Buffalo’s Best Kept Offers Delicious Treats and Some of the Best Architecture in the City

"Parkside Candy, one of Buffalo’s oldest and most beloved candy stores, came under new ownership in the 1980s when Phil Buffamonte and his brother Ron took over the historic Parkside Candy Shoppe space. Originally opened in 1919 by George Kaiser and his wife, the store expanded to a new building in 1927 designed by local architect Morton Woolfe, where it resides today. The Buffamontes began their foray into candy in 1974, and eventually purchased Parkside Candy after seeing a for sale sign. The store retained original machines and recipes were recreated through trial and error. The shop is known for its regional specialty, sponge candy, and also produces various chocolates and candies in its 25,000 square feet factory. Parkside Candy is recognized as a historic landmark and offers products in-store and online, maintaining its original grandeur through restorations." - Tori Allen

"Located in Buffalo’s University Heights District, Parkside Candy is famous not only for its affordable ice-cream sundaes and delicious sandwiches, but also for its beautiful space. Open since 1927, the shop is filled with Victorian details—from intricate plaster moldings to mahogany display cases—making a visit here feel like a step back in time. As for the food, the sandwiches are perfect for a light lunch and the sundaes are hands down the best in Buffalo—order the brownie option for a chocolate overdose. Also be sure to pick up signature treats like homemade chocolates, old-fashioned lollipops, and sponge candy for some sweet souvenirs."

I love this original, historic Parkside Candy location in Buffalo. Its total vintage charm makes the shopping experience delightful! They offer a LOT of different chocolate treats, but I only ever buy the sponge candy, it’s my very favorite! I personally think it’s the best sponge candy. One time my friend and I sat in the special booth to have ice cream sundaes- that was fun!

My daughter and I visited for the very first time today. Loved looking around, amazed by the original decor. It was beautiful. Then I wondered over by the ice cream, I was looking at everything, and the woman behind the ice cream bar ( with short dark hair) asked if we are ordering anything, I told her yes, for here, and she told me to basically read the sign that we have to sit down and order from there. I didn't know, it was my first time there, and was enjoying looking at everything. She was VERY RUDE. I almost left. The waitress with the long blonde hair was lovely and very polite. The other woman should learn how to be polite. We drove at least 15 minutes to go to your shop. I will hesitate recommending this place to friends of mine if I know that this woman is going to be there and if she's going to continue to be rude. Unreal.

Amazing variety and friendly staff, great atmosphere and the whole place smells just fantastic!

I purchased several different chocolate candies and specifically chose dark chocolate, but the candies did not taste like dark chocolate and were very sweet. Also eat them with in the next day because they started tasting stale on the second dau. However the chocolate truffles did taste better than the other Chocolate candies. The jelly and taffy, and lollipop candies were the better part of the selection. We also had the tuna sandwich lunch which tasted delicious, however I wish the chips came in a different flavor than plain. The staff was very courteous and helpful. But be warned if you use the restroom, all the doorknobs were broken or close to it. The stall wouldn’t lock and the ladies room didn’t have a lock so I had to hope no one came in.

Everyone must come into this beautiful time capsule. The vintage woodwork and mounding is a sight to behold, and the staff is the friendliest in town. The prices are exceptionally reasonable, and the food is phenomenal. It’s a beloved part of town for every local, and many visitors

Transport yourself almost 100 years in the past. Well preserved historic place. Awesome ice cream sundae’s. Great service and tons of character. You must experience this when visiting Buffalo, NY.

Google
I went to purchase a gift and when I checked in the chocolate box when I got to the car there were live bugs crawling inside the box, larva and eggs. When I walked in to get a refund I was treated like this happens all the time and isn't a big deal. The entire store smelled of cleaning products. Over all disgusting and disappointing experience. Update to response - For clarity it was not the cashier who brushed me off. It was, I'm assuming you, who just took the box without looking at it and threw it away. If the chocolate was new how were there eggs/ larva. I don't blame the cashier at all. It may be best to spend less time on justifying your actions on the negative reviews and look into the cleanliness and sanitation of your historic establishment.

