Parador de Tortosa (Tortosa, Catalonia) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In a medieval castle on a hill which offers fine views of the fertile plains of the Ebro river. Its magnificent rooms evoke the atmosphere of past times, without disregarding modern comfort. Dining room with a predominance of stone and wood, with outstanding Gothic windows." - Tablet Hotels

This historic hotel is high above the City with fantastic views over the City.|Though originally from the 1920s it is a modern hotel with full facilities.|Rooms are big and so are the bathrooms. Has all amenities except coffee machine.|Breakfast is excellent with wide varieties.|2 restaurants. A cafe for light meals and a full scale restaurant.|There is also a big pool.|Staff very friendly.|This hotel is fir guests with cars (ample parking) as high above hill but a taxi to centre is only about 5 euro.

**Be aware before booking - outdoor summer pool does not work in summer** It's a nice hotel with friendly staff. It is very well located within walking distance of key attractions and offers good value for money. As other users have written, it is a bit worn out, but everything works properly. The layout is a bit strange though; for example, when sitting in the bar/ terrace, you are facing the parked cars overlooking the car park. The outdoor pool is closed in summer due to renovations – these could be carried out during other periods. It doesn't look like it will open soon.

Like all the Paradores we visited, this was very impressive. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. All in all, I could not recommend this location more highly.

Undoubtedly, this is the worst parador I have ever stayed at. During the first night we were awoken by BEDBUGS and were bitten in faces and arms. Obviously, we asked the reception to be moved. |Due to the seriousness of this unpleasant incident, we expected the parador staff to ask after us the morning after. No one did it. The parador manager neither showed up nor called us up. Even more, they charged us for that night without offering us any compensation. Their dreadful customer service was even more regrettable than the incident itself. As a result, we filled out a complaints sheet.

We booked a room in the Parador to have a relaxed weekend in the area and enjoy the pool on the last day. When we arrived, we unfortunately saw the pool was being reconstructed and therefore closed for visitors. When we asked the reception about this (on our booking confirmation they told us the pool would be opened already), they lied to our face telling us they changed the information online and we booked in advance so we should have checked for updates. After this strange comment, we checked online and there was nothing mentioned about the pool being closed. However, the day after we checked again and they changed the info behind our backs to mention the pool would be closed until end of June. We really didn´t like this poor treatment and lying from the receptionist, who tried to blame us for not checking their info, which was not even correct in the first place.
