Park Hyatt Guangzhou (Guangzhou, Guangdong Province) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Adjacent to the monumental opera house and dotted by poetic nature-inspired art pieces, this hotel positions itself as an upmarket design-led property. Guests feel right at home in the spacious rooms – connecting rooms are also available. The restaurant Living Room serves afternoon tea alongside a creative activity every day, such as embroidery or a photography demonstration." - Tablet Hotels

Of all the Hyatt properties I’ve visited, the Park Hyatt Guangzhou stands out as a masterclass in systemic failure. Staying here is an expensive lesson in frustration from start to finish. My ordeal began at the Chinese restaurant. Despite placing an early order for my dinner, the service was glacially slow. Simply getting a server’s attention was a Herculean task; I had to wave and call out for ages before anyone would even make eye contact. The food took forever, turning what should have been a pleasant meal into a test of patience. The low point came when a server knocked over and spilled my drink. The most infuriating part wasn't the accident itself, but the reaction: there was no apology. None. When I asked for a replacement bottle, the server initially refused and argued before reluctantly bringing a new one. The lack of basic accountability was staggering. Later, the restaurant manager offered a hollow "gesture of apology": a box of snacks I was to collect at checkout. Well, checkout arrived, and the receptionist had no idea what I was talking about. As I tried to explain the situation, the General Manager of the hotel was standing right there, in plain view. When I asked to speak with him, the receptionist began to hem and haw, looking nervously between us, likely assuming I couldn't understand English and trying to shield him. It was a blatant and insulting display of avoidance. After much insistence, the mythical "apology box" finally materialized. And in a final, perfect touch of ignominy, the contents had spilled all over the inside of the paper bag. It was messy, careless, and added insult to injury. This isn't just about one spilled drink or a slow meal. It's about a culture of apathy, where staff are untrained, unaccountable, and management is physically present yet completely inaccessible. Save your money. This hotel's one-star rating is generous. A truly abysmal experience.

I recently stayed at the Park Hyatt Guangzhou and had a truly outstanding experience. May at the front desk gave me one of the warmest welcomes I’ve ever received at a Hyatt. She was patient, professional, and took the time to explain the hotel’s amenities and share helpful tips about the neighborhood.||||I also had the pleasure of meeting Chef Hector Huo, whose breakfast buffet was exceptional each morning. The quality and variety of the food were so impressive that I ended up dining at the hotel for dinner as well. The pizza I had during dinner was exceptionally good—one of the best I’ve enjoyed at a hotel. This is also coming from a born and raised New Yorker. Must try!!!||||Thanks to May and Chef Huo, my stay was both comfortable and memorable. I would highly recommend Park Hyatt Guangzhou to anyone visiting the city, and I look forward to returning on future trips.

Good service and convenient location. Hotel was very nice with a nice view of Canton Towel at the Roof Top bar. Just one thing to improve, Coffee in the breakfast buffet could be better. Not hot at all, just lukewarm.

A great hotel with high priority on customer service, nothing is a problem. The Chinese restaurant has some of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The roof top bar has great view of Canton tower, the river and the entire city.

I had an overall pleasant stay, but the hotel falls well short of the standards associated with the Park Hyatt brand, which is why I’ve given a 3-star rating. On the positive side, the rooms are spacious, offer great views, and housekeeping is excellent. However, the beds and pillows weren't great and definitely worse than Four Seasons, MO and other Park Hyatt's I've stayed at. The most significant letdown was the service. Unfortunately, the staff’s English was abysmal, making communication difficult and awkward during nearly every interaction. Service felt largely reactive rather than proactive, and there was a general lack of the warm, attentive hospitality one would expect from a luxury property. It’s disappointing because the hotel itself is architecturally beautiful and has great potential. That said, I’m unlikely to return.

My family and I had high expectations for this hotel after a fantastic week-long stay at the Grand Hyatt Beijing, where the staff were warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, Park Hyatt Guangzhou ended up being the biggest disappointment I've had in over 25 years of staying at various Hyatt properties around the world.||||To start with the positives: the hotel is architecturally stunning. The rooms are modern and clean, and the view—especially of the Canton Tower at night from the bar—is absolutely breathtaking.||||However, the service did not match the high standards we’ve come to expect from the Hyatt brand. Throughout our four-day stay, very few staff acknowledged us in public areas. Many avoided eye contact entirely, which was both surprising and disappointing given the reputation and level of this property.||||The first major issue occurred when I approached the front desk to ask about the Wi-Fi. The staff member assisting me was typing continuously during the entire exchange and didn’t even look up. I found this to be quite rude. To her credit, she did eventually stop, apologized, and provided her card for future assistance — which I appreciated at the time.||||Later that day, I noticed the hair conditioner in our room hadn’t been refilled and was nearly empty. Mildly annoyed, I emailed the staff member from earlier, asking housekeeping to ensure it was replenished the next day. She responded promptly and kindly, assuring me it would be taken care of.||||However, the next morning—right in the middle of washing my daughter’s hair—I discovered the conditioner still hadn’t been replaced. Anyone with a child who has easily tangled hair will understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you’ve already flagged it and received a reply. This shouldn't happen at any Hyatt property, much less a Park Hyatt. We contacted the front desk, and while they were apologetic, it was too late—we had to rush out to our scheduled activities without resolving the issue.||||The rest of our stay was uneventful, but the overall experience had already been soured by then.||||In summary: while the property itself is beautiful, with updated rooms and incredible views, it doesn't make up for the lack of attentive service and an indifferent staff. If you’re looking for a relaxing and enjoyable family vacation in Guangzhou, I would recommend considering other luxury hotels in the area. There’s no shortage of excellent options with far better service.

I consider myself to be a self acclaimed Hyatt ambassador. But when it comes to Park Hyatt I expect way way more! Where do I begin…. I’m a frequenter to Guangzhou Canton Fair and over the years I’ve stayed at this property three times. They never fail to disappoint me. None of the staff speak proper English - if at all - and if you have a request.. they go out of the way to confuse the matter ! That especially includes the duty manger onsite. Then they try to pacify situation by waving a meal or drink bill totally realizing their mistake. However guests of this hotel do not come to get away with bills. We come for service! Furthermore the mattress and quilt are substandard. And I’m only comparing it to other Park Hyatt properties in China. Not amused

Not quite up to the usual Park Hyatt standards compared to other locations, but the hotel does feature a nice pool and a great rooftop bar. All the bath amenities are Le Labo branded, which is a nice touch. Overall, it’s a decent stay.
