Why These Travelers Are Spending Their Coronavirus Quarantine in a Hotel

"The couple, who live in Colombia, mulled their options: fly back and face quarantine on arrival, with cases rising at a steeper rate than in their current surroundings, or self-isolate where they were. They opted for the latter, spending $22 per night at Paradise Villas on Koh Rong island."

This is a great place to stay as long as you know what you are getting into. First the pluses are a wonderful location right on the beach, a well used gathering/dining area and it is very peaceful and quiet and close to nature. |The downside is rather basic amenities. Our room did not have a hot shower although our children’s did. The shower/toilet area is open to the elements which meant various gekkoes made an appearance. We had a competition between the villas to photograph the largest one. Also, one morning a snake needed to be removed. |Generally, the food was good and plentiful. |It’s a good place if you want peace and quiet close to nature.

We had an amazing stay here. The location is on one of the most peaceful and beautiful parts of Saracen bay, while still only being about a 20 minute walk along the beach to the busier resorts and restaurants. The food was really good and the views from the restaurant alone were fantastic. The staff were the most friendly and kind. The perfect place for a few relaxing days on the island.

We booked Paradise Villas online based on the reviews and it’s an excellent choice after touring Siem Reap and Phnom Penh for 6 days.|The super friendly staff, the restaurant menu, the location and no cars (only motorbikes on the island) have all been perfect after 6 days of touring by car. |The accommodation is basic, but very clean and comfortable. The villas are all close to the water. You can just chill out or it’s a great location for walking/hiking or exploring the island by water taxi. We will be sad to leave. :(

Paradise Villas is set among trees and gardens right on the beach. Our room was comfortable & clean and we had aircon during the night, so sleeping was comfortable. The restaurant menu was varied and delicious - easily as good as more expensive accommodation where we have stayed on this trip. We did a lot of hiking on the island and swam right in front of our villa. The staff have been amazing. :). :). So friendly and helpful. :) Communication was super quick when I asked questions prior to arrival. Our Island Speed Ferry was booked for us and so was a boat trip we did with another business on the island. We have loved it here. :)

Fabulous. Beautiful location on the edge of a sheltered bay filled with crystal clear water on a gently sloping sandy beach. The rooms are located with sea views each feeling secluded. Some have air con. They aren't perfect but the rough edges make it nicer in my opinion. The shower in ours was typical of what we have experienced in Cambodia, ie a single tap with no temperature control. The flow was not fast. I'm happy to live with these things for all three plusses elsewhere. The staff are exceptional, friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant has been superb every meal. Local or foreign food all cooked and presented beautifully. The beach at this end of the bay seems cleaner and quieter then further down the bay where there are more bars and much more litter. There is a small mini mart further down the beach which stocks a wide range of goods. There is a snorkeling/fishing trip advertised at the hotel and this is definitely worth doing. Would love to go back.

Very nice accommodations, new and clean. The outdoor bathroom is nice. Food is good, other restaurants and bars are a km up the beach.

The location is absolutely beautiful, but ended there for us. Stayed in Villa 6 Ocean front AC bungalow, walking out of your room directly onto the beach was the best part. The villa was very run down, smelly, the bed was honestly a concrete slab (they did change the mattress, which was very much appreciated and so kind of them. New mattress was a bit softer.) The bathroom needed a good disinfectant clean. It smelled like urine the first day. And they do not service rooms. Other people in our group had villa 7 and it was actually better in terms of cleanliness, but the wood holding the shower was so old and rotten that it fell down one night. Thankfully no one was showering at the time, as it would have been a medical situation for sure. The restaurant was bad in both food taste and service. It's about a 25 minute walk down the beach to the bustling restaurant/bar area of the bay, so ate a few meals at the accomodation restaurant, due to our own laziness, hoping ordering different things it would be better than the last... The servers were nice enough but in the meals we ate there they got orders wrong every time. Not the end of the world, but it got very frustrating, they need to write orders down. Traditional food was the worst I'd had in a 2 week trip around Cambodia. The location was good for us, because it is far from the hustle and bustle. But when there are parties up the beach the bass just echoes with constant boom boom until 0300am. Not the property's fault, just an observation. I was advised I paid an unusually low price for my stay. Approximately $75AUD per night, but honestly that is the high end of what the villa was worth, in my opinion. It seems like there is new construction going on, a d a few villas with hard walls looked to be newer and in better condition. So maybe they are improving things.

Just beautiful! Right beside the sea with the most idyllic views. This hotel is in literal paradise.|I stayed in a beachfront villa and it was clean and more than big enough. Air conditioning that is on from 5pm to 7am with a fan for the rest of the time. |The food is lovely and very reasonable and the staff are extremely helpful.|The beach and water by the resort are clean and inviting.|I thoroughly recommend this resort. |
