The Standout Asian Bakeries in NYC

"A corporate Korean megachain that exemplifies the global circuit of Asian patisserie—so much so that its 2014 opening of a Paris outpost near the Louvre drew local ire—reflecting how Korean café culture and patisserie have been globalized, adapted, and re-exported." - E. Alex Jung

OVERALL RATING 6/10 This location is in Chinatown in Chicago. The atmosphere is inviting. The tables, floors, and bathrooms are very clean. As soon as someone gets up from their table, an employee comes and cleans the table. They offer a wide variety of cakes, donuts, and pastries. The music is calming and soothing. The Iced Coffee Latte was not flavorful; very bland. Not able to finish the drink. The pastries are wonderful and fresh.

Absolutely LOVED IT! Me & my husband went back twice the same day. Nice atmosphere, nice people and the pastries were super fluffy, flaky and delicious!! 10/10 !

Google
Paris Baguette feels like a little slice of Paris in Chicago. The pastries are flaky, buttery, and beautifully crafted each bite melts in your mouth. From delicate macarons to savory sandwiches and rich coffee, it’s an ideal spot for a charming breakfast or a sweet afternoon pick-me-up. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a quick break or catching up with friends. I highly recommend 🫶🏾

Google
What an incredible pastry shop!!! Our cashier Justin was polite and efficient and deserving of the optional tip. The atmosphere is vibrant with tons of foot traffic which offers a feeling of excitement. The trays lined with parchment paper and mini tongs make for a sanitary self service establishment. As for the food: The pictures speak for themselves! So deliciously decadent that it is ridiculous!!!!

Google
I recently visited a breakfast restaurant that offered a wide variety of delicious options, and it was an amazing experience. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and had something for everyone, from classic pancakes to unique specialty dishes. The service was excellent—the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great spot to start the day. Every dish we tried was flavorful and satisfying. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast experience. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Google
I had the best Asian mango and coconut cake I've ever tasted! It was absolutely adorable, with pieces of fruit throughout. So light and airy! The strawberry croissant and macarons were also delicious. Everything on display looked amazing, and I wanted to try it all! I'll definitely be back!

Google
Paris Baguette is a self serve bakery along the Main Street in Chinatown. They offer really delicious pastries from croissants, danish, a variety of mochi donuts, savory breads, sweet buns, breads, muffins and specialty decorated cakes! They have gourmet teas and coffees to accompany the deserts. There’s plenty of room to sit and enjoy your purchases. Everything is made fresh and tastes amazing! We tried the matcha mochi donut, almond croissant, lemon tart and bought a loaf of raisin milk bread for home. Items are generously filled, garnished and decorated with top quality ingredients. They wrap them nicely as well. Service is fast!

Yelp
The gist: Its so good, we're going back! The details: We came to Paris Baguette while visiting Chicago to get a cake to celebrate my sister and brother-in-law's wedding anniversary. There were so many options that looked appealing. In addition to cakes, there were pastries, lattes, milk tea, etc. We went with the red velvet cake. It was delicious! Super moist, very fresh and they packaged it well. They let us pick it up right then and gave the option to have a message written plate. They also gave us a cake cutter and candles. For our individual desserts, we settled for cookies as our initial preferences were sold out. Note: Go early. We initially went in Paris Baguette around 2pm but decided to explore Chinatown first so that we would not have to carry the cake around. By the time we got back, around 4pm, most of the pastries we'd seen earlier were sold out and had been replaced with cookies. We were a little disappointed, but those cookies were absolutely delicious! That said, we decided that it's definitely worth a trip tomorrow to try some of the more unique items like the Biscoff cruffin, blueberry yogurt cake, and strawberry & Nutella pizzetta. Good service. Some of the items were a little pricey, but the cookies were actually reasonable for the huge size. The bakery was spacious... more spacious than anything else in. Chinatown. Overall: I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Isn't a gift card treated the same as cash? Picked up a $40 mini cake and used a Paris Baguette $25 gift card. Paris Baguette taxed full $40 before taking off the $25 gift card. Instead paying $15+tax, they charged me $18+tax. Why would people getting gift card from them if we end up paying more? The receipt showed I purchased something else because their system couldn't take $25 off.

