Stayed here one night. The rooms are clean and accommodating. But the thing that sets this place apart is the management. The lady that runs the place is the best. Very nice and friendly and she makes good coffee! Next time I'm in Tahoe I will only stay here.. it was a great experience

This motel is dirty, old, and unsafe. the Ikea book case isn't attached to the wall for safety. Bookings.com reviews could not be of this place, it was disgusting. The manger rude as h..l, office cleanliness matches the rooms she peddles. ||Heat didn't work for Tahoe cold nights, the room door was an inch too short and let a lot of cold in. ||||Manager tried to convince us that the room was better than the one we reserved and proceeded to show how much better room 32 was to another, she was mistaken, it was worse.||||Don't know how anyone can get a room at this gross place. ||||See the pictures.

Two Nights of Torture - Horrible Stay My recent stay at this hotel was a complete nightmare. From the moment we entered the room, it was clear that most of the furnishings looked like they were picked up for free from the street or the neighborhood. The placement of the furniture was illogical, with a table blocking the A/C unit. As soon as we turned it on, it would shut off, leaving us suffocating both nights. The bed was another torture box—bigger than the frame, with the topper hanging off the edges, looking like it was picked up from the street. The bathroom mirror was broken, and the vanity light had mismatched bulbs of different colors. There was no coffee machine in the room, and we had to use our own toilet paper. Spider webs were everywhere, and the furniture was covered in dings and holes. The carpet was so filthy that we didn't want to walk on it. The lady who runs the hotel is incredibly rude and lacks basic etiquette to deal with customers. She clearly cannot manage the property. The office was always closed when we needed assistance, and when we did manage to speak with her, she acted like she didn't understand us. We asked for housekeeping, and all she did was pick up the trash. The bed remained unmade, wet towels were left on the chair and bed, and there was no replenishment of toilet paper or toiletries. At 4 AM, people were talking loudly in the parking lot for hours, smoking weed, and disturbing our sleep. No action was taken. It's clear that she is trying to run a one-man show but is completely failing, which is reflected in her frustration and very rude behavior. The office itself was filthy and dirty, with so much stuff and webs everywhere. This hotel is a disaster. My advice is to hire someone to handle the basic ground jobs because the current management is utterly incompetent. Avoid this place at all costs!

Very convenient location to Heavenly resort village. Bars and restaurants are in walking distance. Rooms are cozy and comfortable.

The room, including carpet, furniture, walls, were filthy. The thrift store furniture was scratched. Filthy blinds didn’t shut out light. No curtains. Torn and stained lampshades, one lamp nonfunctional. Broken shelves and dangling door latch in bathroom. Mold in shower, loose toilet. Bed was way too soft that caused severe back pain. A/C extremely loud and not working properly. I slept for only two hours because of all of this. Owner told me not to flush TP down the and to put it in the open basket waste receptacle, even with poop on it! The blanket smelled of mildew which the owner replaced w another smelly blanket, then a third that was okay. She said sarcastically “Be careful the coffee might give you diarrhea.” This was after I asked for a refund. She also said she was very rich and had 4 motels. I suggested she spend some of her money fixing this one up. She was rude from the time we arrived. Her office had a filthy fish bowl in it, her reception desk was covered and stacked high w papers and unopened mail and the office smelled like a pet store. The photos (and reviews) she has posted online are from years ago when somebody else owned it. I mentioned that to her and she said “well you know how photos can be”. I asked for a refund and she refused it. We only stayed one night even though we paid for two. I told my credit card company about her misrepresentation and filed a claim.

Positive: The staff member who checked me in on 6/14 was very professional, friendly and welcoming. He also gave me beach passes the next morning. Negative: Very minor items - the tv remote that controls volume needed a new battery and the shower drain didn't work very well but neither was a big deal.

This is a terrible motel! The room was dirty, poorly maintained and very disappointing for the price! Dirty carpet, smelly blanket, old tacky second hand store furniture, and the bed was terribly soft w no support. I couldn’t get my money back so we stayed. The manager told me not to flush toilet paper (even if I went poop) and to put used TP in the garbage receptacle (which had no lid). Also noisy location. Gross! I wish I could post photos.

