Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam

Just had an excellent stay at the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam. My stay was cut short due to an epic snow storm which delayed my arrival by two days. However, the hotel were understanding and adjusted my guaranteed reservation without penalty. My top floor canal-facing room was well appointed, with modern fixtures, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Service from staff I encountered was courteous and professional. A shout out to front desk agent Morena who dealt efficiently with the changes to my reservation. I had dinner once at the hotel's restaurant Carstens Steakhouse and it was excellent, as was the daily breakfast buffet served there. The property's prime location cannot be beat if you're wanting go be near Amsterdam Centraal station and the historic Amsterdam Centrum area with the major sights and museums, which are within walking distance or a short streetcar ride away. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to return. Highly recommended!

Upon check-in, the receptionist was initially unaware that we had already paid for early check-in. After we explained, she rechecked the system and clarified the situation. Despite the initial confusion, she was thoughtful and proactive, she helped arrange an early checkout solution and made sure we still received our breakfast, which we truly appreciated. Our stay was decent at first, and we slept well until new guests checked into the room next to ours. Unfortunately, the soundproofing between rooms is poor. We were awakened by continuous noise from 12:00 AM until 2:55 AM. The hotel manager handled the situation professionally and promptly and helped us transition to a new room the following morning. We were genuinely impressed by how efficiently and respectfully this was managed. We were moved from a third-floor room to a first-floor room. The new room that we were switched into came with new challenges. The first-floor room was extremely noisy, making it unsuitable for light sleepers. Street parties, pedestrians, loud music, and trains passing every 10 minutes could all be heard clearly. Even with the windows fully shut, the noise was unavoidable. In addition, the refrigerator in the new room was empty, and the window door was broken, which further affected our comfort. I believe noise-sensitive guests should not be relocated to first-floor rooms, especially when maintenance issues are also present. The breakfast staff were professional and welcoming, greeting us each morning with smiles. Aside from soggy arugula and green salad, the rest of the breakfast items were fresh and well presented. The pool area was generally clean, but there were concerns with the evening cleaning staff (around 5–7 PM). One staff member played loud music from her cellphone while cleaning the wet floors, which felt unprofessional and disrupted the peaceful environment. On a Monday 9am shift, another pink braided hair lady cleaner stood out due to careless cleaning practices by the pool steps, such as casually wiping stair walls with a rug. I also observed her talking on the phone in the bathroom for an extended period, which did not reflect professional conduct while on duty. Overall, the front desk staff and hotel manager truly deserve 5 stars or more for their responsiveness, professionalism, and care. I would like to give 5 stars to the front desk staff and hotel management for their outstanding professionalism, especially in emergency management. They acted promptly with complaints and requests, and their communication throughout our stay was impressive. One important reminder for future guests: always check out in person with the receptionist and review your room service bill carefully. An item was added to our bill that we did not use during our stay. If we had checked out on our own without reviewing the charges with staff, we would have ended up paying for something we didn’t use or even know about. While other aspects of the stay need improvement, these issues are correctable. With better room assignments for noise-sensitive guests, improved soundproofing, and stricter oversight of maintenance and staff conduct in shared areas, this hotel has strong potential to deliver a more consistent and enjoyable guest experience.

Excellent location. Spacious room, loved the canal view from the room. Super friendly staff! Concierge were all helpful and knowledgeable! Mussi & Sander patiently helped us decide on right activities and explained us the public transport to use. 10/10 stay overall for all our 5 nights! Will definitely be booking again whenever we find ourselves in Amsterdam!

We had a fantastic stay at the Park Plaza in Amsterdam and couldn’t fault it from start to finish. From the moment you walk in, you’re made to feel like a VIP. The hotel itself is beautiful, spotlessly clean, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and finished to a high standard. It’s clear a lot of pride is taken in the place. What really sets this hotel apart is the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, but a special mention has to go to David at the front desk. He went above and beyond for us, taking the time to talk through the best options for getting around, sharing personal experiences, and making sure we got the most out of our stay. That kind of service makes a real difference. If you’re looking for a hotel where you’re treated properly, looked after, and can relax knowing everything’s taken care of, this is the one. We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

The staff was amazing here! The front desk, the luggage desk, the bartendars and the house keeping staff all get 10 out of 10 stars. Rooms were a bit dated but clean and nice with the bathroom well stocked and very nice! Location was fabulous! Simple to get to anywhere! Easy to get to the airport on the train!

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a weekend getaway. I will say that it is very conveniently located near the central train station - easy to get to and from airport. The hotel is also just at the edge of where it starts to get very busy. This makes everything simple to walk to or to grab a tram to other parts of the city. It is very nicely decorated and the staff were also very helpful. I will say that getting to your room may be of a bit of an adventure the first few times - up and elevator to get to other building through a hall to go up another elevator. The room was very spacious (suite), but the view was non-existent. The chairs were strangely uncomfortable, but the beds were great. The breakfast was perfect, with a lot of selection and crispy bacon (a rare find hahaha). As for the cost, you can easily pay the same amount in some nearby spots and get way less. We did not use the pool or spa. I forgot to take pics of the room. My apologies. Thanks for a great stay.

