Parador of Cruz de Tejeda

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel, perched righton top of the mountain in the heart of Gran Canaria. The location is truly unbeatable. Our room is spacious, comfortable with a lovely balcony that made the most of the panoramic scenery. When the weather was good, the view from the balcony was absolutely superb. We opted for half board, and the restaurant did not disappoint The food was fresh and well prepared. Breakfast was enjoyable with the option to order hot food, the pastries is particularly good. A fantastic place to stay of you want peace, incredible views.

Lovely hotel with fantastic views. We were lucky with the weather definitely but the views over the mountains with clear views of Mount Teide on Tenerife were to die for. The air felt crisp and clear and there were wonderful sounds of woodpeckers. Our room with a balcony was great. The food on the restaurant was very good. Staff were lovely. Beautiful sunsets.

I really wish I could say we had a good stay, but this hotel made it tough. From the moment we arrived, the reception didn’t even look at our faces. There was no welcome and no interest at all. That set the tone for everything that followed. There were bugs right in front of our room door and the showers were dirty. The hotel bar was even worse. The barman threw a fit because we said we did not want beers. It was completely unprofessional. Breakfast was disappointing. Mostly frozen pastries and cold fried cheese. Not what you expect from a hotel at this price. The only bright side was the service staff, who were kind and tried to help. And the hotel clearly trusts its view because that is pretty much the only positive thing going for it. I would not stay again.

Beautiful place with an amazing view but apparently woefully understaffed - at least when we were there. The hotel does not have a bar per se but a lounge area with table seating only. If there are no sitdown tables available you’re out of luck as they will not serve you directly from the bar. The single bartender could not come close to keeping up with the guests. Likewise, for breakfast they seem to have one lady who was frantically trying to run around and could likewise not keep up with breakfast orders. In check in we found the staff person to be short and not particularly friendly. Maybe this was just a situation while we were there but it seemed to be a pervasive issue in every aspect of our experience there.

When we arrived they put us in room 501 (which is an attic room with NO balcony). Only 2 rooms on this floor (502 too both arrowed in photos) . A long dark room which had no balcony or proper shower !!! Like a naughty boy's cupboard! Never been so DISAPPOINTED in my life to be honest. So looking forward to the room balcony views for my birthday which was why we booked it. , To see the views we had to stand on a chair to properly look out of the velux windows. I complained straight away and they said to look at the terms and conditions !! I think every other room except these two have fantastic balconies. There was not a proper shower in the room either (see photos) Next morning we were moved to another room with a balcony which was great with views and a good shower. Breakfast was fine. We ate out in the evenings down the road due to other reviews |So if you are considering this place beware of the two attic rooms in advance , The website is a bit deceiving about the attic rooms not mentioning these facts. We will go back but not to the naughty boy's attic . We were told to book a superior room to avoid the attic by the staff !!

The hotel is beautifully located in Cruz de Tejeda and the rooms have an amazing view over the mountains. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is very spacious. And the balconies have lovely chairs where you can sit all day enjoying the amazing views, we even had some baby kitties scurrying about that were very very cute. Everyone working at the reception was very professional and helpful and the breakfast had something for everyone. However, the rest of the service was very much lacking. On our first day we went to the cafeteria for a drink and a bite to eat and although there were only a few other tables seated, it took more than 30 minutes for the waitress to come our way. She had noticed us previously and had said she’d be with us in 2 minutes but that did not happen. She attended to tables that sat down after us before us, did not bring us menus (we found one on another table) and, once we were finally served, did not check up on our table again. At least 45 minutes passed from sitting down to getting our order. It was honestly a pretty sour start to our perception of the service. We ended up leaving after our first drink and getting room service instead, which was much more efficient. The first night we had made a dinner reservation at the hotel since the surrounding area does not offer much else unless you drive into Tejeda. We were seated for dinner and given menus and then it was an absolute struggle to get the waiters attention to place our order. We only ordered mains, no appetizer, which we were asked and stated upon ordering and yet my partners meal came out a good 10 minutes before mine. I ordered the entrecôte cooked medium and it came out rare, this was amended after being able to flag down the waiter again. Needless to say, we did not eat dinner at the hotel the second night. Then we get to the housekeeping. We left to go on a hike for the day and got back to a carpet that was left standing up against the couch, one dirty glass being replaced while the other wasn’t and generally it seemed that the room was rather haphazardly tidied up. The shower gel in the shower was practically empty. Although the hotel and rooms are beautiful and waking up to that view is hard to beat, it just missed the mark for what we expect in a 4-star hotel. So if you want to stay here to enjoy the view and go on some stunning hikes and don’t mind driving down to Tejeda for lunch and dinner or trying one of the other 2 options in the area then go go go!! If you want to stay here for the full experience of a 4-star hotel, including having all meals at the property then maybe look for another option.

Use the spa it’s amazing. Take a kettle if you want tea in the morning on the beautiful balcony enjoying the view. Avoid dinner in the restaurant or bar

Not a nice place. Looks great online but not in reality. Staff are unhelpful and the place is old and tired. Over priced and then you have to pay more for the spa which is why people go there. That's if you can get the spa booked. Would save your money and go elsewhere.