Yelp
Perfect little time capsule! We stopped in for tasty sundaes and the decor, Parkside delivered! Clean friendly, delicious. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
Had family visiting and decided to stop here. My first time visiting and as we opened the door I felt like I was walking back in history. Immediately felt the historic vibe of this candy/ice cream shop. Super cute. Lots of chocolate candy options including infamous sponge candy. Great service! It wasn't too busy which was great. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Stopped in for Christmas gifts for my husband, and 14 of my friend's children. What a great building, so beautiful inside. I was able to get my husband two very nice gifts i've tasty chocolates and cashews, and also all 14 children taken care of. Lynn was amazing and super helpful. I'll definitely go back.

Yelp
Looking for the perfect cool me off or sweet summer treat, then Parkside Candy is the place not to be missed. They offer a wide variety of ice cream flavors and sundaes .The hot fudge sundae is incredible. And if you're still not full, try some of these delicious, creamy chocolates.I purchased the Peanutbutter cups and they were amazing.

Yelp
This was our first stop on a tour of ice cream and sweet treat locations in the Buffalo area! Although we weren't sure of the lunchtime menu, we had seen a note somewhere that they served a few different sandwiches, so we plan to have lunch here. We were not disappointed! On the contrary, the sandwiches were delicious, and the soup was out of this world! The lunch waitress was very nice and welcoming!
google avatar

Ping K.

Yelp
Came for sugar and lunch - what a gem! Best grilled cheese ever (the kids said), and the sundaes are classically satisfying (spooning partially melted ice cream and syrup out of a cold metal bowl is one of life's great experiences). The chocolates we tried were all excellent (peanut butter cups a highlight), and sponge candy is an airy revelation - though it's kind of overwhelmed in a sundae, better to eat it on its own. Interior was restored in 2017 and is absolutely gorgeous, a time machine to another century. The center booth in the back is THE place to sit if you have 4 people or fewer, and the path to the bathrooms is a don't-miss spatial experience through a semi-secret door.
google avatar

Yelp
The candy and prices are great, but customer service felt nonexistent - not overtly rude, just not very welcoming. Maybe it was an off day. The shop itself is very charming and attractive. Good variety of sweets and chocolates. We tried some truffles and salt water taffy. The price was much less than expected compared to other shops. I'd probably give it another chance for the value alone. They also serve ice cream.

Yelp
Not sure if there's another candy store in Buffalo with such an old fashion art deco style than Parkside Candy. The store is almost 100 years old (opened 1927) and in 2017 was restored to it's original glory. It appears that there is now work going on with the factory but not sure of the details. Walking inside give you the instant feeling of going back in time. Not sure which jumped out at me more, the beautiful checkered floor or the amazing ceiling. Then you look around at the cute booths, ice cream stand, and cases of candy, all in a circular design around the room with beautiful woodwork, paint colors, and wallpaper. I'm not much of a candy eater so my review is mostly about the atmosphere and experience though I did buy a small box of various kinds to try. Didn't try the ice cream. I'll come back again to check that out. 2021-60

Yelp
Ah, the memories of going to this gorgeous, old-fashioned ice cream parlor that I'd forgotten was quite close to my late great aunt's home on Winspear Avenue. The thick chocolate fudge on top of ice cream was the stuff of dreams and that goes double for an upstate New York thing, sponge candy. (I learned it's also a thing in Minnesota or Wisconsin, maybe a blizzard climate thing, I digress). So my beloved heard the longing in my voice and knowing I'm not a sweets person, he realized this sponge candy was special to me- so he had two boxes shipped off to San Francisco. I'd forgotten how heavenly this candy is, made by hand in the Parkside Candy factory behind the ice cream parlor. Crunchy, almost fizzy, as it melts on your tongue with a rich caramel goodness that's like no other. Milk or dark chocolate? I'll take dark chocolate, please. So picturesque and early century authentic, a pivotal scene between Robert Redford and Glenn Close in The Natural was shot here. Here's to making memories old and new.