Yelp
We decided to wing it on a overnight trip to Tahoe where we booked our motel on the drive up through Priceline. Since we were going kayaking we called ahead and were told we might be able to check in early. We found the motel only a block off the main street, and the location was perfect. We were greeted by the super friendly and welcoming Mei in the office and immediately both liked her. I can't tell you how important first impressions are to me where friendliness and a smile goes a long way! Mei gave us recommendations for where we might be able to launch our kayak closer to the motel, which was super helpful since Tahoe was so busy! Luckily, we were able to check in and although this wasn't the the most updated place worked for us and was clean enough. Off we went to kayak, and were able to walk somewhere to eat a block away after we got back. We got a kick out of the string of lights above our bed after we found the remote to work them..lol. The bed was very comfortable, although the pillows were flat and wished I asked for more. In the morning they had free coffee and we were off after Mei wished us a good bye and see you soon. This place has a homey feel to it, where we joked about feeling like we stayed the night at an aunts house, but with more privacy. We will definitely rebook here and highly recommend due to how friendly the staff are and great location!

Yelp
This place was a dump! Filthy dirty, not maintained, terribly soft, and uncomfortable bed. The photos the new owners have online are not current! It has not been recently remodeled as they noted. The blinds were broken and it was impossible to block out the lights as there were also no curtains. Just gross! We had paid online for two nights and left after the first night. The owner was extremely rude and said she was very rich with several motels. I suggested she spend some of her money on this one. She also meanly suggested that my 82 year old MIL might get diarrhea from the coffee. She wrote as a response to my review on hotels.com that I picked a cheap motel and I wore cheap clothes and drove a cheap used car. Look at the photos which I took on June 29, 2024. You decide.

Yelp
Super cool hole in the wall motel minutes from the lake and Stateline, Nevada. Very cozy and chic. And you won't find a friendlier owner in Mei. She's loaded with knowledge of the region and all kinds of fun things to do. If you're expecting a 5 star class, stay at a fancy, posh expensive hotel. But for a great place to crash, and relax comfortably, and get some incredible recommendations, this is it. I've been staying here for over 16 years as my go to spot. Even with the ownership change 14 years ago it's maintained high quality! Welcome to Paradice.

Shamun M.

Yelp
I was late coming into town. The owner, Yongmei waited for me as I was the last guest to check in. She greeted me with a smile and such positive energy and vibration. On to the room. I was expecting very little, given the inexpensive rate. Much to my surprise, the room was delightful. It was clean and very straight. Yongmei also hired a contractor, Seth, to clear the newly fallen snow. Seth was wonderfully informative, providing me with the in(s)-n-out(s) of what's what. And he kept it relevant, focusing on what's within walking distance (such as the Village Gondola!). Walking distance, because my car was "snowed-in". Lol I cannot speak highly enough about this establishment; from the owner, staff, rooms and location, this was a wonderful find. You won't regret staying at this hidden gem!

Brian K.

Yelp
In my opinion, this is one of the better budget motels in South Lake Tahoe. So many of the other ones are dirty and crumbling. It is an older property, so it's showing a bit of wear. However, if you don't mind things like worn furniture, and a sticky bathroom door, this motel might be good for you. My room was clean, comfortable, had interesting decor, and good WiFi. It also had a microwave and mini fridge! The owner was very hospitable and the price was reasonable. They did not try to charge me a bogus "resort fee" like some of the sleazier motels in the area.

Nadie K.

Yelp
Very unprofessional took a photo of my ID on her cell phone I didn't say anything about it but she continued to explain acting as if it is normal and every hotel does the same. She guaranteed me my deposit back next day if the room was kept tidy which it was. I did not receive it so I called her and she then try to tell me that something was wrong with my bank when she has the power to release the deposit but does not want to for what reason I'm not sure, but judging by the previous comments, she's obviously a scammer do not do business with this woman she will not give you your money back even though room was left clean. Was very rude and disrespectful telling me something was wrong with my bank when that wasn't the case at all.

Sarah P.

Yelp
I love this little hidden gem. Our host May made our stay feel like home. She is kind hearted and obviously takes pride and has passion in her property. Our room is adorable, the decorations are thoughtful and made me feel at home. Did I mention the memory foam bed. Also, May gave us a map with rad places to visit, tickets to the beach that is right down the road and she makes some killer coffee. This hotel is in prime South Lake Tahoe. You will not regret staying at paradice!

Marc A.

Yelp
SHE ISA SCAMMER!! DO NOT STAY HERE!! Absolute broken down hump of garbage for rooms, everything is broken and extremely dangerous for children to stay here, but on top of it she took pictures of our credit cards with her personal phone, then doubled charged us for the already overpriced heap of a dirty room. She is under criminal investigation as we speak, please don't waste your time, you will be scammed and then spend weeks after your vacation trying to get your stolen money back.

Sam G.

