The new Canberra drinking experience - SilverKris

"A chic wine room in Acton focused on approachable yet refined small-plate dining and curated wines; its bar service pairs dishes such as a baby octopus salad and harissa-spiked potatoes with regional white blends (Viognier/Pinot Gris), reflecting a thoughtful, neighborhood-oriented approach to wine and food." - Kendall Hill

I wanted to like this place, but the food didn’t live up to expectations—lacking flavor and freshness, with rushed presentation. The menu was also very limited, with only 4–6 main dishes. On the bright side, the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made the atmosphere more enjoyable.

Parlour Wine Room – Charming Visited Parlour Wine Room recently with my partner for his birthday, and we had a lovely night. The staff were warm and welcoming, and they had just launched their new menu, which we were excited to try. We started with the Labneh – creamy and paired with perfectly baked pita bread. While the labneh was nice, I personally found the pomegranate salsa could’ve used a bit more zing—maybe a citrusy lift to balance it out. That said, the pita.... On point!! Next up, the Truffle Arancini – these were delicious! I’m a big truffle fan and this did not disappoint. The serrano pepper relish it came with was a standout—so good I ended up mopping it up with the leftover pita. The Betutu Chicken brought warm, rich Balinese flavours. Comforting and exactly what I expected, with the coconut rice and chili cucumber sambal adding great balance. We also tried the Market Fish, which was barramundi on the night. The flavours were lovely and the miso glaze worked well with the gohan rice cake, but I was hoping for a crispier skin so it slightly missed the mark. They’ve got a solid wine list too—great range and something for every palate. Overall, a really nice spot for a relaxed dinner for a private date.

My Friend and I were welcomed as soon as we walked into restaurant, as we booked before we arrived we were seated within seconds to a lovely table already set for us. Service from Dip and Hayden was friendly and attentive to our order making sure our meal was just right. Food was delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable. Downstairs they have a bar which I would love to visit on my next table booking. Thank you Dip and Hayden for your friendly service. Will visit again soon 😊

Excellent food with warm service, pretty unforgettable experience in New Acton area. Some dishes, like the octopus and prawns, are tasteful; the rest, eggplant and steak, is more of a simple way in cooking. Both taste good tho. The service is really good, caring and warm, given it was a busy night.

Came for a date night and the food was amazing! Great value for taste and portion sizes were ok. Highlight was the Heirloom tomatoes which were amazing! Steak was cooked well with the bearnaise sauce accompanying it being a great add. The eggplant was great too. All items i would buy again! Service was fast, attentive, welcoming and staff were lovely to talk to. It was fairly loud from music and some large groups that were which made it difficult for my partner and I to converse well. Overall, great place to come eat!

This place has most definitely gone downhill, and it is a real shame. I used to come here regularly, years ago - the food was great and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Unfortunately that is not the experience we had today. The waitstaff were unfriendly and seemed to have attitude and certainly didn't want to be there. When we expressed that the calamari was not good, the waitress took the plate, said sorry and disappeared. She did not ask what the issue was or what we would like to do - i.e have it cooked again, order something else, or get a refund. She then came some time later with new calamari which we hadn't asked for and didn't want (given the previous batch). It appears they forgot our drinks and had to be reminded. They then brought our drinks and put them down without saying a word, only to re-emerge to say the restaurant was closing in 10 minutes and we would need to leave (?!). I explained we just got our drinks, so would need to finish before we left. Overall, terrible experience, with waitstaff that don't seem to understand the basics of customer service - listening, understanding, being positive, friendly and helpful.

Google
Lovely spot in New Acton for a drink or a bite to eat. Limited menu - I tried the lamb burger and it easy pretty tasty. Came with fries ( they looked hand cut) and a very garlicky aioli. We had a larger group of 9 and the venue was quite noisy - hard to hear others not right next to me. There were lots of little nooks around the place and some lovely outdoor seating - I think this would be lovely with 2 or 3 people. Service was good - didn't have to wait too long to take orders or for food to come out. Parking was a bit tricky at lunch time on a week day - leave yourself time. Very happy that they split the bill. All in all, a pleasant experience.

