"Luxe Camping (Glamping) in NSW Featuring unique accommodations in luxury tents in Jervis Bay, Paperbark Camp is the epitome of the burgeoning trend of glamping. Set in the bush south of Sydney , this gorgeous place offers hot showers, good linen, and a near-solid roof over your head. There's a good restaurant in the camp. In the morning there are shrieking cockatoos and a cacophony of kookaburras. This is camping for the smart set, the great outdoors for the luxury inclined."

Paperbark Camp, Jervis Bay, Australia - Explore & Book

"After a 3-hour journey down the Princes Highway from Sydney, a brilliant flash of parrots in the canopy of gum trees welcomes you to Paperbark Camp. It centres around 'The Gunyah', an architect-designed, high-stilted house of timber and corrugated iron, which houses an airy restaurant, kitchen and reception. Paths leads to tranquil Currambene Creek where you can launch canoes; other trails lead into deep eucalypt forest for kangaroo-spotting and choirs of birds at dawn. Irena and Jeremy Hutchings were inspired by their visit to Honeyguide in Africa to create a luxury tented camp on home soil. It took 10 years to realise their vision. They chose the white-sand horseshoe of Jervis Bay for its wonderful national parks, its wealth of activities from whale-watching to diving, and its sheer beauty. After waiting 4 years for planning permission, they created one of Australia's most eco-sensitive lodges on its protected wetlands: no large trees were felled, furniture is hand-crafted from offcuts, and the treehouse-style canvas tents are solar-powered. Magical. Highs This is grown-up camping: comfortable, romantic and great fun (no kids under 10 are allowed due to the terrain) Delicious and inventive gourmet menu at the tree-level restaurant Pristine creeks, beaches, birds and woodland to explore on foot, bike, canoe or horseback Delightful welcome and friendly helpful service from your hosts Lows Camping, albeit of a posh kind, isn't for everyone Due to the swampy wetlands, mozzies can be annoying when outdoors (particularly in the humid months of January and February) but tents are screened and good repellent is provided Activities are outdoor-based, so not much fun if it rains, and staying in the tents would get a bit claustrophobic" - Nadine Mellor

I stayed at paperbark camp for 3 nights with friends and we had a very memorable trip. We were all so impressed with how amazing the food was! We had a four course meal every night at the Gunyah and every dish was delicious. Not only this but a gourmet breakfast every morning was also included in the stay. All the staff were lovely, facilities were clean and the beds were comfy. We made use of the kayaks and bicycles, drove to nearby beautiful beaches, visited the breweries down the road, and just spent time to relax together. We loved our stay and highly recommend Paperbark Camp for a getaway with loved ones.

Recently, to celebrate a special day, we stayed four nights in a King Deluxe tent. An experience like this probably won’t suit a lot of people, but if, like us, you enjoy being close to and sensing a natural environment, it is perfect. The tent was very comfortable and well appointed, with plenty of space. The tents are well spaced with bush surrounding them, so privacy and seclusion are assured. There are bushwalks and canoeing available on site and Boodaree National Park are an easy drive away. All of the staff were very friendly and they accommodated our requests without hesitation. For those who like this type of accommodation, Paperbark Camp will not be a disappointment.

What a brilliant experience. Super comfy tents, set within a Paperbark & eucalyptus forest. A friendly possum greeted us when we arrived at our tent. The food and wine is excellent and the staff nice. Just wish we had more time to spend here.

Review for Paperbark Camp, Jervis Bay||Paperbark Camp is one of the most luxurious glamping experiences you can find in Australia. The best part of our stay was definitely the stunning tent accommodation spacious, beautifully styled, and designed to immerse you in nature without sacrificing comfort. Waking up to the sounds of birds in such a peaceful setting was a truly memorable experience.||The quality of the room was exceptional, with thoughtful touches that made it feel special and unique. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere of the camp was calm and relaxing perfect for a getaway to unwind.||However, while the tents and overall setting lived up to the luxury promise, there are areas that need improvement, especially given Paperbark Camp is rated as a 4-star hotel. Food was the biggest letdown. Breakfast was quite limited, there was no lunch option, and dinner had very few choices. There was also no way to purchase snacks or small items on-site, which felt inconvenient. If you're after more variety or budget-friendly options, you'll need to drive into Nowra.||For the high price, we expected a more complete experience. It’s definitely a “must-try once” place if you're after a luxury glamping escape but it doesn’t offer the value or services you'd expect to make it a regular destination.

