A Guide to Canada's Gaspé Peninsula

"We drove with our bounty through thick forest up Mont St.-Joseph to Géodômes Desjardins, five great round cabins, one of which would be our home for the night." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Fantastic place to visit if you're in the Carleton Sur La Mer région. It's a steep climb up where you are at 555 meters high and you can overlook the entire town with a 360º view. Nice little church as well with some great history behind it.

Even though it is closed for the season you can still drive to the top! Excellent view

We stopped at this park on the last leg of our Gaspésie tour. We used the road that takes you pretty much at the top of the mount, where you will find a large parking lot to park. Then it's a couple minutes of walk to get to the belvedere and church that sits at the top of the mountain. You will also find a visitor center building and washrooms there. The view from there is quite spectacular, giving you an overall view of the Baie des Chaleurs. The church is more of a contemporary style and offers a beautiful mosaic in its altar. We took a trail down the mountain around the church which was actually a mountain bike trail, so not the best when you're walking/hiking (see map). A nice place to stop to enjoy the view of the area that is quite magnificent.

Beautiful and wide view over land and sea from the plateau. Several hiking trails can be accessed from here. The small church is worth a short visit but is not a must-see. It offers restrooms inside, though. There's a fee for parking and opening hours have to be considered. All in all a great visit when weather and visual range are good.

Stayed in the GeoDomes September 19 and 20. What an amazing experience! The gentleman that checked us in was great, and the other staff was alway helpful and accomadating. The domes are very well equipped with everything you need for cooking. Make sure you bring your own coffee we forgot ours! Great BBQ, nice small fridge, and toaster oven. The view is incredible, then after dark it just as amazing again. You can spend hours just sitting enjoying the view.

Make sure your vehicle is in tip top shape because the drive up & down is a doozy & be prepared to gear down a lot & break on during the descent. Nice views of the area & worth the drive up. Unfortunately, the buildings were closing when we got to the top but it was an experience anyway. Also, there is an entry fee (aprox $10 per person) Enjoy!

The view is beautiful and panoramic. It reminded me of a mountain visit in Switzerland. The chapel with it's art gallery and souvenir shop is quaint and peaceful. If you're a hiker the options for a good trek are great but I was glad I drove to the top!

A surprise awaits you as you continue upward the astonishing 555m to find a lovely Church atop the mountain. The view literally takes your breath away. The guide at the entrance was inviting (even during Covid times) and the interior mosaics and hand painted tiles are gorgeous. Well worth the money!!
