The inside is gorgeous! Feels just like the Mediterranean. Fresh, light yummy food and bread made daily. So delicious! Great space for family gatherings or ladies night.

The appetizers were great. Had the grilled Octopus and the grilled Squid/calamari. Both tasted very good. Nice dressing on both. My wife had the Greek Salad and I had the Steve Combination Special. My wife enjoyed the salad. I was disappointed, and here is why. The veal had no flavor. Very bland, not what I expected. The sausage tasted good but was a bit too sweet. The Gyro was plenty but wow, way too salty. Would I go again? Yes, I would give them another try. The Feta Cheese alone would get me back there!

Google
Honest food, nice environment and good service . I think the attendant should be a little less shy and a bit more communicative- good communication is everything in this business . Very generous moussaka - comes with a big salad , a lot of boiled potatoes and a good plate of bread & dry yogurt ! A place to eat when you are very hungry!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

Google
Best Greek food ever! Flavorful salad with herbs, spinach pie loaded with spinach... creamy & lightly-sweet galaktoboureko. Falafel is great, too. Very friendly service.

Had a lunch special and it was a great little spot. Service was attentive and the food quality was excellent. Only wish the sandwich was easier to eat, smaller tomatoes and properly wrapped would make it a better eating experience.

Tried this place after seeing it on Instagram. The food did not disappoint. Had the grilled octopus for the first time and it was delicious and well prepared. The branzino was a hit too. The waiting staff was very friendly and welcoming and the overall atmosphere was great. I will definitely be visiting again to try to other items on the menu.

I walked in here with what I thought was a very slim chance of being fed before going next door to the Paramount, to see Tom Jones, whom they warned would take the stage 8pm Prompt! Well my server Pam, said she would make it happen, and oh my gosh this food is so darn tasty, and was served up so quick, I couldn't believe it. Grilled Octopus appetizer, Avgolemeno chicken/lemon soup, the Baked Lamb with Orzo, and some Lemon Potatoes! Everything tasted great, and came out perfect. I made the show with barely any minutes to spare, but Tom Jones ended up coming on just a bit late anyway. I have some Baked Lamb w Orzo leftover, and can't wait to have it again. Although I like trying new places, I think I'm going to come here for a repeat performance, next time I go to the Paramount! P.S. I started to pick my lamb apart before my photo, so rest assured, it comes as a shank.

Three of us went for dinner on a very cold night and immediately warmed up as soon as we stepped inside Parea! We ordered a chicken souvlaki dinner, gyro dinner, and a whole bronzini— all entrees weee delicious! Service was attentive and the wait time for the food was minimal. A nice twist on a traditional Greek salad. And the portions were generous.

Yelp
Amazing food, solid value, charming atmosphere, extremely friendly staff and service. This was my first 'ethnic' dining experience (almost 30 years ago). Parea has only improved over the years, while retaining all the qualities that have made it a Huntington staple since 1978. Don't miss it!

Bonnie W.

Yelp
Delicious food! Their lunch deals are awesome. Their greek dressing is one of my favorites! Love their baklava!

Yelp
Excellent Greek Restaurant just down the block from The Paramount Theatre, so you can get your pre-concert dinner fix on. Was greeted warmly as I walked in and seated immediately. Menu and a carafe of water arrived at my table soon thereafter. Had a Mythos beer for a drink and the grilled calamari as an appetizer. I also ordered the Chicken Souvlaki platter which comes with Greek Salad, Rice Pilaf, Pita Bread and Yogurt sauce. Everything was delicious and I left stuffed and ready to rock !!!

Payton S.

Yelp
Extremely kind and competent staff. This place has been around for over 50 years (first owned by the current owner's father or uncle, i honestly don't remember lol) which is no small feat in this town (so many businesses go out of business here). There's also an open kitchen which always feels nice. Delicious and authentic.