This our second time in this hotel. We love everything about it, especially the perfect location, right in front of Amsterdam central station, with all the transportation. It close to everything, the Dam square and so much more. The breakfast is excellent, large variety of choices and very delicious. Highly recommended. We will return again.

The location couldn’t be better, with everything just a short walk away. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well equipped with everything you could need. The staff were exceptionally attentive and helpful, we spoke to Robert and Ihssan who made check-in seamless.

This hotel was a difficult place to endure. Considering the intense heat outside, I wanted a cool room and my A/C was NOT working. It was constant on and off. I felt like I was fighting with my A/C. The location is probably in the busiest area in Amsterdam. My room view was of an alley. Nothing special. The hotel needs to be updated. The walls in my room had scratches and dents and the tables had dents as well. I wasn't the biggest fan of the service either. I requested room service and I would get back to the hotel at around 5 and they still hadn't cleaned my room. I was frustrated. 5 days here was not worth the price, even though it's a pretty good location for public transportation.

This review is for Vics Bar located inside the Park Plaza--- Cozy hotel bar located in the Park Plaza Hotel all the Bar Staff are know their trade serving various cocktail and drinks, food is also available. We stopped in most days Coffee and Pie in the mornings and a nightcap before bed. They have a wealth of knowledge about the area so if you're looking for anything they can usually point you in the right direction. This review is for Carstens, the restaurant inside the Hotel--- Breakfast is served every morning 7-11am, it's served buffet style with a limited omelette/ egg station. All the standard breakfast food is here but it can get really busy if the Viking Cruise ship has an early departure time that morning --- all in all not a bad breakfast only criticism somedays it was barely warm. At night you can order a sit down meal, we did decide to try it one night but was extremely disappointed, the meal was OK but the service was really bad,

Stayed here multiple times. Location is hard to beat as it's central to everything in the city and across the street from the train station. Vic's bar and Carsten's inside are good options if you are staying there but reservations are highly recommended for Carstens and Vic's has very limited seating with lounge type chairs that could be difficult to eat at for some. The food was better then expected, pricier then other local places (most hotel restaurants are) but a great option if not feeling like walking any more.

This is a beautiful hotel so close to the train station, where you can get both trams and trains. I couldn't have been happier with the location. It is very busy in the area though. Checkin with easy and I was able to get early check in which I appreciated. I loved my canal view, but there were wires (?) on the windows, so it was a bit obstructed. There was a little noise, but not too much. The chair in my room was full of crumbs which was so gross and it wasn't cleaned the whole time I was there. The concierge, Chadid, was so friendly and helpful with information. They also let me store one of my bags there for a few days for free which I appreciated. I also enjoyed the food at Vic's bar, but the service could be incredibly slow there.

Clean and sophisticated, but I did not appreciate our Uber driver dropping us off at the corner of the street because couldn't or was not allowed to the front. It was pouring rain and we had just gotten off the cruise ship dragging our luggages across the street, over train tracks in the rain. The hotel guest services and concierge helped us as we were fussing getting through the doors. They probably felt bad for us lol, a few wet people running from the rain. They were very attentive and patient with our needs. We arrived super early, so no rooms were available to us, so they stored our luggage and had asked us to return at 11 to check on the rooms. We went and explored the city in the crack of dawn AND it was still raining. We made the most of it and came back around 11 hoping our room was ready....and it was! It was a ways to get to our room since they have a few buildings attached. Nonetheless, we have a place to rest and unload our feet! The room was clean and neat, our view wasn't great but at least it wasn't a parking structure lol. The location of this hotel was perfect, central to a lot of major sightseeing spots, near Chinatown, the Red Light District. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Really a 3.5 star experience: The location is great and the lobby is dark and gorgeous. The staff also fantastic. However, our room was in the adjacent building, and we had to take an elevator up one level from the main building then cross over a small sky bridge and take another elevator to floor 4. Kind of a pain since we were exhausted from our train ride and just wanted to get to our room quickly. Plan an extra 4-5 minutes after you walk into the hotel to get to your room. It definitely became a bit annoying. We stayed in room 467. The room didn't feel that comfortable. The bed was very low to the ground and I kept tripping over the sheets in the walkway as the room is kind of cramped and the sheets after being maid up still hang on the floor. The bed was one of the least comfortable out of every hotel bed I slept on this month. Our room was located facing a quiet back street. Not much of a view either. The bathroom was decent. It did have a frosted glass door. The staff were all very friendly. They helped me with my bags up the stairs immediately when I walked into the hotel which I really appreciated. I like that they have complementary umbrellas that we could use since it rained a lot while there. There was 2 incidents that weren't great. One was there was a bit of a mess with the checkout/checkin process with my extended stay. I added a night to the beginning checkin date about a week before my check in. Somehow, that was confusing to them. I ended up being locked out my room, and spending around 35 minutes at the front desk for them to sort it out and grant me access back into my same room. Annoying! The other issue was with the restaurant bar and room service. One day after running around I got soaked in the rain before getting back to the hotel. I went to the bar to order a hot chocolate before going up to our room. The restaurant staff asked if I was going to take it to my room? I said yes. He then instructed me to just to my room and order it through room service so they can deliver it there so I won't have to carry it. I was thinking he was trying to help me with service so I obliged and went to my room and called to order on my room's phone. About 10 minutes later I get a knock on my door with a bill to sign for $12. I reacted and told the guy "wow, that's the most expensive cup of chocolate I've ever had?!" He replied well it's because it cost an additional $8 for us to bring it up to your room." I was livid... I literally was just standing in the bar and ordered the hot chocolate to bring myself to my room. And on top of that the hot chocolate delivered to me wasn't even hot. I did talk to a manager a day later and thankfully the manager was apologetic and refunded me for the hot chocolate. Overall, the hotel is not too bad but it's just not great. If this hotel meets your requirements, book it. I'm confident it's not the worst hotel experience out here. But next time, I'd try another hotel just to see if I could have a nicer room and overall better hotel experience.

The Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is a boutique hotel located directly across from Central Station in the heart of beautiful Amsterdam. The location is central and close to all modes of transportation. At Central Station you can get a train to anywhere in Europe or a tram to anywhere in Amsterdam. The location does come at a slight price - it is a busy area. If you want to be in the middle of it all, this is the place to be. The hotel staff go out of their way to welcome you, starting at the door with an offer of assistance with luggage and extending all the way to the check in desks. Mara was especially helpful. Everyone is not only helpful but genuinely seems happy working there. My only complaint is the 5 stairs at the entrance that make it a bit difficult if you have heavy luggage. That can be solved by taking their assistance as previously mentioned or by using their lift, which is more for guests in a wheelchair. The hotel lobby styling is warm and chic with a dark contemporary feel. There is a beautiful glass elevator to take guests to the bridge to the main building where there are more lifts to take you to your room. There is a very nice lobby restaurant near the glass elevators. The rooms are typical size for Europe, not large but not small either. They continue the styling of the lobby and seem very modern. There is a well-stocked mini-bar and Nespresso coffee station. I was on the top floor (Floor 7) and had a stunning view directly in front of me of Central Station and the beautiful main canal. The bed linens were good, not great and the pillows left a little to be desired in terms of the feather ones. They were a bit lumpy, but with some adjusting I made them work. The bathroom was brightly lit. My room had a shower only, which I prefer. The water pressure was strong, which made for a really nice shower. It was spring when I visited (April 2024). European hotels are notoriously bad for room climate control in the spring and fall. I tend to run hot. This hotel had one of the best climate controls of the many hotels I have stayed in over the years all over Europe. The air conditioning was ice cold, so cold, in fact that I had to turn it up a notch. It was awesome. The location, staff, the room, the view, and the amazing air conditioning are why I am going to rate this hotel 5 stars. It is well worth considering if you are going to be visiting Amsterdam.

My wife and I stayed here for one night while we waited to take the Viking River Cruise the next night. After an overnight flight and arriving at 0900 hours to the hotel, they allowed us to check in earlier than our scheduled 1100 hours which we secured a week earlier. The hotel is located directly across from the busy train station and the canal cruise launch. Easily accessible to everything Amsterdam has to offer. The hotel is charming, old, and with lots of history. Our room was on the second floor and it faced the train station. We could easily hear the trollies, buses, and the hustle and bustle of the street. We did not care since we were exhausted and it was for only one night. Our room was clean, updated, and everything worked to perfection. Since we arrived so early, we decided to have the buffet breakfast that was offered by the hotel. We were disappointed with it. After we boarded the River Cruise, we realized we had left our passports in the safe located in the room. No worries because we had a few hours still. We secured our passports with no issues or concerns from the staff. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and courteous. The location is perfect but we would have preferred a quieter room. The price was competitive for the area.

This place could be a gem if run correctly. We waited for our room for hours. While check in time is clearly listed as 3:00 pm, I expected to get a room a bit earlier considering my flight arrived at 7:30 am. We finally got into a room by 2:00pm. Other than that I have no complaints about this property. It is directly across from the Amsterdam Central Station and within a short walk from anything you would want to do. If you want to go elsewhere you just need to get on a train, tram, or bus to get there. The view out of the room is outstanding. The place is completely updated with pretty cool features including led lights that are controlled via control boxes next to each side of the bed as well as by the door. A good place to spend a few days.

I stayed here once while on a visit to Amsterdam. The lobby and the outside look very nice. The location is also top notch. The hotel is located literally right across the street from Central Station which is the reason I chose it. However, the rooms are just so so. The place is pretty old and it showed in the furniture and carpets. It is also a bit pricier than nearby hotels.