Yelp
I booked this place for my daughter on booking . Com and paid for it with my credit card. My daughter arrived and they said that my daughter had to have the credit card used. I had it and was not there. She (Cashier, Yongmel H) said she had to cancel that transaction and use my daughters credit card. Thinking she cancelled my card and used my daughters card, NOT. Both cards were charged. fighting it for a month, still not refunded. She (cashier) credited someone else's card after investigation. (wonder who's card that might be!)... Still not resolved Paradise Motel doubled charged and from talking to people during the investigation, this happens all the time. FRAUD! Not to mention this place is dirty, smells, unsafe. DON"T GO HERE!!!

Levi B.

Yelp
An awesome place to stay. Small town charm at a great value. My room was quiet, clean and comfy. The staff were fantastic. Really made sure my stay was the best they could make it. I highly recommend this hotel. The bed was good and I slept very well. They offer beach passes and even upgraded my room to a king size all for free. I will definitely be staying there again

Jenna B.

Yelp
A great deal and though the motel is a little older, it was quiet, tended to and the woman who runs it is wonderful and we had a great stay! Served us coffee on our checkout day and we got beach passes that saved a lot of money. Would highly recommend for a practical quick weekend trip.

Jerry G.

Yelp
Waffles were Good I travel a lot and out of all of the same breakfast food at most MOTELS she did really good FRESH FRUIT and muffins oh yes fresh WAFFLES Bedroom smelled like any Asian Massage place I've been in I don't know what that smell is but it's not great Old linens and no bed spread

Heather A.

Yelp
If I could give this place 0 stars I would...We booked this place, and a few days later we got notified that our room has been double booked and is no longer available to us. We called the Paradice motel to clear this up and delete our credit card information. We got ZERO compensation for their wrongdoing. They then increased our hotel room to 1,600 when it was originally 880$ trying to scam us.....this motel is trash and always will be. Scamming your costumers is dirty. Unfortunately I cannot get the time back I spent trying to book this piece of trash motel. DON'T GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

Jessie J.

Yelp
I know I already posted on this place yesterday, but we decided to stay another day because this place was so comfortable!! The owner/manager, Mei, is the friendliest person in Tahoe and she has the comfiest bed I've slept in, in a very long time! While I was in the office asking to stay one more night, another person came in right after me, asking the same. Mei was super informative on the area and had such an excellent personality. I would recommend this place to all of my friends who are looking for any affordable, yet exceptional place to stay in the main drag in south lake. Can't wait to come back!

Alexander M.

Yelp
Avoid at all costs. They canceled my booking 2 days before my trip (when I had booked weeks in advance). They claimed that they couldn't charge my credit card, however: - My bank said they never received an attempted charge, and no charges were rejected. - The rate was to be paid at the hotel, not in advance anyway. - When I called the hotel to try and fix this, they offered to "let me try again" if I paid almost double the rate! It's clear that they just wanted more money because we got snow this week and rates are much higher now than when I booked. So I'm stuck paying more at another hotel, but will NEVER give this place any business!!!

Michael S.

Yelp
Best motel in town, hands down... the rooms are clean and the customer service is amazing and it's super close to the gondola. This is where I will be staying for my weekend trips moving forward.

Natalie G.

Yelp
Do you see what this lady is commenting back to people who have been scammed by her? She stole money from someone then told them to "eat shit". Mei, the owner is a scammer, thief and overalll terrible person and all the good reviews are fakes, being made by friends and fake accounts. She deserves to be in jail. In her home country. She is scamming people left and right and using booking.com to do it. She charged me twice a month ago and showed me receipts that she refunded me, only it was a total random card. California DOJ is looking into it, and believe the card is linked to her so she not only charged us twice but refunded it to her card, getting paid 3 times for this absolutely horrid excuse for a place to stay. I would much rather sleep in my car in a bind, please NEVER BOOK PARADICE MOTEL!!!! SHE WILL BE PROSECUTED SOON, then you really wont be able to get your money back if you book this place in the near future. Save yourself the trouble and money.

Chris P.

Yelp
The owner lives in this motel and shy is rude they charges us extra after the book and the room has no wifi she told us if we need to use the wifi just go outside the room! I will not come back here again

Roseanna D.

Yelp
Completely awful! Be careful when making a reservation here!!!! I am not the only one who they done this too, read the reviews!!!!!! Not only did I book in advance at a price I could pay. They notified me 4 days before my cousins wedding that "they gave me the wrong price". I booked it at $88. They wanted $229. So they did not honor their prices and I contacted booking.com about it. They also said they're suppose to notify them when they do this and they didn't either. So I had to find a hotel for my cousins wedding and it was so hard everything was booked. They really put us in a bind because they wanted $229 instead of respecting the fact I booked months ago at the price they asked for which was $88.

Brian L.