Yelp
No disrespect intended to the many foods I've enjoyed since 2020 on park benches and ledges, and even those provided via major delivery apps, but a visit to Parea offers a great experience in both food and service. The Chicken Mediterranean was juicy with a fine tomato sauce, paired with impressive potatoes. The tarama was a highlight in previous delivery orders. And you won't hear me talk about salad too often, but the salads accompanying the entrees have an excellent hit of feta.

Yelp
We grabbed dinner here because we were craving Greek food on our day trip to Huntington! + saganaki ($12): mainly ordered this because I saw how popular it was on Yelp but it wasn't much more than cheese and olive oil. + gyro platter (with lamb and beef) ($21): standard, nothing too special. The greek salad that came with it was delicious. We opted to get the yogurt sauce which complemented well with the gyro. + grilled octopus ($21): the flavor was good and they gave a decent amount! nothing spectacular! Overall, the food is okay, nothing too spectacular!

Rohini G.

Yelp
Solid greek restaurant and efficient service. Side salads, house pita, and tahini dip came out quickly. Entrees were also prepared fast. The salad was very fresh and balanced, though I wish there was a light dressing (oil or lemon juice). Carrots and bell peppers were certainly not traditional but I enjoyed them nonetheless. The pita was warm and very pleasant. I ordered the pastitsio and enjoyed the flavors. I think the beef could have been flavored more but the bechamel layer was hood and the portion of meat to pasta was generous. Reheated wonderfully the next day too!

Yelp
My wife & I used to come to this location when President Bush was in office. Bush as in Daddy HW! The old Mediterranean snack bar is now reopened and is called Parea. My wife & I are seeing a show at The Paramount, we decided to stop in and remember the old days (and my 32 inch waist) I'm a simple guy when it comes to Greek food, I want what I want. I ordered a kabob along with saganaki. The saganaki, I don't need the restaurant screaming OPA but it was different than what I'm used to. Saganaki is like Fundido, its hot cheesy goodness. Why are their tomatoes on the bottom? Both dishes come out, my wife ordered falafel. The Falafel wasn't balls but one big hunk of love. The tahini sauce was a little thin and I didn't taste any garlic? My kabob, it was also one big hunk of meat, it wasn't in traditional cubes. My dinner was the star of the night, fantastic taste! The kabob was served on a bed of rice and peas, this was just a stick to your ribs good food. It's something my Yia-Yia would have made for me. The dining room is quite large with two sides of the restaurant. The restaurant was packed after we sat down. It says on the door, that little Greek spot. And that's what Parea is, just a good spot for delicious Greek food. Opa!

Yelp
Updating my favorite restaurant in Huntington. We had an INCREDIBLE Mothers Day dinner. We made reservations for 8 people and got seated right away. They knew we needed the booster seat for my nephew. Impeccable service. We ordered a lot and everything came fast. First appetizers- Greek salads and Avelegano soup. I didn't realize the soup serving was going to be huge! I asked for some little bowls to share. My niece and nephew dipped pita bread into the soup, and then the 3 year old chugged and kept asking for more! Gave some to my dad too. I recommend asking for the bowl serving and getting little cups to share. My little brother has celiac, and they were very accommodating. He had a beautiful seafood dish. I had a gyro salad. My older brother had Mediterranean chicken. My mom had moussaka - a huge serving. The decor is beautiful, including a large basket of tomatoes in the front window . My 6 year old niece raved about the bathroom lol. They also have delivery if you can't make it in person

Yelp
Parea, the former Mediterranean snack bar is still a traditional Greek eatery. Located right in the heart of Huntington Village on the east side of New York Avenue. New owners for 5 years but same menu. Sit down inside or im warm weather at one of a few tables or take out. Fresh clam chowder and tractional Greek Lemon soup is just made and simmering. The popular gyro salad combo for lunch looked fresh. Spoiled by Scorpio's thought they made it wrong because it was not enormous but was fresh and delicious. Also though i would get the rotating gyro but saw pre sliced from the fridge get warmed a bit quickly on the grill. Salad was fresh. Would like to go back and try a few more items on the menu. People were friendly and cook was fast. Glad they are here when Skorpio's is suddenly and sadly temporarily closed. Tradtional Greek food including Gyro's is a must for this Village.

