13 Beautiful Winter Road Trips Around the United States

"On the 33-mile Covered Bridge Circuit around Parke County, historic 19th-century covered bridges crossing icy rivers and snow-blanketed meadows create a picturesque winter loop — the route showcases eight bridges in about an hour and a half and is especially photogenic after a snowfall. Parke County is known as the 'Covered Bridge Capital of the World' and the circuit highlights structures such as the McAllister Covered Bridge (built in 1914), the Bridgeton Covered Bridge, and the Roseville Covered Bridge (the longest of the eight)." - Skye Sherman Skye Sherman Skye Sherman is a travel writer based in West Palm Beach, Florida. Had a nice little getaway to the covered bridge festival. Plenty of shopping throughout the area and the food was absolutely delicious. Lots of different foods cooked over campfires had the entire Town Square smelling amazing. Be prepared to take it easy as the place is very congested with vehicles and people out having a good time.

Great time! Tons of very unique items. There are some booths that you will find at fairs, so I stayed away from those. Rockville had lots of booths but was lots of stores that are there all of the time. If going for the bridges, I suggest getting a map. Cannot make it through in one day. Lots of inns and there are some air B&Bs in the area. Parking ranges from $2-$7 and must pay at each location. Most places accept cash only, there are ATMs but charge a larger fee than getting beforehand. Great experience and the fall trees were exceptional. If you love antiques, beautiful scenery, and shopping this will be your cup of tea.

I love this fair. First time last year of going to the fair, a lastlast-minute decision that I will never regret. Pleasantly surprised to see many options for art not only physically, but mentally pleasing. I would recommend this fair to anybody and everybody that wants to just have fun and meet new people.

Enjoy going to this every year, I am only 20 but have been at least 10 times that I can remember. There's always the most diverse amount of stuff in one place and it's a pretty historic place at that. Between the yard sales, vendors, and home made products, one of my favorite mini vacations to take every year in October.

Excellent place to see some beautiful covered bridges! Some of them are down gravel roads, some not. They all have interesting history, too. Fall is the best time because of the foliage, but it can get a bit busy during Fall.

Very disappointed in the outrageous prices of everything. I would not recommend buying the cinnamon pancake mix it has no flavor. Nor the stone ground grits.

We enjoyed for the first time the covered bridge festival . We stopped at the park county museum stop for public restroom use and also to get a map for the trip. We came for the covered bridges and left seeing all 31 on the map and accomplished this is 2 days .

I've gone to this festival for over 40 years, highlights of the year. However, if you're really into hand made original work, go to Bridgeton and Rockville. The flea market in Mansfield is HUGE, but repetitive.