Yelp
Booked this room for a quick weekend. When we checked in, and went to the room it smelt like cat pee and poop. We told the Asian lady about it and asked for a refund or what she could do and she immediately got offensive and rude. She walked me to her linen room to show me she had clean Linen and then walked to the room yelling "where is the poop, show me the poop" she then threw my receipt at me and continued talking over my wife and I. We just left the key on the table and left. Out $90 dollars but I refuse to be treated that way. Highly over rated on different websites.

Cherie C.

Yelp
What a perfect choice to stay for the weekend. (I totally wish we had more time, so we'll need to return for a longer stay & we'll defiantly stay here again) We had come up for a wedding, our Cousin and his Beautiful Fiancée, now his Beautiful wife. The owner/manager was so accommodating she went above and beyond to welcome us & make sure we had everything we needed to get dressed for the wedding and to make our stay extra comfortable. Truly a beautiful woman both inside and out!!! Our room had been completely remodeled with new high quality mattress, paint, tile, and the works...... it was really fun being in an older motel but have it completely remodeled for comfort, plus the location couldn't have been better (close to casinos,, shopping, grocery store & even Multiple Art Galleries. If visiting Tahoe, I'd totally stay here at the Paradise Motel again... we can't wait to return. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly, knowledgeable, and keeping the Motel so incredibly clean (that's a deal breaker for me & they knocked it out of the park with cleanliness) inside/outside/everywhere. This was a 100% perfect weekend. Thank you Paradise Motel, we will be back, Cherie & Melvin

Ana M.

Yelp
Waking up at the Paradise motel for Christmas morning was amazing. My family and I enjoyed the beautiful scenery & View We also enjoyed a delicious home cooked breakfast courtesy of paradise motel. I recommend this little piece of paradise of Southlake Tahoe to anyone new. & if you're a patriots fan as well as the owner it's even a sweetest stay. From me and my family thank you for having us on Christmas morning. Merry Christmas

Carolina R.

Yelp
We were in a bit of a bind so we chose this place because of the price. Every hotel was booked or way expensive. It looked nice but not for the price we paid. As we settled in, I happened to notice a hair on the sheet at the top of the bed so I pulled the covers. There was pubic hair and other hair on the sheets. I immediately asked that the sheets be changed. The lady in the office came to see the bed herself and she picked the pubic hair up with her fingers and said sheets are clean we paid lot of money for service that washes sheets. I said give me clean sheets I'll make the bed. House keeping lady got clean sheets and repeated the sheets were clean. I helped her change the sheets & one of the sheets had cigarette stains. So she placed another set on. Everything was fine until I asked about the price. The lady in the office was very abrasive and yelled I no charge a penny more. I said calm down I just want an itemized receipt and she yelled you need to pay state taxes and she showed me receipts of what others paid. I said I don't care about others receipt just mine. Smh. We walked away. When we got in the room. The cups provided were not individually wrapped. The water pressure was low. The next morning my husband went to get us coffee and the same lady from the office said to him your wife is wrong that hair was an eye lash not other hair. He said regardless of what it was those sheets need to be clean no matter what. I couldn't believe she even said anything to him. What the hell was wrong with her. At a $191 dollars we were not in a clean hotel. No concern for COVID. Avoid this place and always check your sheets.

Malika G. B.

Yelp
**Dog Friendly** We ended up staying here after a little rough start to our vacation. Called to see if they had a room around midnight. A very pleasant lady answered the phone. She asked us to come right in and got us squared away in no time. The manager Mei, is really sweet and sees that you are comfortable. - right in the heart of Heavenly Village. Steps away from the Movie theater, Starbucks and grocery store. There are several other shops around the Village - Breakfast is provided. There is fresh coffee along with waffles, fruit, brownies and juice. - very homelike feel - the rooms are clean - the beds have heated mattress pads in addition to the room heaters - quiet (we have stayed at other places in Lake Tahoe and this was the quietest of them all) - The windows could use curtains (plenty light came in at night, especially since the holiday lights were up) - enough parking for guests

Kristen R.

Yelp
I do a lot of traveling and have stayed at the best hotels. Nothing can beat the hospitality of the owners of Paradice motel. The bed was super snugly.

Jason Z.

Yelp
My wife and I did a spontaneous road trip from Sacramento to Reno then drove through to Tahoe after fun in Reno. We needed a place to stay Mai woke up at 5 am to rent us a room. Great hospitality. The room was cozy. The decor in the room makes it feel home like. Thank you for the stay. I'd come back if we go to Tahoe again.

Josue D.

