"With 28 guest rooms — some with original brick walls — the Park Plaza Hotel is the only place to stay on the city’s famed Park Avenue. There are balcony rooms and suites for people-watching." - Karen Cicero

Well..I suppose there’s 2 stories here. The location directly on Park is great. Step outside and you are in the middle of the quaint shopping area of Winter Park. The staff was nice, friendly. Not luxury trained, so don’t expect a refined level of service, but they were nice folks. Aside from that, the hotel is a disaster. Yes it’s “historic” and they have clearly kept allot of the historic ambiance, which is a cool concept idea, but it’s really just old. It’s very old and beat up. It’s in horrible condition and dirty. The bathroom was dirty with mold on the ceiling, the plumbing fixtures were nearly broken off the wall. The walls had holes and large cracks in the plaster. The lamp shade was cracked and damaged. The lamp fixture itself was broken. The headboard was not properly attached to the bed frame so it banged against the wall. The hotel room door didn’t stay closed unless you dead bolted the door because the door was misaligned to the frame. The wooden shades in the room were broken and didn’t stay up. The leather chair in the lobby was totally dried out and cracked. These are just some of the examples of this hotel neglecting the fundamental, general maintenance of the property. It’s a very lazy, cheap way to run a hotel. These are not things that just happen with the guest before us…these are worn-out, beat up things that demonstrate long term neglect. What it really needs a MEASURABLE renovation in MANY ways, keeping the nostalgia and mixing in modern luxury elements, but highly doubt that will ever happen. They have been coasting for many years without investing in simple updates and repairs. The other close hotel is The Alfond Inn. This hotel is absolutely STUNNING. Without question will stay here moving forward.

From the unprofessional man at the front desk; to the smallest, dimly lit, moldy bathroom; to the tiny computer monitor tv; to actually having cheap little earplugs to get you prepared for noise ( we were lucky, there was no noise that night) to the broken shutters etc. etc . The balcony and location were great though. Cannot recommend . There's a much better hotel down the block.

Personally love this hotel. Especially if you have children at Rollins. Being within walking distance of everything is fantastic and skips the needs for a car rental. There is one downside... trains. While Amtrak stops running consumer routes mid-afternoon, freight moves at all hours and it's noticeable. For me, it's worth the tradeoff. You also have to be aware and willing to accept the age of the hotel. The personality of the building itself is a plus for me, but if you like a modern setup, this may not be your choice.

Google
This hotel is a gem of a location and holds so much historical charm. Too bad the staff made our experience so negative! The valet was as rude as can be and deterred us from utilizing the service, however we were still charged by the hotel for parking (we did not park in their lot) and for a bottle of wine we did not even touch. The only staff member that was kind and informative was John. Highly suggest that the owners take out the trash and ensure better customer service! People shouldn’t have to worry that they will be charged for things they did not use!

This boutique hotel stay was wonderful and teeming with historic charm. Perfect location. Very attentive staff. Cheryl recommended an amazing place to have dinner. Pat was professional and courteous. We will be back.

Google
This hotel is nothing short of a dump! Do not be fooled by the upscale vicinity or local shopping. Even the local merchants made numerous negative comments to us about the poor condition of the property when we chatted with them. Our room, I mean our nightmare, experience was not worthy of mentioning our accommodations as a historical inn. It has been poorly maintained as evidenced by my introduction photo. I will leave this photo up under my landing page based upon what a train wreck the Park Plaza Hotel was for us. The list of disappointments were too long to mention but save yourself time, money, and aggravation by finding another hotel/lodge/VBRO. I have a laundry list of six additional photos that I will periodically update on my landing page to keep this disaster fresh in the minds of others.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite at the Park Plaza Hotel, and it was absolutely perfect! The suite was ideal for getting ready on the day of our wedding and for my husband and me to stay afterward. The hotel’s location was incredibly convenient, within walking distance of our venue at the Winter Park Farmers Market. Everything about our stay was wonderful, and we highly recommend it for any special occasion!

Google
These rooms were awesome. There are few outlets but this can easily be remedied by bringing the additional outlet accessory. I had read past review complaining about this problem and I brought the accessory that made the two outlet into a 6 outlet. We were good all week-end. The service was awesome.

Yelp
I'd like to thank the wonderful staff at the Park Plaza Hotel for their excellent service and extra care this past week. They had a full house, packed with hurricane Milton evacuees, their pets and loved ones. We felt safe, relieved and taken care of during an extremely stressful time. Lovely place, amazing town and fantastic employees. We will be back!

