Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding!!! Kudos to Steve and Susan Dodson. Because we had a low clearance, not 4 wheel drive vehicle, we booked two different tours with Paria Outpost & Outfitters. Booking the tours was easy by phone through Susan. The lunches she packed for us were complete and delicious. Steve took us out for a full day at White Pocket, an other-worldly surreal landscape in the Vermilion Cliffs. The weather ran the gambit from chilling cold, to beautiful white puffy clouds, to gray ominous clouds, to rain and even snow, so we got to see White Pocket in all of its glorious moods. Steve was patient and understanding as he masterfully navigated us throughout the different rock formations, every turn providing something even more splendid than the last. The next day, Steve took us on a 4-hour off-road tour of the Grand Staircase - Escalante along the beautiful scenic Cottonwood Canyon Road, with stops along the way to take a short hike through the Cottonwood Canyon Narrows, and a drive over to the abandoned Paria town site. Steve was engaging, quite knowledgeable, and provided great insight into the Grand Staircase. Steve and Susan are not only passionate about what they do, they revere the land they are blessed to show others. You will be provided an excellent immersive experience when you book a tour with Paria Outpost & Outfitters. Thank you Steve and Susan for both memorable outings.

We had an absolutely awesome trip to White Pocket with Mark, who was very knowledgeable about the area and is a wonderfully talented photographer! If I could give 13 stars, I would!

Don was a fantastic guide for the White Pocket Wilderness area! It was a wild ride to the area as the area had just experienced quite a bit of rain. He handled the road like a boss. He even taught us a few photography tricks as he is a professional photographer with a high degree of knowledge about the area. There were only 3 in our group. We had a ton of great conversations and laughs! Thanks for a great day Don! :)

Absolutely LOVED going out to White Pocket with Steve. We spent more time out there than any other tour group that we saw AND Steve showed us all the iconic photo spots. We had a photography enthusiast in our group and Steve made sure that he got every shot. Do yourself a favour and book with Steve over other tour operators. Thanks Steve!

Google
Paria Outpost & Outfitters far exceed our expectations. They are professional, knowledgeable, energetic, helpful, and ensured our trip to White Pocket would be memorable. And it was. Steve was our guide and stayed with us the entire time to make sure we saw all the best areas to photograph. Steve and his wife Susan have been in business for over two decades and know every square mile of the Paria Plateau. Unlike the other tour companies who are in Kanab or Page, PO&O are only a few miles from House Rock Valley Road, the primary access to White Pocket, the Wave, and many other phenomenal landscapes within the Paria Plateau. I am planning to return and will certainly hire Paria Outpost & Outfitters for my next adventure.

Steve and Susan are wonderful! Enjoyed the day with Steve in White Pocket. Personable and knowledgeable, he knew exactly the kind of tour that would suit us. We had a blast!

My wife and I spent 2+ magical hours exploring White Pocket yesterday in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument with our excellent guide, Don, from Paria Outpost and Outfitters (POO). During our trip, we saw some of the most colorful, picturesque and weirdly-shaped rock formations imaginable. Don did a great job helping us meander through the 1-mile square “pocket,” ensuring that we didn’t miss any of the hidden secrets of the formation, which would have been easy to do given the jumble of rocks, ridges and fins that comprise the “pocket.” And as a former professional photographer, he was spot on each time he suggested I shoot from “here” rather than where I was standing just 5 ft away. Due to some sketchy weather, we chatted with Susan and Steve, long-time owners of POO, several times to figure out when to schedule our trip. They were both patient and willing to share their extensive knowledge about the area and weather, which allowed us to identify the right 1-day window for our White Pocket adventure. We have worked with POO in prior years, and plan to visit S. Coyote Butte with their help next year!

I did a trip to white pocket in 2023 and you couldn’t ask for a better guide. Mike’s driving skills are spot on, he was very knowledgeable about photography and just a fun down to earth person. I hope to do another tour through Paria soon.

Yelp
Paria Outpost (Steve) provided my wife and I an amazing guided tour of the Cottonwood Cove area So. Coyote Buttes. Steve's knowledge of the area was on full display by taking us to all the places we wanted to see while skillfully avoiding three other groups. Susan makes an excellent vegetarian lunch. Pre trip reservation was easy. All communication was prompt, professional, and did not mind working old school (phone & email). Vehicle was clean and comfortable. To end the day Steve provided us with some "local knowledge" related to the Wahweap and Sidestep Canyon Hoodoos. We were able to quickly find both locations based on his input and tips. Highly recommend this guided tour service.

