No elevator, but luckily Franco, the muscle man aka security aka first line of defense and the first friendly face you’ll see at the door is always around to help. He carried my (very heavy) suitcases up without hesitation.
Mili at reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She showed me to my room, and between her and Franco, I felt taken care of from the moment I arrived.
Moises, the energetic event coordinator, deserves a special shout-out. He has one job and that is to make sure we all had an amazing stay! So I joined the sunset walk and fruit tasting, and it was such a fun experience. He brought great energy, got everyone participating, and made it super social. Afterwards, there was a short Peruvian class “Dilo En Peruano” that was unexpectedly fun and engaging. I even made new friends. Extra points for the free shots he kept pouring (straight into our mouths, lol).
Also, don’t forget to join their WhatsApp group! Moises constantly updates it with the daily events so you never feel left out!
The location of the hostel is great! Tons of eateries, cafés, and tour operators are just steps away, which made getting around and planning things super convenient.
Definitely don’t skip the tour info desk next to reception. Martin was super helpful, he literally sat with me for 3hr helping me plan my entire Peru adventure. I booked the Sacred Valley + Machu Picchu tour through them, and both were absolutely amazing!
Now for the not-so-great part: the dorm’s private bathroom wasn’t very clean, even though I paid extra for it. The water pressure was weak, kept cutting in and out, and the water was more lukewarm than hot. Funny enough, the common bathroom next to the bar was super clean, and I ended up using that one more than the bathroom in my room.
My room was right next to the rooftop party area, but surprisingly I slept fine and didn’t need earplugs (though they do provide a complimentary pair in a tiny box under the light switch).
They offer luggage storage for 10 soles per day, which was convenient. Just a heads-up: getting an Uber can be tricky since the hostel is right on a busy street. If you’re traveling with multiple heavy suitcases like I was, it helps to pin your pickup spot a little farther away from the entrance.
Overall, I’d come back mainly because of the staff! They work incredibly hard (from security, front desk, housekeeping, events and bar) and bring so much warmth to the place. I just hope the cleanliness of the in-room bathrooms gets improved.
