Asturias Is the Unsung Spanish Vacation Destination You Need to Visit This Year

"A former monastery in the remote southwest of the region, this imposing granite building is a stand-out among recent incorporations to the state-owned Paradores chain."

Parador de Corias (Cangas del Narcea, Asturias) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The town’s parador occupies an 11C monastery known as the ‘El Escorial of Asturias’. It has two impressive cloisters, one of which is home to a centuries - old tree. Find a spacious lounge, multi - purpose function rooms, understated yet contemporary guestrooms, and a pleasant dining room occupying what was once the refectory." - Tablet Hotels

Amazing building and I love that the government is preserving historical buildings this way, but it's not functionally 4 stars. The library is a good example: it's just for looks. It's a random disorganized collection of printed materials designed to be facebooked, and not a place to read or work. The light switches in the rooms are baffling and visitors must bring grandchildren to help them figure out how to work the TV. I wouldn't stay there a second time but I recommend staying there once for the pictures.

First of all, it is a great hotel and the strategy of the Paradores group is commendable. However, we felt that a significant amount of cost-cutting has been implemented in the room amenities as well as the breakfast experience. The hotel has the potential to be truly exceptional—one that guests from around the world would love to stay in—but it requires considerable improvement and greater attention to detail. As architects, we were quite disappointed

We came there to celebrate our anniversary and the stay was perfect. We loved the place. The reception employee were very helpful. The bedroom was awesome and the bed fenomenal (i didn't sleep this well in si long). The spa was nice though, the person at the reception was a bit rude and not very good at explaining how things work. It's only 1h30 so it's a bit short but enough. The food was simple yet so good. Quantity and quality. The service at the restaurant and breakfast was spotless. Would recommend and will definitely come back some day!!

Much like all parador hotels. This one is no exception to being beautiful and simply amazing to be able to stay there. This is a beautiful old monastery that's huge. Hallways are very large and big with amazing common areas. The staff are always so helpful and pleasant and professional. The local area around the hotel is simply beautiful and if you go here you have to go to the winery next door. Book a tour in advance and the information is some of the best I've ever received on a winery tour....so very interesting.

Our room was undoubtedly lovely (318 - Los Ferreiros) and staff were, as we have always found in Paradores, welcoming and helpful. But the overall look and feel of the hotel on the ground floor, from the minute you enter, including common rooms, bar, and dining room, was cold and uninviting. In contrast with the bright, airy room, black floors and plain walls, with lack of heating did nothing for the overall ambience.

A great experience... a superb building. It was like staying in a museum... and with an excellent restaurant! Highly recommended.

Well preserved historical place. Walking through the lobby is like walking with the solemn walk of the monks from the 11th century

I had stayed at the Monastery de Corias in 2022 when I was very impressed at the time by the standards of the accommodation. I therefore, when organising a motorcycling trip to the region for this year for a group of six friends, I chose the monastery again.||We were not disappointed. There was nothing whatsoever to criticise. In fact there was an improvement as we were offered free access this time to the underground car park. This was a big bonus for motorcyclists.||The presentation, the cleanliness and the excellent service were of the highest standards. One of my group has already planned a return trip with his wife.

Yelp
I stayed at the Parador Monasterio de Corias near Cangas del Narcea, Spain on 5/18/2018. It was my 1st time there. It was also the 1st time that I ever stayed in a Monastery. I was traveling with Tauck at the time and they chose the location. It was the 2nd Parador that I stayed in on this trip. A unique experience. Fine staff and service. Plus, I took photos.