Yelp
Another visit to the shop. Employees were very friendly and said hello immediately upon entry. Compared to our last visit they didn't have as many options, but last time was around Valentine's Day. We still found a bunch of things. We picked up a bunch of chocolate to hold us over until next time. Their sponge candy is so good. We picked up chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate suckers, peanutbutter cups and cashew clusters.
google avatar

Christy H.

Yelp
Guys, it's beautiful in here. My husband and I came to get some ice cream the day after Valentine's Day and are so happy we did! They were a little short staffed, but we still were able to order rather quickly. I got a salted caramel sundae with hot fudge and it was delicious. Apparently, the ice cream is homemade there. You can definitely taste the difference between it and store bought. The customer service we received was great, even though they were a little slow to take our payment. Again, they were short staffed, so this is understandable. The building itself is so lovely. It's really old fashioned, with very little modernity. I love old places like this; it's like stepping back in time. I definitely want to come back here as soon as possible!
google avatar

Yelp
The most charming candy store which was recently renovated to its historic original Art Deco beauty. I love their Spence candy and went specifically for that. They also have ice cream or a little lunch menu you can order from and a few booths/tables for customers. We enjoyed our hot fudge Sundays while sitting in the built in booth.

Yelp
Oh my goodness this place was like straight out of a movie! It's so picturesque inside, and the prices for everything were reasonable. PLUS, they have an ice cream bar! Definitely recommend their root beer float & my husband said their sea foam was some of his favorite. Great place to bring kids or if you're having a sweet tooth.

Yelp
The store is absolutely beautiful. It's probably what I'd a younger crowd would call "vintage". And it actually truly is because Parkside Candy has been open during the years grandparents were still alive. The food was a disappointment. The presentation was wonderful, but the taste of the candy did not match. I had a taste of the sugar-free gummies and a dark chocolate bar. The sugar-free gummies were sweetened with aspartame, a sugar substitute. Beware that aspartame has some risk of gastrointestinal side effects. Other than that, the gummies were too hard. Like they've been sitting at the display case for days before I bought it. The dark chocolate bar was not very dark either. I ended up shredding the chocolate on top of my pancakes because it didn't have the bitterness that I seek out in the dark chocolate. I prefer a grocery store brand of dark chocolate than the dark chocolate from Parkside. The population is mostly made of more elderly ladies and their young grandchildren. They came here for an ice cream sundae, so I guess I should've looked at what the natives eat before I bought some actual candies. Parking sucks like it always does near a University. But come here before 6, and you'll have an easy time with parking as long as you are fine with parallel parking. Parkside also isn't busy during that time, so you kill two birds with one stone.

Jody N.

Yelp
my son bought your chocolate covered pretzel rods at the galleria mall on 11/6/22. We live over an hour away, and when he got home to eat them he looked at them before opening them and there were maggots in them. These were unopened. So disappointed.

Yelp
How have I lived in Buffalo for over a year and only just came to Parkside Candy? Blasphemy, that's how. We took my out of state parents here on Sunday because my mom constantly has to buy candy for my nephews (and luckily me since I was here) and this place blew them away! The old school pop shop look when you walk in is the ultimate form of nostalgia. The candy bar wraps around and gives you countless options to fix that sweet tooth you are eventually going to get a cavity on. On the opposite side of the place is the ice cream bar which I mustered enough strength not to walk over too (at least today). I ended up leaving with a bag of sponge candy and some chocolate covered pretzel rods (purchased on Sunday, 100% gone by Monday morning). Overall, this place is simply amazing. This place is worth checking out even if you aren't a big fan of sweets just for the looks alone.

Yelp
This interior dates to 1927 but, after a recent renovation, it looks fresh. The exterior is in dismal condition but it's to be rejuvenated, too. I hope it happens soon because chunks look ready to fall to the sidewalk below. Unfortunately, an experience here is all about the ambience of a bygone era. Enjoy it. Breathe it in because the menu is incredibly small and the ice cream is ordinary. With such a spectacular interior, the central space is frustratingly cluttered with tables of chocolate. I get it: chocolate is the driver of this business but, c'mon, it's assembled like a yard sale. I departed feeling sad.
google avatar

Dennise R.

