Parador de Mazagón

This is the third time we stayed at the Parador de Mazagón and hope to return many more times. It's located in the Doña Ana nature preserve and some 150 steps above the ocean. Stairs connect the hotel to the long beach below. Free bicycles and many kilometers of paved trails are available to explore the beautiful natural habitat. The grounds are well-kept and the parador itself is attractive, although it is not in a historic building like many others paradores. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a great view of the ocean and sunset. We enjoyed dining at the parador -- good food and wines with the excellent service that we have come to expect at the paradores.

Easy to find. Plenty of paid outdoor parking on site. Staff all pleasant and helpful. Whole hotel spotlessly clean. Large garden with plenty of loungers and shade, with view to sea. Room 58 had nice view of garden looking over the pool to the sea with a balcony in the sun all afternoon and evening. It was large, comfortable and quiet. Lots of different birds in garden, particularly impressed by nighthawk hunting round lights for insects after dark. Garden is on clifftop, so long flight of wooden stairs down to quiet huge sandy beach.|Breakfast and dinner up to usual Parador standard, only grumble would be poor selection of gluten free food at breakfast.|A relaxing place to stay, close to the beach, worth the quite long drive to get there. We will visit again.

Beautiful location above the beach, well maintained pool and grounds. ||Difficult to imagine getting here without a car. Slight gripe about being charged 10 euros a day to park. ||Two restaurants - great experience at the upstairs one. ||Pretty awful experience at the more basic one - took 40 minutes to get a gin martini which then arrived and was something else (albeit it had gin and vermouth in it somewhere!). Food when it arrived just wasn’t good. Too few staff that night I think. We complained and the manager handled this really well. ||Reasonable gym but you have to book to use in advance as they only allow 5 ppl in at a time. This makes sense as there aren’t that many machines / weights / pieces of equipment.

The Parador has exceptional ambience, calm and with tremendously impressive hotel services providing good value for money in a professional, smooth manner within an environment in which the magnificently maintained hacienda-type buildings integrate perfectly with the immaculate garden setting. The pool area is a masterpiece, and the parador's setting on a cliff overlooking and having fast access to one of the area's most splendid beaches and sea views could not be bettered. The staff of the Parador are the real asset here and those we interacted with were without exception friendly and professional. No hotel can 100% guarentee a great stay but Paador de Mazagon comes as close as I've experienced.

The room was really old-fashioned, an old institutional bathroom, no comfortable furniture, and it had a nasty odour. The breakfast service was a disaster. Over-crowded, poor quality food and the cvhef who was required to cook anything hot was never available. The hotel is in a great position, but this is not a high quality Parador.

Another wonderful stay at a paradore ……fabulous staff and as always a wonderful aroma in the reception area.||A large spacious property with wonderful grounds and plenty of beds for sunbathing and relaxing .||The secret path through a locked gate to an absolutely gorgeous beach with sandstone cliffs was stunning at anytime of day.||Although we only stayed one night we ate dinner at the restaurant and lunch twice and was able to use the facilities on our departure day.||The mackeral salad is now on my weekly meal plan and thank you for providing GF bread to soak up the lovely oilive oil.

Service was great - food excellent traditional regional Spanish fare. Rooms very comfortable with sea view.
