19 Best Hotels in Málaga, Costa del Sol’s Scenic Capital | Condé Nast Traveler

"Perched on a hilltop near Gibralfaro Castle, this parador sits amid nature with panoramic views over the city and the Mediterranean; its year-round (seasonally maintained) swimming pool and simple mix of contemporary and traditional Spanish interiors make the setting the real attraction. I felt the hotel’s unpretentious design is secondary to its dreamlike, sweeping vistas across Málaga." - Marta Sader

In the hills overlooking Málaga. Fantastic view. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Excellent bar, also serving small dishes. Spacious, clean, well equipped rooms with a balcony. Rooftop swimmingpool. Good value for money. The only thing we missed was a fitnessroom.|We gladly be back.

Lovely location over beautiful Malaga port. Fun to see cruise ships and sunset cruises go in and out. Easy walk down to city center via castle walls. Much harder walk back. Easy to pick up cab, bus or Tuc Tuc outside of hotel. Restaurant has many regional offerings. Bar area lacks a vibe, but drinks still good. Rooms clean and basic, but enough. Go for the setting.

We stayed in the Parador in January 2024 in a Superior room 306. The room was nicely appointed but a bit small. It was quite warm but there was no air conditioning as it was "winter". The room had a good bathtub in the bathroom. The highlight was an extraordinary view from the balcony over the port of Malaga. It was truly a breathtaking spectacle from morning to dusk. Parking was a bit tight as the Parador was at the top of the hill. It had extensive dining facilities which looked nice and full of people but we did not use. The location is excellent if you have a car since it is far from the city in terms of walking. Overall a great place for its location while the comforts are somewhat outdated as is the case in many paradors.

A lovely hotel (Quite ususal for a Parador) with one of the best views over a city that you could wish for! It is easy to access the Castillo de Gibralfaro and walk down to the alcazabar. It has a nice little pool on the top floor for summer visitors! The food is good too :o)

A Wonderful Stay with Breathtaking Views We had an amazing stay! Parking was easy and convenient. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and peaceful—just what we needed. Having our own balcony with a stunning view over Málaga was a real treat. We enjoyed relaxing in the bar with delicious food and drinks, and took a lovely walk down to the old town and back. The route is ideal for anyone in reasonably good shape. On our departure day, we didn’t have time for breakfast, but the staff thoughtfully provided us with picnic bags filled with fruit, freshly made sandwiches, croissants, water, and juice. Such a generous gesture! We wholeheartedly recommend this place and would love to return.

We stayed at the Parador Nacional de Malaga Gibralfaro for a few days as my 70th birthday treat. We booked well in advance and stayed midweek. The hotel is wonderful with exceptional views of Málaga and we had a great time. Málaga is a beautiful city to visit with lots of great attractions and all are withing easy reach of the Parador either by bus or walking down the steep hill. The bus ride is about twenty minutes and goes about every half hour. All of the hotel rooms have balconies on the city side and the views are spectacular either by day or night. The breakfast was up to the usual Parador standards, top quality. The room was good with an excellent bed and a fine bathroom. The service was excellent and we would definitely return.

I've eaten and stayed at the Parador several times, but today it was just Sunday lunch. We had a beautiful table on the terrace (to guarantee this, book your meal for 1.30), in the sunlight, over our home city. The staff were professioanl and welcoming. The food was fantastic.

We finished our 23 day tour of the southwestern part of Spain in Malaga. We flew into Malaga and we were departing from Malaga. On arrival we went to stayed in Torremolinos. We wanted to tour Malaga before ending our vacation. Our travel agent had us booked into Parador De Malaga for our last 2 nights. We immediately knew he had picked a gem to complete our vacation! |When we arrived with car we already knew that this was an exceptional hotel. The location alone was fantastic. Located high above the city with beautiful views. Parking of which there is a good selection on site is included. Check-in in was fast and easy. Since we had an early flight we mentioned that we would be checking out very early. They offered to provide food to go if we wanted for our early departure. Though we did not take advantage of it we thought it was a very nice touch. |The facility is beautiful throughout. We had breakfast included which was excellent. We also ate in the dining area and it was very good. Drinks on the patio were awesome. |Our room was fantastic with an amazing view of the Bull ring below. A power sun shade over the beautiful balcony was awesome! The room was spotless and comfortable.

Yelp
I love this hotel. I live nearby and go into the mountains past this hotel often. Since the pandemic we haven't been travelling so treated ourselves to a stay here for my birthday. Gorgeous inside and out. The pool which looks so small when talking past in the mountain is actually a lot bigger than I expected. the restaurant is specular! I had the pulpo and my boyfriend had a steak. Top quality!!! Which is what should be expected for a nice hotel like this. I see another review had a problem with the internet. I hadn't had this problem, but i didn't bring my work with me either. I know how annoying it is when you can't get decent hotel wifi. But I think this wasn't typical. Our room was huge. Views awesome! And I had to hike to get here. I love this place! 5 stars! I'll add pics when I finally download them from my dslr

Yelp
This hotel is in a spectacular location with a scenic overlook of the water. It is not located in or near the center of town. It has the appearance of a luxury hotel. The rooms are large, bright, and clean. There are two restaurants on the premises: a bar/cafeteria where I had a good lunch with my traveling companion and a luxury restaurant. The food in the luxury restaurant was good -- expensive but not terribly so. A snooty maître d' presides over it. The problem with this hotel for me had to do with my requirements as a traveler. I depend on being able to stay in touch with people via email and on being able to use the Internet when abroad -- in my hotel room. Being not located near city sites and spots, I thought I would try to get some rest and to get some work done while staying here. I also wanted badly to get in touch with people back home. Neither was possible because the Wi-Fi which the hotel is supposed to offer for free hardly works. The Internet connection kept going down. One minute it was working - sort of - the next minute you were getting a message: connection failed. It would crash and your work would be lost. To send one email, say, takes around three minutes -- if you can send it at all. Often, you will get message indicating that the message can not be sent. We are talking about simple Internet functions here. I tried to do some work which required me to use then Internet. It worked so slowly --when it was not crashing - that it was useless. The staff acted apologetic and said they would fix it, but it wasn't working for most of the time I was a guest there - despite there telling me several times, "it's working now." The Wi-Fi problem affected my iPhone too. I could not send messages or go online with it. DON'T STAY HERE IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND DEPEND ON INTERNET CONNECTIVITY. One other observation. Being located at a high altitude, the hotel is cool in the summer. That may be a good thing, but it was chilly in my bedroom, uncomfortably so. And, when I tried to take a hot shower in the morning to warm up, the water was only lukewarm and I could not manage to make it hot.