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Wonderful environment pet friendly hotel my sister would have loved this place. Front desk service was wonderful very attentive. You had great coffee and tea 24/7. Love the open door balcony made me feel like I was at a different time 50's maybe -streets were alive people walking dinning shopping just a great place to stay. I went with serious back issues but the bed the pillows were wonderful slept like a baby. The art one the floor sooo cute comic pictures like wonder women -Superman I think and the gas an elevator too very vintage-at the end I definitely enjoyed my stay.

Alexander R.

Yelp
This place is amazing if you like an old place with lots of charm it is the place for you. The town and location of this hotel is fantastic, shops and restaurants and bars right outside the door. The hotel doesn't offer much, just a clean room with coffee, tea and water in the lobby all day and night. Right next to the hotel is a beautiful park with some amazing lights. Christmas music being piped throughout the park. This place is really relaxing and charming.

Maura P.

Yelp
This hotel is charming and 102 years old. It is an excellent location, you can walk everywhere to great restaurants, wine bars and shopping. The staff is there at your service no matter what you needs are. Keep in mind it is 102 years old. The floors are a little crooked, the bathroom is tiny, the tub is extremely slippery. You will not find updated amenities by any means, yet the bed is extremely comfortable and it is quiet. Never once did we hear a train! The balcony needs a good scrubbing , although sitting out there with a glass of wine while it is raining is very pleasant. I actually miss being there. We highly recommend staying here.

J K.

Yelp
TRAINS RUNNING PAST YOUR ROOM ALL NIGHT LONG. Literally, the bell at the intersection is beneath this balcony. DO NOT stay on that side of the hotel.

Pamela R.

Yelp
The Hotel is so charming. The entire Staff that we encountered was 5 Stars. Extremely nice and so accommodating. Great location. We will definitely stay there again when we visit Winter Haven.

Yelp
Checked out at 1AM Due to Excessive Noise Our overnight stay started out nicely. The daytime staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is lovely. The free earplugs over on the wine "mini bar" should have clued me in. Later on in the evening , the loud music from the Bovine restaurant underneath our room started and never stopped. Between that, loud guests in the hallway and street noise, I ended up cramming those earplugs into my ears and drifted off to sleep. Woke up before 1am and the music from downstairs was STILL blaring. I tried to call down to the front desk but no one was answering. We decided then to pack up and go home. Never again! Pros: - friendly daytime staff - Beautiful historic property Cons: - extremely noisy - Unprofessional night staff not answering phone And

J R.

Yelp
Top notch hotel...amazing staff...super accommodating on every level... will definitely stay here again!

Michael P.

Yelp
I have stayed here for years, love the nostalgia, love the location. After staying here recently it will be my last time. Everything has gone downhill. Staff is sloppy, looks like they belong at a Hotel6. Everything is in need of a "refreshening" . I think the current owners inherited this gem and are just milking it for the money. I predict it will not survive long. Such a shame.

Yelp
Beware booking a standard room at the Park Plaza Hotel in Winter Park, Fl. Although the beds are comfortable, and the towels are impeccably clean, there are absolutely NO Amenities, not even a clock, and I had to ask for soap. There isn't enough lighting. There are only pegs in the dingy closet in which to hang your clothing and there are no hangers. You have to search for outlets in which to plug your devices. I've stayed there twice and it'll be the last time. If you're on the toilet your knees will bang up against the bathtub. There are no ice or vending machines of any kind. You have to ask for water. The place does have tremendous charm and the location can't be beat, but it needs a thorough cleaning and a few upgrades for the 21st century. Anne W.

Yelp
My wife thought it had "character". The place is filthy! Just gross and nasty! We had dead bugs on the night stands, on the lamp shades, in the tub and suspect hairs everywhere. F this place. Needs to be burned down to sanitize. Too bad cause the location is good. Oh, might I add, no parking. And we booked the "honeymoon suite". This place is not fit for working girls. And, the bathroom doesn't have a vent. And the A/C is pathetic. I mean, I just can't tear this place down enough with decent language. There are no superlatives strong enough to describe what a real dump this place is. Reminds me of "the dirtiest toilet in Scotland" from Trainspotting. Turns out you can only take a shower. The spout selector button is stuck in the upright position. And it's not a discount hotel by any stretch of the imagination. You get the idea. Avoid at all costs!!!

