Coqui Coqui Papholchac Coba Residence & Spa (Coba, Riviera Maya) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set on the banks of a lagoon in Quintana Roo, this one-of-a-kind property is designed to blend in with its surroundings, but trust us when we say it’s a standout. Its location near an important Mayan site means exploration is a given and there’s a palpable sense of Indiana Jones-meets-fashionista hipster here. If it feels like a hideaway, it is — there are only a handful of guest accommodations, including a two-story jungle suite with double bathtubs and a spa-style outdoor shower." - Tablet Hotels

Very disappointing! Avoid. Booked this as the final night of our honeymoon trip to Mexico, based on many of the reviews and images. In short, I wish we hadn’t. Despite communicating with the hotel in the days before about our booking confirmation and arrival time, upon arrival they had no idea who we were and it took a long time to get it all sorted. Not very apologetic. We were shown into the fragrance room to select a miniature eau de toilette. Nice idea, but after testing and deciding what we liked they then said they didn’t have it available. I don’t think the fragrances are particularly unique or special. The fragrance oils also smelled rancid and need to be changed. The room was aesthetic, the bed incredibly high up. I did find a hair ball in the bathroom so cleaning wasn’t great and there were some strange smells (probably why they place reed diffusers everywhere to disguise it). I was disappointed that we didn’t have any kind of note or well wishing for our honeymoon after all of that. Looking for guidance on dinner options in the area, we sought out staff.. it’s very strange as there seem to be workers in the kitchens but nowhere else and they seem reluctant to speak to you. It’s so unwelcoming!! I hoped to hear about some of their great food, but they recommended we go to Toj in the town. We had a welcome drink based on their rum blends (not good - stick to the mezcal). Pool was dirty and all poolside poorly maintained - beds mould and tables not wiped clean. Those are really basic that I would expect. Strangely, one staff member lit a bonfire at night so all the smoke was drifting towards our bedroom (single glazed and not firmly closing doors) making our room smell awful. Despite this, slept well and went to breakfast around 830. Nobody there to explain anything so just started helping ourselves to the buffet, which was fine. But again, service issues, the staff need to be present, welcoming and offering their services for the cooked dishes etc. A series of blunders basically. Everything felt so flat and I wish we hadn’t bothered making an effort to come here. Especially at 8000 MXN/ £330.

What an outwordly experience! Unbelievable experience! Wonderfully thought out paradise in the middle of the jungle, next to the Mayan ruins of Coba. We loved the design of this magical little cocoon and all the details: extremely friendly staff, warm welcome and delicious cocktails, their yummy chocolates and the perfumes we got as gifts. The room was splendid too, especially the huge bathtub and two terraces. We loved the quality of the food, let the staff guide you and you will not go wrong. Would go back in a heartbeat! P.S. Do not miss the massage or spa treatments-simply wonderful.

We visited Cobá today and it was truly extraordinary. Exploring the ancient Mayan ruins, climbing the pyramid, and biking through the lush jungle made the experience unforgettable. After such a unique adventure, we headed to Coqui Coqui — the perfect sanctuary to relax and recharge. The cherry on top was a soothing massage filled with wonderful aromas. The property itself is divine, beautifully decorated, and we were welcomed with genuine warmth and an engaging conversation with Andrés, the manager. The massage was simply perfect. An unforgettable day from start to finish!

We stayed two nights at Coqui Coqui and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home — the warm welcome, the beautiful design, and the peaceful atmosphere made the experience magical. A very special thank you to Matias, who was incredible during our entire stay. He helped us with every single question, organized everything with so much attention to detail (including a surprise with balloons for my partner’s birthday!), and always made sure we had everything we needed. We absolutely loved the property and the team - everyone was so friendly and attentive. We can’t wait to come back soon. Highly recommend Coqui Coqui to anyone looking for a unique and heartfelt experience in the area.

Oasis. One of those rare places where everything is as it should be - perfect, functioning and available for the guests. Great room, large swimming pools, bath, great brrakfast, parfume and coffee tasting.

We had a wonderful stay at Coqui Coqui Hotel in Cobá. The hotel itself is magnificent—beautifully designed, perfectly situated with stunning views of the lake, and just a short walk from the impressive Cobá archaeological site. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. The rooms are charming and comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout. The on-site vegetarian restaurant was decent, though not exceptional. That said, there are a few small areas for improvement. The breakfast buffet was a bit underwhelming, with limited options. It would also be great if the hotel offered or recommended more activities or experiences in the surrounding area. Overall, it's a magical and peaceful place—we truly enjoyed our time and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Cobá.

We stayed here a year ago and had a wonderful experience so we decided to come back…bad idea. The quality of our stay decreased substantially. Our room (the jungle suite) was dark and have stagnant water in a bathtub, plus our water on the second floor didn’t work. The food at the restaurant was also a complete disappointment. Last year we enjoyed a menu of diverse local options…this year they changed the menu to “local delicacies” but having traveled all over the Yucatan, this menu was neither local nor high quality. Coqui coqui has positioned themselves as a luxury brand and this hotel no longer reflects luxury or quality.