Yelp
Don't stay in this place!!! First of all me and my family got ripped off I paid $600 for one night and we had been traveling for 12hrs everything was booked so we had no choice but to book this place. This place is not worth $600 it's more like $100 a night. Second this place was ugly maintenance was terrible patches everywhere ants, bed was horrible Tv kept cutting out cracks on drywall everywhere bathroom was disgusting. One of the other bedrooms my brother got smelled like gas was leaking from the furnace. This place is the worst! This lady took advantage because she knew everything was booked and we really had no choice....highways were closing because of the snow storm and over crowded highways. She even lied to me I asked her if their was any gas here because I saw a gas station that said out of gas and she said nope town is out of gas went down the road and chevron had gas. If I could rate this a 0 start I would!!!!g

Yelp
This place is sooooo cute! I had found a Groupon for Paradice and decided to check it out and I was not disappointed. We rolled up to the motel and it's so cute and kitschy. The office is adorned with flowers neon signs and vintage decor. There's a kitchen where they offer breakfast and coffee every morning AND guests are free to utilize the kitchen to make their food while they stay as well. There's a cute little dining room AND they have a deck upstairs with a barbecue where you can chill and grill and drink a beer all while enjoying the gorgeous Tahoe weather AND THERES A FREAKIN POOL! It's so damn adorable. Also this place is in the middle of all the action. You can walk to great restaurants and casinos. There's zephyr beach a stones throw away and you can even walk to Nevada from there! Love it! Cute as hell and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in Tahoe.

Tatiana B.

Yelp
Location couldn't be better and that's it. The rooms are old and not well maintained. Poorly cleaned, old and humid carpets and the bathroom is the worst. Toilet and shower were clogged in my room, we couldn't take bath or use the toilet at morning because the water from the night before were still there. A girl was outside trying to fix the next room (same problem) and offered my husband the plunger for him to try to unclog it himself. It was the worst hotel experience ever!

Tim M.

Yelp
The owner treats you like family, after arriving in Tahoe and the motel we normally stay at had shut down we were able to be accommodated last minute on a very busy weekend . Owner made sure we had everything we needed, offered refreshments several times , and lent us beach chairs to take to lake . Very clean and decorated comfortably. Mattresses are brand new and extremely comfortable. Adorable balcony upstairs to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

Nick J.

Yelp
Avoid this place!!!!!!! Lots of people are stuck at Tahoe after a big storm. We drove 6 hour to this motel at midnight and we were told your room is gone. After contacting booking, finally know what going on. The motel ignores already confirmed order to sell higher price to others in accident cases. They blame you for not providing credit card. The truth is the hotel can change the setting for not asking for credit card by default. Our order is non refundable, you must be kidding me we didn't provide credit card. They use this to freely ignore your comfirmed order. Nice trick. There are also some other tricks they use to cancel your room or ask for higher price from you. Booking.com should punish this merchant with no commitment.

Angela F.

Yelp
Let me start by saying there are two types of hotels in Tahoe: first are your casinos, located in Nevada. They will cost you upwards of $150/night on a weekend, and are full of smoke. Upside is the gambling action in your own hotel. The other type of hotel in Tahoe you can get is a retro no-tell motel (most aren't so sketchy, to be honest). These are all on the California side, and the hotels are smashed together like sardines. You will certainly have your pick of any $30+ motel your heart desires. Upside is that most hotels in California don't allow smoking and the Nevada casinos are just a few short blocks away. Downside is parking, usually, which is never really the best. Paradice (great play on words) fits in with the retro no-tell motel type for Tahoe. But, this isn't a seedy, sketchy, don't-touch-the-bedding type of hotel. It's actually a clean, snuggle-into-the-bed type of place. We had a "deluxe king room," where "deluxe" was a big overstatement for "standard," but that's what we expected so we weren't surprised. The bed was SUPER comfortable. I was out like a light within minutes. We were greeted with a nice welcome message on the chalk board inside the door, along with a fruit plate waiting by the tv. Also had a welcome package on the bed with a random (best way to say it) assortment of samples for a weekend of skiing/snowboarding (icy hot, theraflu, advil, etc). After we left for dinner and gambling, we came back to the room to find a bottle of pellegrino and hersheys kisses for each of us. The manager was a cute, very sweet older Asian lady. She was so welcoming and helpful, and made several suggestions for places to check out. Their dog was walking around the office and was so friendly telling both of us hello. I may possibly stay again. It was not a bad experience!

Snow T.