Yelp
So cool and old school. This is a hidden gem, easy to miss. This place doesn't only look retro, the service is also like was back in the day personal with a smile table service. Order an ice cream, sit on a table and imagine you are back in the 40's.
google avatar

Einas S.

Yelp
The outside is now completely repaired to its former beauty and the inside is still a step back in time. The candy is still delicious, don't forget the peanut butter melt aways. The ice cream is table service which is fun for couples and families alike. The young people who work there are consistently sweet and helpful. So if you have company from out of town , you must take them there. And if you are going out of town , make sure to take some Parkside Candy with you for whom ever you are going to visit. They will love you for it.

Yelp
I ordered peanut butter cups from Parkside Candy and had them shipped directly to my mom for Mother's Day this year. They indicated that there may be delays due to COVID19 which I expected. However, the package ended up arriving right on time. My mother was so happy and raved about how smooth the peanut butter cups were and how she ate one immediately after they arrived. I can't wait to have some candy here myself once everything starts to open back up.
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
We sat down for table service ice cream. I ordered a root beer float. It came with the ice cream on top of the cup so you got the joy of pushing in down into the soda. Which was a little messy but fun. You also got a another side glass of root beer for when you drank down the other root beer. My husband ordered a milkshake and loved it. On our way out we ordered some candy to take to a party. Their ice cream selection is not huge so don't walk in expecting it to be like Lake Effect. Of course it the inside was beautiful, we really should take out of town guests there more often!

Yelp
We have been wanting to check out Parkside Candy for years and finally got the chance on a day we were both off from work and the traffic on Main Street was light. We were greeted by the owner as we entered with bells dingling as the door swung open. The displays of chocolate are tempting and the ice cream menu is full of 14 flavors plus three special flavors.
google avatar

Cynthia B.

Yelp
The place is historic and beautiful! My husband came here as a child and also brought his children when they were young. We decided to get ice cream. They have table service. The server was sweet but the poor thing had to come out twice to tell us that they were out of things. Out of coffee and ( this was a big one) no bananas. The menu is small so to be out of these staples was strange. Our sundaes were decent but my husband believes they were out of one of his ice cream flavors and substituted another. He didn't want to bother mentioning that he noticed. We just figured the server didn't want come out again that they were out of something. The place is worth a stop in to see the place, skip the food maybe buy candy.
google avatar

Sailee R.

Yelp
Best hot chocolate, sundaes and sponge candy in Buffalo. Need not say more about this place.
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
This has a beautiful interior. People come here mostly for the ambience. Cool sign. 3/!1 suckers. Favorite candy: white raspberry cheesecake chocolate. (Far left case) Friendly workers!

Lisa E.

Yelp
The employees were super friendly. Nice selection of candies. The sponge candy is terrific.
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
Man, this is a two sided review. Lower stars for the ice cream. Higher stars for the ambience and experience. So... I'll settle on three stars unfortunately. Took my 3 year old here for an early Valentine's Day treat. We waited until 12pm on that Sunday b/c that's when it opened--- yet when we got there, the signs said they had special hours for Valentine's Day weekend and they opened at 9am. I checked their Facebook and Twitter accounts beforehand and they mentioned NOTHING about these special hours. C'mon guys - you have the accounts, use them to update your customers! We bought some Valentine's day candy --- all delicious! Their quality of chocolate is top notch and their sponge candy is better than ANYWHERE else in Buffalo. We've tried over 2 dozen places and have yet to find the same ratio of chocolate to sponge, quality of chocolate, and "meltiness" of the sponge when you touch your tongue to it. We got ourselves a couple sundaes but were disappointed. $4.25 for a small and there was probably less than a full scoop of ice cream in there. My cookies and cream ice cream was gritty/grainy and tasted like it had freezerburn. Not worth the money by any stretch. The news reports that they spent major $$$$ on significant renovations. It looks pretty similar inside, just more "touched up" and less run down. However, they are far from complete. My daughter wanted to sit in the cute curved bench nook, but there was still tons of water damage, it looked like the cushion had been pulled up, and there were exposed staples and rotted rood splinters sticking up. Yuck. And not safe. The bathrooms are also still a DISASTER - peeling (lead???) paint all over the walls, zero updates whatsoever, and no working cold water. This was *terrible* because after we ate our sundaes, my toddler had goopy, sticky marshmallow sauce all over her hands & we had 3 seconds to wash it all off before SCALDING hot water came burning out of the faucet. No good. This is a MUST to repair ASAP for the safety of your customers. A sign is not acceptable for more than a couple days - call in a plumber and have it corrected. Based on the condition of the sign, it looks like it's been this way for a WHILE now. How are your employees *adequately * washing their hands before handling food? You can't wash for more than a couple seconds before burning yourself! yuck. I don't like to think about it. :( So... go for the chocolate and the (renovated) ambience. But don't look too closely at the details until they're finished (and I certainly hope they still have more to do...)

