Paperbark Camp

We had an amazing 2 nights stay here! The camp is lovely and the service is impeccable. All the people here are super friendly and want to make your stay as nice as possible. Despite it being a camp there are plenty amenities on site, a couple of walking trails and so on. We slept great in the tends but it takes a little getting used to. If you are light sensitive bring a sleeping mask. Don’t bring earbuds (they are provided) because you want to hear the sound of the forest around you. Would definitely come again!

Just two and a half hours from Sydney, Paperbark Camp feels wonderfully remote thanks to its tranquil bushland setting. The peace and quiet set in almost immediately—leaving behind the city and work stress felt effortless—and I slept incredibly well in their extremely comfortable beds. The spacious tent accommodation was more luxurious and thoughtfully appointed than some of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.|One of the highlights was the absence of Wi-Fi and TV, which truly helped my husband and me switch off and reset.|The food was superb: fresh, beautifully prepared, and well-balanced across every course. We left each meal feeling perfectly satisfied without ever overeating. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay.|A small note for future guests: being close to the river means there are quite a few mosquitoes at dusk, so it’s worth bringing some insect repellent. That said, the camp provides plenty both in the main building and in your tent. It wasn’t an issue for us—we felt completely comfortable both indoors and out.|Overall, a wonderfully restorative two-night escape. Highly recommend.

Our stay at Paperbark Camp was absolutely incredible! The camp is peaceful, beautifully designed, and surrounded by nature—such a perfect escape. The tents were comfortable and luxurious, giving us the best mix of adventure and relaxation. The on-site restaurant was another highlight. Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The food alone makes Paperbark Camp worth visiting! I also appreciated how attentive the staff were with dietary needs—they offered great recommendations and made sure every meal suited our preferences without compromising on taste.

We stayed for 3 nights at Paperbark Camp and it was a great glamping experience, made special by exceptional service and incredible food. From arrival, the staff were warm, welcoming, and always happy to help. Dining at The Gunyah was a highlight, with creative, locally sourced dishes that tasted incredible, felt thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. I would definitely come back and recommend to others.

We had an amazing weekend away here. Such comfortable accommodation and the location was perfect. We loved the quiet and the sound of birdsong: very relaxing! The restaurant is fabulous: we ate dinner here 3 nights in a row (even cancelling another booking in Huskisson to do so) and the food was always amazing. I don't know how the chef puts the flavours together! The kitchen were able to cope with my substantial dietary requirements with no problems at all. We're looking forward to returning here! A completely unique experience is how I regarded our stay in the Sugar Glider cabin at Paperbark Camp. Surrounded by wildlife and woodland, kangaroo family passing our tent whilst we watched from our bed early this morning. King Parrot just chilling out near the front steps and the incredible bird song waking you first thing in the morning. |If you can’t handle mosquito nets and bugs along with the outdoors close to coming inside with you this place is not for you - however if you want to get up close and personal with nature this place is fantastic. |You almost feel like you are on safari (even the tents are from Africa). |It’s glamping at its best and a fantastic experience. ||Breakfast was excellent. A game of back gammon with red wine in the evening beside the fire even better. ||We heard the restaurant was excellent but did not eat at the property…. Maybe next time. ||Thank you Paperbark.

We generally go overseas for my birthday, but this year we decided to travel around in our caravan. ||During our four-night stay in Huskisson, we decided to book into the Paperbark Camp for the actual night of my birthday and the whole experience could not have been bettered. We had plenty of time for a walk around the Wetlands area where we met three kangaroos. Our tent, the Possum, was wonderful (and so reminiscent of those we stayed in on safaris last year). We just loved the ‘indoor/outdoor’ feel of the bathroom with excellent toiletries, towels, etc. Even the inability to use a hairdryer didn’t matter as my hair quickly dried sitting out on our wonderful deck taking in the sights and sounds.||Our pre-dinner cocktails (Pink Negroni) so tasty, followed by an excellent dinner, and a complete surprise of my birthday cake/candle. The bed was very comfortable providing a wonderful night's sleep. ||Our stay ended with breakfast in Gunyah in the treetops. Wonderful.

