I’ve stayed at several Coqui Coqui locations throughout the Yucatán and was very excited to try Cobá. I stayed here for one night with my girlfriend. The location is quite remote, which makes it a peaceful and unique getaway, though it’s worth noting there are very few nearby food options or coffee shops. That said, it is close to several Maya ruins and cenotes, making for great afternoon excursions.
Check-in was pleasant, and we were shown to a beautiful room overlooking the pools and lagoon. The staff were kind and helped us with our bags. My main disappointment was learning at check-in that breakfast was not included and would be an additional charge. Complimentary breakfast has always been a highlight of our previous stays with this hotel group—simple but thoughtful, with fresh fruit, toast, local jams, coffee, and juice—so its absence was noticeable. We did enjoy coffee at the restaurant in the morning, and while the restaurant itself was lovely, it was very quiet during our stay.
The boutique store at this location was smaller than at other properties within the brand but still nicely curated. One thing to be aware of is the mosquitoes, likely due to the lagoon-side setting—bringing bug spray is a must. Overall, the Cobá property is a serene and well-designed retreat with friendly staff, but personally, I would still choose their Valladolid location, where the rooms feel more distinctive and elevated.