Yelp
I love this place been going there since I was a kid riding my bike there with my friends now I can take my kids there now my girlfriend loves it a nice family business great prices everybody need to come here 5 stars

Yelp
Very handsome interior.. look up at the ceiling. The ice cream was very mediocre (choc peanut butter). $3.50 single scoop. 2 stars for SLOW. Another body working would really help.

Yelp
Free samples! Cute inside! Reasonable prices! I didn't try the ice cream but bought lots of chocolates for gifts.

Yelp
A magical and whimsical candy shop and ice cream parlor. It's like stepping back in time. Really unique decor. We kept it simple and ordered ice cream two scoops of mint chip with chocolate sprinkles. What a setting. From 1927 it's an institution. My father in law used to come here in the early 1960s and said it hasn't changed a bit. Go check it out you won't be disappointed. This was a WONDERFUL candy shop.
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
The candy itself is fantastic. The only reason for the one star is the service. The man who helped us was at first kind, gave us 2 free samples and was pretty knowledgeable about the different types and flavors of candy. That kindness only lasted until he found out we were only buying suckers and a few single pieces of chocolate. I attempted to pay with my debit card since I wasn't carrying any cash and he basically laughed at me. He said since it was less than 5 dollars they really weren't making any money and refused to allow me to pay with my debit card, claiming since he gave us free samples we should have spent more. He was a fucking prick. No other way to put it.

Yelp
I went here on a Sunday night with my father, brother and daughter for some ice cream. This place has recently been restored to its original glory and when you walk in the doors it's like you're being transported back in time. Even the employees are dressed like how they did back in the day. When we arrived we were the only customers and were greeted by a friendly man with a great smile. He told us to have a seat and they would bring us some menus. We opted to sit in the booth at the back of the shop. We were given menus and I expected there to be only ice cream but to my surprise this ice cream shop offers actual food too. Just sandwiches and small stuff but nonetheless good to note for the next time I come here. Seeing as we were there for ice cream we browsed the ice cream selections. They have what you would expect, sundaes, floats, cones, shakes, etc. Along with a variety of ice cream selections and cones. I ordered a small hot fudge sundae with whipped cream (whipped cream costs extra), my brother had a large hot fudge sundae with whipped cream, my dad also had a large hot fudge sundae but I whipped cream and my daughter had a double scoop of cookies and cream ice cream on a regular cone. The waitress took our order and our ice cream came out 5 minutes later. All I can say is....the ice cream...the whipped cream....that hot fudge....SO GOOD SO DELICIOUSLY GOOD. I can't even begin to describe how good it was. I devoured that sundae, as did my dad and brother devour theirs. That is how a sundae should be. The whipped cream is what I loved the most, it was real fresh whipped cream with just the right amount of sweetness. So good. After we ate we checked out the shop. Drooling over the candies in the display cases. The sell pretty much any candy you would like and it's all locally made behind the store in their factory (support local). All in all we had a GREAT experience here. The shop was gorgeous, the employees extremely friendly and courteous. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to leave your car, and Main Street is packed with no spots open... just do what the name tells you. "Park" down the "Side". Duh! I'm serious actually. If you go down the street right next to PSC (that's my new acronym for Parkside Candy) then you'll see a little, old, weird lot behind the building, that is perfectly adequate for you to leave your car in. You can park there! Right on the side! Isn't that awesome?! Great! Now... Don't say I never did anything for you! Set in an old movie theater, it's vital that you walk in here just to experience it. It's like nowhere else you'll go, you feel like you're going back in time to old school Buffalo. I absolutely loved the experience. There's another Parkside further north, Colvin north of Sheridan I think, but it's nowhere near as cool looking as this one. That has nothing to do with the products though, so we'll move on to those. Parkside Candy is a really, really awesome store. I quite like the Sponge Candy from here, though I wouldn't say it's off the charts amazing by any means. I also tried some of the fudge from here, and it was pretty good, although I didn't finish it. I have yet to try their ice cream and milkshakes but I will definitely give them a try next time I am around. You have to visit PC if only for the atmosphere, as previously described. The employees aren't always as friendly as they are at certain other chocolate shops (cough cough, Condrells), but it's well worth a trip just to check out the amazing old building and the large selection of cool things.