Stayed at the Park Plaza Victoria after a bad experience at another nearby hotel. Their lobby and common spaces feel Luxe and updated. Upon checking in, the staff went above and beyond making me feel at home while they found available rooms as I had no reservations. They even showed me the room before I checked in to make sure it was suitable (wary of my last hotel experience). Yes, the room was small, but it had high ceilings, was newly updated and very clean. It also had nice views of Amsterdam Central station! Best of all were the hotel amenities, the hotel restaurant/bar was very nice and the hotel had a great fitness center and even a small indoor pool and steam room! Also great, the hotel is very close to Amsterdam Central so you can take the train from the airport and go directly to this hotel without having to catch an uber or lug your bags very far. Would definitely stay here on my next visit to AMS!

It's got the best location of any business hotel in the Centrum. It belongs to a good points program. However, I just don't find it as good as the other business hotels nearby. I initially came here because of advertising that led me to believe I'd get free Internet. Oops. It was still cheaper than the competition, but not enough to stay here. When you're out of town several weeks in a row every month, it's nice to have CNN and a couple other English stations. the Victoria is more European and has less English stations. My thought is that if you want a locals place, there are better ones. If you are American and looking for a familiar business hotel, you can do better. The rooms in the new section are nicer than the ones in the old section.

If I could give this location zero stars I would. I would like to first thank Peter and Mariangela, the two employees whose last name I left out due to privacy concerns. Who treat you like a criminal when you complain. Making excuses for their own behavior and also sitting you down with security behind them so that you feel intimidated when speaking. (Mariangela used the excuse that she was female and needed security to accompany her) Onto the property and service: Called the night before my arrival to speak with a rude arrogant insulting man named Arthur who treated me like a total idiot, spelling his name out slowly for me and hanging up on me after cussing at me on the phone, because I told Him I would not put up with being put into a dirty outdated room and Would like to pay for an upgrade. He got prideful, defended his hotel, and cussed me out before ending the phone call. Upon arrival I examined this hotel was: Outdated, old, disgusting, full of spiders, not Better than your average Motel 6 in California. The rooms were cracked and the carpet was stained. Everything about it smelled of vomit. The bathroom had hair in it that was not mine, as well as pee in the I flushed toilet. Value: at almost 400 dollars USD A NIGHT! Absolutely garbage. Used "media congress" as an excuse to jack up the rates. Booked through Priceline and here's a horror story for you. First room I was shown had dirty stains everywhere and the curtains opened up to a view of a naked old man across the way. Second room, was a room they tried to upsell me on, after my initial complaints about the staff and service and quality, this 25 euro a night upgrade should have been absolutely free of charge, but no, they charged me. Next, upon moving into the upgraded room, I realized it indeed has a balcony, so I got excited and cracked it open. To my dismay they fail to mention the disgusting net that blocks your view, which is to stop robbers from breaking into the place properly. The balcony itself? I uploaded photos under my check in and tip that shows you multiple spider nests which allowed me to be bitten left and right by spiders all night in my upgraded "modern" room. I asked staff upon arrival to have an upgraded room in the "urban wing" They lied to me twice, showed me rooms in the Victoria wing, and expected me to not find out. Now, as I sit in the urban wing, I want to mention that it's just as disgusting as the Victoria wing. The rooms are outdated and have staining everywhere. This is a true 1-2 star hotel that charges 5 star prices. AVOID AVOID AVOID! These Photos are to show you the low quality rooms, for the extreme price. This property needs to be torn down and rebuilt and all the staff replaced immediately. These people make excuses for the arrogant rude , "we have no fault " behavior that they display towards their customers. They show up to your door with security if you complain, they talk over you and essentially smirk at you when you are complaining about the service standards, the quality of the room, the cleanliness of the room, the temperature that housekeeping sets on your room, and much more. These people are truly a little crazy if they think I won't complain about this at a rate of 390 euros a night (congress was in town but it doesn't excuse their astronomical rates, for the lowest quality service one can imagine) The staff is just generally very defensive and arrogant and I cannot state how bad that is when you pay these prices! They must know they are a low rates property and just given up hope on improving. Location is good, but extremely noisy and dirty. Food is miserably awful, just as the hotel is. Generally, I would give this place two stars if it wasn't for the staff just constantly making excuses, And when you want to get in your two cents, they shut you up, because if you do not shut up, they will tell you they are done hearing out your complaint and they leave. Leaving you alone, angry with your hotel, with your entire day ruined. Please let's not let people get ripped off by staying here! I will be disputing 50% of the cost of this hotel to reflect the quality I got. This is a 120 dollar a night hotel at most. Not a 420 dollar a night hotel. Remember, the price should always match the quality, and in this case, The quality is about the same as a motel 6 with room service that will probably cause you to get a disease. I disputed the amount charged to the credit card by 75% because I felt it was fair in consideration that they did in fact house me for a few nights even though it was deplorable conditions. I am 73 and was traveling with heavy luggage.  To get to the room this hotel gave me I had to take one elevator, walk down a hall, walk across a bridge between two buildings, take a second elevator, walk down a short hall and then walk down a hall that was longer than an airline concourse to finally get to my room which was at the extreme other end of a building next door to where I checked in.  I don't look my age, but they do check your passport when you check in so the information was available to them if they cared to look.  When it comes to staying here, in a word.....DON'T!

