Beautiful place. If you want to have fun exploring a palace/house without the mass amounts of tourists like Pena Palace, this is your place. Beautiful gardens to hike through. Signs are lacking a little on the garden trail, we ended up a service road heading down to the next village. If you want to walk directly to the Palace, veer right once you walk through the entrance after a couple 100 feet.

One of the most impressive Botanic gardens I've ever visited. Very amazing rare trees, monkey puzzle tree for example and a redwood sequoia. And many others. Also huge ferns. And they have an amazing collection of cacti. I also recommend to use zoomguide to get to know the park better while you walk there. The castle in itself is tiny, but it's all worth it, it really made me think of the Alhambra

One of the most beautiful palaces and gardens I ever visited and I am a fan. The carving on the walls inside takes your breath away. The room with 12 muses busts is the most beautifully planned. I am in love with the garden layering and planning, you can see how much work went into making different areas and styles look so organic together. Great place for nature and art lovers. No times slots booking needed. Hop on and hop off buses run until 18:30, park clothes at 19:00. Make sure you can spend 2-3 hours here as the area is huge and the hill on the way back are steep. But it is so much worth your visit, I promise!!

While we got the tickets in advance online, I believe it would be easy to purchase them as you come in. The palace and the surrounding area with gardens, park, greenery and the ruins was beautiful. The palace itself was also gorgeous but a bit empty inside but understandably why as it’s less popular than the near by palaces. It was peaceful and quiet compared to other places. It is definitely worth visiting and is a hidden gem!

Absolutely stunning and peaceful. Monserrate is a true hidden gem in Sintra — much less crowded than Pena Palace, yet equally magical. The palace itself is beautifully restored, with intricate architecture and exotic details in every corner. The surrounding gardens are vast and diverse, with plants from all over the world, romantic paths, waterfalls, and hidden benches. You can easily spend hours wandering and soaking in the atmosphere. A perfect place for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a quiet, dreamy escape.

It’s a beautiful Palace with a garden. It’s the most detailed and impressive one. It’s small and less crowded than Pena Palace. I would recommend a visit if you want to avoid the big crowds from Pena Palace and if you are short on time, as you can visit this one in less than 50 minutes. There’s a cafeteria there if you want a quick bite. Parking can be difficult, so be prepared to arrive early. You can buy tickets on site, no need for advance tickets.

This place is pure magic! The gardens feel like a joyful journey across continents, each one bursting with color and character. The architecture is stunning - graceful, vibrant, and totally awe inspiring. It’s one of those spots that lifts your spirits and fills you with wonder. Honestly, it’s one of the happiest discoveries I’ve ever made, an absolute must visit!

Mystical surprises any way you turn in the park! Be ready to walk since it covers a huge area but it is worth seeing every corner of it. There is an online map of all the places you can visit as well as a complementary audio guide. There is a nice cafeteria as well for snacks and drinks. Be aware that the Palace and the Cafeteria close at 17:30 while the rest of the park close at 19:00. Going back to Sintra can be tricky with public transport since you have to buy two bus tickets and catch two separate public buses - so better share an Uber or see if any taxi drivers come by after closing of the park.