Wendy M.

Yelp
Wow, absolutely delicious food. Ordered delivery, and contrary to deliveries from other restaurants, the portions from parea were plentiful...shockingly so. The soup, Hummus, souvlaki, even the rice and peas were amazing. Definitely will reorder!

Amber E.

Yelp
Came here last night my a friend who lives nearby and has been before. Bonus that it's open on Monday nights when many restaurants are closed. Our server, Edwin, was friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious - the house Greek salad for two - simple, but spectacular, and loved the Greek dressing (you can even buy a bottle to go!). We each had a cup of the Avgolemeno, then shared an order of the fried zucchini special and the 3 dips - feta, humus and a red one, which was my favorite, served with pita. We shared a carafe of the house white Greek wine, which was light and nice. Great spot; would definitely recommend, and will return!

Yelp
ADDED the Photo of the Watermelon Salad! So delicious!! you need to go and eat it immediately!!

Gizela P.

Yelp
Wish things didn't have to change but they started adding MSG to their menu little by little, and caused some bad Allergic Reactions... Which they were told about. Yet was added to more dishes. This restaurant is too expensive to be using BODEGA additives for us, especially with the severity of the allergy. Just so you know and don't have to find out the hard way.

Joanne S.

Yelp
I had lunch at Parea today. First of all I have to say it is my favorite Greek restaurant and the food is consistently delicious. Normally dining is a pleasant experience but today loud Billy Joel music was played the entire time I was there. It was not a relaxing environment at all; almost anxiety producing. The waitress was busy so I decided not to complain and get aggravated. Hopefully this review will hit home with the person who tuned into the music they wanted to hear without considering anyone else.

Patrick M.

Yelp
Ambiance unmatched. Started her off with an exquisite pan fried calamari appetizer and Greek salad. Looking forward to trying the greek burger as I write this review. Will be back so updates to come. Service is next to none. Xoxo patrick

M B.

Yelp
The Greek salad was disappointing: Missing Stuffed Dolma Grape Leaves, very light on the feta cheese, dressing was bland, too much celery, lettuce was strips of lettuce. No pita bread was served with the salad. Lemon potatoes were like twice baked potatoes with the outside of the potato very tough to chew. Spinach pie was slightly burnt and looked more like a hot pocket.

Mary D.

Yelp
Was great! Cute inside and the food was delicious !! Zucchini sticks were good- warm and light Traditional Greek salad w chicken Chicken souvlaki Will definitely be going back!!

Shani F.

Yelp
A friend and I went for dinner over the weekend before heading to the Pumpkin Blaze. My friend lives in Bellmore and loves Parea! So many items on the menu sounded good so I ended up going with a sampling. I had the soup, the Greek fries and a small salad. We also had an appetizer of the grilled cheese. Everything was delicious and tasted very fresh! And I really liked how they serve the pita: it's grilled and that definitely lent something extra to it. My friend ordered the pizza with spinach, which is one of her faves. She said it was as good as ever. I'll have to go back some time for one of the fish dishes.

Yelp
We have been coming to The Med snack bar now Parea for over 35 years. We have been trying to ignore the fact that this restaurant is not nearly as good as it was when it was The Mediterranean Snack bar and managed and owned by Steve. The quality of the food and the service is not what is used to be. We ordered take out tonight. $120.00 for a family of 4 and the tomatoes that came on everything were spoiled. (Salad, gyro and souvlaki) I was so disappointed I drove back 15 minutes to show them and they were not surprised and not really sympathetic. This restaurant misses its former owner and is in need of real manager. We are done with Parea. We are going to explore the other great Greek restaurants around. I have heard great things about Zaro's Cafe and the Greek grille and Skorpios. Time for us to give these other places a try. Parea is inconsistent and will disappoint. Like their tomatoes tonight, Pareas' best days are behind them. Pretty rotten now.