Louise H.

Yelp
Great location and the staff is professional and very nice. But that does not help the condition of the rooms. Internet is almost non-existent. The rooms are so old and lacking in basic accommodations and the bed was not comfortable it the location and staff can't overcome the basics. Put in a couple more tables, nightstands, and something to put items on instead of the floor. It wouldn't take that much to make the rooms acceptable. A good cleaning would help also. Price is TOOOOO much for the accommodations. Location can not help.

Brianne C.

Yelp
I truly never take the time to write a bad review because I always try to give grace, but this hotel is absolutely filthy. The carpet in the hallway has not been vacuumed in months. The floor in our room was sticky; it gave me college flashbacks to frat house floors. The bathrooms are atrocious; toilet seat is stained, cracked sink, tiles are filthy. There were leaves all throughout our room. The walls are paper thin. Upon arrival, they give you ear plugs- you can hear every step and every word of the people around you. We were here for a wedding and the people staying next to us had a squirrel in their room and another friend's shower head fell completely off. The hotel leaves a lot to be desired which is truly unfortunate because the location cannot be matched. It would be such a charming place to stay if they updated it and did a thorough and constant cleaning.

Ruth B.

Yelp
We pass through Winter Park to visit family. We found this hotel and so glad we did. It's old and charming. Our room was clean and the staff members were warm and welcoming. The location is ideal. We walked to dinner then enjoyed the rest of the evening on the terrace. The bed was comfortable and we did not notice any noise. We will definitely be back!

Wilbur B.

Yelp
My only gripe would be they could maybe step up their soaps game. Outside of that this place is completely perfect in every way, and it's been doing it's thing for 100 years (not making that up, it opened up in 1922). Rooms, staff, cleanliness and charm are all 10/10. The location is unmatched. Valet out front and forget about your car. You'll want to walk everywhere in this absolutely gorgeous throw back small town USA.

Edith N.

Yelp
This hotel was a disaster. My friend and I spent 3 nights so we really gave it a chance. The room was dark and the louvers didn't work to admit daylight. When I asked for another lamp I was told that management "likes it this way". The bathroom had only one small shelf (maybe 3 X15 inches), the paint was peeling and there is no grab bar in the tub/shower. We had requested 2 beds but were told that wasn't available but there was a sofa bed. However, when the sofa bed was open, there was only about 6 inches between it and the wall so it was difficult to get to the bathroom. I ended up closing the sofa bed and sleeping on a mattress from a cot on the floor in front of the sofa. I will never stay here again.

Miranda C.

Yelp
Ok so ... I loved this hotel - I'm a Brit originally so it reminded me of the faded hotels/b&bs from Europe complete with bahamas shutters, a cramped bathroom and creaky floors! If you stayed in a hotel like this in Paris you would be oh so happy. Somehow it feels like an anomaly in the US. Which should be good. And it was good for me. Really good. Yes tons of character. But if you want bright lights and a roomy bathroom and brand spanking new everything then go to a Hilton or whatever. Our roomy room had a balcony packed with character (wicker furniture and plants cascading). And then the modern touches - a mini split for cooling - brilliant - a fan with a remote control - a super comfy bed with fabulous white linens. Oh and a tray of really good wines! The manager couldn't have been more unpleasant. I didn't feel welcomed. On the contrary - he was rude and cursory. We asked for the wi-fi password and he threw down a sheet of paper. That password didn't work neither did the one in the hotel book in our room so we went down for help. He got annoyed and scribbled the (apparently new) password on a piece of paper. We couldn't get it to work no matter how we typed it. So we went back and he started shouting at us basically calling us stupid for getting it wrong. We shouted back that his writing was open to interpretation that it wasn't clear whether some of his letters were upper or lower case. He got so angry he threatened to throw us out of the hotel. We asked about his position and he shouted that he was the manager and the CEO and the chair of the Board. I have only had this experience once before - at a hotel in the UK. In the UK customer service isn't a thing so his behaviour made me wonder about his nationality. We were only there a night and ghosted the front desk for the rest of our stay. The location is brilliant - downtown Winter Park - the valet was super helpful and welcoming. He took care of our car and we happily walked everywhere.

Jax G.