Yelp
This place just feel like home. We had a 2 night stays in this cozy place on 3/12/2010 weekend. We arrived the place near 1am and the room is waiting for us with heater on, bed-side lights on, and classical music. The owner left a welcome message on the board next to the door, and to our surprise, there were two bottles of Perrier water, a small fruit plate, and a very cute welcome card with Hershey's kisses by the side table (complement the check-in and turn-down). The room is not huge, but roomy. The bed is big, and cover with comfortable bed sheets and blankets, soft and cozy. I also love the arrangements of cute decoration with some personal touch, and it really has the "home" feeling. The bathroom is very specious and clean. The service in this place is not only great, but also thoughtful. Basically the staff consider everything we need and we may need during our stay. There are some books on the shelves for spare time, also a pamper kit. The second day I even got an towel elephant sitting on the bed. How cute! Next morning after we check out, we got a goodies bag with bottle water and treats! The look and the name of this place may be ordinary, but I really like this place. Will definitely come back again! Pros: Nice and comfortable bed sheets, chic deco, friendly staff, good service, complementary treats. Cons: You may hear people walking outside the room.

Kriss H.

Yelp
Trying to check in, bought and paid for the room via Groupon. Dates are correct, credit card charged but the woman at the front desk RUDELY claims, "I don't do Groupon on the weekend, I don't have a room for you!" She refuses to look at my reservation, just tells me to call Groupon and of course there's no phone number for Groupon. I know businesses earn less when they use Groupon because they have to share the profit so maybe she gave my room away? Luckily my friend was also staying at the hotel so they allowed me to share her room and charged an additional $45 for the roll away bed. The following morning the woman at reception again explained that it was Groupon's fault and she offered us free coffee and continental breakfast which certainly made me feel better. If you stay here, BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE HOTEL.

Tonya J.

Yelp
Very rude customer service. No exact CHECK IN TIME. Reserved a room on Groupon a week ahead before my reservation. Day of reservation was told by lady on phone the motel had been full 3 days ago and " Sorry, now closed" ...wasnt sympathetic AT ALL that we had no room and had to go somewhere else. She also reported to Groupon i never cked in. WHAT THE HECK???? Be careful makin reservation s at this motel , THEY PROBABLY TAKE UR $$$

Tom J.

Yelp
Granted I booked through "Booking.com" but when I learned roads would be difficult and possibly close because of a monster storm first week of February, I had to cancel my reservation. I contacted Paradice directly with 4-5 days notice & she would not accept my cancellation or take partial payment. Booking.com told me they attempted twice to have her partially refund me. She tried to charge me the day before my arrival, but I removed my credit card from booking.com website. She was still able to charge me a full night even though I requested cancellation days in advance. I will not use booking.com any more and would never stay at Paradice Motel because the owner had an opportunity to do right, but chose not to. As it was, I lost money on my Chris Botti tickets. Best to deal directly with hotels with no extended cancellation policies.

Yelp
Mai is a great host! She was very helpful and accommodating and goes the extra mile to ensure her guests are comfortable and have everything they need. The bed was comfortable and micro/fridge were convenient. She has complimentary coffee / tea and snacks for breakfast and also offers to cook eggs or waffles for a $10 charge. The extra effort is appreciated and we would absolutely stay here again.

Yelp
I was not impressed by this motel although it is clear they are trying. PROS: -Great pilows!! Wanted to take them home :) -Room & linens were clean -Wine glasses provided in room- nice touch -Chocolates, fruit & Perrier - yum -Free wi-fi -Owner seemed nice -Free coffee and small platter of pastries available at front desk in the morning CONS: -No hot tub on property. Really?? I've stayed in $40/night motels which had a hot tub. This is #1 for any ski motel. -Extremely small bathrooms. -No hairdryer in bathroom. Good thing I brought one. -No body lotion provided. -No thick duvets or covers on beds. -Small old school TVs. Bottom line: At $200/night, this 'boutique' motel is way overpriced for what you get.

Yelp
Great place, great owner! Rooms at a great rate and under any other comparable hotel in the area! Rooms are clean and very welcoming. No bolted down items bars in windows bugs or deferred maintenance. Feels more like home than a hotel.

Yelp
This is a wonderful little Motel. The owner is so nice, she is what makes the place so unique and appealing. She makes sure you have a wonderful experience. She always acknowledges you when she sees you, and made sure we had everything. She even checked on us a few times while we were here. I over heard her with other guests and I was amazed at how much she cared about the comfort and happiness of each person here! My daughter and I stayed here two nights at a very reasonable price. This is a smaller place, but that's ok because you get much better service!

Yelp
Let's get one thing straight right away, this is not a 4 star hotel. That being said, it was only $62 for the night. We paid more for dinner than our room. So I'll grade on a curve. The bed was a little soft but clean. Could use a good vacuuming and carpet shampoo. The shower head was shoulder height. Still, if you want a budget priced room, this is a good option.

