We chose this hotel for our half way journey to Durness for holiday. Having a dog it is sometimes difficult to find a decent hotel and we chose this as it said it was a 4* boutique. |I booked the hotel via Hotels.com taking the choice to pay the bill at the hotel. The day before arrival I received a call from Scott at the hotel asking for payment. Whilst I was more than happy to pay at this time I said I had booked to pay at the hotel. He said they don’t do this despite me having evidence when I booked! He then cancelled my booking with Hotels.com after I had paid him direct. Maybe a ploy to prevent paying Hotels.com their commission??? Maybe not, but as this prevented my hotel rewards I will be reporting this to Hotels.com. |When I questioned this he was quite rude and abrupt. |On arrival at the hotel on checking in, the gentleman doing this, this may have been Scott, maybe not, either way he was equally miserable and surly. |Had we had time to source another hotel, we would have done as the customer service is very poor. The other staff we met appeared friendlier.|On arrival we were given the Inch room on the second floor. This is not in any way boutique, see the pictures. Perhaps dog owners get a short deal when it comes to room allocation?|There is a small bar and we hoped we could sit in the bar with our dog to eat an evening meal, however we were told the dog must stay in the room and was not allowed to sit with us, either in the bar or the restaurant. I find it unusual that dogs stay in the room, not something in our experience other hotels permit. |We therefore had to have room service, and with only one desk chair, this was not fine dining by any stretch of the imagination. While there were 2 tub chairs in the room and a coffee table, these are not suitable for dining, nor are they comfortable in any way. |The food we had was very good, in fact the only positive experience for this hotel.|We chose not to have breakfast, as we would have had to go to the restaurant separately delaying our journey. I was not sure whether this was offered on room service and we couldn’t be bothered to find out.|The room looked ‘tired’ and was not what I would consider to be boutique. |The bathroom was ok but not great. There was one part of the skirting that was rotting, again certainly not boutique. |The bed was comfortable and the bed linen normal for most hotels, but not luxurious.|The smart TV was not smart and on checking the WiFi bandwidth this was less than 10mbs, so we couldn’t watch much TV in the evening, nor could we enjoy any time in the bar with our dog, as she was not allowed. We certainly do not want to leave our dog, who is part of our family alone in a strange place.|The biggest bonus was that the hotel was next to a large park which was great for walking the dog.

A delightful hotel. Warm welcome on arrival. Room comfortable, beds exceptionally so. Kettle and mugs , teabags, instant coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, milk and sugar all kept in a handy tray inside the bedside cabinet. We ate in one night - food was delicious. The chef came out to talk to the diners later which was a nice touch. We were asked to choose breakfast the day before - makes sense then the kitchen knows how much to order. Breakfast was nicely presented.

This was a very comfortable and accommodating hotel. The beds were so comfortable, wonderful pillows and duvets, newly refurbished bathroom. Well proportioned and tasty meals. A friendly team who were sensitive during the wake as well.

Check in was rather regimented, we had to fill in a detailed form and choose one item from each selection for breakfast to be given back to reception that evening. Room was on the first floor, facing the front of the hotel, no lift. The room had such a creaky floor we felt sorry for the people downstairs. Very light curtains, no blackout blinds. Huge bathroom with rain fall shower was obviously new, difficult watching the traffic whilst on the loo! We found no attention to detail as hair in the shower and on the washbasin, the filthiest remote controller we had ever seen and dust!! Decided not to have tea from the tray as I am sure something was growing in the bottom of the kettle!!! However, the large bed was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very mediocre!! I think the skip full of old mattresses in the car park at the front of the hotel does not give good first impressions!!! We will definitely NOT be returning!!

Just had a weekend away with friends in this lovely small boutique hotel, we stayed in Friarton room, whilst our friends were in slightly bigger Oakbank (all rooms names not numbers) Both were booked as front facing superior rooms. We had a lovely new bathroom in the room and all was very clean and looked after well. We had both a delicious dinner and extensive breakfast, with plenty of local and Scottish produce. We met the chef, who came out to see the tables. If you are looking for a great, well kept, convenient and friendly place to stay in Perth then look no further. We all left saying it was a highlight of our trip. I would also recommend booking with them for dinner and breakfast.

Really nice experience. Parklands is in an ideal location, handy for city centre but with rural vibes. The whole place is warm, pristine clean & comfortable. All staff were welcoming & helpful. And we loved having breakfast, overlooking the garden with views out to Kinnoull Hill.

We have been visiting Parklands for many years and have to say that this visit was one of the best! ||The rooms are spotless as are the public areas.||The entire team work so well together and made every effort to make our stay special. They have become friends.||The new chef Nick is so passionate and that definitely shows in his food. It's delicious.

Privately run hotel with comfortable rooms, very friendly staff and great food albeit I felt breakfast was overpriced compared to other similar quality places I have stayed. £10-£13 would be more reasonable.

Yelp
Were here for 4 nights. Stayed on the 3rd floor in the "attic". Got a bit bumped on the head (ceiling) here and there but was otherwise a comfortable stay. Would have given this a 5 except that the bed had seen better days. The gentleman ("small Scott", as he referred to himself) is very professional, personable with great hospitality skills. The man checking us in was a bit brusque and questioned the reason for us asking for a fridge and tried to give us some b/s about smaller towns in Scotland not having them in hotel rooms. He also tried the hard sell for brekkie. Dude ... please ... we are experienced (crusty) travellers who have travelled throughout Scotland. Regardless, this is well-run property. No complaints!

Yelp
I love small hotels and the Parkland fills the bill. With 15 rooms it's really more of an Inn. Situated a sort 5 minute walk from the train station (but you don't hear any train) and a quick 10 minutes from the town center it's a great location if you a visiting on a short holiday like we were. There is a nice park next to it as well. Rooms are huge!! By UK standards with king size bed ( at least in out room). The rooms are a bit dated, but not in a bad way. They were clean and neat. The have a nice bar and lounge room where I sit writing this review, but the real gem is the out door patio and garden. Absolutely beautiful, in fortunately is has been raining part of the day and we are unable to enjoy them. But the advertise a beer garden, so even if you are not staying here I would say it is worth a visit and a pint on a fine summer night

Yelp
A nice small hotel conviently located near to the town centre, South Inch and railway station. Rooms are nicely decorated, with a nice ensuite bathroom. I've stayed during the summer and found the hetaing still on and the room too warm. Another problem was that my room overlooked the railway station which was noisey during the night with goods trains. Food is very good, but fairly expensive. Large car park but not many spaces at the top of the hill. Nice freidnly staff.

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions when I moved to Perth, it is the best option of all the hotels in Perth is convienient for town and the railway station. Well deserved reputation for great food in it's restaurants. Provides free wifi which is a real plus. Still use it for dining and sitting drinking wine on the terrace in Summer.