Yelp
Overall, we enjoyed our trip to Winter Park. Our only regret is having booked this hotel. The room was filthy. Housekeeping must only do the bare minimum to give the appearance of a clean, comfortable room. Dirt, dust and debris all over the floors/corners of room. The bathroom had whiskers and hair on ledges around the sink and the floor was dirty. Had we noticed this when dropping off our bags before heading out for the afternoon/evening, I would have asked to be moved or to check out. I had read somewhere, perhaps on a 3rd party site as I can't find it on their site right now, that the hotel was non-smoking but that's apparently not the case. No signs anywhere that I could see and unfortunately, a chain smoker prevented us from using the balcony that evening and the next morning as much as we would have liked. The continental breakfast was nice and the staff we encountered throughout our stay were very friendly. I did make note to the staff upon checkout that the room needed a deep cleaning and followed up with an email to which I never got a response. I didn't expect/ask for credit, it just would have been nice if they had acknowledged. The room was $260 with tax. $26 or $260, there is no excuse for the condition of the room.

Susan E.

Yelp
I wish I had read Yelp! before booking. This hotel was beyond disappointing. At one time, I'm sure it was beautiful. But now, it's just run down and filthy. The person checking us in couldn't be bothered to stand up and greet us. It was just a gruff "Name?!" as we approached the counter. We got up to the room and were shocked. There were stains on the wall beneath the AC. The table between the chairs was missing. The chair cushion was flipped (back zippered edge was showing) due to stains. The decorative, supposed to be white, pillow in the bed really needed a wash. The rugs were matted and my feet were dirty after walking in there barefoot. The furniture was beat up and chipped. The bed was super uncomfortable...very stiff. And, if you're a light sleeper you'll want to use the earplugs as you can hear EVERYTHING outside including the constant chirping of car door locks beginning around 7am. This place could really be something very special with some TLC. Definitely not worth the $350+ I paid. So sad.

Wendy G.

Yelp
My friend and I went for a couple day getaway and stayed at the Park Plaza Hotel. What a wonderful place! Pia made us feel so welcome and offered so many ideas and places for us to do and see. The room was spacious and had a balcony that overlooks Park Avenue. It felt like were in a European hotel! We enjoyed the continental breakfast and the water bottles in the lobby. We absolutely loved our stay!

Martine K.

Yelp
It might be a bit pricey but the location is awesome. We arrived late afternoon on a Sunday afternoon with the Coronavirus in full swing. There is valet parking at the door and the kid who is valet and bellboy couldn't be nicer. The room was small and cozy and bathroom was very tiny and when sitting on the toilet your knees could touch the tub. They appear to be doing some renovations .They provide ear plugs which kind of made me nervous and the railroad track is not very far. But we were only starting one night so I figured we could survive. The bed was comfortable and the train really wasn't bad The creaking floor was louder and the toilet flush was intense. Shower pressure was good and we really did enjoy our stay. In the morning you call down for your coffee or tea, juice, and warm croissants which are brought up to your room soon after. The staff is very caring and I would stay here again.

Trish U.

Yelp
Service, location, comfort. Love this little gem of a hotel. Staff are great. Unique hotel. History. It's like staying in a museum. Love that all the restaurants and boutiques are right outside. Don't need a car. Very romantic hotel. Breakfast is included! close to Universal Studios and down town Orlando

jeffrey g.

Yelp
Overpriced, no frills, and dirty! $220 a night for very little. Sheets were dirty, with big yellow stains on bottom sheet and a small bloodstain on top sheet. GROSS I slept on top of the covers fully dressed. Tiny computer monitor for a TV, no mini-fridge, no frills. Inexplicable Big step up into the bathroom, stubbed my toe in the night so hard it bled. Trains going by multiple times in the middle of the night - REALLY LOUD Barely slept and couldn't wait to check out. Convenient location but that's it!

Dianna B.

Yelp
Beautiful place to visit, not sure I could actually stay a night. A friend of mine was the one staying, and he shared with me a look into his sleeping quarters. This hotel is quaint, vintage and well.. OLD. The floors creak, the walls are thin, the wood is dark and the hallways are narrow. The stair case is grand and that elevator is to die for. His room was 217, an adjoining room to which we could hear the conversation in the next room and are sure his neighbors could hear us, which amuses me. The bed was comfortable, there was only one chair so one of us had to sit there. The bathroom had a small step down into which caused us to trip if we went into it. The TV provided was the size of a computer monitor, and the AC, though you were given a controller for it, didn't go below 75* which made the room unconfortably humid. A very active train line runs behind the hotel, and from 10:30 to 3:00 am stops on the hour and blows its horn, making it not conducive to sleeping well. All in all, a pretty place, friendly team, but I'm not sure that I could sleep there.

