Park Hyatt Ningbo Resort and Spa (Ningbo, Zhejiang Province) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Less than three hours’ drive from Shanghai is the mountain resort of Dong Qian Lake — call it Lake Tahoe to Shanghai’s San Francisco, or Lake Placid to Shanghai’s New York. Then again, it doesn’t really compare to those places, in one important respect: neither Lake Tahoe nor Lake Placid has anything like the Park Hyatt Ningbo Resort and Spa. In a few short years, this hotel has amassed a reputation as one of the best of the thirty-odd Park Hyatts; and this, need we remind you, is a group whose bad days are better than many hotel chains’ most successful efforts." - Tablet Hotels

Beautiful scenic location and aesthetic spacious facility. Upon arrival the doorman did not greet nor escort us so we had to carry our bags and find our way to the reception. The receptionist were friendly and were happy to oblige when we asked for restaurant recommendations in the city. However, upon check-in, once again we were left on our own accord to find our way to our room, caring our bags (no instructions on how to or guidance to our room). Being a resort, I was surprised when the life guard told me a swimming cap was needed in order to use the pool. This rule was made aware to me only after having entered the pool. A little heads up on the website or during check-in about swimming cap requirements would have been appreciated. Furthermore, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a steam sauna and jacuzzi in the men’s locker room, something which I do not remember seeing in the facility description online. Unfortunately, it felt like the general hygiene upkeep was not up to standard. For instance, despite being there at seven, first thing in the morning, the floor and showers had a lot of hair. I also decided to not use the men’s jacuzzi as there was visible scum/oil on the surface of the water. Breakfast was lovely with ample variety of western and Chinese foods. Not sure if my experience was as such due to it being an off-season. This place has potential.

I travel frequently for work and have stayed in many hotels, including other Hyatt properties. Unfortunately, this was one of my worst experiences to date. The problems started on my first night when I returned to my room after work around 2 AM and discovered I couldn't turn off the lights. I called the front desk, who came to check but couldn't fix it. A technician was brought in, but he couldn't solve it either. Eventually, I was moved to another room – from a king to a twin – which wasn't ideal, but at 3 AM, all I wanted was sleep before my 7 AM wake-up. In the morning, I tried to return to my original room, only to find there was no electricity at all. I had to get ready in the dark using my phone flashlight. The smart toilet didn’t work without power, and I couldn’t take a proper shower because there was no light. I had to go back and forth between the two rooms just to get ready. While I was out for work that day, they arranged a new room for me, supposedly an “upgrade.” However, this room was on the ground floor with no view and a small patch of grass instead of a terrace. The hotel continued to refer to this as an upgrade, which honestly felt more like an excuse than a gesture of goodwill. In terms of compensation, they later claimed I had received complimentary wine – which I did not – and gave me three slices of fruit on the last day. That was it. No offer to refund or discount the first night, which I would consider the bare minimum after such a poor experience. Eventually, I was offered a free taxi worth about €5. Not exactly proportionate to the inconvenience caused. Communication with the Hyatt concierge team afterwards was equally disappointing – generic responses and denials rather than any real accountability. To top it all off, I was charged a €1000 deposit at check-in, and I’m still waiting for it to be refunded more than two weeks later. On a positive note, the breakfast was delicious. However, in a 5-star hotel, I’d expect more staff to speak basic English – even ordering an espresso turned into a challenge. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel and will continue to stay with other hotel chains where I’ve consistently had better experiences. As a Platinum member at Intercontinental, I’ve never encountered issues like these.

I went here with my parents for a short family trip. Extremely well views at the resort and around it. We enjoy are the lake view suite, and the balcony was our favorite. The food was also delicious — definitely try out the Seafood House and Tea House. Not every good breakfast experience: too many people, too crowded, and too noisy. Overall, the hotel is good, but some staffs still need to improve their service mindset.

