The 6 Best Hostels in Cusco (Updated 2025)

"This Cusco location is an institution and part of a small Peruvian-owned chain; the staff are amazing and organize lots of social events that make it easy to meet people. In the dorms there are individual reading lights and outlets by each bed (no privacy curtains), plus lockers with outlets so you can safely charge electronics while you're out; the showers have hot water though they can sometimes take a little time to warm up, and there's free tea available 24/7 (including coca tea)." - Matthew Kepnes

We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel! We booked a private room for three, which was spacious and relatively clean, though the sheets were a bit stained. The hostel felt safe and welcoming, with plenty of organized events and activities for guests to join. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take part as many trips in Cusco start very early in the morning. Overall, a great place to stay – safe, social, and comfortable. We’d highly recommend it.

My experience in Cusco was awesome and that's also thank to Pariwana hostel. It's located in a very good position, in the center of the city, very close to the main square, plaza de armas. The rooms are clean, the garden is big and there is space to share time with other people (guests and/or volunteers) or just to stay alone enjoying a book or whatever you like. There is also a ping pong table. It's a safe and comfortable space, and the volunteers and staff are very friendly. The activities at the bar are fun, and there's also the possibility of having a city tour, or other cool experiences like a ceviche class, salsa class or going to San Cristobal mirador to see an incredible view of the city with the sunset. Alex, Julia, Rhannya and Marcela were just nice with me and with the other guests. A real pleasure staying there! I fully recommend the hostal to everybody!

I stayed at this hostel recently and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the place has a really good ambiance and a lively atmosphere. There are plenty of fun activities organized, which makes it easy to meet people and enjoy your stay socially. However, the rooms were a big letdown. The washrooms gave off a very unpleasant smell that spread into the rooms, making it uncomfortable and even difficult to sleep at night. This really overshadowed the otherwise great vibe of the hostel.

I am completely disappointed with this hostel in Cusco for many reasons. Which is too bad, because I stayed at the Pariwana in Lima and quite enjoyed it. In Cusco there are so many issues:|1. The rooms are always left unlocked and sometimes the doors don’t even shut properly. My friend didn’t even get a key! 2. There is ZERO security in the building - anyone walks in without looking at bracelets. Today a whole family took up half of the common space, breastfed their son and the children were screaming and knocking over our things on the shared table. They even pushed my friend off the couch. I’ve seen many sketchy people come in and out with no regard for the safety of the guests. 3. Speaking of guests, the hostel website says adults only. There have been very young children (ages 2-16) in the hostel the whole time I’ve been here. 4. There are supposed to be 2 bathrooms in a dorm of 10 people, 1 of which has been locked for the entirety of my stay. The other has been taken by someone throwing up most of today. 5. The “free wifi” is basically non-existent. I’ve been using my phone as a hotspot to be able to connect or download anything. Inside the rooms the wifi and LTE doesn’t work at all. There are no windows in the room, basically a cement box, so no wonder. 6. The SMELL is atrocious in every part. Diesel fumes from the street are constant through the main area, the actual dorms have mold and a dingy smell constantly. ||Honestly, I have no idea how this place gets good reviews.

The hostel is fantastic, always something to do with great activities and great staff. Alix, Julia, Tati, and Marcella were amazing to hang out with and always made sure everyone was having a good time. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back. Super social

Pariwana was incredible! It is in a great part of town with so many activities, and they have coca leaf tea ready for you. The staff are also incredibly helpful! Specifically Rhannya and Kezia helped us out when a tour that had hadn’t contacted us. So so happy with our stay and would highly recommend!

We arrived at the hostel as walk-in guests at around 4:30 AM, looking to book two beds for two nights. According to the website, the hostel offers a 24-hour front desk — but the experience we had didn’t reflect that at all. The staff member on duty didn’t speak a single word of English, and our Spanish is very basic — so communication was extremely difficult. After some back and forth, we were told to book online because the staff member couldn’t manage the booking manually. When booking online, we could only select the following night (not the current one). He then informed us that an early check-in would cost 6% more — which was fine for us. However, after we completed the booking and paid, he suddenly told us the hostel was full. So we ended up paying for a night in a fully booked hostel, and he couldn’t (or wouldn’t) refund us. Maybe the hostel itself is good, but the staff working that night was absolutely unqualified for the job. This kind of customer service is unacceptable, especially for travelers arriving at odd hours and relying on the promised 24-hour reception service.

Great hostel, cool activities. Our rooms were smelly unfortunately and the bedsheets not so clean. After we said something to the reception, they handled immediately but the smell was back after 24hour (bathroom). Good location in the centre of cusco. Offer free salsa class and yoga classes and more!
