The 48 Best Things to Do in Paris

"The Philharmonie de Paris is a striking contemporary building, designed by Jean Nouvel (not without controversy) and opened in 2015. Located within the Cité de la Musique complex in the Parc de la Villette, in the underexplored 19th arrondissement, the building breaks with all the design conventions of traditional symphony halls, instead favoring pod-like boxes inside the theater, a stage in the round, and a complex, undulating metal façade." - Melissa Liebling-Goldberg, Julia Eskins

Our visit here was memorable. The acoustics of the building are terrific and it’s a visual wonder. It should be noted that the balcony seats in the choir, left of stage, while comfortable and affording excellent visibility suffer from the perhaps inevitable problem of hearing the soloist (pianist Yunchan Lim) over the brass section of the orchestra behind which we were seated. Overall a terrific and memorable experience.

Incredible venue for concerts and exhibitions. The architecture is breathtaking and the acoustic of the main room is amazing. It’s definitely worth to come and see whatever is happening at the venue, you won’t regret it. There are also temporary exhibitions that are always super interesting.

Beautiful building, amazing acoustics. The rest depends on the performance. In my case - one of the best Jazz shows, where every note counts and the extraordinary sound quality made it happen.