James M.

Yelp
Nice place for the price. Quaint rooms with comfortable beds. Bathrooms nice white and clean but only small shelf to put your stuff . Room has A/c and small flat screen tv. Cool place to be for a single or couple .

R F.

Yelp
Loved this historic boutique hotel. Stayed for 2 nights while in town for a wedding. We had a front balcony suite. Room 200. It was a huge room with a 4 poster king bed, sitting area and balcony looking over Park Ave. Yes the wood floors creek. Yes the bathrooms are tiny. Yes the furniture dated. Yes you hear the train and street noise..... But what a charming place! Bed was VERY comfortable, staff very friendly and location can't be beat. You are right on Park Ave with shopping, dining and the pretty green park. Once we got there we never used our car until it was time to leave. If you are staying in Winter Park and want a non cookie cutter place to stay rich with history and charm, this is the place.

Erica F.

Yelp
This hotel would be a dream for anyone who enjoys quaint bed and breakfasts, historic architecture and old timey customer service. I absolutely loved staying here! The staff was wonderful from the moment I checked in! I arrived earlier than check in time and they immediately took and stored my bags, offered me hot coffee and called me when my room was ready. Once I returned to get into my room a lovely gentleman was there to carry my bags to my room, show me how the AC worked and where/when to get my breakfast. The other reviews do point out the only downside (in my opinion)- the train! It is very loud and seems to come often. I'm a heavy sleeper so it wouldn't deter me from staying here but I could see how it would keep others away. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel! The bed was comfy, the aesthetics were beautiful and it was perfectly convenient for my trip. The hand delivered tray of coffee in the morning was the cherry on top!

Brooke B.

Yelp
Friendly & helpful front desk. Jackie helped me "check" my luggage and went above and beyond. Thank you Park Plaza!

Mark M.

Yelp
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!! I wish I had read the reviews before booking here. The staff is super nice and the location is great. Other than that, I can't believe this place is still in business. No hot water, broken AC and paper-thin walls were the start of it. Then, the trains started coming. It's hard to describe just how loud it is. The room would shake and rattle as if you were in an earthquake. But the horn. Once it gets late and dark, the train horn kicks in. Think rock concert level volume. I thought the trains would stop running but they kept coming every 15-20 mins straight through to about 3am. Overall, I'd put this in one of the two worst hotel experiences I've ever had.

Dan O.

Yelp
I always read the reviews before writing one, and I am frequently amazed at some of them. The Park Plaza reviews are no exception. First, let me say, that I loved this place! Yes, it's quirky, has actual keys instead of key cards, tiny little bathrooms, and small TV's, but so what! I don't believe the guy who said in his review that the maintenance guy said the AC in his room had been broken for a week and everyone knew. I think he made that up! I stayed here 5 nights and had an excellent experience. Everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - was friendly. You walk down the hall, pass a member of the housekeeping staff, and get a smile and a polite greeting. The desk staff was great, the man who seemed to be the jack-of-all-trades was nice. Everyone stopped, answered questions, made suggestions, and helped any way they could. I would stay here in a heartbeat over one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. My only complaint was with some of the other guests who thought 1:30 on a Sunday morning was a good time to carry on a loud discussion in the hallway, then, when asked by hotel staff to keep it down because people are sleeping, ignore them and continue for more than 10 minutes! Pick your own 4-letter adjective. A great place with excellent people. One of my few 5-star reviews.

John C.

Yelp
Great old world hotel. Felt like I stepped back into Orlando in the 1950s. Big comfortable bed in a large room. Breakfast served on the veranda outside your room. Convenient to restaurants and bars. Friendly staff. Parking on the street.

T G.

Yelp
Fortunately, I never got to stay at this location. When calling to inquire about rates an availability for a corporate room block, I was told by Pia Brenan that they did not have a specific sales person and they weren't interested to which he then hung up the phone. I called back twice to which I was repeatedly hung up on and when I finally got through the 3rd time, I asked to speak to the manager in which Pia replied he was the General Manager and he stated they weren't interested and again, hung up the phone. At this point, I didn't even give details on what I was looking for and at that point I wouldn't want to do business with this location. For someone to repeatedly turn down an inquiry for business in January of a new year, & consistently hang up on a prospective client.. I'm very disappointed in how I was treated. If this is the type of person that handles any type of event for this location I'd run, far in the opposite direction. After reading all of the other yelp reviews, I'm even more glad to not even having to consider this location. good riddance.

