Amazing hotel. Historic landmark. Actually we discovered it is the one where Sherlock Holmes stayed during the story "The last Problem". Super well located in the center of the village. Breakfast is amazing. Rooms are good. It has a really nice atmosphere and feels like you are back in the Belle epoque! Nice decoration and very friendly staff.

We stayed here for two nights whilst trekking the Via Alpina route. We were very pleasantly surprised at the level of accommodation, our room was large and airy, well furnished with the most comfortable bed and, unusually, tea and coffee making facilities. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful and breakfast was plentiful and varied, taken in a very grand dining room. The hotel is a beautifully preserved example of the old fin de siecle hotels once inhabited by the well to do of europe. Many interesting artefacts and pictures. We weren't able to eat evening meal here as the hotel only caters for large groups but that wasn't a problem as there are plenty of restaurants in Meiringen. Well worth a stay and close to the Sherlock Holmes museum which is also well worth a visit.

Nice hotel with very frendly People. Nice food and big room. I like the style of the building very much. The breakfast was great and our room was cleaned every day. In the basement there are possibilitys to dry your ski's and shoes. There is also a nice Irish pub.

We had one night here en route to the south, but would like to come back and explore the area further. We thought that the room rate and breakfast were excellent value, particularly for Switzerland. The hotel has been well maintained to a good 4 star level (it's a 5 star review, but for a 4 star hotel). Nice, old fashioned decor (1890s Belle Epoque meets 1980s), lovely people at reception, a grand room for the restaurant (not used) and for breakfast) and very comfortable beds. We will return!

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the train station. Check-in is at 4, and you can store your luggage at the hotel if you decide to go out exploring. ||The bed and pillows are fine, not great. The hallways on the 4th floor reminded me of the brothels you see in movies — everything a deep red. ||The room was somewhat worn. ||The breakfast buffet was very nice.

The mattress in very strong and not comfortable at all, the receptionist is always away its a real struggle. The room service is very bad as the dont clean the room as necessary and dont restock the items like water, shampoo and toothpaste.

When we booked a room in Meiringen, we did not know that The Hotel Sauvage, is listed on the Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance. The price was a bit higher than we usually pay but overall affordable compared to other options in Meiringen. The hotel itself looks very classical and representative from outside. Some elements inside the hotel look like in a museum of Victorian time. However, our room was pretty modern and spacious. Bed is big with many pillows, arm chair is comfy. We had a nice balcony with a pretty view on the yard, where kids can play on the trimmed lawn. You can have dinner in this garden outside. The breakfast was rich, various options are available, coffee is excellent. All COVID-19 precautions have been taken care of. If you need any info about Meiringen, attractions or surrounding area, you can find plenty of info and brochures at the reception. |Unfortunately, you can only check in at 4 p.m, even if they have free rooms earlier. It is better to fill an online form when you book a room, otherwise you may lose time at check in. We missed soap in room 325.