We had an amazing time and Paperbark Camp was even more than we thought it would be. The plan was disconnect to reconnect and immerse ourselves in nature and Paperbark Camp did not disappoint. We stayed three nights and received wonderful friendly service and exceptional food. The privacy and serenity was just perfect. We would definitely stay again.

Hidden away at the end of a quiet dirt track just outside Nowra, Paperbark Camp feels like a secret waiting to be discovered. The elevated treetop setting is tranquil and secluded. Arrive a little early and you can enjoy a glass of local Shoalhaven wine by the fire pit outdoors or relax by the cozy indoor fireplace, which immediately sets the tone for the evening -- warm, welcoming, and unhurried. The staff deserve a huge shout out, in particular Susie and Violet, who looked after us with warmth, humour, and genuine care. Their attentiveness elevated the whole experience and made the night feel like dining in a good friend's home. The restaurant has recently moved to a set menu format. While some might miss the choice of à la carte, I found it refreshing to be guided through a menu that encouraged me to try dishes I might not normally order. Here's how the Winter menu unfolded: Flatbread, Zatar Spice A perfect way to start: warm, soft bread carrying the bold, earthy kick of za'atar. Simple, rustic, and exactly what you want in that first bite. The optional sourdough was also outstanding -- crusty, hearty, and served with rich butter. Mussels, Green Mango, Cucumber A bright, surprising dish where briny mussels were lifted by the sharp tang of green mango and the cooling freshness of cucumber. A clever balance of ocean and orchard. Pork Rillettes, Black Barley, Radicchio Described by our server as a deconstructed dumpling, an apt description of this deeply savoury pork, paired with the smoky chew of black barley and the slight bitterness of radicchio. Rich and hearty, yet with enough balance to keep it light. Charcoal Chicken, Roast Alliums, Koji (with rice, sambal, daikon) I'll admit, chicken often feels like the mundane choice on a menu -- but not here. Smoky from the charcoal, deeply flavoured with koji and sweet roasted alliums, it was exceptional. The accompaniments of rice, sambal, and daikon added both comfort and a little spark. Blackberry, Grapes, Umeshu, Granita A refreshing close to the meal. The sweet and tart notes of blackberry and grape combined beautifully with the plum wine's depth, all sharpened by icy granita. It felt an odd choice for a winter menu but still very enjoyable. Paperbark Camp is a restaurant that surprises you from start to finish. From its peaceful bushland location to the warmth of its service, it feels special without ever being pretentious. The set menu approach works beautifully here, and the kitchen clearly takes pride in showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients in thoughtful ways. If you're anywhere near the Shoalhaven, make the short detour down that dirt track. What you'll find at the end is one of the most memorable dining experiences in the region.

Ah glamping! Paperbark Camp is situated in Jervis Bay surrounded by trees and next to the river. The tent is nicely set up and comfortable with a big bed, space to move, a deck with comfy chairs and an open cupboard around the back. The bathroom is a tad exposed on certain tents, we were towards the back so they didn't have as many privacy screens which was very "free-ing" but a little panic inducing when noises were heard outside. While on the deck we saw kangaroos/wallabies (not sure) which was a nice reminder that we were just hanging out in the bush. Although another reminder was when in the middle of the night we heard a noise in the tent, a possum had made its way in through a crack! After finally convincing it to leave I barricaded the door and was on night possum guard for the rest of the night. Food was amazing, every dinner really impressed us and breakfast was solid. Search for "The Gunyah" for more reviews. They also do cocktails on the main deck, great to have before dinner while watching the mosquitos bounce around the balustrade (they provide lots of repellent). Bikes and canoes are available to use but we didn't use those. Instead we drove into town, visited shops and spent most of our times on the beautiful beaches. Overall the location and food was perfect. The services was friendly and chilled out, but that also meant things were just a little lax and not as polished to be 5 stars.