We were group of 14 family members, with booking of 8 rooms for 2 nights.|The check in and front desk crew were very young and definitely needs much more training. They cannot find our booking and not sure of rooms. A few of us arrived early and had the chance to sort out the mess before the rest arrived. The front desk manager Catherine, however was very efficient when she, finally took over our case. Catherine and her assistant also helped with booking restaurant in the city, called transport to go and return and helpful with good manners and attitude.|The doormen and their crew is helpful and friendly. It has nice touches like having a kind of local opera performance with main characters walking around to attract our attention to this show. There is also a small animal farm on the side where our little kids can go and find joy.|Our rooms were in the renovated wing and are nice. The toiletries are good brands, the new Toto toilets are superb, and the shower/rain shower are very comfortable and easy to control.|The bed, pillow and towels are very comfortable.|The breakfast buffet has ample choice and we liked the fresh juice bar with fruits and vegetable choices. There are western bakeries of reasonably good quality and the hot tofu in the bucket is very good. The traditional round baking oven on the balcony is a major plus since it delivers hot, fresh good, old fashioned roast bread (like Indian Naan, but Shanghai style)|The staff in this restaurant are willing and eager to help.|However, like at front desk, some staff needs much more training. The expresso came in regular coffee mugs and the hot milk/soya milk is always switched around without clear indication. |The exterior grounds are vast and perfectly manicured with stunning views of the water/lake.|A lot of potential to this Park Hyatt since its got great location. It is obvious that staff is a big problem here. |Hopefully, management can bring this hotel up a notch. Will return to experience the tea house and bar.

## Park Hyatt Nirvana: A Serene Jiangnan Dream by Dongqian Lake As our car wound along the lakeside road, the understated grey-tiled roofs and white walls of the Park Hyatt Ningbo came into view. This luxurious sanctuary, transformed from an ancient Jiangnan water village, seamlessly blends traditional architectural elegance with modern sophistication. Upon arrival, May, the Front Office Manager, greeted us with a warm smile that instantly melted away our travel fatigue. With professionalism and attention to detail, she introduced the hotel’s amenities and kindly recommended an upgrade to the Lakeside Suite—a decision that immersed us in a dreamlike Jiangnan experience far beyond our expectations. The Lakeside Suite framed Dongqian Lake like a living ink-wash painting. Each morning, we opened the floor-to-ceiling windows to mist-kissed waters resembling a classical scroll; by dusk, the lake shimmered in amber hues under the setting sun, dotted with distant sailboats. Inside, the suite masterfully balanced traditional Chinese aesthetics with contemporary comfort—exquisitely carved screens divided the tranquil living space, embroidered cushions complemented modern art pieces, and the freestanding bathtub by the window created the illusion of floating above the lake. The smart bedside control system, allowing us to adjust lighting and curtains with a touch, harmonized technology with timeless elegance. May’s service was nothing short of impeccable. Noticing our preference for quiet mornings, she proactively adjusted housekeeping schedules. When we expressed interest in local flavors, she not only recommended authentic Ningbo restaurants but also hand-drew a map of nearby attractions. These thoughtful, personalized touches transformed a routine stay into a heartfelt experience. At checkout, a carefully prepared gift and a handwritten note from May added the perfect sentimental farewell. Park Hyatt Ningbo redefines luxury through details—not in opulent extravagance, but in the artful fusion of cultural heritage, intuitive service, and refined design. Here, every corner whispers a Jiangnan tale, and every gesture carries genuine warmth. As Dongqian Lake’s waves continue to ripple, the memories woven by this retreat linger, promising our return to this lakeside haven. Also special thanks to Judy Dai and Brown Wang as well. 😊

A calm and luxurious place. My daughter had the chance to wear traditional Chinese clothing and take photos, which she absolutely loved. There are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. However, the reception staff seemed unaware of personal data protection. One staff member photocopied my two children’s passports and left them openly on the reception desk, where anyone in the hall could see their personal information. This is completely unacceptable.

What a catastrophe. If you want to have some rest, I urge you to avoid this hotel.||||I am a globalist Hyatt member and have seen Hotels across the globe. I have never seen such an unprofessional hotel - these people are severly damaging the brand of Hyatt.||||1. I checked in at 2100 on FRI evening. After nothing was done during the check-in, I was told that they forgot to do quality check of the room. Clearly, the hotel was empty and I had to ask for an alternative room||2. Coffee is not drinkable, it's water. Fortunately, there was a Nespresso machine which was working. I told this the staff. On the next day, I had to realize that they removed the Nepresso machine and replaced it with the not working coffee machine. Clearly, Chinese people are non coffee drinkers, but this is clearly a sign of treating the guests with cheapest available solution||3. My luggage was left unattended at the entrace for hours although I explictly ask for a safe storage as all my laptops and passport was inside. Every taxi driver or delivery guy could have taken it. When I complained, the staff started to lie and immediately put my luggage somewhere else.||4. World of Hyatt team didn't solve this properly. I was told that I will get "special treatment" next time I come to this hotel. LOL. Don't come here, you don't want to experience this cost saving and unprofessional hotel that doesn't understand or provide the basics of the bascis in this industry