Lynn C.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location downtown Winter Park. Unfortunately I had a few bad experiences during my stay and had to keep calling the hotel back after I checked out to resolve an overcharge issue. I did not use the $15/day valet and they charged me $30 for the 2 nights I stayed. Be prepared to hear the train going by the hotel. A hotel employee woke me up very early by knocking on my door to deliver breakfast I had not ordered. (they had wrong room). I was packing up to check out and the maid walked in my room with the do not disturb sign on my door. No refrigerators in the rooms. The toilet was very close to the bathtub, very uncomfortable. I told the front desk about the staff issues and was told the general manager would call me back. 3 days later, no phone call. I had to call them again to request my $30 valet credit and finally reached the manager. I understand it is an old hotel and has its quirks, but unfortunately I would not recommend staying here due to the chain of issues that I experienced.

Yelp
DO NOT Waste your time nor your money on this hotel. After a lovely day at Disney World for my husband's and I anniversary, we felt like the Park Plaza Hotel would be perfectly located spot to spend the rest of the week/weekend in Orlando. Boy were we wrong. For starters, the hotel was extremely loud. I understand that the hotel is a small and old boutique hotel, but the noise levels were just ridiculously out of control. Especially In the early mornings when the maids would be outside having conversations as loudly as possible and slamming doors. Not only that, but when I checked out of the hotel I never received a receipt. And furthermore, after checking my banking app a couple of days later, I found that I was hit with an inexcusable amount of charges to my bank account. Not once was I notified about the charges. Luckily I just so happened to look at my bank app to find out. Which in turn I called the hotel and the charges did not match up with the charges I had on my bank statement . When I called the hotel I found out that they wanted to charge me for damages to my room which I found pretty offensive being that only my husband and I stayed there and would never do such a thing. When asked why I wasn't notified of these charges and why they were applied to my account, they said that they did not have an email address to notify me which they had never asked me for from the beginning. My first response was you may not have an email, but you certainly have a phone number only to find that this person of course had no response after that point because it was entirely true. Now after our wonderful anniversary in Orlando, we are having to file disputes and are being inconvenienced and extremely frustrated for being falsely accused of and stolen from all due to their negligence. If this is not the type of stay you're looking for, I highly encourage you to check the next hotel because Park Plaza Hotel truly and obviously does not care about their customers. Oh yeah, and beware of the loud trains that drive by at two and three in the morning that they fail to tell you about.

Michelle C.

Yelp
This hotel is wonderful! If you are into "vintage things", looks and esthetics, you will love this Hotel. So the floors are a bit creaky... but that is part of the experience! Beautiful hotel with a perfect location within Winter Park City, just walking distance from the Central Park, the Train Station, several parks and gardens, a golf course, respectable amount of shops and their well known Farmer's Market. Rooms range from $150- 319 a night, which I feel it's fair considering the location and service. Staff is very accommodating and eager to make your stay as pleasant as it can be. Honestly, I can understand how this hotel isn't for everybody... if you are expecting the "European Vintage look" without the "vintage experience", look elsewhere. But if you want to live the experience of what a Hotel used to look and sound like in the 1920's (Established in 1922), you will see the Park Plaza Hotel for what it is and all its charm... A gorgeous gem in the middle of Winter Park and walking distance from the oldest and one of the most elegant colleges in Florida, Rollin's College.

Yelp
Nice place to visit. You just can't sleep there! While location is superb for access to Winter Park shops, its close proximity to RR crossing (100 ft) combined with paper thin walls and doors which allows your neighbors conversations, bathroom and sleeping habits invade your space brings one whole experience down quite a few levels. The 3 trains passing by each night after 10:00 till 3:00am, make it impossible to enjoy a good nights sleep in this quaint hotel. Staff is friendly and service top notch. Will not recommend friends or family to stay there while visiting if they want a goods nights sleep.

Susan R.

Yelp
The Park Plaza is a story in opposites. The hotel itself is right out of a novel - sweet little lobby right off the main drag in Winter Park. The staff could not be nicer. The hotel itself, however, is incredibly loud. The floors creak incessantly. The walls are thin enough to hear your neighbor not snoozing their alarm. The trains come regularly and are right out side the park side of the building. The room itself could use some love and what was sold as a queen bed was absolutely a double. All that said, it's a good value in Winter Park with lovely attentive staff.

