wasn't like cheesecake at all. Also had the mushroom / cheese / tomato pizza roll which was decent but could've done with more flavor. Chocolate chip banana bread was tasty, a bit too sweet and could've used more banana, good texture though.

I’ve eaten a lot of empanadas, and these are pretty decent. They have a softer dough, almost like a pizza dough, and cost s/. 7 each, which seems to be a standard price for this area. The owner was very friendly and kind. The carne empanadas were filled with onions and red peppers which I love. No olives or nuts! You can order them cold or hot. They had some other great-looking baked goods as well. Good for a quick, cheap snack.

I wanted to eat some breakfast, so I grabbed 2 hot chocolates & 2 chocolate-croissant-things to take away. I paid 30sol, which I find to be rather expensive in cusco, but still ok. The woman created the hot chocolate on her own, which took a fair amount of time. It was my second visit & time seems to be a thing you always need to have when making an order here. At home, we ate the stuff. On our last visit we took some cake & the cake here is good. But what that woman sold me for breakfast was completely dry. Like made-2-days-ago-dry. And the hot chocolate tasted nearly completely like water.

Located next to the cute Calle siete borreguitos and the Acueducto de sapantiana. There’s a couple of indoor tables but mostly it’s a take away place. Prices are reasonable - S/7 for an empanada but the vegetarian empanada I got tasted funky and had to be put in the bin