Yelp
Nice coffee shop in Chinatown. Clean, fresh bakery and coffee. A bit expensive for all the bakeries they have compared to to other Asian bakeries I have been though. Good service!

Yelp
Delicious pastries and so many different options. They have seasonal options and frequently have new things. I have loved all things I have had. Crispy croissants, fresh and well balanced fruit pastries and chocolate that's so yummy. Service is helpful and friendly. Clean and open eating area with plenty of seating. My favorite from this trip was the cronut. Light lemon frosting and it was not too sweet, just right.

Yelp
Not a working on your laptop need to focus coffee shop. It's a tourist location in the heart of Chinatown. Get ready for lots of traffic and loud conversations. The crossaint donut was insane though!!! and this stuff is so expensive. See my other post about the Panadería in Pilsen.

Yelp
Man we wanted to try this spot so bad. But our backs were dam near in the floor at this point but I still took some videos for next time.

Yelp
Very cute decor and ambiance, however the service was mediocre, but it's fine. There was a huge selection of pastries with options for everyone. It's also self-serve, which is a plus. I enjoyed the blueberry cream cheese pastry as well as the coffee one. The curry was just okay, probably wouldn't get it again. The Nutella latte was pretty bad in my opinion and needed a lot of doctoring up. I'd definitely return again because there's more pastries that I would love to try.

Yelp
We decided to stop here for a sweet treat and I'm glad we did. I've never been in a pastry shoppé, nor somewhere that you grab a tray and go grab everything that you want yourself. This was a cool experience just to do and also it being in Chinatown was cool as well. First time I've eaten macaroons and they were awesome! One being red velvet and the other strawberry shortcake, as well as a stuffed chocolate crème donut, which had far too much filling. Also got the little strawberry donut and the ball is like a churro, but said red bean filling? Not sure what that was about but it didn't really taste like anything. The cinnamon on the outside was good though, again just like a churro. I believe it was $21 with all pictured plus a water, so maybe a little pricy but I enjoyed the desserts and the atmosphere

Yelp
We always visit Paris Baguette when we are in Chinatown. On our first visit, we tried a Coffee Croissant Donut; holy cow, yum... that darn donut is what gets us back in the door. We have tried many sweet items; our faves are the almond croissant, the Feuillete au Chocolat and the Coffee Croissant Donut. We also have tried many savory items and enjoyed them all. The coffee drinks aren't bad either. The shop is clean and when we have been there, it's been crowded but seating is always available. Service usually with a smile. Can't wait to get back to Chinatown and our Coffee Donut!

Yelp
I literally ADORE this spot! It's so cute and everything looks so yummy and I crave everything in there lol I want to try all the cake slices if possible. Their blueberry chiffon cake.. WOW! I've raved before at the other location & I'll rave again... I have to have the full cake for my birthday - no ifs, ands, or buts! We tried their crab meat croquette which was interesting cause it didn't give croquette. It was tasty though.. just not what we expected. We were also starving though so we didn't care too much. If you're new.. download the app for a free treat!

Yelp
I spotted this amazing title last week when I checked into my one-star Chinatown Hotel but I promised myself I wouldn't go in u til I was ready to leave and that day came today! I was enthralled and it exceeded expectations as a very chic and amazing bakery with decent prices and amazing confection. I had the almond croissant which was 10/10 and hazelnut coffee with oat milk 10/10.

Yelp
Beautiful display of pastries to choose from, almost anything that your stomach desires. Lots of people appear to be "working" due to the laptops opened in the seating area. Great tourist spot right at the entrance of Chinatown. Crowed but manageable, not a long wait to enjoy your order.