Yelp
Nothing has changed at this location since I was a kid, since my mother was a kid, and when my grandmother used to go. I'm loving the sea foam green married with brown trim and the detail in the walls and ceilings. Hands down the best place to get Banana splits and they have sandwiches too! I haven't tried them myself, but the service at the table brings back the traditional ways of a malt and chocolate shop. On the one hand, paying for the bill was tough, especially if you wanted to get chocolate to go there doesn't seem to be a concrete System if a crown forms. My mother and I were the first to pay, and we were browsing the chocolate. Once we knew what we wanted, that was when employees made themselves unavailable. Once we ate there was no follow up for questions about their products, and when we were ready it took a lot of work to get assistance. There wasn't clear signage on the process to order nor was their a designation of a line or a check out area. We were skipped by two people although our order was in the back. A minor issue, hence the four stars for the rest of the experience. I think there was a cultural component on our end. The set up is more like a mom and pop butcher than the usual structured retail space we are used to today.
google avatar

Anthony R.

Yelp
The place is beautiful inside. And the chocolate is ok. I was sad to find out that the ice cream is Turkey Hill ice cream. To bad it is not homemade. And the toppings for the ice cream tasted very processed. Nothing seem to be homemade.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Ahh. Parkside Candy. A historical gem open since the 1920s. As others have mentioned, the character of this place is truly one of the primary reasons for visiting it -- aside from the delicious soup and ice cream! While some claim their ice cream is home made, it's NOT -- it's actually Turkey Hill ice cream (but still DAMN good!). Don't expect pretentious, fancy service either, here you'll come and find true Buffalo character. From their food, I have tried the soup (they were serving chicken noodle today). It was $2.50 for a bowl and full of savory deliciousness. The kind of soup that is hearty and great to have when you're sick (or when you're healthy). There's not too many vegetarian options here, although you can get an egg salad sandwich (which I have not tried). You want to come here for the decor, the great prices and the character. Come enjoy the history of Buffalo at Parkside Candy.

Yelp
This is my second time here but I regret even walking back into this building. I walked in and was looked at by an employee but no welcome from anyone. I looked around for a while then I sat down. That's when an older woman asked if I was waiting for the bus or waiting for an order and I said I was looking at ice cream flavors. I left out for a second but came back in and that's when I went back to the ice cream part and the older woman came back to ask if I'd be serviced. She then got the younger girl to make me an ice cream. No one wore hair nets, gloves, or cleaned their hands in anyway. I asked if they had hand sanitizer and the older woman said "..uh you can wash your hands in the bathroom, right through that door" but she seemed to busy to show me where the door was bc they're mirrors and look undetectable to me. The older woman then said "You better be buying something" while I was trying my THIRD sample. The younger girl attending to me asked for my spoon, that was in my mouth, back when I asked to try another ice cream. Overall the service is bad and the people are weird.

