We spent a week visiting my daughter and grandson in Florida, and the day before we had to fly out, we decided to stay closer to the airport. We ended up spending the day at Disney Springs. What a fun way to experience Disney without all the hoopla.
We spent the day walking, shopping, eating, enjoying some tasty beverages and taking in some of the sights. We had decided to stop in for a drink and maybe an appetizer to share. The place seemed a bit empty and getting service was no challenge at all. We had ordered some drinks and once we seen Poutine was on the menu, it immediately brought back flashbacks of this Canadian-American pub in Vegas, and of course the poutine we had in Canada. So we ultimately decided on that to share... which was plenty for two and then some. My wife ordered her drink, which was the Strawberry Botanicals, and it was fantastic. Being a whiskey / bourbon guy, I couldn't pass up on the tempting Peanut Whiskey and Bacon Old Fashion on the menu.
The poutine was pretty good. Sadly, it's being held to high standards, and it was good, but nothing I'd rave over. My wife's drink was rockin' , but what was unfortunate was, I didn't really like the Old Fashion. It was the P37 and I kinda had to nurse it and choke it down. Not sure if it was made right, but it was lacking the flavor my mind had created for me. I think I was expecting peanut butter, which it wasn't. More of a peanut whiskey actually, but with the promise of Maple syrup and chocolate bitters with candied bacon just had me in a different state of mind. Of course, I chomped on the bacon, but the drink wasn't anything to highlight for me. The fries smothered in beef, gravy, and cheese made up for it, though.
All in all, I enjoyed the company of a beautiful woman sitting across from me. The staff was gracious and friendly, and the atmosphere would have definitely been hopping had it been later into the evening. A bit pricey but to be expected at a Disney joint. As always, enjoy the little moments of a loved one's company, and a quote from Walt himself... "Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever."