Jane F.

Yelp
Excellent food. We ordered the hummus, octopus, moussaka and chicken gyro. The hummus was delicious with the warm pita. The octopus was very nicely done; tender and not dry. It was the best we've had so far outside of Sicily. Moussaka was also the best out of the other 3 Greek restaurants we regularly visit. The staff was welcoming and gave the place a homey feel. Would definitely go back and recommend.

Gary W.

Yelp
One of the best Greek salads I've had. The ingredients and the dressing are what makes it delicious, obviously... and some places just don't put the effort into it. You can also buy a bottle of their dressing. I should have... but I will be back. Shared a broiled seafood platter. Very fresh and tasty. Pita bread was delicious. I know it comes from a pita bakery somewhere, but it still tasted like it was just made. Good tzatziki dip. Moussaka was very good. Clean restaurant, excellent service, friendly workers. Will be back.

Maura M.

Yelp
Just awesome. We had the octopus with spinach pie and lamb shank with orzo. Everything was delish and cooked to perfection. The octopus was tender in a lemon scampi broth, and the lamb shank was falling off the bone. Service was excellent and prices very reasonable. I wished I lived closer- I would be there every week!

Alexandra W.

Yelp
Parea is a cheerful Greek restaurant with good food. My favorite is their Greek salad in a pita wrap with yogurt sauce. The ingredients are always fresh and healthy. Second favorite is their Avgolemono lemon chicken soup. The ambience in Parea is very nice as well, you can sit down or take out. The staff is very responsive and efficient. I've come here even on Sunday evenings for take out and the staff is just as hard working and nice as during the week. The prices are reasonable as well. I've been to a lot of Greek restaurants and Parea is one of the best.

Orlanda F.

Yelp
I travel to Greece this summer I love the food I just want to find a place with same flavor as in Greece , I find this place was so good can't wait to come back for more

Bob S.

Yelp
So, so good! We started coming to this restaurant over 35 years ago when it was the Medditererian Snack Bar. We met the new owner today who is the nephew of the original owner. He changed the name out of respect for his uncle but he kept all of the items on the menu EXCEPT for the hotdog since he has healthier choices for kids. He hands out dixie cups of white wine on warm summer nights for people waiting in line, just like his uncle did for decades. The food here never disappoints so when we're in Huntington we often try to bring takeout back to our home in NJ for our whole family to enjoy.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Nice people who own the place fresh food good souvlaki and salad but my favorite is the pastitsio which is a Greek lasagna nothing but the best God bless

Maureen C.

Yelp
Awesome Greek food! Absolutely love their entrees- chicken souvlaki platter and the lamb gyro are amazing! The appetizers need some help though. Skip the spicy feta- not their best work. I even tried it on two separate occasions to see if it was just a fluke, but not good either time, and the zucchini chips were down right BAD. Soggy and wet and just not good. Pita bread and hummus are definitely awesome though. If you stick to the entrees you will be very happy with your meal!

Elisa G.

Yelp
I went there earlier and got some BOMB grilled calamari!! I walked in and Nick is an amazing employee and he deserves a huge tip! I ordered a side of shrimp, hummus, lemon potatoes, octopus and it was so tender and juicy!! I've never had better octopus that I can recall since 3/14/20 and it was SUBLIME!!! Perfectly cooked and that is not an easy feat!! The lemon potatoes were AMAZING and so was the grilled shrimp. 5 stars for Nick who is so cute even with his mask on!!!

Joaquin G.

Yelp
Best greek food ive had , the salad is amazing and the service and souvlakis also. Its always good has been consistent for years. Dont miss out :)

Nessa G.

Yelp
Parea never disappoints! From their gyros, salads and soups to their delicious desserts, everything is always fresh and on point! I also decided to try their hummus tonight and that was equally amazing! I'm so excited this place exists for my Greek cravings. They definitely have a loyal customer from now to forever! Thanks Guys!

