This is a hidden gem in Amsterdam. A nice place where you can enjoy some really delicious fries and snacks. I highly recommend to order fries with a sauce of your choice and a “Shredded meat croquette Holtkamp”. It is the best and most delicious croquette I’ve ever eaten! And I’m not exaggerating. Yes it is somewhat pricey… but the overall taste and texture makes up for it! There was a friendly lady who made me feel welcome. She is proactive and kind. I like the overall vibe of the place. It’s clean and feels retro. You can sit on the outside and inside, depending on the weather. If you are looking for quality snacks with some nice drinks, this is your spot!

Another great fry in Amsterdam. Par Hasard has been known for serving great fries. I had been in the past and went back to se how consistent they are in delivering great fries. Spoiler alert; they are. They have a restaurant and a takeaway section. I went for a quick snack so I ordered the normal sized fries with Belgian mayonnaise. The fries are served on a metal plate which is a nice touch as it allows you to eat with both hands free. The first thing you notice is the beautiful color of the fries. They are fried to a perfect crisp. They were salted just perfectly. The Belgian mayonnaise was very tasty with a nice sour twist. Lovely!

Great place. Cold beer and very tasty food. Everything at a fair price and with friendly service.

Google
Friendly staff great food for a great price. Stopped in with a friend on accident and we were pleasantly surprised with this place. They took one look at our fashion sense and offered up the English menu. Perfect place for two. Recommend to pick and choose of the menu and share.

Google
A lovely restaurant with great service and tasty food. We had a cheeseburger that was deliciously juicy and a fish (in beer batter) and fries. It should be noted that it isn't a whole fish but the fish is made chicken nugget style. British people might be disappointed when expecting fish and chips. The fries were tasty, crisp and fresh. The price is decent and the atmosphere is great.

Google
Wonderful restaurant. Genuinely friendly service and quality food. They are justifiably proud of their fries and all main meal choices are paired with being enjoyed together with fries. Also their deserts were really, really good. I recommend this restaurant unreservedly.

Went there during Christmas eve and we were the last customer. The shop was kind enough to take our order though we only came for fries and beer. It was one of the famous restaurants for frites. The fries is good. They have a very cool bar counter as well.

Google
We popped in last week to pick up a bite to have at the park. My 8 year old son who started eating burgers recently said it was the best burger he's ever had and demolished all of the fries🍟

Yelp
I found this place online ...list of essential french fry places. it was a LONG but beautiful walk for us... the french fries were good but not mindblowing. the french fries themselves were not worth the walk...but everything else we saw to and from this spot made it super worthwhile. Service was great. prices were ok 3 small tables on restaurant side...there was outside seating and bar seating also. no air conditioning but fortunately it was not horribly hot on this day. we enjoyed our food and continued on our journey. yes it's worth a visit but not a bucketlist spot

Yelp
One star for great truffle mayo. One star for okay fries. The rest was a bit of a disappointment. I really wanted to like the place but it's essentially an elevated fry shop. Average fries (the large was not very large amongst two people) and the croquettes (we ordered one pulled beef and one shrimp) were average. It took 50 minutes for them to bring the food out despite the fact that only 3 tables were busy. Somehow the table beside us who ordered fries as well but much later than us got their food before us. And then paying the bill was another chase. I think it's existing base on prior recommendations of when it was good, but service must pick up if it is to go on to be a recommended fry shop.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise. Simple food, but done so so well. Fish and chips, so simple but so easy to mess up still. And the atmosphere is great too. What I like is that the management, but also the staff is so hands-on... Compliments in place!

Yelp
Service is pretty slow like most restaurants in the area. The fries and house-made mayonnaise are both fantastic. Good beer selection. Don't get the beef stew. It's sweet. Not too crowded when we went and we enjoyed it.

Yelp
I came here 3 times in the last five days and I love it. Steak tartare is good, bitternallen are amazing and the pea/mint soup is fantastic. I recommend.

Yelp
Went here to check out their renowned fries. The fries were pretty good, but what was the real knockout were the sauces. We had the spicy mayo, the truffle mayo, and the curried ketchup and each of them were so delicious. Definitely worth checking out just to try those sauces.

Yelp
I thought this was a good place for all sorts of fried food. I didn't find anything that was outstanding but enjoyed everything I had. I think it's a consistant reliable place.

Yelp
The absolute best meal I've had here in Amsterdam! The food was delicious and had a homemade, authentic taste. The service was attentive and helpful. Great beer options. Loved every minute of it. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
I wanted to check out this place for a while, and yesterday was the day for me to finally give it a try. Oh man, I don't know if I can even write a review for the food... but here you go, as usual notes for myself in case I am here again. Fries were ok. Croquettes were regular croquettes. My entire dinner was just carbs. I ordered spare ribs to go, and they were a bit tough. Slow service, had to ask for everything (plates, cutlery, menu (snack menu) I don't think I want to eat that many potatoes in one sitting anymore, plus they were just regular french fries, nothing special.

Yelp
Genuinely disappointed. Looked nice enough yet we sat for 25 minutes without being served. They served all the tables around us + after we had reminded them to come to our table and take our order, they still didn't come to our table. We eventually left as nobody seemed interested in taking our order - not even an apology when we left. Shocking customer service.

Yelp
They got the best fries I have ever tried(requested extra crispy though),tried the croquettes too(liked them too). Over this was one of best restaurants I have tried in Amsterdam....I liked the people who served my order... cheers guys

Yelp
Very nice restaurant, no nonsense service, great environment and last but not least nice fries. But some things are wrong. First of all the fries are put on a big metal plate, for 2 persons to share. Effect: fries will be cold in just a second. Second the menu could have more "snackbar" food. I am missing a good (more healthy) hamburger, chicken sate (instead of pork), "kroket" menu with vegetable salad and fries. They shouldn't try to make this restaurant too "fancy" with french brasserie food. It is not fitting with the concept of "Frites from Zuyd". The concept of a fancy snackbar would be much more succesfull compared to french brasserie. But I am going to give it another try for sure!

Yelp
Came to this restaurant our first night in Amsterdam thinking we were going to Frites from Zuyd which is recommended in the Lonely Planet Amsterdam Guide. After some initial confusion decided to stay and grabbed a seat in the restaurant. This was our first experience with Amsterdam customer service so we were a bit surprised by how slow the service was and how aloof our server was. Things only got slower from there. Thirty minutes after finally taking our order, the server said that the kitchen had lost our order so it would be another 40 minutes before our food would come and did we still want our food? Umm, yeah we still want our food! Eventually the food came and it was fine. I didn't see what the big deal was about these fries because I had definitely had a lot better elsewhere. All in all, an interesting introduction to Amsterdam and luckily we found better restaurants in the days to come.