One Night of Magic at Paperbark Camp 🌿✨🌙 by Alexander Zhdanov (Perth) As a travel blogger, I’ve visited some stunning places — but our one-night stay at Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay felt like stepping into a dream. 🌌✨ From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by pure stillness and wild beauty. Our luxury safari-style tent, nestled in the bush, felt like it belonged to the forest itself. With a deep soaking tub facing the trees 🛁🌲, you’re not just near nature — you’re in it. At night, we sat by the campfire under the stars 🔥⭐ — warm, peaceful, and completely unforgettable. Despite being outdoors, it wasn’t cold at all — just the right amount of crispness to make it cozy. Dinner at The Gunyah Restaurant was an absolute highlight. They offer a fully vegetarian menu on request 🥗🌿, and every dish was divine. The freshly baked bread, still warm from the oven, was honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. 🍞💫 The next morning, after a delicious breakfast, we borrowed bikes from the camp 🚲 and rode through the trees, spotting kangaroos and even wombats along the way. 🦘🐾 But what made this place truly special was the energy — it’s a space where you can ground yourself, meditate, and feel deeply connected to the earth. 🌏💚 There’s no noise, no rush. Just silence, trees, stars… and you. Whether it’s a couple’s escape, a solo retreat, or a night away with a fellow explorer — Paperbark Camp is pure, healing magic. Even just one night can reset your soul. ✨ Thank you guys For real magic Alex

We had a great stay. The tents are as spacious and comfortable as any hotel room yet so connected to nature. We loved kayaking on the river all the way to Huskisson Beach and back. Be sure to time it with the tides! The food and staff are 5 star. A great eco-luxury place to stay.

We had the most amazing stay for one night at Paperbark. We planned this stop of our 8 day roadtrip so that we could check-in mid afternoon and have time to use the bikes and enjoy the glamping experience fully. We rode the bikes to the nearby Jervis Bay Brewery and returned to camp in time to enjoy our gorgeous tent for a bit before a few pre-dinner drinks in the amazing common space. While there we had a chance to chat with Ben, the son of the founders. We then moved to a table overlooking the camp and had an amazing meal. Back in our tent we slept super well and awoke to the birds at dawn. The best part though was seeing a kangaroo and her joey on our way to breakfast. Simply amazing! We have glamped many times, in 4 different countries, and this was up where in our top experience list!

In short, it’s a beautiful place worth visiting once for the experience but not necessarily one you'd return to. A peaceful and indulgent escape, but not quite the complete package you'd expect for the cost. Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay is a unique and luxurious glamping destination that delivers a peaceful and relaxing escape into nature. The tents are exceptionally well-designed spacious, stylish, and comfortable offering a true luxury camping experience in a beautiful, quiet setting. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, disconnect, and enjoy the serenity of the bushland. The ambiance is tranquil, and it’s an ideal retreat for couples or anyone looking for a calm getaway. However, while the accommodation is luxurious, and google says its a 4 star accommodation the overall experience doesn't quite match the high price point. If you're looking for food choices whether in terms of variety or affordability you’ll need to drive to nearby Nowra. Around 22 Min Drive. In summary, Paperbark Camp is a beautiful and memorable place to visit at least once. It offers luxury and relaxation in a stunning natural setting. But due to the steep pricing, it may not offer the best value for money. A must-try once, but perhaps not a repeat visit.

Yelp
Ah glamping! Paperbark Camp is situated in Jervis Bay surrounded by trees and next to the river. The tent is nicely set up and comfortable with a big bed, space to move, a deck with comfy chairs and an open cupboard around the back. The bathroom is a tad exposed on certain tents, we were towards the back so they didn't have as many privacy screens which was very "free-ing" but a little panic inducing when noises were heard outside. While on the deck we saw kangaroos/wallabies (not sure) which was a nice reminder that we were just hanging out in the bush. Although another reminder was when in the middle of the night we heard a noise in the tent, a possum had made its way in through a crack! After finally convincing it to leave I barricaded the door and was on night possum guard for the rest of the night. Food was amazing, every dinner really impressed us and breakfast was solid. Search for "The Gunyah" for more reviews. They also do cocktails on the main deck, great to have before dinner while watching the mosquitos bounce around the balustrade (they provide lots of repellent). Bikes and canoes are available to use but we didn't use those. Instead we drove into town, visited shops and spent most of our times on the beautiful beaches. Overall the location and food was perfect. The services was friendly and chilled out, but that also meant things were just a little lax and not as polished to be 5 stars.