Katie M.

Yelp
Delicious Greek food, Margaret is a fantastic waitress, the ambiance is very comfortable and friendly!

Jazmin M.

Yelp
First time at Parea, we placed a "to go" order of $35.95 Seafood Combination Broiled Filet of Flounder, Shrimp and Scallops. We substituted the spinach casserole with the lemon potatoes but they were hard and had a crust-like glaze which was impossible to cut through. I think they were reheated. Not good. The Greek salad had 1...ONE kalamata olive in it, celery, YUK! no cucumbers I could see. However, it was a generous portion, very fresh and the tomato was delicious, tasted homegrown. Just not the Greek salad I usually am served. The seafood was EXCELLENT. Perfectly broiled, not oily, very delicious. Yummy huge pita accompanied the meal. The best part...THE BEST PART was the homemade galaktoboureko!!!! The best I have ever had...generous portion, absolutely creamy and flavorful ...a real hit! We will return to PAREA as I'd love to have the meal there in their beautiful, spotless dining room. (Bathroom was immaculate and beautifully decorated with a Mediterranean tile.)

Lena C.

Yelp
My favorite Greek restaurant within 15 miles of Huntington. Their soups, salads, dinners & dessert are always on point! Fresh, tasty & delicious. Service is always good too!!

Paulina G.

Yelp
Parea is a Huntington staple, the food here is very close to what I've actually had in Greece. No frills, just GOOD food. Love the atmosphere and the staff is very warm.

Steve I.

Yelp
We went there for dinner last Saturday night and we were pleasantly surprised. The food and service were excellent. The Greek salad that comes with the dinners was excellent, the tzatziki that was on the table was excellent. EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT! It's our new go to Greek restaurant in the area.

P B.

Yelp
Dirty and gross. I ordered a Greek salad a chicken souvlaki. The chicken was basically jerky it was so so dry- and littered with blood clots and tendons. The "salad" consisted of shredded lettuce, 4 olives, two chunks of felty, unripe tomato, and feta that looked like shredded cheddar cheese. I feel sorry for the people who think this is palatable.

Rob M.

Yelp
We love Parea. Great Greek salad, great chicken souvlaki, the best and ripest tomatoes around, and you have to try the avgolemono soup. It's our favorite Greek place in town.

Mindy S.

Yelp
Parea is my go to Greek restaurant and worth the parking battle of Huntington (they also deliver through Door Dash)! Their hummus is delish and fresh! I'm a creature of habit, so I really stick to the same order every time. I get a Greek salad with gyro and a glass of their house red wine. According to my mother, their tuna salad is the best she's ever had! My week isn't complete if I don't have Parea at least once! Last week I dined in and tonight we're bringing in!

Jeannie H.

Yelp
I recently ordered a full tray of moussaka and a half tray of spanokopita for a party and I must say it was delicious. My guests loved it. It was hot and fresh when I picked it up and just perfect.

Miriam G.

Yelp
Was greeted and seated by a nice young man who promptly took our order. The ambiance was busy but not overly loud. We ordered grape leaves and gyro platters which was delicious. Will be returning.

Byron C.

Yelp
The seafood platter is absolutely delicious and big enough to share! you can have it broiled (healthier option for those still following through with their new years resolutions) or pan fried. The side of spinach casserole was so so yum...like creamed spinach but way better. The star of the show was the galaktobureko dessert...may have been the best I've ever had.

Geoff C.

Yelp
What a wonderful hidden gem right out in full view!!! The service was excellent...helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. They also were well versed in Gluten Free options and were able to recommend opened that were fresh and delicious! The fish was totally fresh, cooked to perfection and an excellent portion for bigger eaters. The spinach, lemon potatoes, green salad were all spot on. I highly recommend Parea for all to enjoy the Greek dining experience the way it supposed to be.. friendly, fresh and simply delicious Geoff

Bruce B.

