If you're ever in Grasse, you've gotta pop into Parfumerie Fragonard - The History Factory. It's this cool spot with a free guided tour that takes you through perfume-making history from 1926 onward, think old-school equipment, sniffing fresh lavender and jasmine, and seeing how they whip up scents today. Super interactive and great for families, plus you can mix your own perfume as a fun takeaway. The stuff smells amazing, lasts forever, and it's surprisingly affordable without any sales pressure. Quick visit that left me buzzing totally worth it!

I had a good experience during my visit, and the lady provided a clear introduction to Fragonard. I believe the products are generally of high quality. However, after the site visit, when we purchased some items, the service was not as professional as I had hoped. When I requested a product, she (in photo) simply placed it on the table with a neutral expression and without any explanation. I expected at least a smile or hand it to me. As the only Asian buyer in the group, I felt that I didn’t receive the respect or professional service I deserved. This experience led me to feel that this esteemed brand may not fully welcome Asian customers.

Really interesting story behind the museum; the tour and the visit are free. Really nice boutique with their fragrance products. I do not consider it a tourist trap as others saw it.

We visited Fragonard, one of the well-known perfume brands in Grasse. Around 1 PM, it was crowded inside, but there were plenty of staff members. They displayed perfumes, creams, room scents, and similar products in a large hall where you could easily try each product. We walked around comfortably and tested most of the items. The visuals were nice, too. We didn’t join a tour; our main goal was to try and see the products. Parking is limited in Grasse, and Fragonard most spots are reserved for tour buses. Finding parking is difficult, so be prepared to walk a bit.

Grasse is a small and beautiful town. It transforms you into medieval times. This town smells of great fragrance,  Fragonard. You definitely need to visit,  the tour of factory is free of charge but you need to book in advance. Their products are exceptionally good. This is a place not to be missed when planning a trip to French Riviera.

Interesting experience learning about fragrance blending. Everyone has the same basic fragrance components and created the same base with a few tweaks. Fragonard is everywhere in France and the fragrances are not as sophisticated or complex as Dior or Chanel but there are definitely some nice ones and they certainly are reasonably priced. If you are deeply interested in creating a signature fragrance for yourself, I suggest you book the $300+ experience at Galimard.

Storied parfumerie named after the painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard who was born in Grasse in 1732. Beautiful building and interesting museum. The highlight is a free factory tour where you can learn about how perfumes are manufactured. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Beautiful store.

If you want to learn more about perfume in the region go there. This perfume institute is the youngest of the three in Grasse and the guide we had was very knowledgeable about the history of the area.

Yelp
Tour was very interesting and I learned a lot about the making of perfume and why it costs so much! At the end, you get to sample all their scents and in my opinion....they are just okay. Nothing I would buy for myself (man) or a woman.

Yelp
I had an absolute amazing time at this museum. I highly recommend a visit. The history of making perfume is fascinating.

Yelp
I never heard of this perfume until I went to Grasse. They offer a free 30 minute tour of the museum which is a must do if you go to Grasse. The tour was really interesting because I had no idea how perfume was made before this. The tour ended in their shop and you can use the tips you learned from the tour to help you pick out which type of product you want. They have a variety of perfumes, soaps, body washes and lotion. Most of them smell wonderful and are all sold at an affordable price. The perfumes are much cheaper than the brand names you would find in the US. I bought a few products and I can't wait to use them. My only complaint is that they don't sell Fragonard perfumes in the US.

Yelp
Today was our day to explore fragrances in France and couldn't decide on which of the main three perfumeries to visit so we did all three! Fragonard is by far the easiest to find and also has ample parking in their own parking lot. Mind you it's March so it's not busy yet. As soon as we enter, we are greeted by friendly staff member who speaks English too! Yay! My broken French still got us by, but this was way easier. Our tour guide was friendly energetic and knowledgeable. The tour was quick and gave just enough information without being too rushed. They do a sell at the end but it is well worth it for their pure Parfum. There are four, spring 'etoile', summer 'belle cherie', fall 'fleur de nuit' and winter 'diamant'. All very well priced! They carry other scents as well ranging from eau de Parfum, to eau de toilette as well as soaps, home fragrances, body lotions and hand creams. There is no pressure to buy anything but you'd have a hard time not to!