Yelp
Literally the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The mattress was worse than sleeping on the floor. The train was so loud even ear plugs would not block the sound. The only redeeming feature was the croissant delivered in the morning, but that was hardly worth how expensive this hotel was. I could not be more serious when I say DO NOT STAY HERE!

Yelp
If you like rustic, shabby-chic the décor will please you. Queen bed room is very tiny and the bathroom equally so. Desktop is cluttered with upsales for bottles of wine and no shelf space in the bathroom. Bring earplugs as the walls are very thin and a train runs right alongside the location throughout the night, blaring it's horn at 1 a.m., 3:30 am., 5:30 a.m. Complimentary breakfast was nice but didn't make up for a poor night's sleep. Creaky floors let you know when someone is walking by and door security is provided with two dead bolts. Overall would not recommend.

Yelp
I would select a 0 if I could. My wife and I checked into our room and figured out within short order (about 30 mins) that the air conditioning was broken. When we advised the front desk they argued with us until the maintenance man walked by and said that it had been broken for some time and everyone knew it. When i asked for our money back the woman at the desk first refused and then said she would do so and we left. Later discovered that we were charged anyway although we didn't stay there. When i disputed the charge the hotel still didn't refund my money. Stay away. Dirty poorly maintained and overpriced hotel with rude staff. This used to be a quaint friendly hotel but that was long ago.

Yelp
I really like this hotel. I have stayed here numerous times and have always had a pleasant experience. As many of the other reviews have stated, there is a train station across the street, but it really isn't that big of a deal. They have ear plugs in each room if it really bothers you. There are so many one of kind restaurant and bars all along park ave, and this hotel is perfect to stay the night close by. The staff is very friendly. They offer free WiFi and free bottled water all day long. And complimentary breakfast delivered to your room each morning. On my most recent stay, the staff had extra rooms so they upgraded us to a balcony room which we could over look park avenue on the floral balcony and it was a cute scenery and super relaxing to have our breakfast out on. The rooms are tiny but quaint. The elevator is super old school and really fun to ride at least once while you're there. It will give you titanic vibes. The only reason I'm knocking one star off, is because the beds are pretty firm and are not my favorite....but this place is really more about the experience.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Park Plaza Hotel 30 years ago and came back for our 30th anniversary (October 15, 2021). What a mistake!!!!! The bathroom was totally unexceptable. The bathtub had hair in it and scub around the tub. The area behind the toilet lid was dirty and had hair around it too. We could not get the tv to work so we called for assistance. Someone came immediately and told us the cable box which was hanging behind the tv needed to be on the top ledge of the tv. He placed it there, but it would not stay because the velcro was sooo old. We also told that person about the bathroom, but no one called to ask about the problem. The complimentary bottles of water were never to be found. The balcony area was cute but you could not see the street for the unmanicured hanging ferns. We called down at 7 for the complimentary coffee, orange juice, and croissants and it delivered immediately. The croissants were nice and warm but, the coffee was lukewarm. When we checked out the person at the front desk did not ask how our stay was but processed our credit card. $300 for the night but valet parking and taxes. PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE until they upgrade and take pride in what they do. Next anniversary the Four Seasons or Ritz!!!!

Yelp
I'm just in the final leg of my first significant travel experience since the start of Covid, the bulk of which I spent in Winter Park staying at the Park Plaza. Yes, the place is not without its quirks, but the incredible staff and the obvious love and focus that is being put into the guest experience far out-wayed any minor inconvenience I experienced. Yes, the door handles and locks need to be replaced; yes it did kinda suck that there were no refrigerators inside the room; and yes, not having a working in-room phone to call down to the desk was a bit annoying, BUT, the overall experience staying there is so unique and so fun/pleasant - and the bedding is so comfortable - that being there actually changed my opinion on Florida in general for the better (I hate humidity and my last few work-related trips to the area had me staying in other hotels and the experiences were awful). Really - the place has heart, the owners clearly want us guests to have a great experience, and the location is amazing. Additionally, everyone I encountered also went out of their way to make my dog feel like he had a new home in Winter Park. If you're looking for a modern hotel with modern facilities, this isn't that. But if you want to understand what true customer service in a beautiful and charming old-world hotel with heart feels like, I can't recommend this place enough. Oh, and if you do go for a stay, do have their coffee and croissant breakfast offering in the morning. It's amazing how lovely they make such a simple first meal and eating down in the sitting area in the lobby is a really cool experience. I can't wait to come back...

