My wife & I used to come to this location when President Bush was in office. Bush as in Daddy HW!
The old Mediterranean snack bar is now reopened and is called Parea. My wife & I are seeing a show at The Paramount, we decided to stop in and remember the old days (and my 32 inch waist)
I'm a simple guy when it comes to Greek food, I want what I want. I ordered a kabob along with saganaki. The saganaki, I don't need the restaurant screaming OPA but it was different than what I'm used to. Saganaki is like Fundido, its hot cheesy goodness. Why are their tomatoes on the bottom?
Both dishes come out, my wife ordered falafel. The Falafel wasn't balls but one big hunk of love. The tahini sauce was a little thin and I didn't taste any garlic? My kabob, it was also one big hunk of meat, it wasn't in traditional cubes. My dinner was the star of the night, fantastic taste! The kabob was served on a bed of rice and peas, this was just a stick to your ribs good food. It's something my Yia-Yia would have made for me.
The dining room is quite large with two sides of the restaurant. The restaurant was packed after we sat down. It says on the door, that little Greek spot. And that's what Parea is, just a good spot for delicious Greek food.
