"A parador with undeniable charm, occupying a 16C palace once occupied by the Counts of Maceda in the heart of Pontevedra’s old quarter. A stone property teeming with history and embellished with attractive gardens and modern comforts, with regionally inspired cuisine as an added bonus." - Tablet Hotels

This was a great place stay. The building itself is very impressive - basically and old castle/mansion. Our room was big and airy and looked out onto the courtyard/garden. It is on one edge of the old town and you are easily able to walk to all of the sites. |The staff were fairly matter of fact but were happy to help when asked. |We didn't try the food at all, but it was nice to have a coffee on the veranda overlooking the garden.|We got the train to Pontevdera so didn't have to worry about parking, although we did have a bit of a wait for a taxi at the station (which seems to be a common experience). It was a pretty cheap taxi fare.

Our group of four walking the Camino was looking forward to staying at this historic parador, as it was our most expensive accommodation on our trip. While it was nice and the rooms were spacious and inviting, it did not completely live up to our expectations. Check-in took a very long time compared to other hotels. While the receptionist got the job done, he was not overly gracious or welcoming. Our room was very quiet but unfortunately our friends just next door were kept awake all night by an unidentified mechanical noise. Breakfast was delicious although we were eating at the same time as a tour group and had to wait longer than usual for our orders. We wished they had told us when we scheduled breakfast that another time would be better, as we had some flexibility. The restaurant staff was harried and rushed with the volume of people. |The location was good and the area was quiet.

Good location and reasonable rates. The front desk personnel were great and the rooms were very clean. The sheets are heavenly, fresh and soft and ironed, like on most paradors. The only area of improvement is the furnishings, they are supposed to be “old” but the were a bit run down. Also the beautiful wood floors could use some some refurbishment. Glad to see they appear to be replacing the old windows. Overall very good.

Staying in a medieval castle definitely has charm. The spacious rooms and old-town setting keep the Middle Ages atmosphere alive. The bar was pleasant, and the staff deserves praise—they went above and beyond to help.||But there were major problems. First, taxi drivers refused to stop at the train station despite the long line of travelers, forcing us to walk all the way to the hotel, which was difficult to find even with GPS. Second, the restaurant was overpriced, opened only at 8:30 p.m., and breakfast was extremely stingy. There was also no coffee in the rooms or even in the lobby. Add to that: no gym at all.||The property itself is unique, but the frustrations added up. For the setting and staff, it deserves some credit, but overall the experience fell short. Suggestions: 1) invest in a gym and have some dumbbells, elliptical and treadmill. 2) as a coffee machine in every room. I would send my bill in the mail.

This is a lovely hotel in the middle of the old town. Pontevedra is a delightful place to visit and this Parador is the place to stay. The staff at reception and in the serving areas are all very friendly and there is a beautiful terrace for drinks and meals as well. We would definitely return if in Pontevedra again.

Nice parador centrally located. Staff were pleasant and helpful with regards to assistance for parking. |Rooms are large but a bit dated. |As some have said it is maybe not the easiest to find so I will attach some notated images. |As you take the exit from the main road there is an entrance ahead to the underground car park - turn right before this. |50m Ahead of you is a restaurant/taperia - turn right. |As you follow the road to the left beat left and you will see a set of stairs ahead of you - turn left and the parador is on your right. |There is parking outside for a short time to register at the hotel.

A small but beautiful parador with some of the best service we experienced across the chain. Great location. The garden was the absolute star, it was so special being able to have dinner & drinks there

I loved this hotel! It is a former castle and just beautiful. The rooms are very nice - the bathrooms are remodeled but dark. We ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. Dinner was especially good. The food was delicious and the service attentive.

Yelp
I liked that when you exit this Parador, you are right in the city and near shops, etc. (including laudromats). It is a short walking distance from the Church of the Virgin Pilgrim and the Gothic church of San Francis, both of which are beautiful and worth visiting. The rooms were comfortable and the food delicious. The staff was helpful, especially in helping some of us order a taxi. This Parador is not as opulent as the one in Baiona, which is something I liked.

Yelp
Destroyed by bedbugs! My wife and I were supposed to stay 5 nights in the Pontevedra Parador, and check out on Sunday 22nd of April. We were forced to leave ahead of time because my wife was attacked and ravaged by bedbugs, in room 221. She had to go to dermatologist who prescribed three medicines for her. Her arms and neck are ravaged (acribilladas) by undetermined insects that were in our room, and bed. The Paradores should be ashamed: never in our life of travels all over the world had this happened. Absurdly, we were charged full price for having my wife injured in your parador because of lack of hygiene and cleanliness! Also, we had to pay for the visit to the dermatologist and the medicines. Worst of all, my wife is still suffering the consequences of this attack on her person.

Yelp
Nice place but rooms are hot in the summer as the air conditioning really does not cool at all. The service and staff are very nice. The hotel is clean.