The service at this hotel was terrific. Upon my arrival, they upgraded us to executive suite and I used hotels.nl. It was one of my best hotel experiences in my entire Netherlands trip. we had a wonderful corner view of the city and we had a great view of the cathedral and canal, as well as the Centraal Station which was conveniently across the canal from us! The interior of the hotel is very modern and luxurious. I wish I could have spent more time in the hotel itself haha. I love how this hotel is one of the first buildings you see when you exit the train station and it's in post cards all the time!

The Park Plaza Victoria in Amsterdam is really centrally located, basically across the street from the central station. The locations is both great and poor at the same time, the fact that it is smack in the middle of town means that while the location is easy to get to and from there is also a lot of things going on around the hotel and being Amsterdam that means people standing at the entrance to the hotel trying to sell a variety of things and some shady characters hanging around. Check-in was surprisingly slow seeing that there was no line but the hotel seemed fairly empty when I was there so the staff somewhat relaxed. I did receive a nice upgrade so cannot comment on the standard rooms. Weird layout of hotel as one either has to take two elevators or walk up some stairs and then take an elevator. Did not bother me that much but felt like a waste of time. The room I was upgraded to was actually two rooms, one with sofa, tv and desk and then the bed room. I guess this was some type of junior suite and to be that it was not the best. The room was spacious but a bit dull. The desk had, as many for some reason do, a lack of power outlets, had to unplug the lamp to be able to charge phone and computer at the same time. Room was otherwise fine, comfortable bed and comfortable chair to slack in. Disappointing selection of English language TV channels but starting to get used to that when traveling in Europe (UK and Ireland excluded of course). Not sure what they are thinking when putting Nespresso machines and not water kettles in the room. I know a lot of people like Nespresso (personally I find it horrendous) but why replace the water kettle with it. If one wants to have tea (or like in my case make other coffee) the water does not get nearly hot enough in the Nespresso machine. Bathroom was fine but surprised that such a room does not have both shower and tub. Amenities fine but not escellent. All in all a decent choice, they do what I expect them to but does not surprise or deliver well enough to deserve more than three stars.

This is a terrible, terrible hotel. I visited it in late December, 2016, spending two nights. I paid for a what was described as a large suite, and then paid extra for what was supposedly an even more lavish suite. The service at the hotel was surly and dishonest. My cab driver from the Amsterdam airport informed me that he could take me back to the airport any time for 25 Euros, flat. At the hotel's reception desk, however, they told me -- taking me for an ignorant, inexperienced tourist -- that they could arrange a taxi to the same airport for me for 45 Euros. In other words, they'd mark up the same fare, pocketing 20 Euros for themselves. That sort of scalping -- bleeding me for money while providing nothing in return -- characterized my entire stay at this foul, nightmarish hotel. The "lavish" suite I paid extra for was as poorly soundproofed as a cardboard box in the middle of a Kloveniersburgwal would have been -- but that box would have been warmer and more comfortable. Whenever the neighbors either next door to me -- or even across the hall from me -- closed their doors, the double door to my "suite" would rattle as if about to collapse from their hinges and amplify the sound. It was like having percussionists slam timpani drums and crash cymbals on either side of my head every ten minutes. It made rest impossible. When I checked out, no one at front desk asked me how my stay was. For these unprofessional clowns, deliberate ignorance is, understandably, the prime objective. I received an email link to a social media site, along with an invitation to write a positive review for the hotel. This was an intermediated link, however; the hotel staff was able to confirm that the review was positive before re-posting it on my behalf. When they determined that the review was NOT positive, they deleted it. I then received a huffy, patronizing email from a hotel employee, Marieke H., whining to me about the "tone" of my review. Let me explain something, Marieke: When you make false promises to people, when you defraud international tourists, they will be annoyed. And if they have any spirit left after being punished by their degrading stay at your miserable hotel, they will want to express themselves. If you don't like the way your victims express themselves, then stop making new victims. This hotel apparently exists solely based upon its location -- near the train station, near the red light district, etc. -- and based upon a constant flow of neophytes to Amsterdam. Don't let if fool you; don't blindly trust these "people" -- you will pay for it. Take the time to look carefully for a reasonably priced, competently run hotel. They do exist; this isn't the only option. In fact, it really should not be an option AT ALL.

It's my second night in a row here. First night I was happy with the wait service. Second night, still happy. The food is really good (a mix of American & Dutch) and spacious. Open kitchen. Glass ceiling to see the sky. I recommend.