Yelp
Wow, I'm sorry that last reviewer had a negative experience at Paradice, because it's a shame for the place to get a bad rap. We had a really awesome experience there--I mean truly exceptional, beyond expectations, stay there again in a heartbeat kind of experience. Yeah, the bones are those of an old 50's motel--that's no surprise. Paradice doesn't disguise what it was. But the great looking couple running the place (couldn't help myself--my wife always notices me noticing, but she agreed) has done an excellent job with the place. I'm not sure if they're the owners, or if they're responsible for the updates, but they're certainly responsible for the hospitality. The place was spotlessly clean and well updated, from the exterior rock garden welcome mats in front of the doors, to the updated multi-tone paint inside (an Asian theme), to the feng shui Pottery Barn furnishings throughout the room. The rooms are good size, as well: my wife and I shared a small bedroom with a double bed and lockable door, and gave the kids the larger main room with the king bed and the TV. Solitude is more important to us, and besides--I'm fond of her and like snuggling. Guess you didn't really need to know that. The beds are well-cushioned and comfortable. Not fancy, but comfy. The previous reviewer bemoaned the lack of down comforters, but as we always roast in hotels that have those and end up pulling them off the bed, we were far more comfortable with the warm blankets. And we had no trouble at all with the heaters in the rooms. This really *is* a boutique motel. Never heard of such a thing before, but it is. A sign on a chalkboard in the room welcomed us by name. There was a plate of fruit and bottles of Perrier left for us each day, and chocolates on the beds at night. We were even left a couple of 'high altitude welcome kits' on the bed that had granola bars, hand moisturizer and analgesics. When my kids returned the keys to the front desk, they were presented with 'gift bags' that had granola and bottles of water. I've been in expensive business hotels at 5x the price and never had treatment this good. Sorry to sound like an ad, but we were really happy with Paradice Motel.

Yelp
Rud staff! I made a mistake reserving my hotel when I put my dates a week earlier. Within minutes I called them for cancellation i and tried to explain them what happened. They were able to make an offer at 250% higher price for the time that I wanted to make my reservation. They spoke very rudly over the phone. Obviously, they didn't care about customer care or customer satisfaction. The only thing that was important was their success in pushing a customer to book a room.

Yelp
Where to start with this review is a valid question based off the several disappointing events that occurred. Let's just start at the beginning......their website does not work. Their booking site claims "free passes to lakeside access" this is NOT true. On top of the already pricey tag to stay at the motel, the beach access cost $25.00 in addition. Now this came as a shock because it clearly states in the third paragraph of their own advertisment that free passes are included. When I questioned the lady at the desk about this she became irritated and said I was argumentive. (not true) . As a hard working American who frequently stays in SLT I'm far from a "tourist". This brings up my next issue. Free bike rentals, they don't exist here. If I had known that, I would've brought my own bicycles to ride to the beach that we didn't have access to. Lol. I live an hour away from South Lake Tahoe so thats not a problem. The problem is false advertising.... which when questioned the clerk lady said that was last year's deal. She yelled at me look, at the website which I tried to earlier in the day and it's nonfunctional. It literally doesn't work. So no free bikes and no free beach access is where I start. Being a patient business man myself I told my lady let's just go and have fun, so we did. Several hours later we return to the motel to enjoy off-site purchased hot pockets because everything was closed and to watch TV and fall asleep. Well wouldn't you know the TV doesn't work and nether does the microwave. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. We left and are disputing the charges in which she yelled at us and said we already got a discount. She shoved another clients invoice in my face to show me pricing levels that were astonishingly way higher than ours, so I guess that made her feel justified but to me she was missing the point. We simply want to get what we paid for and what was advertised. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't recommend this place for several reasons as previously stated. To all consumers beware, you're not getting what you pay for and when I questioned that I was abused verbally. We hope to get a refund but who knows how that will pan out. We left at midnight because of all their lies and failures. This is my first Yelp review of a motel and it's worth it because we were belittled and I personally believe this clerk is racist against whites. I'm Greek, non white but appear that way so I couldn't believe how I was treated. Down with Paradise motel and up to speaking the truth. Have a great day everyone and let's just hope they get their website working and update the amenities so this doesn't happen to more consumers.

