I stayed one night at the Parkway Motel on Monday, February 26th. I was driving from Edmonton to the Peterborough area of Ontario. Based on a review of the map the day before, it looked like Wawa, ON was the best place to spend my third night of the trip. Because I had 3 cats with me, I called ahead to book a motel as I needed a pet-friendly room. I actually had to contact a number of motels in Wawa before I found one that (a) answered the phone, (b) had a pet-friendly room available, and (c) was actually open in the winter. Thankfully I found Parkway as they had all three!
A note to future visitors ... the Parkway Motel is on Highway 17 just south of the exit to Wawa. It isn't in the main part of Wawa. Therefore, if you want food or need gas, you might want to stop and do those things before going to the motel. I ended up having to backtrack in order to get dinner the night I checked in. And then I had to do the same thing to get gas the next day. There's almost nothing between the Parkway Motel and Lake Superior Provincial Park once you're on the road.
Making a reservation and checking into the motel was super easy. The owner was very nice and friendly. The room I got was very nice and clean and had everything I needed. And the parking lot was plowed really well, making parking in front of the room super easy.
All 3 cats liked the room and were on their best behaviour (as they always are). And bringing stuff to/from the car was easy because I could park right outside the door.
One thing I was super impressed with, which may seem funny, was the water pressure in the shower. It was excellent! Sometimes the showers in hotels are less than perfect, but this shower was awesome!
Check-out consisted of leaving my key in my room when I left, so I didn't need to go back to the office. That was very convenient.
Overall, I would highly recommend this motel if you're staying in Wawa. Although I'm sure the whole experience would be much nicer if it were the summer, but I did enjoy my winter stay and am grateful they were open in the winter (as many places are not).