I met a friend here for a drink in the dining area. To be honest I was very surprise how nice it was inside, since it's centered in one of the most occupied parts of Amsterdam. Normally if you are in the center of the tourist area the hotels and restaurants are not so ideal. However, once you step inside the Park Plaza Victoria hotel, it provides a charming, calm, and relaxing feeling, despite the bustling traffic outside. I am not impress with the location because it's in the heart of the tourist district but if your a visitor, then it maybe ideal for you. But that is if you want to be surrounded by convenience, main attractions, plenty of activities and a large traffic of people. Park Plaza Victoria is probably one of the top hotels, despite of it's assiduous location. It's about a five minute walk from the central station, which is the main station for traveling in and outside of Amsterdam. Plus if your main reason for coming to Amsterdam is for the Red Light District, which is known in Dutch as Rosse Burt, then your close proximity of right where you want to be. Although, Amsterdam has so much more to offer then just a misleading representation of Sodom and Gomorrah. Amsterdam is an amazing and beautiful city! So, please try to take advantage of all the miraculous things that it has to offer.

I am sooo lucky that this hotel is the first European hotel I experienced: because it is veryyyyy nice. With that said, it was a little culture shock based on the size of the room, how low the bed was, and the strange bathroom setup. The shower doesn't have an actual door or curtain but just a little glass barrier so you have to be careful not to let any water out. The location of the hotel was perfect; right across of Amsterdam Centraal, and a five minute walk to the Red Light District. We ate at the restaurant once which was super delicious and had no problems during our stay.

Love this place. the shower was amazing!!! i know. i visit Amsterdam and, above all things, i love the shower. they have a sauna, an indoor pool and steam room. all of which I did not see, b/c it was closed for renovations :-( but they said it would be open in time for spring. the place is very convenient to the train and many restos and places of interest: anne frankhuis, red light district, etc. the staff was very helpful and i loved that they had a very nice resto inside of the hotel. and free wifi...kinda slow though.

The Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam hotel is one of the iconic buildings as you exit Centraal Sation. Located right next to the Thomas Cook and the Heineken buildings, the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam sits almost at the gateway to the Red Light District. The Park Plaza Amsterdam is easy to spot, just look for the planters in the revolving door that sits at the entrance of the hotel. The lobby is clean and fairly updated, but is sort of small. The check-in desk is to the left, and was very fast and efficient. As you enter the room, there is a small entry way with a closet. To enter the "bedroom", there is a small step down that could be somewhat hazardous if drunk, or intoxicated in some other manner. The king room is very small, and the bed takes up almost the entire space. Oddly, there is a small desk right near the bed. To the right is the bathroom, which is rather small. There is a small sink, with a shower/tub combo. Near the foot of the bed, there is a small sitting area with a dresser and TV sitting close by. The rooms are somewhat tired looking and are in need of renovation, but with the its great location, I don't see much money going into improvements until absolutely necessary Rooms were ~$350 a night when I stayed there, but thanks to the Club Carlson "Big Night Giveaway", I was able to book this room with 50,000 Club Carlson points. Don't buy into the fancy facade of this place. We stayed here for 6 nights and every one of those nights I wished I was staying somewhere else. We had our do not disturb sign on for3 days and in the 3rd day we let the maid in. I came back and the room was clean and she left extra towels as I had requested. I then put my do not disturb sign back on my door and left for dinner. While I was gone for dinner they snuck back into my room and found a joint in the window sill (remind you this is Amsterdam). Upon returning from dinner they locked me out of my room. I went to the front desk and was told security needed to talk to me. The manager and security guy took me into a room and told me I had to pay 300€ for smoking in my room. They tried to tell me they went into my room because the do not disturb sign had been on for 4 days (I checked in on Saturday and this was Tuesday and the maid had already been in my room). They then escorted me back to the room to "show me the evidence". I felt like a criminal and totally violated. Watch out because this is how they make ALOT of extra money for their crappy hotel. We had over 75 rooms booked for this hotel for over a week while we were there to work. We came back from work on multiple nights at 12:58pm and went to the bar to get a much needed drink and the bar manager turned us away saying the bar closed at 1am. Overpriced Dirty small rooms Weird orange lighting in the bathroom which makes applying makeup impossible. They have 1 tall concierge (I wish I could remember his name) who was AMAZING! He was the only nice thing about this place. Too bad because I was really excited to stay here.

I stayed here on a work trip just last week. Location wise, you couldn't get better. You are right by centraal station (which is a 20 min train ride, 4 euros worth, from the airport). You're also situated on the corner of the Damrak, which is 5 minutes walk to Dam Square and all the pubs/bars. You're close to all of the touristy stuff, so in that respect it's pretty good. The hotel has a bit of a "higgildy piggildy" (is that even how you spell it?) feel. Lots of stairs, lots of carpets, everything is a bit mismatched, but I definitely don't mind that. The room was ok, not much of a view (but you aren't paying for a view in this property, you're paying for location). I would love for this hotel to get the room (or at least the bathrooms) better lit, so a poor lady like moi can do her makeup without then going outside and realising I have a face like a tangerine. Also, get rid of the naff black wall paint. Bearing in mind this isn't a boutique hotel, it'd be much better off with nice bright white paint to lighten up the rooms. Bit of interior decorating advice there Park Plaza. Reception staff were very busy (maybe a little understaffed?) but they were cheery and helpful. Those were my minor gripes, but I would say for the price, and bearing in mind it has a pool and gym, this is a good option for business and leisure travellers to Amsterdam.