I want to love this place, I really do.. But it just doesn't quite hit the bar.. So this review is only for the candy. I can't really comment on it's other sweet offerings. First of all, this place has so much potential. It's got a lot of charm and character. But to be honest, it's in quite disrepair. From the outside, this place looks abandoned.. The paint is peeling, the sconces and trims are gouged and stained... It looks decrepit. I can only imagine what it used to look like in its heyday. However not everything is gloomy... The inside is a lot cuter than the outside. The cabinets are filled will adorable pyramids of chocolate and candy. But even still... Things look a bit dirty and in disrepair. There is so much potential. Most of the hardware seems original and turn of the century but things seem to be caked with decades of grime and layers of paint. But it's cute. The place has such an air to it. It doesn't take much of an imagination to see what this place must have looked like a hundred years ago with bright candy striped soda jerks and bins of candy. The candy in itself was also a bit of a disappointment... I bought an assortment of dipped chocolate bonbons - some jellies, caramels, toffees, and nougets.. Also a pack of sponge candy. The chocolate they used is disappointing. It's got a bit of grain to it and doesn't quite snap like it's been tempered properly. The prices are reasonable but things don't taste like what I would expect from a historical candy boutique. I also bought some lollipops and those were also... A bit of a letdown. Again I really want to love this place. If even just for the appreciation of how old it is. But there needs to be some changes and a bit of a facelift before it can again become a central Buffalonian institution.

Yelp
Um is this not the cutest desert place ever?! After grabbing brunch with my roommates we didn't want the food to end so we decided to stop by parkside for dessert. The candy and chocolate can be a bit pricey but come here for the ice cream! We got the grandma special which was 8 ice cream scoops with loads of topping for less than 10$! This is an extremely adorable place for a date or even just a great way to end the day. Plus the staff members have the sweetest smiles!

Yelp
So if you're looking for something new, modern, and hip ... this isn't the place. However if you are looking for something vintage and classic this is the candy shop for you. There were two ladies working and very helpful and knew much of their products. I got to try something Buffalo and enjoyed it, the Sponge Candy (dark/milk) I actually liked the dark more. So Sponge Candy is sort of like a airy puffy butter finger. I wasn't a fan of the milk chocolate buffalo. They had a ton of assortment of chocolates, gummies, taffies, they also sold sandwiches? and shakes and sundaes! I really enjoyed the small touchdown I had. (it has like vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter mixed into it!) had it topped with whipcream, marsh mallow fluff, and a cherry on top. Haven't had a sundae like that in forever! Candy is made in a factory near I believe I was told from the employee.

Yelp
This is my favorite ice cream shop in Buffalo. Great location for UB students. Very friendly staff. And a very beautiful looking place.

Yelp
This frozen-in-time chocolate shop is as adorable as it is authentic. Beautiful dark wood fills the interior, and small original tiles cover the floor. The place is almost to large, except for the fact that it's the original, so you can ignore the fact that the space is too big for it's current offerings. The middle section that displays the goods feels awkwardly setup, and could use a redesign, but everything along the walls- the ice cream parlour, checkout, and glass display cases, are perfect. The confections themselves are incredibly delicious- and they have a large variety on offer, including some sugar free options as well. Friends are always blown away with the old time charm when I bring them there for their first taste of sponge candy- which, of course, they make exceptionally well.

Yelp
A Great place to get ice cream and chocolate chocolates. It is very cold Z and romantic. Very kid friendly. Very impressed with the atmosphere. Clean, warm, and staff was accommodating. It smells delicious the minute you enter the doors. This Parkside Place has been in this area for more than 40 years. The only problem is there's no free parking. But staff and manager will accommodate you to your satisfied. If you're lucky to find a good free parking you could go up and down the street to other boutiques. This is an area for UB South and North students.

Yelp
Not cheap, the ambience makes it worth it. Old fashioned place the renovation inside looks great. The outside is in the process of being brought back up to par. 17 of us went in and we all came out happy. Thanks Bob and the rest of the crew.
