We were hesitant about booking this hotel at first,but two things made us decide:the positive reviews and the fact that they replied quickly to our message before the reservation,which made us think they were attentive.Unfortunately,that wasnt really the case.
Since it was our wedding anniversary,we booked a superior room with a balcony,but when we arrived,we were given a roomon the first floor.When I showed them the photos and our message on booking.com,they told me the rooms were the same,that all balcony rooms were full,but we could upgrade to better one for an extra charge.Of course,I was very disappointed.Luckily,another lady at the reception helped us and arranged a room on the second floor.
What bothered me most was that the photos and descriptions on booking.com are misleading-the first and second floor superior rooms arent same.The hotel wasnt full,yet they still tried to charge us for an upgrade,even though I saw other guests mentioning free upgrades in their reviews.Also,they sair all balcony rooms were full at first,which clearly wasnt true.
On our checkout day,we realized the hotel was closing for the season,and they had already started removing the flowers from the balcony before guests had even left-I think that kind of thing should be done after guests check out.
On our last evening,we wanted to have a drink at the bar.There were still some people sitting there,and although it was 40 minutes before closing,the lady working there told us they were about to close and she had to wake up 7am,so we just went back to our room:)
On the positive side; the breakfast was excellent,especially thanks to the very friendly gentlemen working in the breakfast area.One day,a man I believe was the owner also came to ask how everything was,which was a nice gesture.The location and the parking are also big advantages.
We often visit the area for hiking,but unfortunately,we wouldnt choose this hotel again.I feel like they treat guests differently.
