Parador de Cáceres

Although difficult to access ( through no fault of the parador), once there, it was a most relaxing experience. The building is beautiful and our large room was more like a suite and very comfortable. The staff were very amenable and the restaurant experience was fab too. An exceptional place to stay. Highly recommendable.

A little difficult to get to if travelling by your own car, but brilliantly situated otherwise. ||Is probably better for the older demographic as they seemed to be the bulk of the clientele.||The bed was very small - we are both tall & could barely fit. There was also no control||Over the heating so it was very warm. Not great if you are not used to central heating.||Friendly staff and the dinner at the restaurant was delicious.

Beautifully restored former town house in the centre of the medieval city. The building has many quirks and interesting features from its former history, whilst the rooms are luxurious. Only gripe is no kettle! So no tea/coffee! Every other hotel I've stayed in has a kettle, so I didn't understand. They don't offer it free downstairs either.

Another delightful parador in an unusual building in an old Spanish town, oozing history. An ideal place to stay to explore the old city of Caceres. Good value for money, our room was comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. There was no parking at the parador other than to unload your car, but we were given access to a parking garage where we could leave the car overnight which was a short walk away (5-6 minutes). We had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast next morning, both meals were very good.

Overall our stay was not as we expected. The room was very plain, not like other paradores where we have stayed all over Spain. We only had breakfast there and it was not that good. It's a very plain buffet breakfast, but you can ask for other stuff. We asked for churros the first day, they were very greasy. The next day we asked for a ham and cheese omlette that was very thin and on the dark side as if the oil had been used many times and tasted terrible, plus it was dripping with oil. It showed their lack of interest in making these dishes for you. We should have gone somewhere else.||The location is good to be in the old town area, but if you have a car, it is very challenging to get in and out of there. The parador does not have parking, even though they have cars parked behind it, but we were told that we could not park there.||They sent us to an underground parking garage outside the old town. They charge you a daily fee. Getting there was a challenge. We had to ask two police officers to help us find it. They told us that no wonder we were lost, the map they gave us was not helpful. Walking back to the parador was a very steep uphill walk, with half being steps. ||They give you a key to enter the garage, so when we checked out we asked them if we could leave the key in the garage, since we had decided to call a taxi to take us and our luggage to the parking so we did not have to deal with this uncomfortable situation again. They said yes, that they have a box in the garage where you can drop the key. That information could have been helpful the first day so we didn't have to stress over this during our stay. ||Needless to say, we will not return. It was underwhelming for a parador and the location is challenging if you have a car.

The Parador in Caceres is a lovely property with very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are not luxurious but are comfortable and clean. Breakfasts are great with lots of local cheeses and meats, as well as items you can order like omelettes. The restaurant is excellent and if you can sit outside, it’s a wonderful setting in the evening.||Parking is an issue and there is no info on the website so we followed the advice of an earlier TripAdvisor reviewer. Drive directly to the hotel (ignoring the do not enter sign at the end of the street.) There are 2 parking places to the left of the main entrance so park there and unload and check in. The hotel offers spots in its off-site garage, but apparently it’s a tight squeeze so we opted for the Parking Centro APK2 Garage which was very easy to access and exit. The price per day was not bad and the hotel gave us a coupon for a discount. You can easily walk back to hotel. When leaving with our bags after checking out we took a taxi there.

I stayed here recently for 3 nights. The building is beautiful and it’s right in the historic center. I did not drive and had a cab drop me off. Upon arriving, my room was ready and I dropped my stuff off. The room was very warm and I figured it would cool down when I was out. When I returned the room was still at 27 degrees. I had to get ready for a cocktail party so I could not have the room this warm. I called the front desk and said something with wrong with the AC and may I please have a different room. They wanted to come and look at it to make sure I had it turned on correctly (eye roll lol). Yes, it was in fact broken. They wanted to bring a maintenance person out to fix it and I said no please put me in a different room as I need to go to a party. This whole issue would’ve been resolved faster if they had just put me in a new room like I originally asked. So that was a bit frustrating. All the rooms here are very dated and tired. I think it’s time for some renovations. My sink in my room was cracked, tub had lots of scratches, holes in wall plaster by bed, furniture worn and wood chipped. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. It was also hard to get basic services. No room service (only at very specific times) and no water for guests in the lobby. If you wanted water you had to go to their restaurant and pay for it. Most hotels offer some sort of water at all times for guests. No coffee maker in the room and no irons either. Breakfast is fine but you must go at the assigned time they give you which usually didn’t work with my schedule, so I only went one time. It just felt like there were a lot of rules and not a lot of services. There’s no way on earth this is a 4 star hotel. It’s more like a low level 3 star hotel.

We had a remarkable stay in an incredible room (201) which we were sad to leave and even sadder to hear this room may soon be unavailable in its current configuration. The staff and accommodations were terrific.
