I recently stayed at the Parador in La Palma, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel is beautifully located on top of a hill, offering stunning views over the island and the coast. The gardens are absolutely lovely, adding to the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. It’s clear that the hotel is undergoing some renovations but the efforts to modernize the property are noticeable. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, but one issue really stood out: they are quite cold. The air conditioning doesn’t make a real difference to the comfort level. Another challenge is the thin walls and floors. You can hear absolutely everything—from neighbors sneezing to normal conversations—which made sleeping through the night quite difficult. If you’re a light sleeper, I’d strongly recommend bringing earplugs. The hotel staff was generally very nice, and I have to give special mention to Julia, Emilia, and Luis at reception, who were absolutely superb. They were incredibly helpful, professional, and always made me feel welcome. Their kindness and efficiency really stood out and added a lot to the overall experience. Upon check-in, guests are asked to select time slots for breakfast and dinner, which helps with organization but can also feel a little restrictive. Speaking of amenities, while the hotel has a pool and sauna, I was surprised not to find bathrobes or flip-flops in my room—something that would have been expected for a place with spa facilities. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was good overall, but not without its flaws. The food itself was tasty, but unfortunately, every dish arrived only lukewarm—on the plus side, service was quick. A small but frustrating detail was noticing a service charge for butter and oil on my bill, even though I hadn’t consumed them. Unfortunately, I only saw it later, so I didn’t get the chance to address it. Additionally, my starter was served in the wrong portion size, but since I was hungry, I didn’t bother to complain. There were also a couple of cleanliness-related issues. On one occasion, I found a dirty cleaning cloth left in my room by the housekeeping team. It was placed on top of my clean clothes, which I found quite off-putting. Moreover, I noticed that the glasses and cups in my room were not replaced with fresh ones as I expected. Instead, they appeared to be wiped down and then placed upside down, making it look as if they had been replaced. I only realized this because I found traces of my own lipstick on the outside of my "new" cup, which had clearly been reused without being properly cleaned. That being said, I did appreciate that the floors were cleaned with water every day—it’s a small detail, but one that I noticed and really liked.

The rooms are very basic, even though they seem to have invested some money. Cleanliness needs to improve. Service at dinner was good, at reception quite disinterested. Dinner was nice, breakfast stuck in Covid times... Good option for the price, however the place has much more potential for the future.

Good Padador quality but not a forgettable experience. We had some problems with our special diets (gluten-free and vegan) but otherwise the food was good, especially the breakfast.

We are fond of Paradores. But we do find sometimes quite a difference in quality, from super quality to even below 3 star level, and the charging a 4 star price. Perhaps next time the La Palma Parador is living up to 4 star level? It deserves it, with a splendid location, and quality improved, we may consider to return…

We were housed here after a canceled flight to Madrid along with many other passengers for 3 nights . Reception the first night we checked in was awful, an unpleasant woman who gave misinformation, passengers gathered information amongst ourselves and shared. The group opinion was that we were not wanted there and treated as such by reception especially. We had 3 separate rooms during our stay as they would make us leave at check out and then recheck in to a different room for the following night, very inefficient and unpleasant with 3 teens. The best aspects; dining, nice servers, excellent food, good caution with dietary restrictions, and the views, which were stunning. Rooms were only ok comfort wise, although they were clean. First room no water/coffee service. Pool small with limited hours, hotel not really accessible by foot only car. I would not choose to stay here with family again. Strongly suggest improving customer service if they agree to participate with airlines rehousing passengers in the future.

We visit Paradores regularly, and La Palma was probably the best Parador experience we ever had. The building is conveniently located, with amazing views of the island and sea. The premises are worth exploring, with a gorgeous garden that extends down the hill. But what made our stay truly special was the team working at the Parador. Everybody was extremely friendly and accommodating, and by the time we left we truly felt at home. We look forward to visiting La Palma again, and we will certainly stay at this Parador.

A nice, but not great, classic hotel with lovely rooms and common areas. We had a “standard room”, which was quite spacious and had a sweet, private balcony from which we could see the sea. The botanical garden was a delightful surprise and nicely maintained. We were only here one night, but we had considered staying here for the duration of our week on the island. I originally reserved a room more than 5 months in advance, and requested we be given a room with a "matrimonial bed”. We were told this could not be guaranteed, that our bedroom would be assigned at check-in, so I cancelled that first reservation. As it was, our room was a “double” (two twin beds side-by-side) which is fine for one night, but we actually enjoy being close to each other, and we glad we reserved elsewhere for the majority of our stay on La Palma. The biggest downfall was the bathroom. It was spacious, with dual sinks and good water pressure, but there was mold on the shower tile grout (a little bleach could’ve killed it); the hair conditioner had liquified (I had to get out mid-shower, dripping wet, to find my own conditioner) and the sparse overhead lighting was like applying makeup in dark tunnel. We opted for the buffet breakfast, which was nice enough. Along with the usual cold meats, cheeses and breads, the fresh fruit was gorgeous, and there were a few hot dishes you could order (cheese omelette, bacon, scrambled eggs), Some self-serve hot items would’ve been nice, as would have self-serve coffee and tea, making refills easier.