Yelp
Once Again - Delicious! The Nephew Nick follows in his Uncle Steve's footsteps and brings the Mediterranean Snack Bar of Huntington back to life - now known as "Parea". With the same delicious recipes and a few more surprises thrown in Nick has a winner on his hands! Does anyone know what secret ingredient is in Parea's Greek Salad Dressing?! No? Then you will have to go down and find out, because it is magical. No one else has this simple spice, and it makes all the difference in the world. Today was an incredible Gyro sandwich with the freshest, tomatoes, onions & Tzatziki Sauce (yogurt & cucumbers) - Yummy!

Gabrielle H.

Yelp
We just moved to the area. We were deep into a DIY project, when a wrong door dash arrived at our address. We called the restaurant to see if the food could be delivered to correct customer. Unfortunately, there was no way to remedy the situation per the restaurant. They called us back 15 minutes later to tell us to enjoy the delivery. The soup and rice pudding ordered were exceptional. We can't wait to order ourselves. The chicken lemon soup was perfectly flavored. It was not something I would have chosen myself, but it was AMAZING.lt was so nice of the restaurant to call us back and we are planning on orfering from them soon!

Lon M.

Yelp
Every time we go, the food and staff are great. Fish was absolutely fresh and tasted great. Salads and house wines are very good. Have been going there for 40+ years and will continue to go there with the new owners.

Jonathan M.

Yelp
We frequent Parea often because of the delicious food and friendly cooks/waiters. Today however is the 3rd time I order over phone for pickup and get the same lady at counter to take my order. She is rude, undermining, and completely opposite from the rest of the staff. As I brought my dislike to the owner's attention tonight, he was apologetic but definitely pardoned her tone and attitude by saying "oh she doesn't mean anything by it and it was that she was busy". Frankly, that type of response makes me feel like he validates her lack of service and communication skill sets and it's ok for her to speak however she desires to customers. At that point, I felt my opinion didn't matter and so I simply paid for my food and left. Upsetting to say the least and unfortunately it will take a lot for us to return to this popular establishment.

Helene D.

Yelp
Parea was the old Mediterranean Snack Bar. When I walked in today I was not aware that it was Parea. That's because it really hasn't changed that much on the inside except for some much-needed sprucing up. I was greeted by a nice server named Margaret. I asked where Steve ( the prior owner) was and she had informed me that he retired and that the restaurant was owned by a new Greek family... I quickly perused the menu and saw that it was pretty much exactly the same as the old menu... Which I found comforting but also a little disappointing as I would've liked to try a new version of a Greek dish. Margaret recommended the split pea which was very good. And then I decided on a grilled octopus Greek salad. Which was definitely very good. The salad was finely chopped and the octopus was tender as could be! I didn't take photos of my salad or soup because I was so hungry that I forgot so apologies to my fellow. yelpers. Why I decided to have dessert I do not know because it was lunchtime but I guess that's the best time to have a ludicrously fattening dessert known as galactoboureko. How to describe this desert... HMMMMM... I think I will let you come here and try for yourself. Anyway I did order it with a cup of Greek coffee ordered medium. You have to know Greek coffee to know what I'm talking about. Anyway dessert was delicious and I have plenty to take home as the serving was monstrously big. And the coffee was OK. There was no Kaimaki on top. All you Greek yelpers will know what I am talking about. It is a must with great Greek coffee. Also with espresso. It's the tan foamy goodness that sits atop the steaming black hot coffee like a delicious blanket. The best part of my lunch was that the previous owner was actually sitting at another table in the restaurant and when the server and the current owners found out I was Greek they went and told him and he invited me to come sit with him and we had a wonderful conversation. Which makes for a perfect Greek meal because what makes a meal the best for Greeks is great conversation and , of course, great company! OPA!

Kristyn M.

Yelp
We eat here at least 1-2 times a week. Parea is the best - it's so delicious and consistent every single visit whether we eat in or do take out. Their grilled calamari and broiled scallops are my favorite!