Yelp
I have always enjoyed going to Paris Baguette. Went to the one opened in Chinatown and quality is still exceptional and did not disappoint. Selections offered are great although prices are a bit more expensive than other bakeries but you get what you pay for. The space is quite large, clean and plenty of sitting area and just bright and airy with lots of natural light. As with everything in Chinatown, there is no free parking bur ample paid street parking. Then why the 3 stars? Service, or lack thereof. The place was fairly empty when I went there on a weekday mid morning. I lined up to pay and the cashier that attended me could not have been more disinterested! No greetings, took a few times to open up the paper bag as she had very long nails which made it difficult for her to grasp the paper, essentially dumped the items I bought (remember the very long nails) and just rang me up. I kid you not - there were no words uttered from her. This really soured my experience with this particular store and sadly, makes me hesitant going back. Hope management would do better training their staff. A simple hello and a smile would have made a world of difference to a customer. 5 for food, 5 for ambiance and 0 for service.

Yelp
The food is freshly prepared every morning and has a lot of unique selections! I ordered a graduation cake from them - it looked amazing and even tasted great. The customer service is top notch. The manager, Justin, always does me right. He's the best!
google avatar

Yelp
The products are fresh and clean. They offered to reheat my crab croquette which was enjoyable, though prices feel a bit high. Baked goods start at $4 and go up from there--two pastries and a large coffee totaled $14.50 before tip. Not the best deal, but not the worst either. Overall, a nice spot for a morning stop.

Yelp
Stopped here while I was wandering around Chinatown. Very excellent pastries. Not a huge selection but it was varied enough where you will easily find 2-3 things you want to try. The inside is very clean. Very bright and welcoming. They have Wi-Fi and several people were there doing work and homework it seemed. Coffee was excellent.

Yelp
I love all Paris Baguette cafes! I was so glad to find this in Chinatown. I got the coconut mochi donut, pecan tart, and croissant. I also used one of the offers in the app and got a chai tea latte with a free pastry. Everything is so good as always! Everyone was very kind. It's such a cute place and it was clean.

Yelp
Good bakery - lots of choices. I walked to the bakery from the convention center. Paris Baguette is big and spacious and clean. They bake at the site. I ate a delicious almond raspberry croissant that was flaky and crispy and chewy. I also had a cherry cheese pastry and a coconut chia mango pudding. And of course a latte. The server was good (but overwhelmed by a large order placed right before me).
google avatar

Len L.

Yelp
I am glad that Paris Baguette is open in Chinatown, now I can enjoy my favorite Almond Croissant and Americano close to home. The interior is nicely decorated with many tables along the other side of the room. There is free wifi and a few plugs along the wall. I like the fairly open area where you can see the bakers roll and bake the new batches. Service is impecable as I did not have to wait long for my Americano. I would highly recommend and I love my almond croissant.
google avatar

Jingyan L.

Yelp
I bought Match Lattes before but not at this location, those were good... But the one I got today seems not a Matcha Latte, the taste and the color. It tasted like some other kind of coffee was added and it's too sweet! Really don't recommend.

Carter J.

Yelp
The way the system works for where you put the food on a trey is good. No too crowded and very fancy.
google avatar

Gaby C.

Yelp
I ordered an uber cake for my partners birthday. They loved it because it's not too overwhelming sweet. My only issue is how expensive the cakes are for the amount of cake. But I understand they extremely taste and they are worth it for a special occasion. I will be buying again.
google avatar

Sharon V.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick snack on our way to the water taxi. It's such a cute little bakery that isn't overwhelming with all the options and you can choose what you want yourself before you check out. Loved the donuts and the experience, we will def be back! Staff is also super friendly.

Yelp
New favorite bakery unlocked! Not only is the Cafe so warm, clean and inviting. The colors and smells of the pastries fill the air as you walk into the doors. Definitely try to savor each bite of these delicious pastries. Because they just melt in your mouth. I love sweets and these had just the perfect sweetness to them. A big bonus is they also sell delicious drinks that pair with the pastries. My favorite is all the fresh fruit topped pastries, followed by the garlic butter croissant. Delicious!

Yelp
Love their bake goodies. We had Almond crossant, coconut croissant with a crab meat croqette. Also had a killer pistachio-latte totally came back here. The place was nice and had a clean atmosphere.
google avatar

Vina R.