Google
Great service and fitout. Went off peak. Food was pleasant but left a little to be desired. Portobello burger with fries was a generous portion but it wasn’t juicy or succulent as a burger ought to be. The eggplant had a nice crisp to it but I left wondering about the couscous underneath the eggplant which was only dressed with the same balsamic finish as you see on the eggplant. Not sure it added value to the dish. Great fresh juice though with a twist of honey. All up food was alright, but the main stars here are ambience and service.

Yelp
Pretty decent. Cute little room with a bar in the center. Feels like you're in an old parlor. Lots of light, mix matched couches, etc. Quick service! I got the seafood spaghetti and a $2 glass of wine on special. All was tasty!

Yelp
So-so. Half of the food was great, the other half wasn't. The barramundi was tender and well-seasoned, the potatoes were very good, the greens were not good (sauteed spinach, French peas, green lima-looking beans, asparagus, green squash- it was like the chef said, "throw every green thing in a pan together and cook them all the same way despite the fact that these are individual vegetables with individually appropriate methods of preparation. Don't argue with me"), the chicken was kinda yuck. Unimpressed by the beer selection, but my G&T was great (and giant- I got the summer Gran Mare special, which is a huge G&T with two oysters on the half shell for $15). Next time I think we'll spring for the tapas instead of the full meals. The service is great- friendly host staff and attentive servers, even on a Friday night. Tons of seating, and each little nook of the place is individually styled and it feels like your table totally belongs to you, like it's "your usual table". The patio is a gorgeous spot to catch a sunset, and it's dog-friendly. Don't bring your kids unless they're exceptionally un-kid-like; some of the cocktails served are literally on fire.

Yelp
We came here for a pre dinner drink. The staff are amazing and very switched on, we were asked numerous times if we needed to order drinks or required a table, excellent service. This is possibly the best service we have received in a very long time, it rarely exists in oz anymore. Well done management keep up the good work!

Yelp
Very over rated Staff have a real attitude as well Don't order the eye fillet medallions it's like 3 small circles of cheap minute steak

Yelp
Poor experience here with the promise of two tapas plates and dessert for $35 on a Monday. Only to be told on paying the bill that "oh that price is only for items on a special menu" then they added a further 10% for a public holiday. The food was ok but slow to come out, the staff were pleasant but not dressed in a manner that fits the restaurant. I have had good experiences here in the past but this was not one of them. If you are going to charge $14 a glass for wine, don't serve two glasses of red in two different size glasses. Sadly, overpriced and underwhelmed.

Yelp
Went with in a group of 5 and honestly I have never seen such big meals for lunch. I had the popcorn squid and with a large glass of Coke all came to $20.a cheap meal and a happy customer ,,,if you like sea food order this, it's just divine, my friends had hamburgers, they did not complain and the couldn't eat them all. The service is great, the staff are so so friendly, will I be back? Oh yes for sure ,

Yelp
Great place to have a few cocktails or wine. Sit back on lounges or outside in the sun.

Yelp
The Parlour is truly amazing. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in Canberra. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are lovely. I've been fortunate enough to dine at this restaurant four times in the last three months. Try the calamari & chorizo (what a taste sensation), the fillet steak is to die for and all the desserts are outstanding. Be sure to order a side of potatoes (not sure what the chef does with these but you'll love them!!)

Yelp
Excellent tapas menu, huge wine list, a small but also excellent cocktail list. Good for pre or post dinner drinks, or a whole meal (large and small tapas plates available). Service a bit lacking at times (as is universally the case in Canberra, so hard to fault it on this basis). pedro ximenez and churros for desert is solid. spanish tempranillo also great. pork belly the standout tapas dish