Yelp
Great day hiking White Pocket with Paria Outpost. We racked up almost 6 miles hiking with Steve showing us great picture opportunities and sights that the other guided groups weren't going to. Not only was Paria cheaper than the bigger guides but they also included a packed lunch and Gatorade after the hike. Paria Outpost is closer to the tour locations than the other tour operators which gives you more time for exploring and less time driving. Steve and his wife have been in the area for over 30 years and have plenty of advice and recommendations for the surrounding area. Even better is you can camp at the Outpost for free and keep exploring the area. Highly recommend Paria Outpost and look forward to returning!

Yelp
Paria Outpost shuttled 9 of us from Lee's Ferry to White House so we could hike back to our vehicles parked in the long-term lot at Lee's Ferry. They told us to be there promptly at 8:00AM, we were, and they arrived right on time. They had just enough room for our gear in the two vehicles. Susan was very engaging during the trip, answering all our questions on the area. We got to White house right on time, picked up our permits and off we went. It was an on-time, uneventful shuttle. In my book, that's the right kind. The cost split between 9 people was quite reasonable - no sense in leaving 1/2 your vehicles at each end and driving yourself.

Yelp
With only one day left in Kanab and already having visited Bryce, Zion and other easily accessible sites, we wanted to visit something unique and off the beaten path - and Steve and Susan delivered w a private tour to White Pocket (4x4 required). Steve is a knowledgeable and patient guide, letting us go at our own pace, answering questions and pointing out the best viewpoints and photo shots at White Pocket - not fancy or out to make a quick buck, but someone passionate about nature and wanting to share the best of the southwest with you. With extra time left, he kindly brought us to Wire Pass and Buck Skin Gulch - reception is spotty so get your day pass in advance at recreation.gov. Unable to get a permit to the Wave / with Antelope Canyon closed, White Pocket and Buck Skin Gulch were the perfect alternatives. 8.5 hours, and 8M later (Steve is a machine!), we were really satisfied and grateful for the great guiding and hospitality. He genuinely wanted you to enjoy your experience and make great memories in his "backyard" and leave you wanting to come back. It truly was one of our favorite days. He also shared some great suggestions for Kanab, and our next destination, Pag Plentiful sack lunch and beverages also included. Also felt COVID safe.

Yelp
I'll be honest and say that I'm on a mission to get Steve to start up the BBQ side of things again. The place in Page really leaves something to be desired. I say that this makes perfect business sense since everyone comes back from the tours hungry! Besides that we had a good guide who let us go at our own pace. Was glad to let someone else with the right vehicle tackle the sandy roads.

Yelp
We did the White Pocket tour with Pete. Amazing adventure day for our group. The entire experience from booking thru return trip was easy, fun, and well worth the cost. Leave the driving to the experts! The roads can get very sandy! Pete helped us explore the area, and helped cater our day based on our expetience and interests. We also learned a lot and got new ideas for future hikes. We all agreed that this tour group is customer focused and make the effort to make your day memorable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Steve and Cindy provided an amazing White Pocket tour experience for our family of ten - ranging from one to 67. They are very knowledgeable of the area, patient and caring. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a tour of this area. We all felt extremely safe in their care. Overall just great people, great experience!

Yelp
Susan & Steve are very friendly, efficient, & knowledgeable about the area. They offer several different tour & shuttle options, many on the road less traveled, but they have four wheel drives to get you there. I went on a tour with Steve, and the scenery was mind-boggling. I highly recommend exploring the area with Paria Outpost.

Yelp
Best guide in Kanab, UT and surrounding area. Steve is like a sommelier of the Southwest. Just tell him or Susan (his better half) what you want to see and he can come up with a tour. Not an entertainer, just a thoughtful soul dedicated to nature and the land whose knowledge of the area is outstanding and current. He will keep you safe and give you the opportunity to have your mind blown by some of the best that mother nature has to offer.

Yelp
We went on a tour of the White Pocket in September with the Paria Outpost tour group. This particular tour does not require a permit. They were very easy to deal with on the phone and very friendly and honest. They packed us all lunches and had drinks in the very comfortable suburban that is outfitted for the terrain that we encountered. The driver/guide that we had was Mike, who turned out to be a very knowledgeable retired pro photographer and was very well informed about all the areas that we went to. He is a great guide. On our back to our tours, we were trying to book rooms in Page, AZ for that night and discovered that ALL the hotels in town were booked! We were rather surprised at that as it is a rather out of the way area. It was raining and we had exhausted all of our options, when Mike offered the four of us to stay with he and his wife at their home! Talk about going above and beyond. We did stay with him and were very comfortable. I highly recommend this company. You will not be disappointed .