Yelp
This hotel is the worst place I have ever stayed!! It deserves the one star for the room service coffee in Am . We were told we had the last DELUXE room with a balcony but instead ended up in a tiny room with a full size bed and a tiny window overlooking the rail yard. The door would not lock without jiggling for 30 minutes. The train noise was atrocious, they come at 1:22am, 2:22am , 6:11am , 6:22 am 6:45am and 7: 05 am with full blowing of horns and bells each time. Sleep is not an option at this hotel, not sure what we paid for and feel like we should be paid for enduring the night here. The TV is smaller than my computer monitor. The bed had some nice pillows but was so small and tight we couldn't move. Save your money especially if a good night sleep and some relaxation is what your paying for!

Yelp
This hotel is rustic and simple and the location on the avenue is so convenient. The room we had was overlooking 310 and the rest of the avenue. We had no problems with noise even though the train station isn't too far away and the chatter of the restaurants are right beneath us. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The room we had was large and spacious and clean. There was a separate area for lounging and it was enormous for two people. There was no refrigerator or microwave, however, like most hotels I've been to but we were only staying for one night that I didn't mind. Lovely hotel. I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
Super cute hotel in a fabulous location! The hotel itself is outdated (which is what gives it its charm). The staff is super helpful and friendly. The room itself is smaller than average but very comfortable. The only issue... the walls are paper thin; so, when your neighbors are up at 0600 you are too. There are these out door balcony's that overlook the park and street but there is no real division between neighbors.

Yelp
I've been visiting Winter Park for over 20 years now and I always stay at the Park Plaza. that being said....it never fails to leave me wanting for more. The location can't be beat: Near the main park; near Rollins College; near a bunch of really, really good restaurants and shopping. What's the deal with the Park Plaza you ask?? It's a great study in "Management Training" as they say. The hotel is a little bit funky with : -Spotty wifi -dusty bunnies in your room -clueless front desk folks -bathrooms that were once closets - hit and miss parking situation On my most recent visit, the a/c was malfunctioning and the front desk person knew nothing about how to fix it; there was no maintenance person on call. The alarm clock was "blinking" 12:00 the whole time I was there. Right now there are no other options in Winter Park but I hear Rollins College is putting up a hotel and that may be my new favorite place. Stay tuned.

Yelp
I'm glad I didn't read the reviews posted here before staying at this hotel. Fortunately, the Park Plaza was recommended to me by a friend who stays here pretty regularly while in the Orlando area on business. We found it to be charming, comfortable and extremely well located on Park Avenue seconds away from great dining and shopping. The night we arrived, there was complementary wine served in the lobby, friendly staff at the desk and a valet to take care of our car (Park Avenue is popular, so parking can be a problem - but we had no worries over that). I'm told that all the rooms are different. Ours had a comfortable queen sized bed with a sitting area/sofa and a balcony overlooking the street. They must have special glass in the windows because when they were closed, we couldn't hear any noise from the street. The antique furnishings and the fabrics reminded me of inns we stayed in on a driving trip through England. Luxurious bed linens and towels. Yes, the bathroom was a little small, but it had everything we needed. (Had we wanted a huge bathroom and modern furniture like some of the reviewers here expected, we would have booked at a chain). In the morning they brought us coffee and muffins which we enjoyed at the table outside on our balcony. We will stay there again, and have recommend it to friends.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVED staying at Park Plaza Hotel! Just steps away from the bustling shopping and dining-packed Park Avenue and chock full of charm. Gorgeous rooms with antique furniture, coupled with modern day musts. Comfortable bed, tiny yet cute bathroom, nice closet space and the best balcony to sip your wine or coffee on. The staff was amazing: Very friendly and accommodating. Each time we called for something at the front desk we had our request met within minutes. The morning breakfast (complimentary) was wonderful: Fresh muffins, fresh squeezed oj, delicious coffee and flowers were all brought to my room so that I could enjoy them all while on the balcony. Things you must be okay with while staying here: The sound of the train. It didn't bother me a bit, but it you will hear it. Farmer's markets. The best in the area is right behind the property. Late night chatter from the scores of folks enjoying evening Avenue strolls.(It's truly in the center of all the action) Creaky floors. Yes, this gem has been around for a while! Smiles. Yes, you will be greeted and re-greeted with a bunch of them by the staff during your stay. I will be coming back, even if I have family that lives around the block. It was that nice!