Yelp
Was being a tourist and had to go to the restroom. Apparently this is the only place in Chinatown that allows people to use the restroom. Decided to buy something since they were the only ones allowing tourists to use the restroom. Lucky me I was able to find a dairy free item! I was shocked as most Korean bakeries don't have anything dairy free. I bought the honey bread that is individually prepackaged. The bread was so good! So fluffy and tasty that I thought it had dairy. It didn't bc I didn't get sick at all. Had I known it was going to be that good I would have bought more to go. Place is nice and clean. Next time I see a Paris Baguette I'm stopping by for my dairy free honey bread lol.

Yelp
Super hard to park at this location please be very aware almost zero parking at all times how I know how I found parking I Musta had God on my side and I went twice oh yeah and I'm from California so I just parked like all the rest of the Chicagoan which is very crazy but the shop is exceptional. They hardly had anything there when I got there the first day, I still got something and when I went the second day parking was even harder. I I still got something and it was exceptional. I love this place its favorite bakery in the world. I've been in Las Vegas Los Angeles now Chicago, New York, Florida. I love this bakery. I'll go for this bakery. I wish I had pictures of the food, but I eat it in the car. Service it's always excellent and ambience is well. I always eat it in my car or somewhere else so that's excellent too. I can't wait to go to the next one in Los Angeles when I land.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
This place was bomb. Good food. Quick and easy. A little crowded because it's China town. Fire fire this place is great
google avatar

Rhonda L.

Yelp
Where has this place been all my life? The most delicious little pastries, perfect for entertaining a few friends or just treats at home. Everything I've had was delicious.
google avatar

Melanie W.

Yelp
What is all the hype about?!?! All you taste is the oil from the cinnamon crunch twist roll. Blueberry cream roll, the bread was dry, the only thing that was good was the cream custard.

A B.

Yelp
Yummy. Great Bakery items!!! The brownies and jumbo chocolate chunk cookies are to die for!!! Will be back!!!

Christina C.

Yelp
Kelly was super rude to my family, very snappy and a nasty attitude even to her coworker.

Faith V.

Yelp
this paris baguette at this location was amazing. lots of variety & fresh! mostly cleaned.

Harry W.

Yelp
Good Bday cake especially mango and coconut not too sweet that's what I like prices are right for the quality you pay for
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
Unfortunately the cashier was very rude, which made it even harder to eat the overcooked croissants. I got the raspberry almond croissant, Dry and hard. The raspberry croissant crunch overcooked and dry. There is much better Bakerys close by.
google avatar

NaywriChi W.

Yelp
Ahh! This used to be Won Kow restaurant, remember that? P.G. has been hot lately! Another one opened in River East in Dec. All the locations are separate owners. The staff and service is exceptional.

Lisa P.

Yelp
Save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. There are too many other bakeries that are better. These croissants are not flakey, instead they are tough and chewy and the cream and custard are nothing special.

Sophia L.

Yelp
The food here is DELICIOUS definitely have to come in a little early because Jesus I came in on a Saturday and they were packed and almost sold out!!!! I love the jumbo donut, cheese pastry Frank. I also got a lemon cake slice and it was so good. The staff were friendly and helpful. They a lot of options to choose from and I honestly didn't want to leave haha. Overall great experience and I love the vibe here.

Barry Y.

Yelp
Good pastries, little expensive. More for the younger generation. I have gone there a few times and it's good place for when I want to treat myself to something different.

Ashlee E.

Yelp
Pastries are amazing, place is bright and airy, servers are always pleasant and helpful.
google avatar

Edison V.

Yelp
Newly opened location in Chinatown. They serve many Paris Baguette pastries and coffees. Nice ambiance and decor, it is actually huge there is a second area in the back with more seats. Nice place to grab a snack and stay warm and lounge a bit from the Chicago cold (during wintertime).

Ivan A.

Yelp
Such a great bakery! Delicious pastries with lots of options! Service was okay, but the place was super clean. I definitely recommend going and checking them out.