Yelp
Grasse is home to a number of perfume factories but none quite as nice as Fragonard. If you go for a tour- you will be taken through a high level overview of how perfume is made today and in the past. The smells of this tour change from room to room depending on what they are making from jasmine, to lavender to rose. . . . It was all a little overwhelming. But don't worry if your nose just stops processing smells after a few sniffs- the simple trick I learned along my tour was to breathe into my scarf or sleeve a couple of times and my sense of smell was restored. Yep! You heard it here first! At the end of the tour you end up in their shop where they will try to sell you a variety of perfumes and colognes. Buy or don't buy- there is not a hard sell job but know that there are deals they will put in place to entice you so if you are not offered a free room atomizer, or discount on 5, ask the question. All in all worth the time it took to wander around and even learn a thing or two. And when you are done- walk through the town, you might even find something else that strikes your fancy. Even if you don't, it's worth a walk through

Yelp
This museum/factory is gorgeous. I took a tour during a tour of Grasse although I'd already taken a tour of a Fragonard factory in Eze and boy am I glad I did. Our tour guide Monica was awesome! She was so personable and funny! I felt like I was hanging with one of my girls, she imparted her knowledge on the brand's history but kept things light and fun. She taught us how the scents were extracted from fruits and plants and even explained how rarer scents like amber and musk are obtained. The building's original architecture was kept nearly intact which made the experience even grander. Their gift shop is large and beautiful and I got some amazing pictures of the grounds. I purchased a sample pack of perfumes which came with about 10 different scents all at a really great price. Now every time I wear one of the scents I am transported back to my charming old town experience.

Yelp
Wonderful perfume factory!! If you are in the south of France, you must go to Grasse. Grasse is one of the perfume capitols of our lovely planet and this factory is a gorgeous, sensually stimulating experience. You can go through the museum part of the factory which is upstairs and see the antiques that they used to use to draw pheremones & hormones from animals (sad I know!) back in the day. Kinda gnarly. This part is boring. If you go downstairs, you can get into the formal tour portion, but you better speak some french bc it's done in French! They go into the entire modern fragrance making process of this working factory. Now...onto the besssst part. The BEST part of Fragonard is definitely their downstairs retail shop where the stunning, chic sales women do even more educational chats to an eager, always full crowd. You get to walk around and smell all the formulas and learn about the notes in a hands on fashion. They teach you the differences between the fragrance in any given true perfume, eau de toilette, lotion, candle, etc. They literally have something for everyone and I bought what became my signature summer scent there. It was a sexy oriental with amber and musk under notes and a very subtle floral in the middle. Amazing. Bought loads of gifts for other people too which were well received back here in Cali bc they came with such a good story of my lovely weekend in sunny Grasse! There is a multi-leve car park underneath the museum which they valet for so definitely park there b/c afterwards you'll def wanna walk around and take in the sights as the museum is perched on an amazing vista and is walking distance to many little cafes and local vendors. You won't find a lot of American or British tourists here but you will find a good deal of French tourists taking in their summer which for me was true bliss.

Yelp
Cute little modern museum describing the history of parfume. I especially loved the little scents scattered around the building. I didn't like the one with cocaine, etc, you'll know when you get there. I couldn't get the smell out of my nose for the longest time. We didn't have more time to stay and read everything but worth a visit.

Yelp
This place is amazing and a must visit when in France! They give you a tour and you can see how perfumes and soaps are made from fresh flowers, herbs and fruits. You can then visit the boutique to sample, buy and ask questions about their products. Staff is friendly, helpful and gracious. Memorable indeed!