Yelp
Knowing that we had booked a motel and not one of the more well known ones made me a littler nervous as we arrived. Driving into to Tahoe about 3 hours before our scheduled check in time, we called them to see if we could drop off our bags at least as we drove around the beautiful lake. The lady who answered said yes OF COURSE you can! Not only that, they had actually just finished getting the room ready and they would love to see us. We drove on over to meet at the door by two beautiful ladies and their super friendly golden retriever Thurman and his best friend Bu. As a dog lover it made my day! They showed us to our room, helped with the bags and offered coffee or sparkling water if we were thirsty. So sweet. The room we rented was a two bedroom double as we had a party of four, the bathroom was surprisingly huge, very clean and they thoughtfully provided little packs with not just the normal shampoo etc but also tooth brushes, EmergenC (they must have known all these nights at the Casino can require a little vitamin boost ;) The room itself was very clean and tidy with a few cute little things but not clutter. the beds where very comfortable and perfectly turned down when we returned later after dinner with a Hershey kiss for everyone on the pillows and perrier water on all bed stands, with extra flat water in the mini fridge. In the morning there was fresh coffee and pastries in the lobby with little chairs for you to sit and enjoy the start of the day. The young couple and their mother in law who run the place were extremely helpful with providing beach passes to the private beach only a block away, as well as some very good tips for shopping, dinning and hiking. All in all I give them a solid AAA! My only regret is that I was not allowed to bring their adorable dogs home with me and that my stay was not longer! P.S. They left the sweetest welcome note on the chalk board behind the door as well! I felt absolutely spoiled!

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Don't let the outside appearance fool you! And even though it is a "motel" I would actually describe this place more as a "boutique hotel." It's definitely not what you would think of as a typical "motel." The rooms are very spacious and clean! When I walked in I felt like I was entering someone's beautiful, well-kept home. It had a lovely bed, cute decor, a clean bathroom, and a bookshelf with books and complimentary snacks. (Plus there's complimentary coffee in the main office in the mornings for all the guests.) The management is awesome. We got a phone call earlier in the day from Marina (the manager/owner) who actually lives on the property. (Her apartment is right next to the office). She called to give us our choice of room because she was going to upgrade us free-of-charge to a King bedroom (we booked a Queen). She was so helpful and accommodating! You could tell that she really went out of her way to make sure we had the best stay ever. Our room didn't have a microwave at first, so we simply asked if there was a microwave to have access to and she immediately went to get a microwave to put in our room! She also let us stay past the normal check out time because she wasn't fully booked when we were scheduled to leave. The location is great too because you are within walking distance of the main road. There's a Ralph's, Starbucks, Subway, etc. etc. within walking distance. There are tons of shops and things to do! All in all, it was the perfect place for us and I would definitely stay again!!

Yelp
When your in a winter storm and been sitting in 12 hours of traffic one thing you need the most is a place warm to sleep, to bad when your unable to travel due to the weather people just stop being considerate and instead take advantage of you by charging you way over margins because they know you have no other place to go. This is what the overnight Manager at Paradice Motel did to my family and I. 11:00 at night barely made it into South Lake Tahoe after sitting in stand still traffic for hours just trying to get home, my husband and I decide we have to stop especially with the snow preventing us continuing our travels. We were not having much luck finding somewhere to sleep and finally we find Paradice Motel and instead being understanding and charging us the regular price we paid $500 overprice and let me tell you this place is not worth over $75 a night. The room smelled, there were ants everywhere, the bathroom was disgusting and the TV kept glitching. My brother in law even stayed in a room that smelt like there was a gas leak. When he told the Manager in the morning, her response "Oh no sir, impossible". This place was a Nightmare, and all we wanted to do was get home, I would suggest to never stay here. Unbelievable and I am sad that the Manager took advantage of us!

Yelp
I hate giving this place 2 stars because the staff was incredibly nice & helpful. They work very hard at trying to provide a great experience. However, they are hampered by the fact that the building is very old. The rooms have received paint and a few upgrades but still feel ancient. Some sites list it as a boutique hotel but I would not qualify it as such. I should note that my stay was particularly bad because the heater turned off in the middle of the night and would not restart. Since it was 2 or 3 am and my companions were asleep, I did not want to place a call to the front desk and wake everyone up. The freezing room was made all the worse by the fact that there were no thick blankets or comforters on the beds. I've never stayed anywhere with such minimal bed linens. It was a miserable night. The owners were very apologetic and we were given 1/2 off for the night due to the heater problem. But the lack of heat would have been almost bearable if they had down comforters which are standard at most boutique hotels. I did not book the room so I do not know where it ranks with other places as far as price. I believe it may have been almost $200/night which I would consider over-priced. On the plus side, as noted above, the staff is incredibly nice and helpful. The motel is also conveniently located to the casinos. Having been forewarned about the age of the facilities, you may find your stay more pleasant. This place is also ranked #1 on TripAdvisor so they must be doing something right. I should add that I tend to be a snob as far as travel lodging is concerned. I was traumatized by having been raised in a poor, large family that crammed too many people into tiny, cheap motels so consequently, now that I can afford it, I prefer to stay at establishments that are 4+ stars. I am not above staying at budget motels but this building seemed more worn than your average Motel 6.