Beautiful room and situated in the heart of Amsterdam, great staff who couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. I would recommend the Park Plaza Amsterdam to anyone and will be staying here when I next visit.

Stayed here for a week while looking around in Amsterdam. +great location near central station. +staff was wonderful +our queen superior room had US plugs +mini bar was nice if I was up late +bar at the lobby of the hotel was nice too +shower and bath were a nice size -noise from the street is a bit loud if you are in a room facing it -laundry service not available on Sundays, wasn't aware of this, though it may be true for many hotels here Overall I'd definitely book it again!

The hotel is in a great location !!!!!!!!! It is very clean and tidy with great facilities. The room has everything I would except for the price and more. Also on a personal note I generally find hotel beds uncomfortable and don't afford me a good nights sleep but not in this hotel.

This is a great centrally located hotel Staff generally nice Breakfast was good and great range food Food and drink nice and did like Kate night cocktail at bar There was a couple of negatives There seemed to be a few stags and hens parties that where very loud at night and a few times knocking on wrong door banging etc Smell of hash in corridor not sure if it was from just bags of it or people smoking but it was bad But I did like the hotel a lot and would recommend it!

Absolutely the most overpriced lousy place I have stayed in years. First room the air conditioning did not work . Moved to the other side of hotel and every time I turned out the lights my cpap turned off as turning out the lights cut the electricity to the room. This seemed to mystify the staff.

Scam alert. I changed my reservation to a day shorter and confirmed the change when I checked in. When I went to check out they acted like they had no idea about the change and refused to correct it. I'll be disputing with credit card when I get home. Also the TV didn't work and they didn't fix it in the entire 4 day stay. Staff was rude from the start. Will never stay here again.

Home of Red Light district - Amsterdam! Located in the heart of city centre, opposite Central Station and just 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport., Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam was one of the finest hotels in Amsterdam. It was our vacationing spot for the weekend getaway and walking everywhere around the city with streets of C shape, that local say we would never get lost in the night hours. Locals shared their smiles everywhere, telling us they are happiest living here; make me wonder if they are 'high'? LOL Breakfast with pickled Herring sandwich and a bottle Heineken, made our perfect day to begin around the city. Cheap and tasty, our tummies were in joy! Jam-packed with bikes all over, our hotel was in the center of all the chaos, with flower market, shopping, businesses, and easy access to some of the best local attractions, including the Anne Frank House, where we visit the home where Anne and her family hide from the German. Heineken beer gave us a preview into the history and bottling process of a brewery. This beer seem to be quite popular with the Vietnamese as this is preference of beer when ask! We also went on Amsterdam's Famous Canals tour often referred to as the 'Venice of the North' because there are so many bridges and canals, 1500 bridges. Holy cow! We can't ignore the famous red light district which is called "De'Wallen". De'wallen is the largest and well known tourist attraction. Walking through the alleys, looking at these tiny, behind a glass window with illuminated red lights where female prostitutes who offer their services. It was fashionable lingerie window shopping, but instead of mannequin, its real people posing. Of course it's not Amsterdam without a big number of coffee shops that sell marijuana. People walking around are paranoid in the street especially in the daylight. Many travelers visit here to party on Thursday until Sunday, drawing 20- to 30- something crowd. As guests of the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam, we went on a tour, courtesy pick-up service from Gassan Diamond factory; we started with a guided factory tour. We saw how diamonds being crafted through all stages. Then taken to the showroom after locked door, we saw so much diamonds in different sizes and qualities. I learned about my 4 C's (carat, color, cut and clarity) and it was a treasured experience.

The location of the hotel is great. However, do not purchase the "iconic view" rooms as they overlook a construction site. Overpriced for what you get. Bed is fair, at best, and low to the floor. Room very small. Had to transfer elevators every time going to room. I thought this was an old hotel but it's new with an old front to one side. I do not recommend and would not stay here again. Much better hotels. Don't get played, like me. Way overpriced.

Changed my room because it wasn't ready and gave me a room that had no view and two single beds instead of the superior queen room I paid for.

I honestly thought from looking at the pictures that this place would be really nice, a proper high-class hotel. The reception staff were super nice, but not anything else. The place is humongous so it's difficult to find your way, the rooms were old and a bit shabby, and the housekeeping were horrible. I stayed two nights and the second day I didn't get any replacements of shampoo etc in the bathroom, and then I found a bag trash next to my suitcase! I told the staff and they didn't charge me for the laundry which made me feel better, but I'm definitely not coming back to this hotel after this experience.

