Parador de Antequera

Convenient, elevated location with nice views and a few minutes walk from Antequera centre. Our superior room was spacious and comfortable with excellent housekeeping. Public areas a disappointment. Lounge is an unwelcoming space, VERY brightly lit, not relaxing, poor choices of furnishings. Many upright chairs and dining tables made it feel like sitting in a cheap cafe. A few for people dining would be ok, but there's room for groups of small, comfortable chairs and low tables to make the space more cosy. Two big sofas, but have tables so far away that you have to stand up and down every time you want to pick up your glass. The floor lamps are pointless because they are drowned out by the BRIGHT overhead lights. I've been to several bars at Paradores and there is not reason why a modern building should not have some atmosphere and mood lights like an historic one. The only bit of colour and comfort were two red swivel chairs in reception. More like these and turn off some lights. Awful experience and we sat in our room when it would have been nice to have a drink in the lounge. We didn't use the restaurant because it was similarly over-lit and without atmosphere.

This is one of the nicest paradors that we have stayed in! Modern, comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well decorated. The reception staff were very helpful. The views over the countryside are wonderful and it is an easy walk to the town centre. The breakfast was very good. Highly recommended!

Stayed here with my wife for 3 nights over Valentines weekend. The rooms are very comfortable and quite spacious. The reception staff are really helpful. Our tv was not working when we checked in but this was rectified very quickly. We dinned in the restaurant on two occasions and we can not fault the excellent service and quality food. All in all a great place to stay if viditing Antequera.

Quiet and nice place. We enjoy it a lot. We would definite recommend it to a friend.

Had a short getaway from the ordinary hustly & bustly of everyday life early November. Although arriving after midnight we were received in good manner and allocated a room.||Hotel rooms are large, minimalistic Nordic style with all what you need. So a relatively modern parador.. Views from the hotel is good. ||Good breakfast, although the acoustics are poor when many people are breakfasting at the same time. ||The parador is close to the city soyou can easily walk to the city center.||At the end of the stay we had a bit of a problem (had forgotten to reserve sufficient days at the hotel - my mistake), which fortunately with the good service of the front desk, found a good and amable solution. Thanks for that.

The Hotel is clean and rooms are spacious. Dinner service was a little off, wrong wine served at the table, people had to ask multiple times for a drink, but food was good and came quick. Just be aware it is not possible to take any food from the breakfast buffet to the room. I wanted to grab a bite to do some work in the room and they insisted to hand my breakfast plate back. So they rather throw the food away then me eating in the room! Had to be thankful that they allowed me to take the coffee in the room. I understand that it's a policy introduced by management, but not a great approach to customer service. Not everybody who stays is on a holiday and can enjoy a leisurely start in the restaurant.

Looked a bit scruffier than one expects from a Parador at first glance, but the interior was fine and the rooms excellent. I didn't think that the food was up to the usual Parador standard and the service was a bit haphazard both at dinner and breakfast, although Reception staff were very friendly. In a good position and I would definitely stay there again if in Antequera.

We had never visited Antequera before, and our stay at the parador made our weekend even more special. The location was perfect, making it very easy to walk into the town to visit the castle, churches and museums. The facilities in the parador were excellent, including the service. The staff were all very friendly and approachable and provided us with advice as to places of interest to visit, as well as information on popular restaurants and bars in town. We found that we needed more time to visit places of interest and will definitely return and stay at the parador once again.
