Everyone already knows Paris S’éveille is good. You don’t need another food review from me to convince you to go. I’m only here to offer a few warnings.
First, think twice before bringing your kids, unless you’re prepared for them to reject ordinary chocolate for the rest of their lives.
Second, if you’re visiting as a tourist, be careful. It’s dangerous to know that you can get this level of quality at such a friendly price. Finding something comparable elsewhere is difficult.
Now, let’s talk about Le Supreme.
The delicacy of the chocolate is astonishing. So thin, so fragile, it shatters at the slightest touch, the way all beautiful things seem to. The fruitiness of the chocolate dances across my tongue, seeping inward, so lush and concentrated that I have to pause after each bite and take a breath.
Then the blackberry jam bursts in, like a bright, lively, carefree teenage girl, instantly lights up the entire room.
On top, the nutty crisp asserts itself with authority. It briefly pulls you out of the chocolate’s immersive embrace, only to drench you in a deeper wave of roasted richness. Perfectly toasted, deeply caramelized, the nuttiness blooms and lingers.