Came here with wife on euro trip Stayed for 2 weekday nights. This hotel is very conveniently located next to centraal station amsterdam. Centraal station is the largest terminal that connects all the buses, trams, and rail lines in Amsterdam. The hotel is also centrally located next to the main attractions and neighborhoods - red light district is a few blocks away, touristy museums and shops are around the corner, and dam square and other popular restaurants and such are seriously near by. The hotel amenities and accommodations are not good though. The hotel was doing renovations and work promptly started at 9am for both days we were there. Imagine hammering and lots of noise beginning at 9am.... The bed was awful, the mattress wasn't even a mattress at all, it felt like blankets just rolled up together. And the worst part is, everything in my room looked and felt dirty. After I took a quick rinse and jumped into bed after a long day, I was itching all over... The pictures on their site is nothing like our room. The room felt old and dingy even though it had very high ceilings. I asked for a better bed, and they said all their rooms had the same beds....also, we had to ask for an extra blanket and toiletries multiple times, because when they cleaned our room, they didn't leave any soap or shampoo. Additionally, they out on a "new" roll of toilet paper that had like a foot of toilet paper left.... Definitely would not stay at again considering amsterdam is very accessible by walking or public transit to much better hotels all around the city center.

I was really impressed with this hotel. I booked a trip package via Travelocity and saw upon my arrival that there were upgrades available. I inquired and they were willing to negotiate with me a bit based on the length f my stay (five nights). The price was really reasonable for the upgrade and it meant the difference between waiting 6 hours to check in or being able to check in immediately, so all said and done (and time being money) it was well worth the extra to negotiate with them. Once we were in the upgraded suite, it was amazingly spacious, well appointed and had an absolutely stunning view of Centraal station (we were in a Victoria suite). I'd expected cramped quarters and not to spend any time in the hotel room, but I actually found it exceptional by European standards. The location is in my opinion; pretty perfect. Opposite Centraal station and in very walkable distance (blocks) to Dam Square and the Red Light District as well as being close to Nieuwmarkt and the Singel. I know that price and value are based on supply and demand, but the staff was so willing to work with upgrading me, that I have to give them a great deal of credit. They were friendly and accommodating in the way that we hope for in such a place. My only word of warning is that they auto bill breakfast and you have to request that they remove it if you haven't used it before you settle the bill (this may have been oversight on my part), but they were willing to do so with a smile. Most hotels in Amsterdam make me happier renting a furnished apartment, but this place really was wonderful.

Couldn't ask for a better location. Right by the train station and all the touristy attractions. The breakfast was great too! Lots of fun little bars nearby and the red light district is only a couple minutes walk away. The only complaint was that the rooms were quite dark. Some more lights would have made this a 5 star review.

Beautiful hotel, right in the center of everything. Right on top of Central Station within walking distance to every hot spot in the city. Huge clean rooms, great service, too.

Great location although some rooms are really noisy being so close to the train station and large public areas. Small room. Great buffet breakfast though. I would stay there again but would be picky about the room location.

Nothing to complain about. Perfect location, they upgraded me to a suite (for no apparent reason), and affordable.

We held a conference at this hotel recently. It is a great location and easy to find. You MUST get in to the new wing of the hotel, the old wing is musty and the rooms smell, carpet is dirty and walls are marked. Not very impressive. We booked rooms for guests in the new wing and the hotel staff put the guests in the old wing (very embarrassing for us as the host of an annual event). I would not recommend this hotel for a business meeting but would stay here again on personal travel with the understanding that I was being booked in the new wing. They did have a very nice breakfast buffet and exercise facilities (top of the line and roomy).

The interior is very old. I had a king size bed basic room and it is extremely small. The bathroom is so small you can't even brush your teeth without hitting the wall with your elbow. The location is good, but not worth the price it is asking for. Feels like a 2 star hotel.

I am staying at this hotel right now. Needless to say, it is going downhill quickly. Used to be great service here. Friendly bartenders, check in staff. Checked in this time and seemed like a bother, no welcome at all. The location is great, but they need to do something with the Victorian wing. The bathroom is so small, you can't even effectively do anything in it. The bathroom this trip smelled like sewer gas and almost made me wretch. I went to the front desk and asked to be moved. Was told they couldn't move me because they are overbooked. Hello, United Airlines in Amsterdam :). Here, have some free drink coupons and go away. Gee Thanks. So now I have to go to the bathroom and use the bathroom with a towel over my mouth and quickly get into the shower to try and cut the smell. Have stuffed towels around the door to keep the smell out of the bedroom. Shouldn't be this way for $200 Euros a night. I will check out other hotels in the area on my next trip. Got 3 stars only because it USED to be great.

This is a good place to stay. Great location, nice interior, generally good service. My only complaint is that the prices for the bar and restaurant (and especially breakfast) seemed high. The restaurant food was good, but not exceptional.
